Can we port over beats audio to this device?
Voodoo is all we need. Poweramp helps a bit too. Beats is just a marketing name that has no real advantage. Trust me you don't want what they got.

Yep...GUI might not appealing to most though.
I think personally with voodoo controls and my beats earbuds it sounds better than my cousins iphone4.

We want beats audio lol. Would like to try it on NS.
My HP touchpad has that stupid Beats audio and it sucks. My Nexus S with sony headphones (MDR-ex300sl) and Voodoo + DSP Manager sound wayyyyy better than Beats.

No "we" don't. Beats is nothing but anecdotal garbage.
All "Beats Audio" is, is a multiband compressor much like all the other "audio enhancement" crap (i.e Creative X-FI Crystalizer, Alpine's Media Expander, Sony's DM+ Advanced, etc), making certain frequencies louder at the cost of others. Which incidentally reduces both clarity and soundstage. Unfortunately, human hearing can sometimes perceive louder volume as better sound.

Particularly in the case of beats, and bass is pumped up at the severe cost of mid and high tones. Which is why I don't use my wife's beats headphones.

Hello,
I'm wondering what EQ settings are best for all types of music.?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
Use your ears. Some people like to have a lot of bass, and some like to have small amounts or even none. Plug your headphones in and adjust it until you like how it sounds on different songs and genres.
I don't use EQ. Makes my life simple. The settings in Voodoo control is enough for my ears.

The ones picked by the recording engineer during the tracking session.
I prefer a flat EQ a well, but that is because I want to hear the track how the artists/engineers intend. I have ultimate ears triple fi 10 in-ears and they sound amazing. But it takes some getting used to the sound since most people are not used to hearing super clear mids and highs
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Save up for decent equipment and use no EQ at all. DSP effects ruin sound fidelity. As mentioned above, get used to listening to music the way it was intended by the artists and sound engineers that recorded it.
And here I was staying on Cm7 just for the DSP manager

I add bass, lots of it, but maybe I should stop using DSP
also Alan, DSP can be had on any ROM I'm on touchwiz ATM

i have something i want to share and i think its worth throwing out there:
i have spent the day researching beats and what beats actually does for HTC devices in general. honestly, i can now say that i have no urge to pursue implementing beats into the rom. the next build will be removing beats and adding in performance tweaks instead. here are a few of my reasons below:
1. beats ONLY works with the HTC music app. i would rather use google music/pandora for my music.
2. i would rather use an EQ tool and have an enhanced sound across the whole device and not on just the music app
3. based on various items i have read from several different sources, beats is just a gimmicky bass enhancer. nothing you cant get from a decent EQ.
in my research, its not worth it.

I never used EQ on my devices and never ever used the stock head phones that come with the devices either.
I prefer my own headphones rather then the crap you get with the phones. Never used by BB headset or my SGS headset and don't like the Raiders headset.
EQ is a gimmicky in my opinion that is not needed with good headphones.

Hello everybody,
I'm pretty new to this device since i have swapped it two days ago so I would like a question about audio quality.
With the stock rom I had pre-installed the audio quality was samsung standard: not good but at least audible.
I moved to another rom (Overcome 7 v 4.1.0) which kernel supports voodoo sound.
I was really shoked when i listened to a song for the first time: bass and mid-ranges were just fine as voodoo makes them while highest pitches (and voice too) seems like playing miles away from me: they get all muffled whitout any apprent reason!
I double checked it wasn't a problem of my headset plugging them into my galaxy s and listening to the same song flawlessly.
Did anybody experienced this problem too?

True, much better with that.
Speakers volume
I have the same Tab with Overcome 4.1.0. It is a low volume level of speakers for making or recieving calls. Do you know what a problem is?

LOL, that isn't a solution!
Audio should be clear before applying any other effects (dsp or equalizing).
Btw I finally got the solution: it was all fault of Samsung's crappy headset!
I replaced with another set from another brand and it all works like a charm now!
Mods, you can close this thread.
Thinking about flashing beats audio. I already have voodoo sound.Which the difference detween them? Which is better? They are both sound amplifiers?
I dont know whether beats audio works on 2x but voodoo does work. Plus DSPManager along with Voodoo makes music complete. One more PLUS LG'S default music player is very high audio quality music player with lib dependent HW equalizing unlike other players which uses cpu for DSP.
So in summary,
LG music player + voodoo + dspmanager thats way enough for an ear

1) v20q rom+stock kernel
2) beats audio
3) dsp manager: bass boost moderate+rock eq
Results: Listening to Metallica, and surprisingly superb..
Wish Jason Newstead's bass sound a bit clearer..

According to supercurio, The Creator of voodoo, he said beats makes no diferrence, he measured it. Also I would really believe something really optimised to our phones, to our hardware.
Anyway, if beats do something(which I dont believe), it would be just some software enhancement like equalizer or anything faulting the clearness of the sound.
Just my opinion based on my logic.

I think its not which one is the best.. its about which is convenient to users. For me, the Beats Audio advantage is we dont need another app to configure it, as Voodoo we do need the app to activate it.
Just flash Beats Audio, install DSP Manager and find your settings. (To me, its simpler)..

Yea it does. I've tried pretty much everything (acid audio, king beats, beats louder) and in my opinion, the combo in pimp my ROM is the best. I do the bravia engine2, pimp my beats, and xloud clear audio
I've been using Awesome Beats by ...Awesome... setup is tricky at first but the customization is amazing. Using BT with Jbl On Tour and beats ear buds. Pandora, Walkman, Google Music, SiriusXM all sound amazing. Just gotta pay $4 and you get updates as he rolls then out.

I beg to differ, I know for a fact the x-loud mod modifies audio lib files for louder and better sounding music and notifications, it also has various other modifications to unleash the quality of music while impacting battery life ever so slightly.

Agreed.. You can add all the new libraries etc all you want because in the end what really matters is the DAC and if the DAC sucks, so will your audio quality and the Tegra DAC is awful.. But what do you want for a $250 tablet. ?
For my car I use my Nexus 7 and use my headunits EQ for dealing with the bad tegra DAC
For a walkman I use my Nexus S because it has a wolfson DAC and it's absolutely incredible and no EQ needed as it actually makes it worse
For home audio (when not playing through my PC) I use my Nexus 10 which also has a wolfson DAC and is incredible and no EQ needed as it actually makes it worse.

That looks similar to dsp manager from cm, a little TOO similar....
Looks like BS to me, like most of these sound mods going around, ESPECIALLY ones that use beats to market themselves.
Beats is Sh*t.
Edit: just had a quick look there and it's plain to see that this beats whatever is a blatant rip off of dsp manager.

Best audio you can get from an N7 is not to use it for serious audio purposes. Use something else if you're serious about sound. It will never be good, no matter what mod or headphones.
Dang someone's critical. It's not the same lib files check out how many modified dsp managers you can find and get back to me. I just appreciate that it works as promised.

I use the Fiio E11 coupled with a pair of Audio Technica m50s for hardware, and Neutron for my player. While they are right about the Nexus 7 not being able to create audiophile level quality sound, my ears enjoy this setup. YMMV
I like the nexus 7 sound. Use poweramp, a great set of wesc cans, and use FLAC files for all my tunes. Can`t complain at all.

If you really want quality sound w/headphones, otg cable to external DAC is the way to go! Need to be rooted and have the poitee, trinity 7 or Timur's Kernel. Much better with a decent DAC than any equalization or software mod. I'm listening to Joe Lovano's latest album right now on my Shure SHR-940's ->FiiO e10-> USB otg -> N7. Sounds really good.
