Follow the root method in this thread but the last step flash Boogs cwm KH3 kernel found in his thread or on my drop box account here
I don't understand, what do I flash and do I flash it over stock kh3? Also what do I use to flash it? Please help me and thanks

Use Odin with Fugu, wait for red fish, then reflash the original UCKH3 kernel. Put the root.tar in the pda slot and click start then put the original.tar in the pda slot and click start.

Yes, flash over the stock KH3.
Root method:
1. Extract and open Odin3 v1.81.zip and place the zImage-root.tar file in the pda slot.
2. Connect your phone to your PC.
3. Put your phone into download mode (Same as eclair/froyo 3-button combo or adb reboot download)
4. Phone will boot and show the fugu fish.
5. Power off and put your phone into download mode.
6. Place the zImage-original.tar file in the pda slot and hit start. Phone will reboot.
7. You are now rooted with Stock 2.3.4 Gingerbread.

You aren't flashing over it. Just flashing a kernel. You can use Odin OR heimdall. Just follow the intructions and remember to use the KH3 with cwm i linked
Now I get it lol thanks for all your help.

Hi,
this might be a stupid question but i want to sell my galaxy s and i need to flash a stock rom. Clockwork recovery is installed (and should stay installed) - so how do I "re-stock" my galaxy?
Its a JPY-Version.
Thanks!
download JPY from www.samfirmware.com
boot into download mode
load JPY into ODIN (usually pda)
Hit start.
Do factory reset
JOB DONE !
Thanks. Is there a way without using ODIN? Maybe download an update.zip somewhere and flash it with clockwork?

But why You dont want to use Odin? It's Samsung's softeare so it is safe and when your phone will be bricked by offivial software you still have your guarantee.

Far as I know, no one has every made a update.zip file that contains only stock firmware files. They ones available always contain CF root or some other custom rooting kernel.
Also, why do you wish to keep CWM recovery? It's hardly stock in that case.
Are their any Once -Click root programs that would work to root captivate gingerbread kf1?
Not that i know. But use this thread's root method. Don't know if there is an easier one but that one works fine.

to clarify. I put phone in download mode-flash "zImage.tar." unplug phone let it reboot- turn off again-put it in download mode and flash "kernal kf1.tar" wait to reboot- then done?
Download mode. Flash z image. Your phone will bootloop the fugu fish, pull out battery then download mode again and flash KF1 kernel. That should give you root stock KF1.

my friend wants to change the rom on his stock i9000
is there a tutorial or app that can root, install CWM, etc so that i can just boot into CWM and flash a new rom?
thanks
EDIT:
from a quick read, do i do this?:
. Rooting your phone and flashing a custom Kernel.
3.1. Download your preferred kernel (the version for Odin, not the one for CWM).
3.2. Open up Odin or Heimdall.
3.3. Put you phone into "Download mode" and connect it to your computer (DO NOT CONNECT THE PHONE BEFORE OPENING ODIN OR THIS WILL NOT WORK).
3.4.1. If you are using Heimdall, unpack your kernel until you end up with a file called zImage. Select that in Heimdall in the box for "Kernel (zImage)" and click Start.
3.4.2. If you are using Odin, select the file you downloaded in the PDA box and click Start.
3.5. After your Phone reboots, go into "Recovery mode" and go to "Advanced Speedmod ULK features" -> "ROOT / Install Superuser".
3.6. After rebooting the phone again, you should have root permissions.

If it's stock, flash ramads jvt with odin. You'll then have a rooted rom with cwm recovery.

Yep. That's correct.
Is he on gingerbread, if so follow the above process - you may need to flash a rooted kernel (chainfires would probably be best) afterwards as pda in odin.
If not on gingerbread, it may be quicker to flash milky's rom, it's got odin and full instructions in the download, and gb bootloaders.

your going to have to explain this to me, im really confused now
It's best to flash to the latest stock rom before installing a custom rom. Ramads jvt is deodexed but does not have root - so if you flash jvt, you will need to flash CFroot kernel after for root and cwm.
Ramads jvt does not have gingerbread bootloaders, so if it is on froyo or eclair, gb bootloaders will be needed.
If all this seems a pain, milky's rom is odin flashable, has bootloaders, root, cwm and also has odin and full instructions in the download.
Hope this is more clear.

Yes I can, I tried to downgrade to GB but it failed as well :/
I don't really clearly understood your issue.
But if you want to flash a Stock ICS Rom, start ODIN PC, start your SGNote in download mode (button volume down + home + power), then connect your SGNote to your PC and flash via ODIN PC.
If you don't know exactly how to use ODIN PC, check tutos on the forum.

Reinstall your ADB/USB drivers, make sure you're using USB2.0 port - for me USB3.0 always results in failed flash, ultimately switch USB ports.

The file you download from dr. Ketan is a .rar file, unzip it once and you get a .tar file. Flash that file with Odin in pda section. So don`t unzip the .tar file again.

To start with - you need root to flash this custom ROM, so unrooting your device was a mistake, you have to root it again.
Now, i've never flashed Criskelo's ROM, but from what i've read in the thread, you need to root your device, flash Chainfire's ICS repack via mobile odin, and then flash criskelo rom via CWM. Do not unpack the .zip file, you need to point CWM to that file.

There's a guide in the Dev section (stickied).. a little reading goes a long way!
Basically it's gonna look like this: Stock KK4 w/o BLs with Odin -> Corn kernel with Odin 1.85 (go in recovery to get root) -> Flash custom ROM as per their instructions -> Enjoy!
So yeah, little rundown but you have some reading to do to make sure you understand what you are doing.
Since u r runnin android 2.3.4 then u have gb bootloaders so u r good concerning that.
Simply Odin flash the .tar packaged KK4 Corn Kernel version 7.0A , afterwards reboot into the cwm recovery and install ur rom of choice that u should have copied to ur internal sdcard by now, per said rom's install instructions. (u will have to select to install it twice) Success.
--- Option is there, in the advanced cwm recovery menu, to gain Root access. But the big unrealized fact to a lot of users is that u actually don't need to have Root in order to flash a Developer's Rom. If u follow the method i just laid out.---

I'd say to retry flashing Corn kernel with Odin 1.85 (don't forget the .pit)
If that doesn't work, flash stock KK4 without BLs, then reflash Corn kernel with Odin 1.85.

The .pit file.
When you use Odin 1.85, you need 2 files to flash a kernel: .tar and .pit
Your flash most likely didn't work cause you didn't have the .pit file (hence why I said a little reading goes a long way).
It can either be found in here (little search) or on the samsung website.
EDIT: here it is: http://www.droidevelopers.com/attac...752561-[download]-ops-pit-files-s1je4.pit.rar
If you don't know how to use Odin, there are plenty of videos on youtube. Please take time to really understand what you're doing otherwise you'll end up with a paperweight in your hands.

No, when using Odin 1.85, you put the .tar file in the PDA and the .pit file in the PIT.
Flashing Corn kernel will give you a cwm recovery and you won't need to root, just flash the ROM you want to as per their instructions.
