Have any one can confirm that this is true?

c'mon =.=
It seems to depend on what you use to set the wallpaper. Default Gallery does a terrible job, where using QuikPic the outcome is much better.
Wallpaper Set & Save is the best bet. I have no idea why the disparity between apps though.

Id love this or probably an application that handles static wallpapers better and does not crop it to pixelation hell!

There is no need to crop. you can pinch zoom your wallpaper to the maximum.

Mine wallpapers doesn't look pixelated, but you can try Wallpaper Set And Save from the market. Even it says it wont work on 2.1, but it does. It works on my phone and keeps the picture sharp. Just remember to use only 960x800 wallpapers on it.
I miss the feature on the symbian phones that I just throw in any sized wallpaper and it scales them accordingly to the screen resolution..

Not when I used it. Sure you can apply any size of wallpaper and it fits the screen. Is that good? Then it will look even more stretched/receded. Or how does it make the wallpaper to fit perfectly on screen, if you have 1280x800 wallpaper?
A new feature in new firmwares?
Lately I've noticed that my Milestone has some problems with displaying colors.
I have attached the screenshot of my home, where you can see terrible transitions between similar hues.
lso, there is wallpaper file attached, which seems to be okay to me.
Is it common with those screens or it's just my Milestone?
my milestone does the same :/ could it be that it does not have 16 million colors?
24 bit images on a 16 bit display will cause the banding you see.

i find it weird that no reviews mentions this or even the specifications sheet, :/ the desire has an 24 bit display?
That's what I thought, pretty much.
Still, it being not mentioned is strange, as it seems to be fairly serious issue. Unless it's possible to convert images with no quality loss visible on the screen.
The proper term is dither, in cyanogen you can enable surface dithering in cyanogen mod settings > performance which should improve image quality at the cost of performance. Not sure about other roms.

im curious to know about the display used in the droid 2 and droid x, the htc desire, are they using a 24 bit display now?
The Droid/Milestone does have a 24-bit display: http://www.displaymate.com/Motorola_Droid_ShootOut.htm
In fact, the Droid 2 uses the same LCD.
That gradient problem with your image is probably caused by several problems:
1. The picture is not a true 24-bit image.
2. Google's Gallery is limited to 16-bit!
The Milestone/Droid has one of the finest LCDs on the market, and if it had not been so expensive when it was first released in Canada ($600!), I would have bought it in a heartbeat, despite the locked bootloader.
EDIT: I've just examined the photo on my 24-bit Aquos, and it looks perfectly smooth, so the problem is being caused by Android 2.1. FroYo's Gallery is also limited to 16-bit.
So what gallery could I use to put wallpapers on?
Flikie does pretty much the same, as it uses Froyo gallery.
Well, it seems that application named Wallpaper Set and Save (find it in market, it's free) is the easy way out.
This app lets you set the 24-bit wallpaper keeping the desired quality, more or less.
Though, it may make Launcher Pro FC a couple of times right after setting the new wallpaper, then it works flawlessly.

if the 16 bit problem is androids fault how could google not fix this in 2.2? so thats why a lot of of phones use a different gallery than the stock, im surprised this isnt mentioned more often

Yeah, I agree. Apparently, Samsung's Galaxy S Gallery is a bit better. Not truly 24-bit, but the Galaxy S adds improved dithering. The Galaxy S, with all of the hype about SAMOLED, is not even a real 24-bit display You Milestone/Droid/Droid 2 folks have the best Android screen, IMO.

True.
Google is not eager to tell you the answer if you don't exactly know what you are looking for. And for non-technical people it may be hard to guess.

Hello, I am searching for a smooth photo browser for my Xoom. All I tried were laggy, or not HD, even the stock photo browser is laggy.
Can anyone help me to find a smooth HD photo browser ?
Thanks !
QuickPic from Market. Free and Best.
Quickpic is nice but very very laggy... Not smooth at all.

If anyone else know a very smooth photo browser I would be glad to know ...
Quickpic is very good on my Xoom, no lag, smooth transitions. You must have something taking CPU in the background. Unless of course you have 24Mpixel pics or similiar, in which case any Arm device will struggle.
Another +1 for quickpic

No, I have nothing running in background. Even no Widgets, or no animated background. I want my Xoom (running Honeycomb 3.2) to be as smooth as possible, so I'm very concerned by the background apps.
Quickpic is a nice app, but when I pinch to zoom, or when I let slide my photos, it's a bit laggy, not smooth. I don't understand why it would be smooth on your Xooms.
Would ICS let quickpic run smoother than on honeycomb ?

I have to say ICS is MUCH smoother in my opinion. Especially the EOS custom ICS rom. It is very snappy and responsive.

For the most part I'd say so. There have been a few apps that I've run into that aren't quite compatible with ICS, but otherwise all is well.

I use photo slides u can also dock and have it cycle through like an electronic pic frame '''''''' get ics rom like the others said such a difference over clock bam good to go

+1 for photo slides. I'm on ICS team EOS nightlies and it super smooth in the app.
Large Image Viewer is the best for large image with smooth edges
Market link Click Here
Large image viewer crashes on my xoom with HC 3.2.1.
About photo slides, I don't like its ergonomy. I could display one picture but didn't find how to zoom. I also found annoying the need of selecting each picture one by one to display a full folder.

with photo slide, you can only choose it when docked, if you are rooted?
no u don't need to be rooted to dock just start app u can also use app Tasker and have it go through lock screen force start on dock I just recommend the ics root for stability and performance and custom options the nightlys are pretty much stable for all stuff

Our device has got one of the highest pixel densities out there with a large screen to boot, meaning most things look like garbage on it.
If you find any higher-res live wallpapers out there on the market, post links to them here and I'll keep the OP updated.
Thanks!
Paperland Pro Live Wallpaper - due to it's simplicity, the wallpaper still looks petty good
Mystic Halo Live Wallpaper - has a setting for hd phones, actually looks pretty great
The Nautilus - really fun with a lot of touch controls
Video Live Wallpaper - Set your own or selected videos to loop; pretty great
