I am thinking of buying my neighbor's phone but I do not know if it is fixable. They have a TMobile HD7 and everytime the phone is turned on(as in battery removed or died or shutoff) it does a factory reset before loading up and everything is lost.

I've recently installed the Core Media Player??? used it once or twice I believe then it crashed and wouldnt work anymore. I uninstalled it a day or two ago. Today my screen keeps freezing every few minutes after a soft reset ... it appears to have resolved it self for now but I'd like to know what happened.....

Hey guys, i have had the thrill since release date and about a month ago started having problems with data. when i turn on the screen, it shows that im connected to hspa+, but wont get the send and receiving of data arrows to light up. I usually wait about a minute with it trying to get data before i turn off the screen and on again. Usually I just solve the problem by rebooting the phone. This has really started to make me mad and made me want to sell this phone. Its pointless to have a phone in which you only get data half the time you turn the screen on. Any advice would be helpful, thanks.
Just did a nandroid backup, ill see if it improves anything

check your data usage, i got throttle a lot after hitting 5Gb in two weeks.
i'm having the same problems with my phone... i've got unlimited data too so i didn't figure it should be a problem. I'm new to the androids so i don't get what the whole up/down arrows are but it seems if i go from a wifi spot to a non wifi spot my internet shuts off.
No Data
I had the exact same problem about 2 weeks ago. I called customer service they had me hard reset, which resulted in the same problem. Then I they had me factory reset, after the factory reset I was going through the Android setup process when the setup force closed. This basically soft bricked the phone. I would go into recovery then factory reset the phone again, they same result. Just a black screen, with the home keys lit up. I was able to get a new phone through warranty. I am hoping for this one to die as well and be done with this nightmare of a POS phone.

Hi I'm having this issue like a month ago and I already did the hard reset and nothing happened I'm thinking about flash it to see if it works
Another issue I have is that everytime I restart my phone the phone forgets my wifi network so I have to type it everytime, another thing is that the phone delete the contact I don't know why
Is there something I can fry before I flash it?
Ive had this phone since day one, and i can atest that after a past update the phone started overheating and shutting down when downloads write to the phone and the phone starts an update, it'll shut down in the middle of an update.
Then recently the phone overheats and shuts off when im recording video, and of course when im updating apps. I have to put the phone in the freezer or fridge just to keep it from shutting off in the middle of a crucial update.
I've come to the conclusion, either the phone cant handle the clocking up during tasks, or theres something with the storage chip. Anyone else having this issue?
Have you tried wiping the cache partition in Recovery Mode? If that doesn't work then I would recommend that you backup your device and perform a hard factory reset. If that doesn't work then your device if faulty and needs to be repaired
I've done everything, reset, cache, odin reflash, wrote to sd cards instead, turned on/off power saving.... same thing, it overheats and shutdowns especially if its hot outside, i cant do anything with it.
just wondering if anyone else has had this issue, started happening after a system update a while back, found that kind of funny and convenient.
interested to try a custom rom, but dont know if i can even modify this latest firmware
Have you tried performing a Hard Factory reset on your device? If this happened after a recent OS update then that might solve your issue.
Hi all,
After a not so smooth transition to Oppo, yesterday I almost collapsed when I looked at my phone and saw the config assistant starting.
I've left the phone unattended during around 2 hours and for some reason a factory reset was performed. I know that to perform a factory reset you need to input the password, so it's out of question that was done by one of the kids (they are 4 and 7). So, the real question is:
1) Did anyone experienced this before?
2) Could overheat cause a factory reset?
I know that all my data was lost but most was recovered. Unfortunately, all the files in the hard drive are vanished forever...

Did you recover a backup or clone from old to new phone?
If this process does not complete successfully, you can end up back at the start of the wizard.
Once a restore or copy from old phone has completed "successfully" I cannot see any way the phone would auto factory reset.
No, I've managed to recover some of the data but for some reason I couldn't recover it all - the files in the local drive were lost forever...
The weird thing is why or how did the auto factory reset happened.
