No idea who you are addressing, but I think most carriers offer a free sim unlock after some time on their contract. And it is unlikely that sim unlocks will ever be offered for free online because there is a lot of money to be made from that business.

Android. The theif.

Doesn't anyone find it odd that we are paying out huge sums of cash for a Linux based OS that is free to use?
Because the cost of the handset doesn't factor into it at all :face palms:
I mean they handed us a broken toy and we fixed it for them with no pay and they sold it back to us as an update, now we are fixing it up more. Hopefully when Android 114.6 rolls out some devs. will for a union of some kind and make some cash from big business instead of settling for the 2.99 that their brothers and sisters are downloading.
Next time put the bong down and think before posting.
Here's your basic argument in another context:
The internet is free so why do we spend so much money on computers to browse web pages?
You fail. Thanks for playing.

Oh, no kidding, I had totally forgotten that hardware costs money somewhere on the road to neverland .
Compare prices for free vs paid OS on the same specs. Shouldn't there be a decent difference between the two?

You fail, pretty damn horribly when you buy computers specifically, I have bought every computer I have ever owned without an OS and it has been cheaper than one with it.

Ok we whatever, I just got an Android phone and I hate it so I'm gonna get something windows. This is my first experience with Linux on a handset and if the developers wanna get screwed let them, forming union isn't hard we did it where I work, well we joined one but it makes everything a dev does worth money. But who is it that decides the devs have been screwed. Is it you? I think that honor goes to each individual who bought the phone. You don't get to determine that someone else has been screwed just because your panties are in a bunch over something related to your phone.
The cost of a non open source operating system on a phone is going to be so heavily subsidized, I'd be surprised if the additional cost was more than a couple of dollars/pounds/whatever. Bottom line is that you're just paying for the device whichever route you take.
Also consider how long android has been out, it is definitely the quickest maturing mobile platform around. Anyone remember the state wm was in at this age?
Edit: I think the developers would rather be "screwed" as you put it in order to bring about progress in a timely manner. That's what open source is all about!

First off, that's a toaster I want.
Second off, you're absolutely right. It's not about the money, it's about taking your phone to the next level and being able to say you were the one who got it there first. I and thousands of others have nothing but respect for these developers and a lot of us give them both props and donations for their work. I'm sure the donations are nice, but I doubt there are many devs on XDA who started writing ROMs and compiling kernels because they thought it would make them rich.
Don't understate the motivational power of random people coming into your thread to say "Your work is awesome, keep it up, and how cool would it be if it did this too?" For some people the respect is all they need, since genuine respect can't be bought, it can only be earned.

Nope. If people choose not to spend the time to learn how to do things themselves for free or little cost and would rather pay somebody else to do things for them, that's their affair.

Hi ,
Your explanation does not sound right. ?
You got phone "really cheap" ,
Phone has a Google email address.....
whose . E-mail ? Seller ?
Why don't you ask seller for password etc etc
Sounds like it could have been lost or stolen phone ?
In that case nobody on XDA will assist you .
Um what r u talking about lol? I got a cheap note with a clean imei. The dude prob forgot to turn his email off. I didnt ask questions since i paid less than the parts are worth, so it was a low risk buy. The guy left town and theres no way to reach him.
Either way my story isnt revelant. R u going to give me any useful info or just waste my time?

To be fair, the other user was not disrespecting you. He provided a legitimate answer of you contacting the seller. Xda does not allow tools that circumvent the lock you mention of. This question has been asked before and will always get the same response. No one on here is going to help you break security measures, even if the phone was acquired through legal and legitimate channels.

What kind of dumbass answer is that to "contact the seller"? Do you think im like a retarded child (or an apple user) lol? Why would that not be the first thing I would do instead of going on the internet and asking an android forum on alternatives?
If nobody was going to help me, then save your breathe by taking your time to say anything. Especially a bunch of stupid crap. And yes I will have a wonderful day not having any responses from any useless people. You all know the security features on any smartphones are total crap and are designed to get more people to spend money so enough with acting like your above everyone about it.

'sigh' Regardless of your opinion, the lock was designed as a deterrent to criminals. Phones can be bought for cheap and not encounter these locks, through websites like Swappa. Even if there were means to bypass it, why would anyone here trust that you acquired the device through legitimate means? You are a new user, and frankly rude and disrespectful to anyone that responds. I'm sorry, but even if there is a way to help, you give us no incentive to help you.

Im being "rude and disrespectful" since your acting like a jackass. I have worked for a major tech company and thats bull**** that locks are used to deterrent criminals since any criminal with a brain knows how to get around locks. The Note 5 on ATT is the only one I have had any issues with while almost every other Samsung device is extremely easy to bypass. Locks are designed to piss users off and lock idiots out of their devices so they can go and spend more money. Apple sells their customers databases to people for money instead of unlocking people's devices who accidentally got locked out of their stuff, so yes thats total bull**** that they are designed to protect the user. They love telling old people who dont know what day it is that they screwed up because their brain wasnt able to remember a hundred passwords and that they have to now shell out another few hundred dollars for more crap.
And why would you trust that I acquired a device through legitament means? Well I would say that it would mean that your a decent human being who gives people the benefit of the doubt, but considering your sitting on here just arguing with someone you dont even know like an asshole, I cant give you that much credit.

I Know that this is a very old thread. Your best bet is to either buy a octopus or something like it. They do various different things to Samsung and other phones. Imei resets, frp lock bypass etc. ( or pay someone who has the equipment already. Like [email protected] he can do it through your computer. But he will not touch a stolen phone.. Ok so if you have a blacklisted imei he will know.

Xda, funky huawei and mate 10

Hello everybody,
I’m starting this threat because I’m very angry. When I began with rooting smartphones, xda was(and still is) the best forum in the world. And do you know what was best? Everything was free. You could donate the developers, but you don’t have to. And for me, I prefer to spend a beer to a good nice hard working guy, then a must pay. Now in the new times there are some guys(funky huawei) that are making money with newbies that don’t know it better. In my opinion we should kick their asses out of xda, delete their threats and let them just have their own page. We(the members) should work together to solve our problems and help the newbies to get more knowledge. Because we should never forget, we all were new in the beginning?
In my case, debranding the mate 10 pro is not as easy as with the P10. Imei in oeminfo, after debranding the unlock code has changed, huawei closes their unlock page for our bootloader, etc. This are big problems and like I said, we should solve them together. Developers, testers and newbies; an old big xda family.
I know that some guys will hate me because of this threat, but it must be said. Thank you all for your time
Regards Marc
I agree.

FunkyHuawei is nothing but a scam to get newbies to pay money, and make it harder on other dev's (collaborating to better the community etc)
I too agree.
Funky Huawei Is Scam with cheater duaraa

Thank for saying that.

Completely agree!! Been coming to XDA since the days of my first android phone, the HTC Desire HD. Then through various Samsung and Sony phones and I now have the Mate 10 pro. Never before have I been asked to pay for anything for any of those other phones. It seems that the Mate 10 is easy to brick or requires a bit more work to do things that were easy on other phones. Funky Huawei have pounced on this and found a way to unbrick it and make money rather than giving the solution out here for free like it should be done.
What I am wondering sice quite some time, how are those guys able to offer official Huawei FW that is not officially shared by Huawei!!??
e.g. you can easily instal FW (C141) with April Security patch while official FW is still on March....
Is FunkyHuawei part of Huawei's business model, selling FW to desperate users that are tired to wait for an OTA....and making additional money?!
In addition why is the FunkyHuawei FW approved for installation while the one you get through Firmware Finder isn't......strange.....
completely agree
@Coredown, I understand what you are trying to say but I totally disagree with you !!!
To put some background before I begin... I consider myself a "poweruser", I am a senior member here and owned a big bunch of android devices from lots of makers and Windows mobile devices before...
During all this years I did some weard stuff (like editing a sdcard with hexa to make it goldcard, wiretrick htc, I even put my wife G3 in a hoven for the soldering issue) so no newbie here (you can check my posts history).
And guess what, for my mate 10 pro I choose to pay FH to rebrand and flash... Why ?
I could have gone thrue the painfull process of manual BL unlock and flash and work and work and flash as I did for my other phones and tablet (yeah I still use my Touchpad) and watches...
FH proposed me a fast, safe, reliable way to rebrand with big chances of not voiding warranty (anyway they need to prove it if the phone got something wrong (it is not registred at Huawei as unlock).
OK they are making money with it but I am sure they are working a lot to develop stuff and hosting servers and maintaining it and also support users.
So what's the big deal ??? I don't see the problem as it is one of the options proposed here and everyone from newbie to advance user can choose the method he prefers
And I don't see why they should be banned ? You think like if they where banned it will stop exist and you'll feel better ?
Does it hurt your feeling knowing that some people (including me) can sometimes pay to save some time and avoid some troubles ?
It is sure that I would have rather the same FH solution for free if it has been available but world ain't perfect.
I am no developper but if you are feel free to develop your own free tool for huawei and distribute it and ask for donations... Then FH will loose all their newbies customers and go out of business and you'll be like king here
Don't take it the wrong way I just don't like the all "I don't like that so we should ban them"

D'accord! I totally agree with him.
Just because FunkyHuawei is a paid service it doesn't mean you should hate it.
I can't afford it so I'll find other ways to fix my device. Shouldn't that be a good motivation to start learning how to use developer tools?
if you do not like funkyhueawei do not use it
I understand both sides of the argument....who doesn't like "free" help, and software? But I also believe that much of what many expect takes a great deal of time and effort...not to mention knowledge of how things work. If the people at Funky rely on their services to put food on the table, and pay their mortgage, then more power to them! I know it can be frustrating knowing there's an answer to your problem available, but you have to pay for it, and maybe you can't afford it...but if that's the case then maybe you shouldn't tinker with what you don't understand without the knowledge to fix it for free! I work in IT. I produce nothing tangible. I get paid for my knowledge. I see no problem that Funky wants to get paid for their knowledge. If someone else can do what they do and provide it all for free, then go for it!
I feel its against the ethics/spirit of XDA, but good on them if they're making money off the back of it.
What usually happens (used to be with carrier unlocking), the non free tools tend to have a short shelf life as more and more free tools arrive
It's amazing how some people defend FH without even knowing what's really behind this "business".
People talking about FH being paid for knowledge... selling software/firmware that's not your intelectual property and you got for free it's sometimes calked steeling.
Using other people work without giving at least credits to the original developers/owners is also a nice example of good ethics.
Storing your personal data/files on their server without asking permission or advise users it's a shady behavior.
FH reporting people for copyright violations when they shared a firmware for free on XDA , just because people behind FH are too greedy to accept that a firmware is out without users paying 10 euro for it. And for a firmware that's not even their intelectual property.Well, you can share what they are steeling, that's their ethics. So, XDA is not about sharing anymore?
I find all this strange, because if a developer, which really used his knowledge to develop an app, advertise his work on XDA will get warned and his thread will be closed after a few hours, but not Funky, no, he's special.
I agree

My answer to Huawei Unlock "Service"

I hope to find support inside the community of all xda-developers. For months I looked at different Top Smartphone models. I have now decided on 01 September for a Huawei P20 Pro. The hardware is convincing.
Shock! they don't give out bootloader unlock code anymore. So the hardware is worthless. My company forbids me to use software with Google or other Cloud applications as a working tool. And honestly, I don't want that either.
So there I am sitting on a 1000 USD expensive piece of ****.
I have made a video where I beat the new beautiful useless piece of dirt with a hammer and burn afterwards.
This is very promotional and recorded with my (rooted) ASUS Phone
Who would like to support me and send videos or post them on Youtube. I make a nice website where all videos are collected and invest another 1000 USD to get on Google at place 1. I need at least 1000 videos
I need your support. Think of something nice to rape and abuse a Huawei Phone. Make a nice movie and show what you think of Huawei.
I have started a contribution on Reddit hoping to find broad support. I have been deceived. worthless hardware and lost a lot of money. :crying:
So you destroyed your phone (that you paid for - and that Huawei already has the money for) to show them.
And you would like others to buy a phone and destroy it. How will that hurt them exactly?
First Nike, then this.. **sigh**
The way you think and what you typed in your post dropped my IQ to zero.. thank you.

The internet is now full of people who feel the same way as I do. Individually Huawei will tell everyone that YOU CUSTOMERS are worth nothing and YOU CUSTOMERS have no rights. Only together are we strong. We need a ****storm.

It is very painful ... Yes.
today a "quick" google search still results in hundreds, if not thousands of instructions how to unlock the bootloader ... that's why I bought this. And now ??
Afterwards one is always smarter.
another Google search results that I am not the only one. I can't imagine that the development community is very enthusiastic about it.
So why didn't you just put it back into the box and sold it as new, unused, just too big for my taste or something? Or if you bought it online, why didn't you just return it as it's not working as you intended? Why destroying the value of the phone and then search for revenge afterwards? Just doesn't make sense.

I live in Southeast Asia in the middle of the jungle. The people here earn as much as this thing costs per year. Sending it back is also not so easy if you bought it in Hong Kong and you come back in 3 months.
Guys, thanks for the advice. But I want to fight. I won't put up with it. Otherwise I could have bought an IPhone. Probably nobody wants that here.

Your device is surely unlocked.
I want to see your face when they come up with the idea to check online if something is "manipulated" and just block your device.
Because this is the next step that comes.

If you get cheated, don't you go against it?
Sad

Doesn't particularly bother me because I did my research before purchasing my phone and obtained my unlock code shortly after receiving my device. The company can do what they want. Not everything will please everyone and its not always a smart decision on their part, but research is key when looking into a phone especially when you're wanting to unlock and modify the system. Sucks you were too late to the party, but you'll just have deal with it and the smart decision on your part should have been to sell your device and buy one that pleases you instead of destroying a perfectly good bit of hardware
No unlock code = hardware is worthless
What have you been smoking?
Another useless post from a useless user...... USELESSSSSSSSSSSSS

I think it's better to spam Huawei's support's mailbox with a petitions for bringing bootloader unlocking option back.
@DestroyHuawei
Feel for you mate.
You live and you learn.
Huawei stopped this a while back (learning that is, that and unlocking bootloaders)
Next time you commit a lot of money to a mobile device you'll research first.
Research, then research again, its just like anything else, you wouldn't buy a car because it sounded good, you'd want to know the pros and cons.
With that being said..
Where is this video of you beating your phone to death. Id love to see it
Sorry

Talking about your IQ or my IQ is something we better not do in public.
Your device is surely unlocked.
I want to see your face when they come up with the idea to check online if something is "manipulated" and just block your device.
Because this is the next step that comes.
"We've discovered that your device has been tampered with. For your security we have locked your phone. Please do not call Huawei Support"
Just a thought game.
