Iv been thinkin about upgrading to the bionic but when I do id like to be able to use my old d1 for browsin the internet(mainly keepin it as a backup) what id like to do is see if there's anyway I could connect the d1 to a tether from the bionic. I know wireless tethering uses an ad-hoc connection... do y'all think bluetooth would work?
Any info would be greatly appreciated

Does anyone know if this is possible? (a non ad-hoc wifi tether for a G1/HTC Dream
Just helped a buddy root his droid. I don't have much knowledge on this device but i cant seem to get wifi tethering to work. I have tried Barnacle and wifi tether. I think i remember seeing some settings i need to change for Verizon but i can not find them. Any help is appreciated.

Assuming you already toyed with the settings in barnacle, try a different ROM/kernel setup.
Hi Guys!
Has anyone figured out how to enable the Thrill to see Ad-Hoc networks? I am writing this form my computer which is connected to my Droid 2, but my friend's Thrill 4G can't see my network. This would be rather helpful, since he only has 200MB of data, and I have unlimited.
I'm sure it'll be supported in CyanogenMod, but I don't really want to put his phone on Nightlies. That said, if there is a good stable mod that can see Ad-Hoc networks, I don't mind helping him install a rom (we already rooted his phone).
Thanks for any advice you can give me!
I've been looking for a way to connect the Thrill to AdHoc network too. I don't think it can. The Thrill can only connect to infrastructure network. It can't tether off other WiFi tethering devices. If it does, I can use WiFi Router on my Tilt2 and tether my Thrill off the Tilt2.
Thanks for the reply. I eventually got it to connect to WiFi Tether. What's annoying is that Barnacle is the only application my computer can connect to, so I have to choose between the Thrill and the Computer, or use a wired tether for the computer.
I want to use my BB as modem for DS7 since I carry unlimited plan for BB. When pairing BB with DS7, my DS7 shows 'pair but not connected'. I click on the wrench icon and could not find any option to connect.
Anyone knows how to tether BB with DS7?
Thanks in advance.
Blackberries do not allow for internet tethering as far as I know. I just got rid of a Torch 2 a couple of weeks ago and there was no option for data tethering

It works with my XP laptop via USB after installing BB Desktop application. Maybe there's no app for tethering BB/DS7.
Does your specific BB explicity state it supports BT/wifi tethering?
If it supports wifi tethering, it must also be in infrastructure mode, android doesnt really support ad-hoc without additional modifications.
Generally those are the only methods for tethering one (non-pc) device to another, as wired ones generally require additional software. (iOS and apparently bbos like you stated does, android doesnt)
According to Blackberry support website tethering is possible with both USB and Bluetooth. It seems to be an issue with Android. My DS7 is TMO 4G model. I recently upgraded to Honeycomb 3.2 thanks to The Manii.
I also tried PDAnet tether but it didn't help.

What Blackberry are you using?

Trying to find a way to tether my unrooted VZW Moto X to my nexus 7. Have used pdanet/foxfi in the past on other phones with great success so I figured I'd try. I know WiFi tether isn't supported on KitKat (according to PDAnet) and am having trouble getting the bluetooth tether to work. It shows I'm connected but can't get any data on any app.. Does anyone know if this is not possible with pdanet and kitkat, or am I being a goon... Thanks
Anyone???
