[Q] Gaming Rom - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What's the best rom for our X8s that would be ideal for gaming? Oh are there any other things like chainfire that's needed?
Sent from my X8

GingerDX.v13 can run Gangstar2!
U can also try FroyoBread, the maximum free RAM ---128.8mb.
Sorry for my bad english....because im just a taiwanese junior high school student.
Oh, if you want to play the game like dead space or gangstar2, I offer you to use Chainfire.

Do you know how I can get the gaming mode running on my touch screen? I take a can get chainfire from Google?

1.
first intstal root explorer: now go to system-apps- now unistal these:youtube, voice dialer, gmail, email and talk. all of these can be visited on browser.
NOW WHEN U GOT SOME 15+ RAM GO TO MARKET/PLAYSTORE and download chainfire3d

instal chainfire and quallcom plugin,in chainfire settings-REDUCE TEXTURE QUALITY AND USE PLUGIN->QUALLCOM.
3.
OVERCLOCKING
GO TO SETTINGS-GINGERCRUTZ SETTINGS(OR DX SETTINGS OR PRIMEHD....) AND GO TO PERFORMANCE,CPU AND TICK OVERCLOCK...(more u overclock it will be unstable and battery drain, suggest not to!)
now please run antutu benchmark and post results so i can help more and are u using stock kernel?

I did that once and did not give me very good results ...

antutu my results are around 1500 points right now (without Chainfire or overclock)
Can we help me?
Thanks you very much!
go to settings and applications->running services->HOW MUCH RAM DO YOU HAVE FREE?
PS: go write answer on your native language and google translate it please..
What kind of game?
Get a psp kthnx
First of all it would be helpful to know what device you are running.
What is the model of your Android device?
What are the basic specifications such as RAM and CPU.
My guess is that you are either low on RAM and that causes you to swap to disk or perhaps your CPU is too old and simply can't handle modern games.

Sorry but I have not insulted anyone.
I have 70mg RAM free.
I don't think there 1 app "magic".... I only asked for help...
I tell you that I did the same tutorial and I did not get any results, do it again and tell you.
Thanks you very much. (sorry for my English)
(games like cut the rope, angry birds, ¡¡¡boobleball!!!
Here's how i make my X8 much faster, no overclocking at all (so it's safe!)
Use the stock 2.1 rom, as it's the best of gaming performance!
You can downgrade by using the PC Companion (you will lose root and recovery!)
Or you can download a flashable zip with 2.1 on the XDA Fourm!
Download Cpu master free or any cpu controller of your choice.
Download Speed Booster, frees up ram
Download Advance task killer, it kills apps
Before playing a hard core game reboot (optional!)
Download Jimdroid tweaks on XDA Fourm (search it! for the X8)
Jimdroid tweaks makes you phone much faster with better coding, fixes etc.
Hope this helps! I did this and I could play:
Dead Space - No lag
Asphalt 5 - No lag
Sandstorm - No lag but slower on muitplayer
Need for speed shift - No lag
Cut the rope - No lag
Fruit Ninja (new and old) - No lag
Turbofly - No Lag
Angry birds (all ver) - No lag!
I think you can see it's effective, right?
Have fun gaming around!
I'm new to XDA!
Please press the "thanks" if i helped!
go here it helps u a lot

The best custom rom for gaming ?

Hello , i was wondering if anyone could tell me what is the best rom for gaming ? im currently on zeus 7.0 the games are running way better than my original v20c firmware but i still have some lags in games like : gangstar rio , and the amazing spider-man , and i would really like them to play a bit better , so can someone point me to a good gaming rom ? or maybe someway i could boost my gpu ? , i tried installing chainfire 3d but honestly i dont know how to use it , and one last thing what does voltage have to do with overclocking and how do i know what overclocking value suits the voltage ?
sorry for all the questions i'm still trying to get the hang of it . =/
Mercurified or Zeus hands down.
My main agenda is to help, not gain thanks.
well u get the thank yo?u anyway , but still the other questions arent answered yet :/
zeus or cm7 with boype's kernel
voltage depends on your phone itself but i keep it neutral (i.e. 0 in zeus)
Personally, I had better gaming experience with Boypes cm7 than Zeus 6.39. I have never tried Zeus 7.01 but I would like to know if its better now.

zeus 7.01 is not bad in gaming it can run the amazing spider-man pretty good , but still there are some games that lag a bit , but can anyone give me a link to byope's kernel ?

[Q] Is Chainfire 3D Safe? Formula to Improve Gaming Performance?

Hello Folks,
I`ve been on an infinite quest for having a lagless/slowness free device since I got it. In the middle of it I found out about the Chainfire 3D that could maybe help, but I also found out it`s quite risky and I haven`t found anyone who has tried it on our device yet.
Do you know of anyone who has entered in this risky path and succeeded?
I actually only want a lagless phone when it comes to gaming. I know that there are many threads about it, but believe me, I`ve read them all and all of them give only advices that helps, but don`t resolve the problem.
Don`t come with the: "the game is not yet optimized for Tegra 3", because in some cases like Shadowgun THD, the game lags anyway.
My 4X HD out of the box was terrible in gaming. Now with 10E, root access and governor/clock manipulation it's got much better, but STILL lags once in a while playing simple games like Jetpack Joyride or even Angry Birds! And LOTS of problems if you scale up to heavy games! That`s very frustrating!! :crying:
Do you guys have any formula or a way you`ve found to play games well?? If you do, please help! I`ve heard about the new updates but some people said it doesn`t really matter so, I`d rather wait for an update in my country.
Thank you!! and sorry if this is not the right place for it and for the long post!
In most phones it improves it. Not sure in the 4x because I didn't try it yet. Don't feel the desire on bricking my phone im case it won't work.

Good point, I played Shadowgun THD on Galaxy 2 and it rocks (gpu OC to 400mhz).
Thing that should help us is update o CPU-GPU governor and latest GPU drivers. Let´s hope they will come with JB or after unloced bootloader we will have great custom kernel...
I've installed on my O4X, the app Chainfire.the extra drivers. It works fine and I didn't have any weird crashes, hang-ups nor restarts. I didn't notice any improvements however.
The advice I have to offer, is to get an app like SetCPU, create a profile that will launch when you play a game, and set the governor to performance mode and lock the highest frequencies, from 1.2 to 1.5 GHz. Then it will run great. At least it does on me. From the games I've played so far, including Galaxy on Fire 2 THD, History Channel's Great Medieval Battles, NFS Most Wanted, Angry Birds Star Wars HD, Zombie Driver THD, RiptideGp, Beat Hazard Ultra, Canabalt HD,Dragon Slayer, when I start them with this profile, I don't get any lags. Remember also, that a game needs RAM memory to run fluidly. Run a utility to clear on RAM before starting a gaming session (just like a computer), or go to developper options and limit the number of background processes.
That's what I told someone too. 1500 MHz performance when playing games and then there is no issue.
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
than I have a problem, cuz I set the governor to performance - min 1500 and it reduces lag A LOT, but not all the time. I cut the ram use too.
What update are you using? Or maybe I`m missing something...
Are you sure chainfire didn`t change anything? I think I`ll give it a try!
Thanks for you help!! :cyclops:

There was a little misunderstanding here. I tried to mean I FREE some ram!
I used Chainfire on ICS with no problem, yet there was no improvements in gaming.
Tried to use it on JB V20A and it bricked my phone! Nothing a reflash couldn`t fix it, but if you`re on JB, don`t try it.

A very soft brick... Advanced restore of system in CWM Recovery should help. If there is a proper backup...
Chainfire is not compatible with any JB ROM, in fact officially it doesn't even support ICS. Wish he would update it, the msaa settings were great!

[Q] Gaming on xperia z

So I decided to write this post because I've haven't find any helpful posts about it. Sometimes I wanna take full advantage of this quad-core device
and enjoy HD games and when I say that I don't mean on sitting on it for 5hours and expect it to run all the games perfect n smooth but I wonder
why on my device (full stock) in games like gta vice city, gta III, real racing 3 even sometimes asphalt 7 I experience frame issues especially gta
vice city which I expected to run smooth when I lower graphics a bit i get so bad frame drops and the games like n. o. v. a 3 and modern combat
4 run perfectly smooth with decent Fps. So first I thought guess gta isn't maybe well optimized for xperia z but then when I searched over YouTube for some gameplay of same games they ran alot smoother on same stock version of xperia z. So what's the difference I've downloaded all the latest versions of these games restarted phone before running and disabled stamina battery mode but still the same thing. Always the same frame issuses and they are not just a little ones sometimes makes game so un enjoyable and leggy especially gta vice city. So I would appreciate any helpful opinion or advice or am I really starting to regret for getting this phone not just because few games Lagg only on my device
there are many other stuff but I won't write about them in this post ( I am running all the games from internal memory not using SD card yet) So
I wonder do I really need to root my phone and flash it with some light pure preformamce custom room to get decent preformamce of this games?
Thanks for reading and looking forward for some helpful answers thanks.
That highly depends on what apps you have installed into your phone.
Have you test with only the stock rom with default apps ?
Hmm
I consider about factory reset since to be honest most of my internal memory is filled with games I am testing and I have like only 10%free space
even less but I don't think it affects so much of preformamce of games 1gb of free space should be enough I guess as for other apps I don't really have alot of them downloaded most of them came with the phone itself. Since I am not really into all of the custom roms and all that expert I only thought about factory reset and getting decent class sd card but thought since ppl on YouTube used stock room and got smooth let's say decent
Gameplay guess I should too well. I'll wait for some more replies before factory also I am a bit worried bcs I read a post from one guy that there could some software
Problem with the phone on some1 else post that had the same problem with certain games so I am very thankful on fast thankful advices

It's affect the performance of course, also many process may occur if you have a ton of useless app on your phone, seriously 1gb free space? Ridiculous... I can't believe that you need all that space and you play all of your that games all the time.
Well the internal memory is 11,73gb with out sd card I've downloaded few hd games and few casual for testing and maybe putting video of gameplay on yt well yeah and one hd game takes 2gb like nova guess I am going for factory reset and I'll try to download gta only and see how it preforms

The lag in the games what I guess is caused by the underclocking of ur cpu due to the heating and stuff..in my xz,when I start the game everything runs smooth but after an hour or so,when the phone heats up..sometimes I feel a little lag, just a little..I play in a cooler place, the lags reduce a lot..well,every game I've ever played lagged at some point..

Yeah i know and I am fine with 1hour of gaming then make pause and let phone cool out its stasifying thought it's a quad-core device of course
It heats up but at me the game lagged even when phone wasn't hot when I started using it after night charging so I'll make factory reset when I catch some free time to day and start from fresh and will try to leave more free internal memory until I get sd card

laggs free or smooth any solution i would rally like to play
Gta vice city with decent fps
I dont think full HD devices are fully compatible with Vice City yet, if you look at the list of supported devices in playstore there aren't any FHD devices. Its upto the game developer to iron out issues with FHD devices.

I don't think the stock kernel supports undervolting and I guess we need some other custom kernel probably like Doomkernel..and for that I need to be bootloader unlocked..I don't wanna lose my warranty yet so soon.. maybe after 6 months or so

Ninja edit:
Oh, yes, unlocked bootloader needed.
Anyhow, unlocking the bootloader doesn't mean voiding your warranty forever. You can lock it again before sending the phone for repairs if it ever needs service.

[Q] xperia v developers ?

i am just asking is there is anyone planning to make an overclocked kernel for custom 4.4 roms ? or 4.3 stock rom ?
A custom kernel requires lots of time and skill. Dont expect this fairly old device to actually get one.
After all, the only thing you appear to be looking for is a higher cpu clock, so just ask for an overclockable kernel without any additional features.
Such a project can be a matter of just half an hour, if done by an experienced kernel dev.
that what need i just need overclock so bad till i get the z3

Why do you need it? Believe me, there is hardly a difference exept your phone being too hot much too often.
i can use an game pad and putting the phone under ice water
also ipad almost everything is paid ._. and i do not have visa card :s
It appears we don't have much options about this phone

If you need overclocking, all day game play, constant facebook updates and viewing long bollywood movies on this phone, I'm afraid it's not the right device for you. May be it is time considering one of this big chinese phones with 6 or 7 inch screen, the type that you need to always have 5000 mAh charger connected.
Instead of overclocking you can use Seeder App
Believe me, it really works
