HELP - Rooted - Motorola Droid Bionic

I rooted using Pete's 1 Click Root Pkg. Now I am regretting it. I tried to unroot using Pete's, but it just gave me an error msg saying that my device is not a Droid 3. If I can't get this app issue to go away (they keep uninstalling themselves when I reboot), I'd like to take it back to VZ. However, I can't take it back rooted. Have I totally just ruined my phone?

Did you follow the instructions posted here?

[Q][H] 2.2.1 FRFG83D Help

Hey All,
First I would like to start of by saying sorry if there is a thread on this and I have not found it from hours of searching for an answer.
So let me tell you the problem/point I am at with my Nexus One and need help.
So I rooted my phone a while back and for some time I was running the
CyanogenMod and then used Rom Manager to return to the stock image FRF91 from there updated to FRFG83D. I now want to get back into the rooted world and Amon_Ra's Recovery. Each time I try to enter into recovery mod I get the droid with a big '!'
I have tried to use SuperOneClick and it keep sitting on
Running rageagainstthecage...
ROOTED
Getting mount path...
tried 1-click does not work also.
Please help
Anyone help please

You only need to ask once. Asking multiple times is not going to get anyone to help you any faster... All you'll do is annoy people.
The "droid with the big !" as you put it is the stock recovery. When you flash a stock ROM, it re-installs the stock recovery, unless you delete two files.
Anyway, you need to delete /system/etc/install-recovery.sh and /system/recovery-from-boot.p and then flash a custom recovery. You obviously need root to delete those two files.
See attachments for how to root and flash a custom recovery, without unlocking your bootloader.
Thanx and do not wish to be a pain, I thought I got my nexus to a point were I could not do a think.
Will try it out and let you know.
Thanks

I did this like 2 days ago too. Super one click root does work. I confirmed. You just only need to set up your driver and your adb right.

Try using superoneclick, should be around here somewhere...get permissions back and load up clockwork and backup...wipe cache and install cyanogen or whatever your flavor.

Motorola Droid help please!

I am trying to root a Droid 1 using z4, but all it does is go into "acquiring root shell" then back into the app screen without rooting. Like a force close without the force close message. I also cannot download any apk files from any website.
I have tried 2 factory resets, but no luck. I am running Android 2.2.1
What am I doing wrong? Any help is much appreciated, thanks for your time

Unrooting Bionic

I rooted my phone a while ago using Motofail and would like to update my phone so I can put the ICS update on it that was pushed out the other day. I am kinda a noob to hacking my phone and would really like some help with this. I have found the Motofail for ICS for once I install ICS.

This guy has a lot of tutorials on YouTube & needed files for you to download

Just download and install all parts of House of Bionic and follow the on-screen instructions. In order to un-root you need to choose option 2 then option 2 again. Check out the FAQ if you have trouble with ADB. Read the post very carefully and probably more than once but it is actually very simple.

Thanks Samuri for this script, I have been telling everyone about it. Cheers!
?
does anyone know if the apps that hide the root will work or do I have to completely unroot the phone?
rooting the phone
as you most likely know motofail will root the phone, settings applications unknown sources, development usb debugging i also check leave screen on, then when usb is plugged in make sure charge only, have a good charge also on yer battery, if in 7 right click on motofail run as admin
i also like to have wifi already going and download root checker, this verifies, sometimes, dunno why, when i go to one rom or another i have to use one version of motofail or another version of it, also motooneclick worked for me also,
either way that'll get your phone rooted, i haven't done anything with ics, i did see a version of motofail for rooting ics afterwards
i'm on eclipse 2.2 which i just love, need anything else gimme hollar, skype allen-sec or yahoo allensecz
learning the bionic and this myself, been at it for about a month, learned a lot, just don't have 3g flowing yet,
so if you got that going on yours, hey gimme hollar
sincerely, mrbeav
Bare with please
I asked in a different thread but I got some things answered but not all exactly.
I keep hearing if I want to unroot my Bionic I need to use all the HoB files or FXZ. I will explain why I'm still a little confused.
I used Razrs Edge to root my bionic earlier this week after the OTA ICS update. Worked in like 3 minutes and put safestrap v3.05 on and made a backup of my stock OS. I want to restore and then remove safestrap but I'm confused on how to unroot. Since all the unroot methods seem to be based around HoB or motofail or using the Pete's files (which the links never seem to work)
What i need/want answered is how do I unroot it if I used the Razrs Edge method of rooting? With one of the methods i mentioned above work? If so, which one please and will i just follow the same method?
My reasoning is when/if JB OTA comes out I want to unroot to get it so i figured since I'm involved now, I might as well learn how to unroot it now and get it over with.
Thanks
Eric
You may want to try OTA Rootkeeper. You can find it on Google Play.

I did this and it worked!
I just started using SuperSU, which has a clean up root option. Seems pretty slick so far.

Help with root etc... need some expert advise

OK so I have this great ATT note 3. I have it rooted (mj5). I haven't done much with it because as far as I know I can't get a custom recovery yet Correct??
I am having issues with a few things and I'm a little concerned with the phone. For 1 I have a hard time starting up my phone some times. It seems to keep restarting and I have to keep taking the battery out and it will work after a few times. 2nd the volume sometimes gets messed up with things I do.
I've been rooting for maybe close to 1 year now and by no means a expert here but I've never failed doing it.
So here is my question, I would like to know if there is anything I can do now to get a custom recovery now that some time has gone by. I see a lot of things going on but it's all things I've never seen or read about before. I'm just looking to get pointed in the right direction from the point I'm at right blessed which is rooted with Mj5.
Or do I unroot and if so how?
also any of these options am I going to lose everything on my phone? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!

Look at the safestrap thread. It is our version of recovery for locked bootloaders

At the top of this page if you just click where it says AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 3 you will see all our sections. Click on the Android Development link then search around there for safestrap by hashcode.

I had rooted myself on SM-N900A on MJ5 using Kingo and also used kingo to unroot too. No issues / No Knox tripping.
Rooting
So I have the ATT N900A and have tried rooting it or at least looked into it so far but when the forums say only certain version available I never find one that actually says N900A. I have seen others, but to be honest I am freshly new to all of this and I am learning it all slowly but surely. Can I get some help any one?

Those are not normal issues to have on your phone, and I don't think they are related to the rooting; I think they are indicative of larger issues with the phone. I would unroot it so it looks stock, and assuming the problems persist, take it back to AT&T.
If unrooting fixes it, ofc, reroot and do it right this time (I don't know what method you used, or what might have gone wrong)
Do that BEFORE messing around with our poor-substitute for a custom recovery (safestrap) and custom ROM's.

Well its funny because I did root my phone using the Vega root files but lol I just looked last night and I'm not rooted anymore... Maybe I took a update with out realizing it?? Ok so now that I'm not rooted what do I do?
If I just do a restart from stock what thread should I look at?
Or do I root again using the kingo .com thing? Wow I'm so lost with this phone. I have the s4 HTC one, nexus 5 and never have had these issues. Just when I start to think I'm getting g good at this

Sigh - always, first thing after rooting, always freeze OTA updates, and wait to upgrade before people here say it works and there's a root available!
Since you're having suspicious issues, I would want to put on clean MJ5 firmware before continuing - get the system into a known state before continuing.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559715
This will erase everything on your phone.
I would hold off on rooting and first check if the issues you mentioned in the OP are fixed, and if they are, then you can chalk it up to a software problem (pin the blame on the OTA update), and follow the instructions in that thread to get root.
