I have been trying to resolve this issue for a day now. I flashed to 2.2 Froyo, unlocked and rooted my Stock Rogers Samsung Captivate. Everything is working fine, I started downloaded all my favourite apps back when I had stock firmware. A few hours into using my phone, I noticed apps that I used to be able to find weren't showing up. I am not sure if it is related, but I noticed this after removing bloatware with titanium backup.
I installed following this guide:

i had the same problem when i first flashed the stock froyo. went away after i started using cognition and axura.
I will give Cognition a try and report back.

Cognition has had this since the first release
Im trying to find the Cognition Odin install but its not on the site, the site only has the ROM files. I would ideally want to install with rom manage as it would be a lot easier but my market is so messed up its not even showing up when i search it.

you dont need to install rom manager
put the update.zip on your sdcard and reboot to recovery....
reinstall packages (it will reboot, just reinstall packages again)
you will now be in clockwork
install zip from sdcard, and point to the rom

Thank you so much for the zip file, everything went smoothly. I liked the voice telling me how much time each process would take. However, when I searched the app store for DBZ scouter it still cant find it, or any other paid apps! This is getting really frustrating. Should I give it a few minutes/hours for the paids apps to show up? I am enjoying the rom though, very smooth compared to the stock ones.

hey guys, just rooted my Samsung Captivate. Everything has been going great till now. i Downloaded a lagfix, which is honestly the main reason i rooted my phone. however after everything (yes, i did everyting right) i didnt have the app that was included in the .zip file iput in my phone. the app is called MCR scripts.
i did some reseach and i found this key line
"*** If MCR Scripts DOES NOT show up, its probably because you don't have the non market install hack on your phone. In the update.zip you can find the apk and install via ADB, but I didn't do it this way. ******"

so how do i just get the MCR scripts? i downloaded tayutama's zip file and i found the folder named "scripts" with the 3 files in there but they are .sh files.
so what do i do here? do i need to convert then to apk or something? please help!!!
forgot to mention...because i have a captivate i can not just go to setting/applications/ and choose for any app to be allowed or what not. i simply do not have that option. i use android central to get my apk files working on my phone. I have tried to run a zip file that will just let me install the apk file on my phone with no need for a computer. But that was to no avail.

right, i didn't notice that...wow. either way that new thread the link is dead. and for me to run that packaged zip file i would need to completely set my phone to stock, nor do i know how to do that. Im simply asking for just the MCR files in apk format if that is possible at all. If not then can you please point me in the right direction? Thank you for all the help so far, i truly do appreciate it.
i guess the real question here is what is your ultimate goal?
you want froyo? install a rom (most everything on the dev forum will install a lagfix for you, click on the link in my sig)
you just want a 'lagfix' on stock eclair? install a 2.1 kernel with voodoo
rom would be customizing the android correct? like a new home layout and what not? That would be cool but im happy with what i have...i would just like to be able to download any app for free. and get the lag fix. i got the first part down (apps for free) by rooting the phone, all i have to do is get the apk downloaded on my comp then run android central to install it on my phone.
so i download kernel with voodoo, is it just a drop into internal sd...same as when i rooted my phone? then go into recovery and choose reinstall packages?

i downloaded the lag fix for my phone which is like near the bottom of the page. i renamed it to lag fix zip file tp "update" but since i have the other files that are also renamed to "update" like for my rooting and stuff the file ended up being update(3) idk if that makes a difference but when i booted my phone from recovery mode after choosing resinstall pacakges, the phone boots up normally no long pause durgin the at&t screen or anything so i know the lag fix didnt work...also because the phone is still...slow. helllp! please.
you need to remove ANY other update.zip files from your phone and rename THAT file to update.zip
then reinstall packages
once you have installed an update.zip it is no longer required on your sdcard

I just got a new I9000 Running 2.2 from Vodaphone in Australia.
Getting very bored of it in stock form and want an increase its speed/features as much as I can. Unfortunately I know absolutely nothing about anything custom. This is my first smart phone.
The amount of custom stuff released for this phone is mind numbing, and I know there is a lot of potential there to be unlocked.
So my question is in mid 2011, near the end of the phones prime life, what is the generally accepted best thing you can do with this phone? I'm sure after all this time many things have become redundant and been replaced by better things?
In a nutshell I want to get my phone to the highest speed and feature rich state I can. Speed is definitely the highest priority followed by features and ease of use.
This includes any kind of modding including overclocking.
What I know about this phone is from when it was released there used to be lagfix, voodoofix etc to change the file system and speed up the phone. But have those things been replace by custom roms now etc?
I can follow instructions easily, but as long as they encompass everything from Stock form to completion.
For example I really don't like guides or instructions that as a first step they say something like
"Before you do this made you have rooted your phone, go into flash recovery mode use the Jhp.ascii and use odin to enter download mode. male sure you have the dbdata.rfs, boot.bin in the directory before proceeding"
I want instructions that tell you how to root the phone properly, how/what flash recovery to use, how do I use get Odin etc what all these files are what they do how to get them etc.
Bassicaly talking someone who has never flown before into landing a plane.
I think for many of the people who write instructions things they see as completely obvious basic and what they consider common knowledge are completely unknown to new people. I find 97% of the instructions for any modding mention things where prior knowledge is assumed.
Lastly even if you know how to follow instructions, the amount of stuff available for this phones means I wouldn't know where to start. My personal experience is that whenever you're using a custom rom, you're using a lot more potential of your phone, than by using a Stock-Rom, updated by Kies.
The Guides all seem a bit hardcore when you start first, but it really is worth it. I recommend you start with the EZbase Guide which offers a step by step guide with screenshots (which I was really happy for, having no clue where to start), located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991792
After reading AND understanding this guide, you are good to go to start flashing, BUT every flash has a potential risk of bricking your phone, making it a pretty expensive paperweight. If you come to bootloops or a lot of force closes on start: Don't be worried, you can fix this (or at least i could after running into them). The first time I flashed was due to lots of force closes after updating with Kies, which was my start for using custom roms.
The choice of custom rom is pretty much your own. There are several roms I liked and there is one, I pretty much stick with: Insanity (currently using 8.5, which has some battery drain issues for me, after loading the battery or putting the phone to flight mode ... I'm gonna report that to nitr8, once I got 10 Posts ).
However, you got to (or rather better) find your own favorite.
When I got the phone I was told it was locked.
Will this interfere with any modding?
I was told I can call vodaphone and they will unlock it for me, but it seems there is also a hack way to unlock it.
. Unlocking your phone.
--Why, when, where: If you bought your phone with a contract, chances are that it might be locked in that specific network. If you want to also use other SIM cards in it, that are from another provider, you will have to unlock the phone (!! WARNING !! in most cases this will lead to a void warranty, please consult your contract).
--Prerequisites: Root privileges, adb.
8.1. Get the /efs/nv_data.bin file from your device to your computer. You can do this either with adb or by copying the file to your SD card with "Root Explorer" and then copying it over to your machine from the SD (Be sure to keep a backup of this file and the /efs/.nv_data.bin.md5 file.)
8.2. Open up the file in a hex editor, go to the address 0x181468, where you will see something like this:
FF 01 00 00 00 00 46 46 46...
We are interested in that first '01', that means the phone is locked. Just change it to '00' and save the file. Copy it back to your SD card and then with "Root Explorer" back to it's original location (or 'push' it directly with adb). Then remove the .nv_data.bin.md5 file and restart the device (Again, be sure to make copies of these files before modifying or deleting them!). After this, you should be able to insert any SIM card into your device and it should work without the need for any further hacks.

now back to your question:
1. ROM :
if you are looking for speed and beauty then you don't have any other place to go than MIUI..
other custom ROMs are good but they are just some cosmetic change of galaxy ROM. .but MIUI is totally different.. (awesome would be understatement)
Trust me I have battery problem in MIUI but still I can't go back to samsung ROM>
that is how good the ROM is... others are getting good battery life out of the latest MIUI ROM... with the latest kernel you can overclock your phone upto 1.5 ghz...

there are other good gingerbread ROMs as well though I have not tried most of them..
2. VOODOO sound!!!!!
this is the biggest thing that has happened to galaxy S... google it once and you will know its awesomeness.. It's basically well tuned sound driver made by supercurio... most of the people after using voodoo sound have considered galaxy S to be the most awesome sounding music player (not just phone) ever..
better than iphone and other DAP..
(most of the custom ROMs comes with kernel supporting VOODOO sound... you just need to download voodoo app from the market)
I think those are the two awesome things you can do with your galaxy S...
there are other things too that you can learn if you follow xda..

steps for installing MIUI ROM
to make things short,, just follow these 8 steps.. that's it
0: Be sure that you're based on a Froyo FW! CRUCIAL.
1: Load these files:
a) galaxy-efsbackup.zip / Mirror
b) cm7-galaxys-initial-kernel.tar / Mirror
c) MIUI MCGv1 / Mirror
d) speedmod-kernel-k13c-500hz.tar / Mirror
(thanks to creative59 for mirrors!)
2: Copy all files except:
speedmod-kernel-k13c-500hz.tar & cm7-galaxys-initial-kernel.tar
3: Flash speedmod-kernel-k13c-500hz.tar via Odin, wait for reboot and after that shutdown
4: Start via 3-button-combo in recovery mode and install galaxys-efsbackup.zip
5: Pull out battery and in again, start via 3-button-combo via download mode and flash cm7-galaxys-initial-kernel.tar via Odin BUT DON'T check repartition and auto reboot
6: Pull out the USB cable and start (in download mode) with 3-button-combo in recovery mode (waiting until samsung logo appears)
7: Choose "mounts & storage" and format system, data, cache
8: Flash MIUI MCGv1.
First and foremost check if bootloader locked...then check the recovery / download modes work and then proceed...

Thanks for your post ujjwal321. For a first attempt, I am very happy with what you suggested. I think there is enough there for me to try it on my own and MIUI seems good.
A few things I'd like to point out though. The ONLY reason I actually decided I have enough information from your post to mod is because of the youtube video that goes through the install process. There is absolutely no way would ever know what to do without the video, and most roms do not come with it.
I am very unhappy at the level of ease and lack of instructions in the written instructions of roms...
For example If I did not watch the video, I would never know to put the phone in "USB Debug" mode.
Why are things like this not listed in step by step instructions?
Secondly, even the things that are listed like

Luckily by looking at the video, I know exactly what to do. However its all because of monkey see monkey do, there is no level of good communication through a good set of instructions or guide, and thus there incomplete understanding on my end.
IMPORTANT
Before doing any of these things, does my phone need to be rooted? Currently it is locked and completely stock. Or Can I just follow the youtube video instructions from the get go? I also just read "When upgrading to 1.5.20 you need to wipe data, datadata, cache and system!". What? All I know is how to go to settings>SD card and storage and format the SD card, as well as Privacy>reset settings>Factory settings, Is this enough?
I ask because form what I have seen so far nothing is clear cut and your meant to already know 99 facts for every 1 mentioned.
Lastly, before I do any flashing, I really NEED to know either how to back up my current firmware, or if it is available online. It is Aussie vodaphone 2.2
What do I do in case I need to claim warranty? I need to put the stock one back on. I have 2 years of warranty after all, If I don't back it up I loose all that.
So, can anyone shed some light on this?
P.S blackheart, I can enter the download mode and the recovery mode by doing the 3 button combo, it goes into the respective screens and i can scroll up down using the volume button. I have not done anything more than that, I hope that means its not locked.

About the loading of files. It just means u copy them to your phone.
There are 2 ways of flashing. With odin/heimdall, and through the phones recovery. To flash in the recovery the files need to be located in the phones memory.
Before flashing without having any clue i suggest reading a lot of faqs etc.

Here are some instructions I gave to someone in a similar situations. Install videos are available on my site sgsromreviews.weebly.com. Hope you find this useful
1. Download Odin 1.3, Tweaky ROM, CF Root Kernal and JVH firmware 2. Use Odin to flash JVH.(you need to get the phone in to download mode using the vol down key + home key + power at the same time. (If this does not work I WOULD STOP NOW AND LOOK AT HACKING YOUR PHONE TO ENABLE THIS FUNCTION) 3. In select the JVH .tar file in the PDA section. DO NOT TICK RE-PARTITION and then click start 4. The initial boot will take longer than usual so be patient, if your phone begins to vibrate constantly and for no reason then take the battery out and enter download mode again for re-flashing (if this happens feel free to email me again for further advice) 5. Once you are running JVH copy Tweaky ROM over to your INTERNAL SD card 6. Enter the back in to download mode 7. Use Odin to flash the CF Root Kernal, select the .tar file in the PDA section again and again DO NOT TICK RE-PARTITION 8. Once this has booted turn the phone off and enter clockwork recovery using the vol up key + home key + power at the same time until the white Galaxy S I-9000 writing comes on the screen then let go 9. Navigate clockwork recovery using the vol keys and the power key to select. Go down to install .zip from SD card, then choose .zip from SD card and choose to install Tweaky 10. Use clockwork to wipe data then wipe dalvik cache (found in advanced section) 11. Reboot phone and enjoy Tweaky

Im a relatively new flasher as well, so I know exactly what you're going through just now!
That said, I've done about 15 flashes now so I feel I have a good grasp of what's required. I would also like to suggest MIUI. I have tried a few of the roms out there, but MIUI simply takes my breath away it's that good.
To give you an idea of how good it is, I've flashed it onto 4 other peoples phones because they were blown away by it!
If you need any help with what to do, PM me. I'll put together a package of everything that you need and I'll happily sit and explain each and every step to you personally if need be (if you are a gamer and use Ventrillo I'll verbally speak you through the process as well).
As for returning to stock, you can restore your phone back to it's original state by downloading stock firmware and isntalling that on your phone. It's very simple. EXBase is probably the most straightforward one there is that I have come across.
alright installed MIUI.
Looks like it will take a while to get used to compared to the stock rom. I dont know if its any better yet. Just different. I am not seeing any more features, actually kind of less, but I am sure I am missing a lot.
It is faster though.
Anyway, how do I overclock now? There seems to be no options for that.
I also dont like how its all symbols and no writing.
Al in all seems like a decent stable rom.
I'm planning on updating my ROM soon and was wondering if there was anything special I need to do to my phone prior to flashing the new ROM?
I'm currently on JPP with the hardcore speedmod i1r2, so pretty old compared to what's out there now. I flashed the hardcore kernel previously via Odin.
If I follow the instructions on [email protected] http://insanity.rollus.net/EZbase/EZbase-2.00.pdf but replace the insanity ROM with any other ROM (e.g. JUWE ROM), will it work ok?

(Be aware I don't know much about MIUI or smart phone software in general.
and I just installed it about an hour ago)
What features is is packed full of? I want to know so I can try it out/make use of it.
The only new thing I see extra is that maxthon internet browser.
Everything else I notice that is different, its funnily enough things missing compared to stock.
For example where are is the ability to add all the shortcuts/apps etc on the main screen by just holding the screen down? A lot similar features like this seem either not there or or at least harder to find/make use of comapred to stock.
Some things are just definitely taking a step back, for example adding a Doom 1 style grey border on the camera.
And my fav live wallpaper, Aurora, doesn't work on MIUI. It just crashes and I have to force close?
Also TV out doesn't work, and choppy movie playback?
And my 3d performance seems to have gone down about 15% from stock Stock, frames hit about 570, MIUI, about 470.
I'll be using it for longer but I gotta figure out what all the hype is about.
I think a stock rom + speedmod and lagfix is the most easy and the fist step to any new user of SGS?

So by flashing to MIUI from complete stock phone, did I achieve all of this plus more? OR did I miss something? E.g do I have lagfix as well? Or do I need to install this on top of MIUI?
I followed the install instructions step by step. 3.11 MIUI.
It seems like my Benchmark scores aren't flying like I expected them to, and the phone still lags/jerks on animations doesn't respond etc...
My Quadrant standard score went from 1000 on the stock phone to 1700 when I flashed to MIUI.
I also decided to install setcpu and overlocked to 1.2 ghz then 1.4 on both the on demand and performance setting
And still my score only goes up to about 1900 quadrant standard score on 1.4ghz :S
I find it strange that people are getting much higher much more easily.
For example how did this phone get 2500 just on 1.2ghz? Is it MIUI that sucks?

On the stock 2.2 the total frames was higher. For example in the test with the corridor and cube, my frames would reach about 570 at the end of the test on 2.2 stock ROM.
On MIUI ROM it only reaches about 476.
I just replaced my Captivate with a refurb from AT&T. FWIW... the guys at the warranty replacement center were very nice and knowledgeable. I have everything backed up with TiBu, moved my pictures off and all that.
My old phone had existz KB1 kernal and of course voodoo file system. Should I put this phone in the same state before I copy pictures back and restore apps? I'm wondering because voodoo as I understand it converts the file system from RFS to whatever voodoo is. That would mean my backups have been converted too.
Also, exixtz kernal is KB1 and this phone came as KB2. Any problem reapplying that kernal which I was very happy with?

No, shouldn't be a problem. The only difference in KB1AND KB2 is the kernel and modem. But, you have to root first. Here is what I'd do.
Root
Odin flash a kernel with CWM(I used a speedmod kernel)
Flash the kernel of choice from recovery
Restore your backup.
Converting to ext4is up to you. Your back up is not dependent on using rfs or ext4.

dumb question... I've never restored a tibu back up... I have the backup on my pc... where do I put it. Also tibu is complaining that I won't be able to restore due to "allow third party app" not being checked in applications but there is no where to check that?
Need Superoneclick to enable non market/3Rd party apps.
Put the folder labeled Titanium Backup on your internal SDcard. Open TiBu, menu/batch/restore missing apps.
I'm mostly posting these things now in case someone else is in the same boat I am and has to go through this.
Superoneclick worked. I was a little surprised I needed it as my old phone had this enabled from ATT.
Restored most everything although TiBu died 4 times. The only thing that did not restore right was Beautiful Widgets. Fought that. Still not completely right as I can't find the same widget I had for style... FWIW.. I had 93 apps... took over an hour. I now understand the paid version if I was a heavy ROM flasher.
I enabled 3e recovery with no sig required via Truesselo's method. It worked great.
Bluetooth re-paired without requiring a password... I thought that was odd.
Had to re-enter my wireless password. Expected that.
Still evaluating whether or not to reapply Plumb Bob's GPS fix.
Still haven't updated the kernal. A reply above recommended SpeedMod but that looks like an i9000 kernal.
All in all dinked around about 4 hours with it... much of it trying to remember what the heck to do and how to do it.
CWR won't work now... What to do
I've rooted and restored. Along the way I also ran Truesello's (sp?) 3e signature fix as I had done that before with no problems.
Today I was going to flash something and it booted into recovery 3e but it os blue, I thought it was orange before.
I selected reinstall packages and I get this error
E: Can't open /mnt/internal_sd/update.zip Installation aborted.
I'm just trying to get to where I can select the zip file I want to use. I know I've done it the past.
help please.
Did you name it"update" or "update.zip". The phone will actually add the.zip part for you. Try renaming it just update.

Thanks for your replay... I was thinking I hope mrhaley replies... he seems to know his stuff! I have plumbbob's fix on the phone and was going to flash that. it is named PlumbBob-1.0-CWM-USA.zip. It is not giving me the secondary menus to get there. I don't have an update.zip on the phone. I seem to recall it was for rooting.
Like I said, the only other thing I've done is to run the fix to allow non-signed files.
When I flashed the fix and the kernal last time I was able to navigate and select them.
The old update.zip was to install cwm. On 2e recovery it worked like a charm. 3e was not the same story. You really need cwm if you are going to flash stuff. Custom kernels haves it baked in. I don't have a copy handy, or I would upload it for you. You might try using ROM manager just to install cwm.
or rename everything you flash to update, which can cause problems if you forget to change the name back to what it really is. But, you can't have more than1 thing named update on your internal sd at a time.

Well whaddya know... I have a folder on my pc in my Android folder called CW and in it is an update.zip file and directions. Bread crumbs... gotta love'm.
Took your advice and installed it through ROM manager. Aaaand we have PlumbBob... 7/7 and 16 ft accuracy.
Still wondering about flashing the KB1 kernal over KB2 though... the phone is sluggish. I probably will in a bit though.

UPDATE: 27/11/11
Andrew_Low has provided a copy of his stock FROYO backup, which I tested on my tab and confirm that it is working. The kernel is rooted, other than that it is a clean ROGERS rom.
He was also able to capture the GINGERBREAD update, (which I have not tested as of yet, any testers please post your results) this is the stock update available from KIES.

I just picked up a used Galaxy Tab that has this firmware on it. I'm not new to hacking Android devices, but the Tab is new to me.
I haven't installed Kies yet, but will in a couple of days and can make a backup.
That would be just great, thank you very much, and I assure you that you will be glad that you made a backup for yourself as well in the future (hopefully not though, I don't expect you to have problems or anything like that but you know what I mean).
If possible, can you make the backup before you root the device, otherwise it seems to be a bit of a headache trying to get it un-rooted after the fact.

Sigh, I'm in noobville here with Kies.
Cross booted to Windows XP (I normally use Linux as my desktop) - installed Kies and sorted out USB connectivity.
I don't see where in Kies I can do a firmware backup. The backup just grabs the user data from the device.
It detects my firmware version and offers me the chance to update (which I assume would be a bad idea). Quickly looking on the net, you can 'capture' the firmware files during an update - but that doesn't help grab the version I'm running. Seems there may be a registry hack that lets you install older versions in Kies? If that's true, why can't anyone with a Rogers tab just get the old firmware easily?
Looking for a bit of hand holding.
Oh yeah, and device is bone stock. I'll likely root, unlock and install CyanogenMod - but I'm in no rush. Happy to try to help capture the stock ROM. It may help me out in the future, you never know.
Search for Roto-backup, it is a way to back it up bit by bit. It's a thread by Rotohammer, using his technique members were able to provide UN-ROOTED firmware, which are posted in the dev section. Have a little read see what you think.
The Roto-backup link was helpful, but that requires rooting.
Here's what I've done. Starting with a bone stock, factory reset device. I rooted the device using SuperOneClick 2.2. Sadly I had to run this under Windows to get it to work, mono + Ubuntu didn't seem to work out
I used the default "auto" method of rooting with SuperOneClick, and I did install busybox. In theory - if you really wanted to have an un-rooted stock, you could use the Unroot option of SuperOneClick.
Then I used the roto-backup script. This seems to have worked and I've got a 250MB zip file that I believe contains the stock firmware.
Are you brave enough to test it?
Files were zipped into a single file then split into chunks using RAR to get around upload limits. Grab them from skydrive.
Nice. I have a backup I came across but it's screwy and can't be un-rooted. The root method you used was temporary or perm?, the difference would be one disappears after a reboot.
When I originaly did my backup I used a temp root and came up with a file that I'm pretty sure was about the same size.

Slightly off topic, what ROM would you recommend? Seems any AT&T compatible ROM should play ok on the Rogers tab. I'm partial to CM being that's what is on my phone.

It is for warranty reasons, I have two tabs one was acting up. I did re stock it and sent it back but I wasn't able to un-root so I'll see if it goes through with samsung.
I HAD my stock rom that I somehow deleted (or just misplaced, cause I can't find it anywhere) Then I figured that I am not the only one who may need this, and since it is harder to find, I thought that I would try and help out the P1000R folks by getting a stock rogers rom for those who would like to revert. I was going to wait until I receive my tab back and see what they did to it and maybe have a fresh rogers rom on it to backup. I plan on posting it for members to have.
Our Rogers tabs are great for flashing anything on it really (p1000 related of course). Currently I have BOCA on mine, I had HC RC1 on it previously for a good little bit, and was going to put the ICS alpha build on it, but now since I'm left with one I use it for business purposes and require full functionality out of it. The tab that I sent back had OVERCOME KRATOS on it. Funny enough, this tab is the one that i'm always flashing different roms on and overclocking and plain old abusing it yet it was the other one that crapped out.
I recommend the OVERCOME rom as it is very stable, fast and reliable with almost no bugs. Combined with the bell modem it could also be used for phone calls if necessary. But experiment with any one you want until you find one that suits your needs, I found both my tabs hard to brick so I wouldn't worry too much if I were you. I can't wait for an ICS beta rom to stick on this one.
Cool. I'm interested in a clean stock ROM if one shows up, please post to this thread. I'll try the unroot and see if that works for me.
Open to pointers on how to soft root and capture ROM. Seems feasible, but I didn't find a way to soft root and give me enough to roto backup.

Can't folk use the 2.3 firmware from kies? I haven't tried, but if you flash the rooted UXJJ6 from this thread then use Kies to upgrade to 2.3 you'd be in an unrooted stock state.

Hmm, very interesting. I ran the unroot on my device and it did manage to remove the superuser apk, but beyond that the device appears to still be rooted - busybox is still installed, and when I shell in over adb I get the # indicating root access.
I suspect just removing the superuser app is enough to make it appear 'as stock' - but any expert digging into the device and it's easy to see things are not stock.
If I were to try again - seems zergRush may be the local root you want to use, then from there figure out how to backup the ROM.
[edit] Ooh... reboot and adb has lost the # - I still see busybox installed in /system/xbin/busybox - I suspect this is pretty close to 'stock' if I punt the /system/xbin stuff entirely.
I'm not sure I'm that motivated to chase this further - I can't guarantee it is 100% stock, and it's the same as dl'ing the files I previously uploaded and running SuperOneClick 2.2 unroot + removing the busybox stuff as I specified above. The only mystery here is really what causes adb to have root privs when rooted.
Sweet - appears I was able to grab the ROM from Kies during the 2.3 upgrade - so I've got a copy of the clean/stock Rogers GINGERBREAD.UXKG1 firmware.
Will upload and link here in the next couple of days.
