How to optimize our p990?
-------------------------------------
Sent from my LG-P990

Do you mean what should one do to optimize his/her phone after buying it?

download and flash Cyanogenmod this is optimization enough

Hmmm I'm not sure what you're trying to do but this is what I do/did from stock 2.2:
update baseband (this wipes everything anyway) -> root -> flash clockworkmod -> flash cyanogenmod, google apps, vorkkernel (and converting all to ext4).
There are also scripts that can help with some tweaking after all this is done.
Good luck!

first where are you from?? europe? asia? if from europe than you can flash v10dNEU here is the link
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035041
after that apply neoblaze kernel
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200726
or swiftextreme
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1223846
those kernel for modaco or stock rom
or you can directly install CM
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058254
and there is many roms like MIUI or else just look at android development for o2x

I'm from Asia but I don't know where is my phone from.
Its lge version is v10d,Frg83g ,baseband: 1035.21_20110405.Which baseband is the best for it?

Fastest kernel I used!
3400 quadrant, without overclock! Very snappy
Hi,
I'm coming from MCR fr17 Fear Kill edition 10.. it is using the 2.6.32.8 kernel.
My questions are as per below (Sorry I'm new to android devices and trying my best to learn):
a) When flashing a new kernel, I just put it in my SD card and flash it in recovery correct? Or do I need to perform a wipe before doing so? Need to clear any cache etc?
b) For those that have tested this kernel, care to upload the stable voltage for 1000 mhz, 1200mhz and 1300mhz?
c) What if I undervolted it so much that it isnt a stable voltage? Will my phone be a brick?
Thanks to all that take the time to guide a noob like me.

In Pimp my CPU, use the stress test to see if its stable. Use the settings without saving it so you dont boot with those settings. But just to make sure, make a backup of the rom if absolute everything f*cks up.
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk
Currently I cant even run a CPU Stress Test. When I do, the application will be forced closed.
Do take note that I havent flashed in this new kernel yet.. Using 2.6.32.8 atm
I flashed this Kernel with Stock ROM, but I found that my existing Pimp my CPU not work anymore. Please suggest use with version is fine, Thanks.
Same, this kernel doesn't support PimpCPU I believe. Nevertheless, it's the most stable kernel that I've tried so far...
What advantages are their of converting to ext4? Looking for a good kernel current running modaco fr17 will this be ok?

I'm actually not looking for an OC, I was looking for a UV.
Sorry if it is a noobish question but wat advantage does this bring over stock kernel?
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk
This kernel provides ext4 support. And a small fix I believe. So the advantage is a general speed improvement with phone usage.
Guys, my O2X just got updated (via LG PC Suite) to v10d. I already rooted it, but can anyone confirm if this kernel still works with it?

hi

I want clean Vanila 2.2 or 2.3 ROM.
Hi All
Please do forgive me if I come across as being stupid but I only got my LG 2X today and I want to flash a clean 2.2 or even better a 2.3 Vanila ROM.
But I'm very confused as to exactly what I need to do. I understand that I need to root first but dont even know where to root from.
Would someone be kind enough to maybe put together a step by step guide on how to root and then install a ROM please? Or maybe just provide links to each step in the correct order?
I'm sure other users would also find it useful.
I've been using the device for a few hours now and have updated to the latest V10D via LG's software update and have not yet experienced any random reboots etc except for only ONE reboot when I tried to install Swype but that was before the V10D update.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out here. Cheers.
Root:
I used this guide: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=LG_Optimus_2X:_Rooting
Recovery:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=LG_Optimus_2X:_Recovery_and_CyanogenMod
Flash:
With ClockworkMod Recovery you now can boot into recovery (power+vol down)
Here you wipe data and wipe partition and after that you click "flash ROM from SD-card" or something like that, find the ROM on your SD-card and hit it.
Wohoo!
Definitely the best and easiest way to root is this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765

Is it possible to get a review system going for the roms and patches, so we may get a gauge of battery life, stability and those sorts of things for the different roms, etc?
Sort of like done here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=668090
But maybe working off a user review system?....Trying to think of a way to make it fairly accurate, but not involve one poor person running one rom after another over and over to write a review.

I would like this as well. I am looking at flashing a rom with good battery life. There is no direct way of finding out how the battery peformance is in these roms. Everyone always talks about the overclock I just want stable with 2 days battery.
I have got good battery experience with Slick2X ROMs for both Froyo and Gingerbread. I got around 3 days or 1% per hour in sleep mode.
Gingerbread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061532
Problems: Slow GPS fix.
Froyo -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076454
Problems: Well, it is froyo, does not utilize dual-core fully.
Current I use Pauls rooted stock gingerbread ROM, which gives around 2 days between charges.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1328656
Problems: none found yet.
Can everyone please vote, for the ROM or kernel you're using, 1 to 5 in five categories. Stability, Speed, Battery Life, Appearance, Daily use. And i'll compile them and put it on the second post. thank you.

List of kernels

Im using a gingerbread v20e rom right now and on stock kernel my boot time is about 1 min max, iv recently installed neoblaze and my boot time is over 4 mins.
Can someone give me a list of kernels that will work with my rom so i can find the best one? the search function is pretty useless because without knowing the name of the kernel ill never find it.

Taken directly from the {Start here} Thread in the dev section. Not sure which of them that will work on v20e. But surely some of them wouldn't mind that you test and maybe report back your experience in each thread.
Cant really think about any other kernels right now ether for that matter.

hmm so just neoblaze and swiftextreme, neoblaze seems to take forever too boot when i have that on my phone but swiftextreme is OC to 1.2ghz on boot...dont like that. Not much to pick from.
Edit that's a rom not the kernel...its impossible to find anything in this forum wheres the thread for the swiftextreme kernel only.
Hmm he have 4 stand alone kernel links but only seems to be oc kernels 2 are 1,2Ghz and the other 2 are 1,4Ghz.
They are at the bottom of each rom ver. Right bellow the rom download link.
Yeah noticed soon after posting they didn't work had to restore a backup.
Seems only neoblaze works with this rom but it causes some unwanted loooooong startups so looks likebill have to stick with the stock kernel till i get a response on that issue.

CWM is an recovery used to install an custom rom
you want to get an custom rom right?
and also the .nbo file should be on the root of sd and installed from bootloader
Sent from my WT19i using xda app-developers app
So i should find CWM for my rom ?
Kernel: Apps_2.6.32.9-perf
Android 2.2.2
Best if i cen get 4.0.4 with all working inside
find CM9 for your device and install via CWM for your phone
Sent from my WT19i using xda app-developers app
Just installed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278027
and starting with CM9 RC2...
Stop, but i think i should go from .32 to .35 first, so how can i make this now.
1. I have installed CWM recovery v5.0.2.7 for .32
For changing base kernel.. you need to flash andro-id rc3 via windows sultr file extention is .nb0.. and you also got CWM .35 base automaticaly included..
And than you can flash the other custom rom for .35 base kernel..

Enable HDMI port
Hi guys,
How to enable the HDMI port in our device especially for our custom ICS ROM?...Is there any tools or step that we need to do so that we can use our phone's HDMI?
After flashing to CM9 RC2 everything looks and works awesome, but softkeys are changed/randomized. How can fix this?

[Q] I need a little help with upgrading

Hi, i have a samsung galaxy S i9000 and i'm kinda new with it
all i want is to make it faster because it runs very slow , i've seen youtube videos about testing some games on the same phone but some of them won't even open up. i got more interested in upgrading it and started searching around on how to. So here is what i want to do:
I want to upgrade it by changing my Rom in Cyanogen 9 and kernel Devil 3. I don't even know if it is good but i'm sure its better than gingerbread.
Can some1 help me out with it , maybe post a little tutorial how to do it.
Aditional info :
-I don't want so save anything from it
-It's rooted
-Firmware version: 2.3.6
-Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-i9000XXJVU-CL851880 [email protected] #2

CyanogenMod (CM) 9 is really outdated. If you want a good, fast ROM I can recommend Slimbean. It's largely based on CM. You can find more info here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2060374
Detailed instructions can be found in that thread and on the slimrom website.
Coming from Gingerbread you'll need to install CM10 first, otherwise you will lose your IMEI, which will render your phone unable to make or place calls. Once on CM10 you can then flash Slimbean.
Or using an newer version of CM

Like i said in the original post i wanted rom cm9 with devil 3 kernel but still didnt know what that means...( the kernel part)
Now that i got the cm10 ive searched around videos on youtube and seen lot of ppl kinda overclocking it with diferent kernel...
I want to do it like with semaphore or some kernel thing... can someone explain to me how it is done and if it is good for the phone?
Some infos:
Android version: 4.2.2
Baseband vers: I9000xxJVT
Kernel version: 3.0.76-gc0a8d45
Memory: 369 mb
Cm vers: 10.1.2-galaxysmtd
Okay different kernel i have no experience with it ,sorry...
But overclocking is available with the stock-kernel in CM 10 ...to about 1200mhz in the performance menu under your settings ...have you activate developer options and performance...do you know how to do it???

Your clock isnt stable go download semaphore kernel or devil kernel and flash it in recovery and try then over clocking with their kernel managers.

Some Qs:
Do i flash semaphore kernel same way i installed ROM?
Will semaphore replace current ROM (cm10)??
Did some1 had any problems with semaphore kernel ? like bricking the phone? is it stable?
Is anyone at the current time having cm10 with smaphore kernel overclocking at 1.2ghz ?
Does Sgs i9k support the overclock stable?

You flash semaphore the same way you flashed your rom and it will replace stock cm kernel your rom will stay the same make sure you flash the right version to avoid any bricking. It makes cm run better. Overclock depends on your phone some people can overclock high some not so much. Download semaphore changer governor to sio and liveoc to 110% and set min frequenci 400Mhz. That should be enough to make it supper smooth

EDIT: make sure after flashing to download semaphore manager from the playstore its like a control panel for semaphore where all the settings are and i repeat make sure you flash the right version for your android version and phone i9000.

I don't get it why do you want to flash another kernel? Aren't you happy now with smooth CM10.1x? Here on this forum are many flashing freaks who flash and overclock their phones until the device completely crashes.
CM10.1x is excellent already way it is, if you want to even improve it (first of all to get about double battery life) just upgrade it to the newest nightly version of CM10.2 tomorrow (build 20130828), it will finally have all bigger bugs fixed. Very soon, stable CM.10.2 build will be released out of this nightly. This is the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2385178
If you want to do it, just mind that the developer (pawitp) doesn't mention anymore installing gapps, so this would be the workflow from your present ROM:
Do a Nandroid Backup of your CM10.1.2 build before the upgrade!
Go to CWM recovery mode and check first in "install zip" if your zips of the CM10.2 and Gapps for 4.3 are visible on your internal SD card
Wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
wipe dalvik cache (under "advanced")
Install the nightly ROM zip from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery
Install Gapps for CM10.2 (Android version 4.3) while still in recovery
Restore /data from Nandroid Backup (the update will wipe your /data) while still in recovery
Reboot system
The partition layout of CM10.2 (beginning from 20130816 nightly) differs of that of CM10/CM10.1. The first install will wipe your /data to switch to the new layout, but after that you may use CWM to restore/backup data of CM10/10.1/10.2 (in CWM recovery under "advanced restore" then "restore data" from your CM10.1 nandroid backup)
This way done, you should have all data, wallpaper, widgets and apps like in your CM10.1 right after the reboot. And wait until tomorrow, when the 20130828 nightly gets released. I've been using "buggy" builds (nightlies between 24 and 27 Aug) without any problems, but some people had problems with them.
