How do you? I'm getting a not hosed one today

The "X is rooted" thread would be a good place to start
Alldroid has a great guide on how to do it. I would link to it, but they say my account is too new to link to outside URLs.
Sorry. I meant Unroot. Anyways, nevermind, I just put the phone in our degausser at work. No more root. Now I have a newphone
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Put it in what?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
A degausser. A device with a large magnet that wipes hard drives. It cost like 8 grand. We have the same ones the department of defence uses.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
The phone just won't turn on after lol. Got a new one. The magnets so strong that you can't put your wallet within 10 feet otherwise it'll wipe your credit card.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Wow that is a nastey machine but appearently the only real way to wipe a hard drive is to have it put through a wood chipper lol. People can still pull up stuff after you reformat. Unless you use the petter gutmans way to reformat but that takes days from what I hear

Was worlndering cause I want to root my friends
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
Yes. It's possible. One click root should be fairly safe. Just don't do anything unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing.
Where could I find thus guide it doesn't seem to be stickied

Ha I just got owned thanks though!
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
Thanks for having a sense of humor and not getting mad. You'd be surprised by people sometimes.
Just curious is there a particular reason for rooting or is it just "the thing to do"?
Thing to do really my friend wants 3rd party apps

ah screen shots, much easier than explaining that the search function at the top of the screen is mostly useless. but the other search function works well.
most brick situations happen due to bootloaders being flashed. either a mismatch or when the flash gets interupted during that 1second window.
lesson here is dont use the oneclick odin to restore to att 2.1 stock because it has bootloaders.
other than that it is difficult to mess things up beyond repair thanks to odin and a jig that can force download mode provided the bootloaders aren't too messed up.
book mark that picture lol
Came home from work to my new nexus 7! I gotta say opening the box was a pain in the ass but well worth the patience. Overall I have to admit I am very impressed with this device, incredibly fast and truly "buttery" smooth. Jelly bean is incredible and this is my first "pure" android experience and so far so good. At first I was concerned about the quality of the display and the "washed" out look but contrary to what everyone thinks I happen to think it looks great! And fortunately I am very grateful that my n7 doesn't have the screen displacement that everyone has been talking about. And I really didn't want to go through the trouble of returning mine to Google play and waiting for another one lol. I come from a family that absolutely loves apple phones, laptops, and ipads. I'm sort of an android junkie and love the freedom that comes with it, with that being said I figure this would make a perfect first tablet for me to own and after extensive use of my families ipads In my personal opinion I have to say that the n7 is superior in many ways. Great tablet, specs, and price! So kudos to Asus and Google for bringing this bad boy to the market!

Yeh, just opened mine yesterday and love it! The first time opening the box was fine was easy for me. But I put the documents back in the box. When I tried to open it to read hem, it was really hard. Overall it is a great tablet. Can't wait to root!

I'd recommend unlocking the bootloader right now, because it wipes all your user data.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
+1 for unlocking now. I waited a couple of days and it was a pain doing the usual backup routine.
I blanked out and didn't unlock it when I got it. What I'm gonna do is root it do a nandroid backup then unlock and restore.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Yeah I still haven't gotten around to rooting or unlocking yet... This thing is amazing I can't put it down lol. Is the root toolkit compatible with the latest update 4.1.1? Haven't updated yet but it keeps asking me every single time I power it on

Can you install a custom recovery to do a nandroid backup with the bootloader locked?

If you could make a nandroid backup, copying the file to a computer for storage would allow you to wipe the tablet and then copy the file back and restore.
Thats what I was going to do

I'm right there with you. I was nervous after reading the negative reviews, but I've had mine 2 weeks and no problems. I also come from a long line of Apple lovers and cant wait to show off all the "buttery" goodness of this fine device.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
Making a nandroid didn't even cross my mind when I did it, I wouldn't worry..... anyways, don't you need an unlocked bootloader or root to install a recovery to make a nandroid? Just my thoughts, I ,might be wrong.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
On mine I did a simple adb backup and restore. Took about an hour including set up(never done it before) and it was a painless way to keep all apps and app data as well as settings. Anyone looking to unlock and not have to deal with losing app data should Google it and check out out.

Gonna root first, do a nandroid and titanium back up move the files onto my desktop unlock then move them over and restore

You needed to be unlocked to root. I just unlocked my boot loader, no problem. To do a backup, use the backup for apps in wugfresh's toolkit, you don't need root to do it.

Literally can't stop playing with this thing! However I have to send it back to Google for a replacement I have several dead pixels and the touchscreen has started bugging out on me. It goes from not registering my touch to randomly pressing apps. Already contacted Google for my RMA for, shipping label, and new replacement ready for order. Hopefully the new one will be defect free lol

I am in for 20. I had the original Evo and I remember how it was locked but the developers found a way.

I received my LG phone back but it's locked and the disgruntled employee smashed the screen. I'm an note3 owner so I'm clueless to the LG Android platform. What are my best options here? I'm considering replacing the screen myself as I've done before on phones but to get into the phone and everything is not an option I assume.

Wow! What happened? Why did the screen get smashed? I would freaking say something.... you shouldn't have to fix it.
If need be, you can pop the back cover off with a guitar pick, or similar. Its just like a Samsung once you get inside. Remove the battery, remove the rear housing, remove the motherboard, vibrator, antennae, etc.
Yeah I've replaced screens before. Suggestions on cheapest place to order one? Local place wants 160 bucks to replace it lol

Untold? I fired the person for theft of fuel. Some cannot be trusted with a monitored fuel card I guess. Especially when the card is tied to a certain vehicle and they have to use a unique pin at the pump. My 160 out of pocket to repair a phone is chump change when it's a few hundred dollars of fuel
Sent from my SM-N900V using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
And there it is. Had this happen at my place of employment. Said person was ultimately fired for a 2$ charge. Giving employees G2s to use, nice boss... Lol
Maybe it"s a factor to some, but idc if it's 2 dollars or 2000, cant stand a thief. I can understand the not bothering part as well, if you ever recover the price it will have cost you even more. Some former employee's of mine thought being the boss makes you rich so you wont notice, both are usually idiotic ideas. Why they think i owe them but they owe me nothing is beyond me.

god, until that explanation, i sat here reading this thread as if you sent your phone back to LG to get something fixed, and then an LG employee was disgruntled, broke the screen, and sent it back to you like that.
i'm sure many others read the story the same way, dude..lol you have to be more descriptive..that's why people are all, "you shouldn't have to pay for this, make them pay for it!" as in, make LG pay for something they did.
but obviously now we understand the situation

I was thinking the same exact thing - except that it was a disgruntled Verizon employee who was the culprit.
Never put it past VZW to send out a warranty replacement with issues lol
Once I get this fixed I may use an upgrade from another line to use the g2 as a spare for myself. Are they locked bootloader like my note 3?

i believe so, but there's a loki exploit or something..i forget, i haven't rooted or done any of this since september lol
I recently rooted mine, ran a few roms but made the mistake of wiping data on my stock recovery and soft bricked. Was able to go all the way back to 4.2.2. Then 2 updates later here I am lol.
Rooting and fixing are very simple at this stage.
