I'm oppening this topic because i see that some users has network issues on the gingerbread releases. That's happens since first v20 build.
I had tried all the possible basebands and ril's, but the result is always the same: instable connection.
- Connection die suddenly and just returns after reboot
- Sometimes the signal of network drop and returns again
- At TIM operator cant get the "H" icon on topbar just 3G, with i can VIVO can get it H normally (it's not a feature, believe in me)
I guess that's something related to baseband because for some users everything goes normal.
Tested basebands:
725 for Gingerbread with matching ril
622 for Gingerbread with matching ril
725 for Froyo with matching ril
0622 for Froyo with matching ril
Hope someone can help, i really love the new Gr4 release, but i can't abdicate data connection for sure.
PING TIMEOUT STATISTICS http://dpaste.com/637671/
Problem solved:
1) Disable 'Automatic date/hour settings' on Settings > Date/Hour > Uncheck Automatic
2) Disable or change NTP parameter. In my case, i downloaded the ClockSync app (available at market) and set mannualy the NTP server of my country (in case br.pool.ntp.org)
I really don't know what the relation but until now, i get a stable network connection.
Hm, I tested 823 BB with matching RIL and I have to say that everything is fine
By the way: I have TopoGigis GB Release v1.8 SP1 (didn't want to upgrade since everything's working...^^)

It's good for you. Im seeing thats not a general issue, happens just with some mobile operators.
Unfortunally here i cant get a stable signal, im pretty sad about that.
I have no problem here too with bands, running 622..
if I were you, I'd stick with the baseband that came with your phone, it was intended by your carrier..

I already try that, same results.
Have you tried set dns pro? i dont know if it'd make any difference for you, for me it does.
When opening the app for the first time, it shows the phone is using google dns (8.8.8.8). i changed it with open dns, it went better. Still a bit slow (the ping, maybe), but better.

Already tried that, no sucess.
The slow speed doesnt bother me, the bad thing is the network drop.
I got those signal drop on 725 /614 /622 / 823 Baseband...
Best was 622 but with horrible voice on call !
Since CM 146 the 725BB don't work (many signal drop) so i try Miui with same result...
PS : i use getril to match RIL but sometime the BB is unknown and only restoring backup works..
Sorry for asking, I not so familiar with your problem.
Have you installed any apps in your phone, or the problem exists with untouched= after the rom installation?
622 for Gingerbread with matching ril ? please post link

What is exactly your configuration?
622 baseband for gingerbread or for froyo? The same question for RIL.
Thank you.
@felipemadox
Did you try BB 622 (gb) + standard cm7 RIL 218 + Network set to 'gsm auto prl' (after very reboot!) + No time syncing via android settings (use external app for this)??
This seems to be pretty damn stable! At least for me.

725 GB works great with CM under 146 !
To be honest i try all BB available at temasek sharefolder with matching RIL (with Getril)
Configuration CM ROM with stock kernel and then MIUI

I guess that i cant use RIL 218 because im on Modaco Gr4 2.3.4. I already try the gsm auto prl and no luck with stability.
What means the "time syncing via android", i did not understand. Explain, please.

Disabile ntp server sync and automatic time sync from network.
ntp server sync and clock sync is already disable...
i don't have pin code asked any more so no network...and baseband is unknown !
Also tried with Gr4 based ROM but signal drop is still there...
PS @ Felipemadox : Those options are in the clock options

I have a 0622 baseband and my phone is from Korea, but i live in Brazil, and i'd like to know if i need to change the baseband because im having some issues with my phone network, like sometimes the phone loses the signal and then it nevers come back and when i go to settings/wireless&networks/mobile/set network
it still lists the operators signal.
And if wanted a factory reset for my phone, how should i do it? Is there anyway to check the original baseband of my phone?
I'm using CM 7.2 with the latest etana kernel.
You can simply install the lastest brazilian LG's FW with its baseband using Smartflash or KDZ You can download all you need in the development section

there are a few things to check before you do anything/flashing:
1) try to check a suitable RIL...use GetRIL app or LG RIL Version app from the play store
2)I remember seeing something about the auto time selection in Temasek's Kang thread...try disabling the automatic time sync.maybe that is a solution.
3)tr changing to Temasek's Kang which is surely one among the best ROMs for O2X. HE ROCKS with his tweaks and cherry picks.
4)try using SU-660 Basebands....some of the devices dont respond well with normal BB.check tonyp's thread for a suitable BB and RIL combo.
going through a NVflash or kdz methods might be reserved for the last.
This is my opinion. but, take ur decision mate
Hope this helps

There is no BB/RIL combination at the moment that works with build version #5. All BBs show the same pincode error. Use build #4, that's working really well. Or have a look at a different ROM like Owain's.

The basebands extracted from the su600(or is 660) are by respected developers to give better soundquality by removing noise in the background. You'd have to flash it then....

Hi all,
owner of an old Galaxy S GT-i9000.
I've installed CyanogenMod 10.1-20130501-nightly-galaxysmtd directly from old standard Samsung installation.
It works fine (Apollo have some crashes but I can wait a stable version)
But there is a problem about modem.bin file and settings.
My offices are partially shielded so with the standard Samsung OS the modem signal go up and down like a yoyo but works (a lot of patience) depending also from position (no openable Windows ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/frown.gif )
With the CyanogenMod (also with stable version and not only with nightly) the line don't exist ...
Not only but if I go along the street the line is off ... I must restart the phone and all works with good performances.
I'm thinking that the modem.bin in CyanogenMod is for a different country of mine.
I'm in Italy and my provider is Wind.
Maybe there is a better (older?) version of modem.bin for Italy & Wind?
So I can install it via Odin in the phone or insert the zip file in internal SD and load it in recovery mode.
Any suggestion is accepted ... I can also testing several versions if it is necessary
Please an help is appreciated ...
Hi...I would suggest you to download getril from the market and check if your ril and baseband versions match...if not you can have some pretty bad problems when it comes to reception.
Also when ril and baseband don't match you can get the, i think it was the jvu ril from the app itself....then flash the jvu modem from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1870460
Another thing that could be is, that the 3g reception in your area is a bit weak....try to force 2g networks and check if it is getting better for you

The reception 3g or 2g is weak because the building is "shielded" (many iron and iron gates so it seems a faraday's cage) ...
I'll try to dl the app you suggest me and I try to use the jvu modem version ... the std should be the jw4 ...
thank a lot I'll give you all feedback
help me plzz...
i upgraded my galaxy s to ics from gingerbread (jw4) and install cyanogenmod 9 rom now i m nt satisfied with ics and got stuck.. i want to get back to gingerbread ....anyone plz help me
Hi all,
I have just flashed CM7.2.0 which I downloaded from the official CM website....the flashing everything went fine but it seems unstable signal wise, high battery useage and also trying to turn on and off Airplane mode it sometimes wont work without a reset of the device. I was thinking possibly a Baseband issue?
The only thing I have no idea what baseband I am meant to be running on Gingerbread CM7....I was on the stock LG ICS rom before flashing. It says my baseband is currently 1035.21_20121130
Can anyone recomend the correct baseband for me?
Is the one above left from when I was running ICS?
Am I correct in thinking when flashing the baseband stays as it is....it doesnt come with the new rom?
I am sorry for all the questions but need big help.
Thanks
Tom

Flashing a custom ROM cannot change your BB. Your BB presently is the ICS BB and ICS BB are always not supportive of the GB systems and communication.Your battery drain signal, drops, maybe because of that too
So, you need to change your BB to a GB BB as the CM7.2 is gingerbread stuff.
Changing the BB is only possible with smart flash or KDZ method. Please check tonyp's Baseband thread in the development section for all the answers for BB.
Hope this helps
