[Q] Two silly Quastions - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, sorry for this but i have two Questions:
1- I have X8 with Synaptic digitizer, so i wonder if this can be changed to Cypress by anyway after the bootloader is cracked.( the problem i read almost all threads and no clear answer to that, is this a software or hardware matter. meaning can be changed by a dev or i need to buy a new phone with Cypress to start with).
2-about bootloader, is it really going to make a difference to our device concerning the stability, speed and perfect ROMs stuff. cuz the ROMs now is very stable, fast and fully working.
thanks for ur understanding and ur patience.

Hey man, Kifak??
1.no, its a hardware issue, dev's can't do anything about it(I asked telelink if I could change it, they said it costs 60 JD's so I wouldn't change it in hell, buying a new phone is better....)
2.yes, big big big big ... big difference, we can have more features, stabler roms, lighter roms, better recovery options, faster system(by changing to ext4) and a lot more.
Offtopic: I'm from Jordan too, live in Amman n I go to the university of Jordan(5etyar ), what about u?
don't answer if u feel uncomfy.
Hope I helped.
Regards

السلام عليكم أولا
thanks man, first of all that explain so much but to let u know telelink isn't SE company in jordan any more there is another one now at the seventh circle but i don't know the name, and if they can change it as u say it will be cheaper because everything is cheaper now after the change.
and i went to TTU (tafila) i graduated 2nd semester this year from civil eng. but i live in amman for now.

wa 3alaykom alsalam
Thnx for the info about telelink man, yet if ur insistent on changing it make sure that u take a look at it first, if it has synaptics or t1021a written on it,don't take it else u got urself a good deal

Why is it risky? Phone can explode?
zzsetozz, you can change you synaptics to a cypress digitizer, you just need to find someone that sells it in the first place.. That's the hard part, the easy part is to disassemble the phone and change them. Also, if you can find someone that sells the digitizer and the front cover as a whole, better since you don't have to glue the new one.
Disassemble guide: http://erkinson.altervista.org/en/sony-ericsson-xperia-x8-smontaggio-e-sostituzione-display-touch/
Note: If you think you don't have enough skills to do it then don't. Although it's pretty easy, some people can f*** up even the easiest things xD

1.Yes, you need to S-OFF first using AlphaRevX and then you can root.
2.Its not up to its 8MP mark, the noise reduction is a lot in the camera, in other words, a 8MP picture on this phone is actually not a 8MP picture. My previous phone that had a 5MP sensor used to take far better pictures.
3.The battery life's great, if you use ARHD ROM it improves even further.
4.No, there is a wifi drop issue but that's with all gingerbread phones.

if your device comes with froyo, update it via OTA or more better is to make a gold card, download a RUU that supports AlphaRevX (WWE European) put it in it and flash via bootloader. Then you can use AlphaRevX to S-OFF.(You will find all such instructions in the android development category) Some new official ROM bases do not support AlphaRevX so it better to update via goldcard just to be safe.
Sense 3.0 ROM i.e Virtious Unity performs very good, doesn't lag at all, comes with a great kernel with OC on demand. I personally don't like sense and am on MIUI. You can give CM7 a try but the buttons won't rotate(not something of much concern, will probably be fixed in the next update) It would be stock vanilla android and you can customize it in any way you like plus it will perform very fast or you could try MIUI which is based on CM7. You could also try ARHD, its clean, fast and stable.

+1 for the amazing reply man . thnx a lot
So now i have made my mind that this phone is my next n first Android
I think its necessary that you should be knowing these 2 minor problems.
1.Back cover creeking, happens to only some people, can be fixed using a plastic tape or piece of paper placed inside. Its nothing to worry about.
2.If you view the rotatable buttons from one side, one will appear brighter than the others, the opposite if you view from the other side. Its probably because of the dual LCD button layers. Again not something of much concerns, if you see it straight, you wont notice. On my phone, I can partially see the landscape search button in portrait mode, it makes it look a bit weird.

Since you're in India, if you but this phone, you will have a Asian ROM so you would have to change to a european one in order to S-OFF. If you need any help later on, don't hesitate to ask.The guides are available in the development section that explain every step in detail.

Should i sale my OB or not giv ur advice

Hi Guyz
I like playing with custom roms & mods recently i use optimus one than Defy i enjoy both of them than i got OB i bought this just bocz its low cost with high specs but after entering to OB thread i saw that there is not much dev here for our OB and very few custom roms available for us after spending 2mnth my favorite rom & his maker lives his job i m taking about Knzo i m really so now i m got offer from 1 person on net to exchange his galaxy s i9000 with my OB so i need some advice from all of u guyz what should i do?
Thanks for ur valuable time for reading & helping me
I really don`t think that guy offerd you his galaxy S for your OB just because OB doesn`t have so much dev support, I think he did it just because OB it`s a better device and in a short matter of time will get much more custom roms than we have right now. we almost have CM 7.1 working now....I`m using it as my daily use right now and it`s awsome. be patient, OB will be a great phone
I used to have a galaxy s i9000 and i was pretty happy, but i know this same feeling is approaching to our LG OPTIMUS BLACK...and i can barely wait for mui roms, cm7 roms...and later on gingerbread update so....stay tuned....
the best for the patience one
just wait for the complete CM7
I have this phone and Samsung Galaxy S2 although GS2 beats it in every test
some odd reason I prefer the Optimus Black and it will be so much better with Gingerbread so my advise is be patient like the rest of us
I think you shoul keep OB it's great and have so many native features that you don't need to download this and that to make those things [i.e. screen shot] even the factory rom, kernel, etc, are good I don't have any of those just rooted it and works pretty awesome actually
If you love to play with roms I think you better go with Google phones like the Nexus ones. Otherwise, keep the OB.
Hey, be patient, wait stable and fast CM release
Yesterday I find a way to take 3500+ in quadrant It is a very nice score. OB look very nice, and has a briliant display, anything is good.
Thanks to all of u guyz today i found a Chinese website over there i found many custom roms for OB i m downloading now lets see how its works

Give a try of this phone man,
for this price i dont think it is a better phone at the moment Its really nice build quality really
May be thats only me,but i really dislike the feel of a Samsungs for now wtf
The difference is like You take example: cheap amplifier and the nice Onkyo one.... you feel it really when use the device itself or an Acer compared to Thinkpad
I hope this will change with Nexus Prime
I am not a gamer,so for me its ok for now and cant find that combinationrice+4 inch great display+nice build quality+verry stylish+rare look(i mean everyone have HTC,SGS,iPhone)

i am bout to buy the gnote..have been reading about rooting nd custom rom..nd want to rotate homescreen..
As far as i know ther are more cons than pros to rooting..such as bricking..
But some ppl get faulty phones with bad battery life, auto shutdown, lags..over heating..
I dont know what to do..
I do think that its a great phone nd wont require rooting..as ics is coming..nd hopefully jellybean soon after that..
I just dont kno wat to do..i want advice frm some1 who reali is a 'knowitall'

There's no cons to rooting whatsoever, provided the user reads and follows the rooting guide in the Dev section. It's easy and trouble-free. There's been but a single instance (Angelom's ICS kernel combined with touch-recovery) of mass bricking. That kernel is out of circulation now, so nothing to fear there.
All other 'plz help, bricked' threads are created by the people who were careless and didn't read, period.

Battery life depends on what user does with their phone, IMO. If one keeps all syncing, GPS, data and whatnot on all the time, their battery will be shot on any phone.

No reason I can think of apart from bragging about benchmark results.
wow duude!
Cheers like, your reply was just great!
Yeh! I just stick to Dr. Ketans guide to rootin as tis easy to understand and great. Others have so much updates and editin it becomes hard to keep track as my net provider is messed up... i get only 5-6 kbps
Should i actually get a custom rom, or its no use as the stock rom and ics is coming up.
Is gnote actually worth it or should i get some other phone ( N.B. i am getting the phone imported and i wont have warranty applicable after shipping it out of europe... and the sending faulty phones back from here is risky as it hardly makes it through due to customs.
I also had some hard time thinking about buying SGN. Now I have it for 2 weeks running on stock ROM (I don't have time now for rooting $ stuff...) and I don't have any problem at all.
My advise - Go For It!

If you follow the exact method described in the Dr. Ketans guide thread there's no risk of bricking.
At present you cannot find a power house like this in the market... Even you can make this device much more powerful upto 1.7 ghz speed... Nothing can beat this at the moment (as per my knowledge) So if you want power house like this, there's no other option than buying this beast. Definitely it worth it.
Regarding custom rom... Its good but if you wanna feel like this device is made exactly for you.. Go for a custom rom.. Its lots of fun and excitement.. You can make this to work which ever way up want..
Buy it.. And make others envy..
One thing I will say, get a case for it straight away. The placement of the power/volume buttons make it a hard phone to use "naked". I got a rubber bumper case and used box cutters to take out the notches where the buttons are, to make them recessed to allow me to hold the phone how I prefer. Makes the whole experience much more comfy especially for gaming.
P.S. Overclocking reduces the lifespan of any device. You're trading lifespan for speed. If anything I would underclock it to give it better thermal control.
Guys did you know what is the best retail price to buy a GNote and the site

this is Sense4 for OneX i used. and yes, its possible, OneX and o4x is hardware wise pretty similar on cpu/gfx chipset. rest is different but can be fixed i believe.
Sounds great. Just thought the locked bootloader could be a problem for this but you've just made a flashable launcher, am I right? And btw I would very much appreciate if you released this.

Sense4 is not a flashable launcher, but the complete rom, since Sense is integrated into all the framework of ICS and android, so you cannot run widgets or apps without having the sense core framework and native libraries associated.
but i will make it a flashable zip through CWM, if decision is to do it.
Sounds like a great idea. Yes, I think this would be highly helpful as then we have a base to work with. How much work in your opinion would it be to get it to work with phone?
Noooooooo, please don't quit with this phone. I am losing my faith that we will ever have anything else than the stock rom

personally i believe its a though one. functionality in the framework (telephony) needs to be ported into the htc framework, or vice versa if possible.
but the radio someone seems similar , but honestly i am not technical radio expert, but they share the 6260 radio name on htc as well, maybe a nvidia radio compatibility thing.
Its not a case of putting the LG ril files in the HTC framework is it?
Good Job Dexter_nlb!!!!

i was told it was that simple on the GSIII port, which seemed to die, although they claimed to have phone working
but here its not that simple. i try to follow the logs with "logcat -b radio" and you do see its being setup with lge-ril.so , but then telephony framework seems to identify it as cdma and other calls to framework fails.
i believe some lge services are required to utilize the functions fully.
Hmm, I will deffianetly have a look if and when you release it
Well it definitely seems smmother running on O4X thatn it does on the HOX. So dear friend, can you share with us the zip and see what we can do with it?

unlocking bootloader does not resolve the modem driver needed to be compiled and Integrated without the security checks they put into it, and that the driver needs to handle the modem different from previous models.
but the backup got lost since the device was delivered to another person with the sdcard erased and backup was on it
i do not believe another pc backup exists, sorry.

yes, that happened already when my GnoteII arrived, i really prefer that one over o4x, coming from HTC flyer with scribe functions as well and the 5.5" display i like soo much now
^I can understand you mate. GNote2 is a great device and right open for experimentation from the get-go...I was considering it but the sheer size of it, is simply beyond my willingness to suffer carrying it in a handbag! I always demand for my devices to fit in my pocket no matter the slimness and that's the final deciding factor for me.
i might get a chance to rebuild my htc build (4.0.4 edition), it seems camera+wifi+bt works , but audio is now an issue.
ill keep this thread updated, if i get more progress. I probably need to return the o4x soon.
and no, HTC JB 4.1.2 is not possible , as we havent got any updated camera, audio, wifi libs to support the changes, so porting is impossible.
That's way better than nothing, mate. Thanks for your efforts, I'm interested in trying it out.

[Q] Android 4.2.2 for x8?

More like a rage, than a question, but... why is there no one trying to port 4.2.2 for ours x8?
Many lower spec phones have a port, wich to be fair, do have bugs, but at least have it. What happened to the x8 dev scene? Many thanks to nAa for keeping x8 alive, but is there no one else that can scratch the surface of 4.2.2? Plus with the .32 kernel aren't things supposed to be fair easily in porting?
I see nAa wrote 4.1.0 is coming, but... i sure would want 4.2.2 for my baby

I must admit that I am working on that but I'd prefer you to be patient in this area
For experience of 4.2.2 we need many requirements, ex:
unlocked BL
A new kernel (for bugless roms)
Enough knowledge for cooking kernel(we need to partition internal memory{for heavy 4.2.2} which was not necessary on gb)
Jtag tools (cooking kernel is a sensitive progress & hard bricks is so regular)
& just some developers have the knowledge & tools for cooking
#& I'm pretty sure if a recognized developer cook that kernel there will be a lot of roms for working on it
