Suck it stock IncS.

3651 at that same frequency.
my loss of points was SD card because I'm using a class 2 16gb card, not the 8gb class 4 that came with it.

Different benchmarks as I took them a few weeks ago, but could be interesting for the sake of comparison anyways. The first picture was taken at stock clock speed using the Quadrant benchmark. The second was taken @ 1209MHz and the third @ 1401MHz I believe (I didn't take note so it may vary +- 100MHz). I wasn't brave enough to go any higher Although I know that the Tiamat kernel could allow you to go up to 2.0GHz which is just ridiculous. Setup shown in my signature.

i tested several roms using antutu benchmark. when i compare my results with other IncS results i get less points (between 2600-2900). the main difference i saw are the points CPU integer (~740 , but others guys had ~1000) and CPU floatpoints (~320). tried on cleam roms and roms i tweaked with beater etc..
is it possible that i harmed my CPU with OC/UV in the past?
are my UV settings restored to default after flashing a new rom?

All I know is that guy has an Incredible S phone and today isn't national trolling day, right? So this even is actually possible, but still very hard to believe. Even though he managed to overclock it's GPU then it's more reasonable...

The uv/oc setting s are always restored to the kernel default once your phone is restarted unless you have your app set to "set on boot" which is never a good idea as bricks are made this way. And yes when you flash a new Rom it installs a new kernel and your setting s are set to the kernels default until you set up your oc app from wihtin your Rom.

That bench was clocked at 1804 it tottally depends on which Rom your using and which kernel. That was cm nihtlies and I can't remember the kernel, all I remember was the title contained the words "lightning fast". I've used roms with kernels that won't let you surpass 1.1 ghz and I've used ones that let you o.c. to 2.1. Weather or not your phone locks up is a different story. It doesn't seem to matter if its sense or aosp as I've had both clocked over 1.8. Generally the phone will freeze if you have uncompatible settings and it tries to run more than 4 processes at once.

here's mine.
Cyanogenmod 7 Nightly + Lord Clockan's kernel also ICS theme really looks great.
This bench is at 1.6Ghz but normally it's set to ~1.2Ghz and get almost 3 days battery life.
Incredible S is an incredible phone!

What clock frequencies are you guys using. I am running at 1ghz 59vsel and the battery life isn't as good as 550 mhz (I know it shouldn't be). What frequencies and vsels are you guys using and what's the battery life like.
Also what roms are you guys using. I'm on cyanogenmod7. I was on cronos gingerbread for a while but it doesmt seem to go on standby. Anyone help?

I'm running Bugless Beast (GPA 15 Beta) with a 1.25 ghz low voltage kernel + comp cache enabled. It's rare for me to need to plug in the phone more than once a day to charge. Just google Peter Alfonso. He not only develops the ROMs but the kernels as well. He's doing AOSP Gingerbread builds that I find to be superior to CM7.
Isn't Bugless Beast only for Droid? Because I think he might be asking about Milestone.

Thanks for the help so far guys. I've found gingerbread roms rtather slow when it comes to gaming (probably because gingerbread has not been released officially to any sgx530 phones). Right now I'm running on 1GHz with 66vsel, but still battery life isn't good enough. I tried 59vsel like @choudu1, but phone is unstable and restarts every now and then.
I'm not sure if I need any more power since almost every game I've played runs smoothly and the phone is quite stable. The only games I can't run on decent framerate are Soul Reaver and Tekken 3 via PSX emulator psx4droid.
Running CM7 from 14.06 without problems.
Clocks:
800Mhz vsel 52
700Mhz vsel 44
600Mhz vsel 42
400Mhz vsel 35
250Mhz vsel 25

My battery can stand for two days with (my) normal use(few calls, few sms, some games, some internet using wi-fi, but not often). With heavy use it can stand for (almost) one day.

Before something changed I was able to get 3400 with 1Ghz and vorkkernel
So, this means that my score is bad?
What can I do to make it better?
Stock phone I was scoring like 2700, Volkernel 1Ghz like 2900 and now at 1.4Ghz with 3900.
Stock Galaxy S II scores something like 3200 if I remember.
Maybe you were running 1.1.6 version of Quadrant no?
that just score, and in benchmark, you will not see difference between 3000 and 3400 when you use it. the best combination is, when you feel a very big woow.
i got that feel with latest GO Launcher EX, and stock v10D with latest neoblaze [email protected] ext4, i removed cardock or what, and now i see a very very big difference with a very good standby time.
very fast scrolls in browser, gallery, and settings and launcher, install apps 5x faster, take shot 2x faster with camera, and the speed in browser is extremly fast. it boots much faster, you can try init.d tweaks for memory management.
and now... you can spend your time with make your homescreen, or skin nicer and nicer, and then share with us
With topogigi v1.7, OC at 1,4GHz got 4110 in quadrant!
At 1GHz was 3231
Edit with v1.9 +SP1 & HP kernel RC1 @1,4GHz "4416"
Custom kernels support "epeen enlargment".
Thats a different aproach to how sql database writes which doesnt make difference in speed in real use but makes a huge diference in benchmarks.
Where you see "sql hack" avoid it. No real advantage and it could be a potentcial data loss.
So there is a big part of the change
Wow...Reading this I feel like I still have to learn a lot about Android developments! hehe
In general I'm very satisfied with my phone, its fast, stable, never had an error.
I'll see if I can touch the 4000 score without increase processor speed, any tip?
I'm currently using CM7 Nightly 156 + Vorkernel 2.6.32.41 with Ginger 2.3.5.
Edit:
Guys, my 3g network was bad and I tried to restart my phone, when initializing he froze on LG logo (second one). I tried to replace the Kernel and had no success, so I had to reinstall CM7!! And the phone worked....I think that the problem was a Vorkernel update that I made by a program called Vorkernel update inside the OS!
Now I'm using the stock kernel from CM7 till get home at least. I ran Quadrant again and got 3143 point @1.0Ghz! That is a lot! hehe
Leaked GB 2.3.4

Ah.. 3182 now, overclocking program wasn't working!

Yeap, in Topogigi's thread a guy showed a nearly 5000 screenshot with some tweaks of his own..
It's probably good to remind that tweaking a ROM to have better scores in benchmarks doesn't mean a better user experience in practical use.
When you know which tests are made by the benchmark app, you can optimize the dedicated part of code in ROM to have better results, it dosn't mean the entire ROM will be snappier. The most famous is sqlite optimizations as all benchmarks use sqlite tests...
So it can give a good idea but it's not the Holy Bible...

Simply AMAZING!!!!
damnit, we need the bootloader unlocked SO BAD!!!!
though how's battery life? LOL bet it takes a monster hit.
im sure Sense brings it down alot...I was able to get ~3200 on the stock skyrocket.
Now don't take this the wrong way, I love my htc phones. But if you really want to see some blazing quadrant scores pick up an atrix, put cm7 on it with faux kernel and o/c it and you will be pushing close to 5000 if not over. I wish I had some pics of the one I had, the thing was crazy fast. I have up an international sgs2 and kept the atrix because it was so much faster.
I am stunned that the vivid score is so low being o/c so high, mine is the att version so I can't really enjoy playing with it like others can but my amaze running the stock kernel at 1.5GHz only gets to around 2770 at its highest. If I didn't love sense so much I'd flash a rom that doesn't have it just to see how much faster it is.

I'm a noob and my english isn't very good so excuse me if u find some mistakes
My question is this: I'm running Nicks Sense 4a Rom and everything is very smooth and fast and i've got no problems with it. Yesterday i downloaded the quadrand benchmark test and I got only 1065 Points....Is this normal?
the second time i got 1105 and this was the best...so is there anybody who can say why the incs is so bad at this benchmark test?
It's because sense takes up 500mb + of internal memory. I don't believe niks roms are on the "lite" side either. Not sure if he's overclocked it yet as I think he's using the standard kernel. A little overclocking and some cleanup of internal memory space should do the trick.

I don't think ROM becomes better in case benchmark will show higher numbers just use your phone and enjoy it
Btw, I think quadrant may show so low results because this ROM was ported and we don't have official update to ics.

Benchmarks aren't all that, they're mostly an e-peen thing. If you notice no performance issues, and can do whatever you want to do with the ROM, than it's a good ROM. Getting a ROM purely because it has good benchmarks, but has sucky on-hand experience is a pretty weird thing to do.
=> Don't base your opinion on a Rom on benchmarks, they're not what they're propped up to be

[KERNEL] 2.55 GHz overclock for SHIELD (need testers!)

2.55 GHz overclock for SHIELD
Please help test this - while there is definitely a measurable improvement in performance, it is kind of inconsistent with the sort of increases I'd expect this clock speed to bring. I have been testing this for a few days, and I'm not quite sure whether this is due to the hardware reporting the wrong clock speeds on the relevant PLLs, an overgressive power management/dvfs quirk, or a bottleneck somewhere. I did have to track down a kernel bug preventing higher clocks that turned out to be an issue with NVIDIA using a signed long where they should have used an unsigned long.
Flashing:
0. Make sure you are on the current OTA.
1. Unlock your bootloader.
2. Test the kernel: fastboot boot boot-roth-oc.img
3. See if it crashes while booting. If it does, don't proceed to the next step, and post a reply below. Before you flash, verify that you're running my kernel by checking for "[email protected]" either in the Kernel Version field in About SHIELD, doing a cat /proc/version (in case you didn't see it crashing), or verifying the maximum CPU speed is 2550 MHz.
4. If all goes well, flash the kernel: fastboot flash boot boot-roth-oc.img
Note: This boot.img is insecure (ro.secure=0) for easier debugging. Userspace apps shouldn't work yet, so this boots at 2550 MHz.
As always, boot/flash this at your own risk, though this kernel doesn't raise voltages much.

DUDE, this is CRAZY! I was getting almost 20 Thousand in Quadrant and 40 Thousand in AnTuTu. I want to see what this can do!
https://twitter.com/wwjoshdew/status/363142322529116160/photo/1
I haven't unlocked mine, but I will soon. Then I'd be more than happy to try out a custom kernel.
OH GOD. What are heat levels? This seems like a good way to melt hands off haha. Has anyone gotten access to the internal fans yet? If I attempt an overclock like this I'd want to have control over them like I do my desktop GPU.
Confirmed working here. Neat! Thanks very much.
Tried your Kernel. So far so good.
And the reason why you see such a inconsistent performance level is because nVidia has different CPU clocks for the Core usage:
1 Thread - Max Clock (1912MHz or with your Kernel)
2 Thread - Max Clock (1810 - 1912MHz)
4 Thread - Max Clock (1420 MHz)
/edit: Forcing a clock helps to prevent from downclocking. Antutu was 42xxx points. PPSSPP runs much better. Great work.
/edit 2: I think Tegra 4 can't statisfy a quadcore A15 with enough bandwidth. I have a CPU benchmark with scales up from 1400MHz to 2520MHz and giving 38% more performance. I see no throttling.
/edit3: Okay, i think you are right. It's not working. There is no scaling going up from 1912Mhz to 2550.
Is there a stock kernel image readily available?
Thanks!

I've been watching this thread for a couple days, nooo further responses? I take it everyone fried their Shields? Just waiting in anticipation for good news
Sent from my SHIELD using xda app-developers app
How about GPU overclocking? That will be interesting also.
Going to give this a go tonight, would it be possible to provide the stock kernel in case this one is not as stable as it might appear after initial stress testing?
Edit: nvm on stock kernel, just saw that you flash the stock boot.img
Update: booted the kernel and ran a series of benchmarks to stress test. All is stable, will be flashing for daily use.

Not sure if this has been brought up but when the Shield goes to sleep clock rate drops by almost half on the factory kernel both on the CPU and the GPU.
Could this issue be due to that as well?
Unity engine games and live wallpapers seem to restore it to full speed.
I'll be glad to test this. as soon as i get my Shield, that is.
hopefully by the end of next month.
antutu scores have not noticably gone up with the kernel update. fyi
Flashed this kernel after the new build 59 update today and my wifi is broken.
Could be the update itself since I didn't check before I flashed the kernel. Just throwing out to see if others have the same issue.
