green notification light? - Motorola Droid Bionic

Every time I reboot my phone and then turn the screen off the green notification light is blinking ....not sure why, I have no new text or mail or anything...not sure if anyone else is having this happen

That used to happen on my thunderbolt as well. (Havent exp this on my bionic yet though.) Have you tried pulling your notificatoin drawer all the way down, and letting it sit for a few seconds before throwing it back up to the top? that used to work for me.

Mine does it and that is what it takes to reset the notification LED.

This happened to me when I tried using Zeam Launcher. Got rid of it and the issue stopped, the screen cooled down, and the battery life came back.

[Q] Can you help me figure out this weird screen crash?

I've got a Captivate running base Andromeda 3. I believe I had this issue prior to that, but I cannot be sure. Here's the behavior:
I use the Google Desk Clock overnight while I charge my phone. In the Morning, when I unplug it, everything works fine, regardless of whether I let the screen time out or press the power button to turn it off. Somewhere in the next hour, it may be 3 minutes it may be closer to an hour, the screen decides it WILL NOT turn back on.
The phone is still on, the softkeys still light up, the phone still rings and receives messages. I can even answer the call and talk, just based on knowing where the answer slider is.
Interestingly, if I wait for the call to STOP, the screen will come back ON, but then won't really work. It wants to hang and/or freeze on whatever given home screen you come back to.
Holding volume up plus power to force reboot fixes the issue until the next morning.
I had other issues a long time ago on another rom with LauncherPro, and had switched to ADW. When I mentioned this issue in the Andromeda thread, it was suggested I switch to Zeam. The problem persists and interestingly, about 50% of the time when the phone turns back on, Zeam has decided I only need 3 instead of 5 home screens. Editing the setting brings back the home screens and their setup, weird.
I thought maybe it was Clockr, not clockr.
Using BattStat, SiMi Clock, GVoice, and Keyring widgets. I can't imagine any of my installed apps would make a difference, I'll list them if necessary.
I believe Andromeda (Froyo?) does some weird things with shutting down apps, I'm wondering if it possibly has something to do with that. The problem never happens again during the day, so clearly it either has to do with charging or with the GDesk Clock, or both. Happy to hear any thoughts. Please?
One more thing: While the screen is off but the phone is on, it DESTROYS my battery. Seriously, it'll eat 15% in 20 minutes.

I've read something about that couple days ago. If you do a little search, I'm sure you'll find it (can't remember what the thread was called)
Also, black screen usually happens with UV. which brings me to ask.. Do you OC/UV?
Andromeda doesnt do anything differently than any other rom including stock when shutting down apps. there was nothing changed that would change that behavior from any version of 2.2
Unless andromeda does onboard OC/UV, then no, I don't.
Seriously nothing that I can find has changed. I've scoured the boards looking for similar threads, but I suppose I'll start over.
Oc/uv is not available in andromeda without flashing a different kernel

Noticed new icon showing up on my CM7 nook

Currently running n107 + 6/18 kernel & loving it!!
I noticed that I seem to have a new icon sitting right next to my wifi icon, bottom right. It looks like a tiny phone with "rays" emanating from each side of it. I've never seen this before on other builds. It goes away sometimes, but is visible again today.
Tried checking running apps for any clues , but nada. Can anyone explain what exactly it is?
If it is what I am thinking it is, just try turning the volume up. I think it is the "vibrate" option you get when the volume is all the way down.

Launcher Pro black screen on D3

Of course, this is about the Droid 3. Mine has had LauncherPro since day one.
I ran into an odd problem, and repeated it on another Droid 3, even with the new system update. I'm getting a random black screen whenever I turn the screen on from being off. It could be a few seconds, could be minutes, hours, or whenever. Slightly moving the "home screen" left or right allows it to show up.
The bottom task bar is unaffected. Any ideas on how/why this would be happening or how to fix it? I've tried various homescreen and behavior settings in LPro, but nothing has solved it.
Thanks,
yes i have this to, I think it is a gingerbread thing, cause I never had this problem on my D2, until after the gingerbread update, I also have this problem on my D3 as well.
Same here

I have this problem too but only when I exit an app.
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
Same sort of
I also have the dread blank screen (though it's not black, I can see the wallpaper) after exiting apps, especially camera apps, or web apps (e.g.Opera). Sometimes the homescreen stuff does flash on and off, once or more - sometimes bunches. Found that rebooting seems to restabilize things, but it is becoming more annoying over time.
Anyone out there got solution?
I usually just swipe to another home screen. That fixes it (temporarily).
the only time i have this issue is when i first turn the phone on. everything boots up, i swipe the unlock screen and get the black screen with the launcher and everything below in tact. i shift the screen a little to get it to show up and i dont see it again until the next reboot. i never see the issue while switching apps or anything like that. i have arctic grey theme if that says anything to the issue, tho it never really bothered me that much. i could see it getting annoying if it happened all the time.

[Q] Active Display turns on when phone is moved.

This might seem like a dumb question but whenever I set my phone down and it is moved even in the slightest the Active Display lockscreen turns on. Is there anyway possible to disable that?
That's the cool thing about this phone. Don't worry about it

You will get used to it and come to love it. the great thing is that it doesn't adversely effect your battery, it uses the special built in processors. I thought it was weird at first but now I just tap my phone or bump the table to see my notifications.
I love it because I never have to push the power button to turn my device on. This is a great way to save wear and tear on your power button. A lot of devices that rely on one button all the time (power button) end up with that button not working anymore. If I didn't have this option I would be using my volume rocker to power up my phone.

This is easily my favorite feature about the Moto X. All I gotta do is pick up my phone and it automagically shows me any notifications and is ready to be unlocked. Power button? What's that?

I like this feature. I usually tap my finger on the screen or press off to one side so the phone rocks slightly on the curved back to get the display to come on. As someone else said, it saves a lot of wear on the power button. I can't tell you how often I clicked my Razr Maxx on just to see what time it was, and clicked it off again immediately. The button never wore out, but it's nice not having to do it at all.
I do have a question though. I got the phone on Wednesday and didn't notice this at all until this morning, and I don't know if it's normal or not. While getting ready for work this morning I noticed the Active Display fire on and off a few times in a row. I thought since it was right at 7am that I may have gotten a few emails close together or something, and didn't worry about it.
When I got to work I set my phone on my desk and was reading emails and such and I noticed the display puling on and off about every 5-6 seconds. It fades in, holds for maybe 1 second and fades out. It only had one notification, for Plume (Twitter), which only polls every 15 minutes in the background, so I knew it wasn't getting new notifications repeatedly.
I can't remember if this was happening yesterday and I just opened it up right away to see what it was for, or if something actually changed. I disabled Plume from the Active Display list, which didn't change anything, I got the same result for email (Maildroid) and Snapchat.
I guess it kind of makes sense that it repeats, as there is no LED on the phone, but it seems a little excessive. I don't know how much power is saved by using white on black in the small area of the screen, but it's bugging me a little because I don't remember it doing this before.
Thanks for any input anyone has on this...

It's normal. When you have a notification, the screen pulses instead of having a notification LED.
I haven't measured it, but it's my impression that it slows down the pulsing if the phone sits quietly for a while after the notification happens (I seem to notice that, if I ignore the notification, I don't see it as much). It really uses almost no battery, though, so don't worry about it.
Does the phone always light up when driving? I don't remember it happening on my old X but it's lights up at every bump on my new X.
Thinking I've frozen something I shouldn't have. Did not use assist on either phone.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm guessing yesterday I either cleared them quickly, or they were present long enough to go slower and I didn't notice the repetition.
I will have to play around with what I actually want notifications for. Plume (Twitter) is the worst, followed by email. I wish I could turn on different channels for Plume so that Mentions/DMs could go to Active Display, but regular tweets didn't, but still have it do all in the notification shade. I might have to just settle for not getting a notification for all new tweets. Or increase my poll time...
Email might get shut off too. I get too much spam to care, and rarely get any emails that are urgent enough to warrant it.
Yes, mine lights up when driving Lol. The second I press on the gas it lights up, tripped me out the first few days owning the device, but I'm used to it now.

Screen won't stay off, keeps waking up

This has has happened to me 3 times so far while I am plugged in charging overnight. I'll wake up to see that my screen is on. If I hit the power button it will shut off, and then come back on in a second or two. Even if I flip it upside down so the screen is down, I can still see that the screen is still coming on. The only way for me to fix it is to reboot the phone. Anyone else experiencing this?

what your probably referring too is active display. Which if you want off. I also have off is under the moto app
No, that's not it. I'm not talking about how it will come on every 3 seconds when you have a notification. I'm talking about turning fully back on so I can see my home screen.

Nope, that isn't checked. And normally this isn't an issue, only a sporadic thing.
Happened to me again last night, woke up and noticed the screen staying on around 5am. I tried disabling the active display but it didn't stop the screen from coming back on after I shut it off. I did find that when I unplugged it from my charger, the screen stopped coming back on. Does this give anyone any clues?

Its something you have installed.

I believe Safe Mode is still in Android. Try it. Warning: it will break your home screen widget layout.
If it is something that I installed, how can safe mode help me determine what it is?

The same reason it does in Windows. You use it to narrow down what is causing it. If Safe Mode cures the issue, you know for sure its an installed app. From there, process of elimination.
Right?
Just got the phone and have had this happen a few times also. No apps installed that I didn't have on my previous phone.
After a bit more testing I have more information. It seems like it only happens when it is plugged in and has reached a full charge. Once I unplug the phone from its charger, the screen stops coming on by itself. This is still some kind of bug, there's no reason I shouldn't be able to keep the screen off even if it is fully charged and plugged in.

Mine stays off. We cannot really call it a bug if it doesn't happen to everyone else.

Well I didn't think it was something that effected everyone, otherwise I would have found a thread on it. I'm going to try using a different charger tonight and see if that makes a difference.

Fair enough. I still think its an app installed though.
By any chance do you have the notification enabled for when the battery is fully charged?

No, I don't.
Ive tried this for two nights and it doesnt seem like I've had this issue since using a different charger...
My problem turned out to be the button accidentally being pressed and the screen lock setting being set to "5 seconds" after hitting the button, as opposed to right away. So the screen was going off, it wasn't locking, and an errand touch of the side of the phone while moving it would make the screen come back on without seeing the lock screen again because it was within the 5 seconds that the setting enabled. I was not familiar with this setting being on my previous phone and the Turbo was set to this by default. Hope this helps.
I agree that it is a bug, however, I was wondering, is there a way to get rid of that screen entirely? Frankly all that screen does for me is waste the battery, so being able to not have it at all would be great.
