Hi all,
I'm really not a fan of the stock Tron-Like status bar and am thinking about changing it. I have looked into it and can prob figure out how to do everything bar the clock. Would it be possible for someone to walk me through this, or even better provide a CWM flashable zip to change from Stock Xoom to Stock Galaxy Tab?
I'm currently running stock UK 3.1 as i haven't seen a need to Root up until now. I would prefer to stay on the UK 3.1 also, as although i have tried Hammerhead and Morray, i dislike the soundset for the lock-screen and keyboard. (mainly the KB is far too quiet!)
Many Thanks in Advance!
Dex
it wouldn't be hard to change but it would require a rom that has the images you want and we could only change images.
I'm searching for the images now! Its weird, all the images on the Web show the Galaxy 10.1 as having different icons, but every rom i download has Stock HC ones...

For some odd reason everyone likes the stock ones. I don't on my build of mantaray i have the icons and clock font changed. You'll probably have to find a stock rom to get images.
I'll keep looking, in the mean time, i have worked out how to change the font of the clock - do you have any clue on how to change the colour?
Thanks
Just outta curiosity how did u change the font for the clock? I have font changer but I just want to change the clock font

Awsome thanks much appreciated

Hi Everyone,
I've been modding my install of Moray for the last couple days - changing images and backgrounds, trying to remove as much of the blue blur as I can. I've used some images from a tab 10.1 rom I downloaded. I've been pretty successful at this so far.
I've also changed the stock clock, but once I replace the font files, the clock on the lockscreen has a lot of extra space between it and the date, as well a very little bit of the left side is cut off. Any suggestions as to how this can be solved?
Snapshots are below of before & after.

I noticed the font not quite fitting on the lock screen too, so for now i've gone back to stock font for that.
I've used the Galaxy Tab icons and given them the same colour as the Wifi and Battery icons, then used the DroidSans font for the clock and used the same colour there too.
Here is a screen, its simple but far preferable.

How did you change the status bar font, and leave the lockscreen font as stock? Which of the three stock files did you modify?
Also, how did you change the colour of the clock in the status bar? I assumed this was possible with xml files, buti haven't adventured into this area yet.

The status bar clock colour can be changed in SystemUI.apk/res/layout-xlarge/status-bar-notification-area.xml, under the entry "holoclock"
I changed only the AndroidClock-Solid.ttf for the font, the other 2 fonts combine to make the lock screen and notification pop-up font.
All is explained really well on the XML editing here on method 2 in post 3.
Hope This Helps
I would like to change the status bar too!
Here are the pngs for
Wifi
Battery
And toggles (bottom left)
You can edit them how you like and place the in the right apks
(systemui or framework.res)
inside the zip tells you where i got them from
Hope it helps!

Hey is there a flashable zip file that will bring the status bar clock BACK? A lot of the ROMs and Themes have these off and i know some of the themes have versions to flash with or without the clock. But if i flash a theme with a clock but then want a different theme without the option to choose and it doesnt have a clock, it won't stick right?
So is there a way to keep everything i have and just get the clock back?

Greetings ya'll!
My home Screen, Widgets and everything look nearly perfect now that I've upgraded to 2.3.3.
But I'm not advancing when it comes to editing / modding / app using my status a.k.a notification bar.
I'm using LauncherPro though even there I seem to miss a function to exchange symbols / icons in the status bar.
If you know a good app for:
Battery icon change
Wireless Icon change
etc.
for the status / notification bar, please point me the way. Or even discuss which ones exist and are great.
Cheers!
you can modify them yourself with the 'framework-res.apk' you just need to locate and change the .png files.
or quicker way is to just get yourself a theme from the themes section.
lots to choose from, including stock themes with minor tweaks

Yeah there are some themes, though I've my own except for that status bar. And I'm still a bit too much of a noob to undestand how to just edit that status bar, even when using a theme.
I've found the famework-red.apk and installed it. Now trying to figure out the next step...maybe you might be so kind and give me a helping hand?
i wish i could but there are that many files / folders / sub folders i dont know which one is which lol.
what exactly are you trying to do to the status bar ? make it transparent ?

Status bar background: real black
Icon: clock > anything fancier than the original, something a bit blue / modern
icon: wifi > along the same lines
icon: battery > maybe something like the glowing blue circle one
Basically a mod for a status bar revamp would be great.
Example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=837569
That's just green, of course.
why dont you use that example and use some sort of photo suite software to change their colours to blue (or whatever you desire ) or if that is too hard.
ask the Creator of that example how he did it, or would he do it in another colour for you.
I use MIUI and their are millions of themes to choose from so i just stick to that. Im not so good at modding themes, just flashing roms lol
Can the top bar be made transparent so the desktop wallpaper will show through / behind it?
I have used UOT to set the top bar transparent (#000000 @ 50%) and it does appear transparent on lock screens with some of the wallpaper visible, but when I get to the desktop it goes back to solid black. I use go launcher by default but have also checked out the default launcher from Serendipity 7, both show solid black.
Is there a feature / limit in 2.3.3 roms preventing transparent top bar on the desktop?
Tried getting it to work by using the kitchen before and no luck
I'll make it for you. What ROM/theme/mods do you have installed?
Or could you post your SystemUI.apk?

Here's the stock Serendipity VII SystemUI.apk with a 50% transparent status bar. You should be able to use this with the UOT kitchen if you want to change anything, although I've never used it so I'm not completely sure.
take your pick -> APK or CWM zip

No dice. I do have the transparent bar on lock screen, but it still goes solid black on desktop. Would I be better off trying to put a semi trans image for the bar in framework-res.apk? (if that would be the correct place) I have an image file in mind matching my dock bar but it would need to be resized and flipped 180.
Could you assist there as well?

That would be my guess. I edited the .png as black in framework-res.apk and it's always black, no matter what screen. So I guess making that image transparent would be your best bet.
The file is called "statusbar_background.9.png", in framework-res/drawable-hdpi.
Just edit the file and open apk with a zip program then simply drag it back in.

I don't know why that last one didn't work. I put it on my phone and it worked perfectly. Framework-res shouldn't do anything, but then I also thought the last one worked, so I guess it'd be worth a try.
I'm now thinking it's an issue with your launcher, but I don't see how. You've really got me stumped here. Sorry I can't help you further.

Did the late nightlies remove text shadowing on home screens? I had changed my font before, but it doesn't seem like it's my choice of font, I've tried many. With a white background, the text for app icons is white too. Here's a before-and-after comparison.

The fonts are different because of the reflash, I'm trying to find which font I was using before. I don't think I've ever had this problem before, though. I've had light backgrounds before with the default font.
EDIT: found the font, didn't make a difference.
Using Apex Launcher on the latest nightly as of 5/19
Wondering the same thing myself. It looks crappy without the shadow.
Ah, at least I know now that it isn't just me.
I don't understand why they had to remove that...

In an attempt to push forward and encourage Themers from far and wide to develop MIUI Themes for V4.0 MIUI, I have provided the basic XMLS which are used in MIUI V4 Black Android. These are pretty much stripped and defaulted to two tone colours which would be very easy for users to follow, edit and create MIUI V4 Themes, as I class these theme_values as the starting point and base for Dark MIUI V4 Themes.
Over the past few weeks MIUI Android and Xiaomi have been working tightly to address various MIUI V4 Theme issues, there are few minor issues outstanding but most importantly the main Bugs are just about obsolete.
Thanks to the close communication between MIUI Android Team and Xiaomi Team.

Your welcome.
I have a question you may be able to help me with since you know about the theme structures. I swapped some status bar files from a gb theme I like to V4 for my phone(GNex) and the phone signal icons and data icons are kinda on top of each other.
Is there somewhere in the xml files maybe that determines the placement of those since on ics the data icon is right up on the phone signal.
Thanks if you can help me

Hi,
This is not XML related, so your in luck.
What you need to do is compare the GB Pngs against the ICS Pngs from both miuisystemui > drawable-hdpi folders.
You will see some slight differences in dimensions of the pngs, so you may have to adjust the image or canvas size to get it to look just right. Also you could look at the image itsefl and reposition it slightly.
Also, check that the filenames are correct. ICS has slight different filenames compared to GB.

Thanks a lot man. I will check sizes and all that stuff
I'm new to this theming thing so bear with me, but if I wanted to change the color of the text that appears on status bar notifications which value(s) would I have to edit. Because everytime I mix and match themes I always end up with black text on a black backgroud or vice versa

This is the one thing that's driving me nuts about MIUI v4. In previous versions the statusbar icons displayed according to the image dimensions. Now it resizes the icons in seemingly random ways. Icons on the left are shown at 27x27, some on the right are at 38x38, and others seem to be displaying at 35x35. I want the old behaviour back, i.e 25.0dip across the board.
Well, thanks for the xmls, helped me solve an issue.
Hey,
Just wanted to say a BIG thanx for all the hard work! Loving your Black Android theme...
I've started it as my base... and I'm running into two font color problems I was hoping you could help me out with...
When downloading anything... the font is black in the drop down...
And second, the font is black with pop-up notifications...
If you could let me know which values these are... I would greatly appreciate it!

Best option is to grab the xmls from BAT (black Android theme) as its mainly two tone colors for ease. Im not sure if your referring to the status bar of the notification bar. There are xmls in the miuisystemui that might be what you are looking for.

Again same applies to what i mentioned to the above user. Grab the xmls from BAT as a start - thing with MIUI V4 is that there is ALOT of interweaving with colors - you change one part and it affects 3 other things which may mean change pngs, which might not appeal.
The pop up notifications you refer too, im unsure - but if you mean the tiny box at the bottom of the screen then that image can be edited - look for Toast.png in framework and miui framework, hdpi and xhdpi folders.

Yes but BAT 1089 build is also released with images, play ard with it so you build up some knowledge on what affects what and same applies to the theme value.xmls

Samsung Galaxy S II users, there is a known issue for this device, when applying themes - does not apply correctly or permanently. I have mentioned this to the Xiaomi Theme Team and they are working on it.
Seems to affect Samsung devices so they are gonna check out the rest.

have a look at the description file in black android.
make sure your not changing the uiversion or post your description here so i can take a look.
Pele, can you confirm something for me regarding themes not being applied properly in ICS...
On my SGS...
1. Fonts don't apply
2. Certain theme_values.xml's don't seem to be applied. In my experience this is the case with MMS and Contacts... e.g. changing font colours or margins doesn't make a difference. This problem may affect other apk's too.
3. Any change to status_bar_icon_size in fw-res and systemui doesn't make a difference. The values appear to be unchangeable.
4. The secondary text colour in the notification pulldown can't be changed. Having investigated the various xmls, it appears to be hard-coded to a light orange colour.
I was wondering if you can confirm whether these issues also affect the SGS2, and whether some or all of these are Samsung-specific problems.
MIUIv4 still has a long way to go imo before it's as theme-friendly as GB.

Hi Jumba,
ok
1. Currently discussing this with Xiaomi and finding ways and solutions around this ( GB and ICS have different Font systems )
2. Could you explain a bit more in detail on this, afaik MMS is fully editable
3. You should be able to change these but give me an example and if you are working with HDPI/XHDPI or both.
4. discussing this at the moment - though making good progress with some findings - hoping to have a automated way around this, at the moment its a manual method.
Yes Samsung devices and now possibly others are affected, though we have a solution, just seeing if it can be automated.
My aim is to get V4 Theme-Dev 110% editable - every visual UI editable.

the preview pngs erm.... i dont know the V4 names off by heart but if you download a chinese V4 theme it should have the correct names for each preview image. also make sure your previews are in reasonable size e.g. 400x800 or xhdpi size.
