I'm trying to flash the leaked update, but when I hit x+power to get into recovery all I get is a white triangle with a yellow exclamation point and the little android.
I have the file named update.zip on the external sd card.
I get no menu's, no options, nothing on the screen besides the background mentioned above.
Any idea's on whats going wrong?

While looking at the screen with exclamation point, push and hold volume up, then while holding volume up press volume down.

ok thats a step forwards, are you trying to root? what thread/steps are you following?
i installed it because i wanted to make somthing with the language
but now i can enter my recovery menu or skip gmail reg
when ur on the screen with the triangle and exclamation point in the middle, press "ALT + L" and see if you get options if you do then your in recovery and everything works. Just reinstall cyanogen 1.4 recovery. Im not exactly sure what your trying to do. but see if that works.
this are the options i get
alt+l- toggle log
alt+s-apply sdcard:update.zip
alt+n- wipe data/factory reset
when im trying alt+s it does nothing shold i try farctory reset and wont it delete the option of sim free?
do you even have an update.zip on your sd? I also suggest that you just boot up regularly and switch to cyanogen 1.4 recovery as its easier to do well, everything. Doing a factory reset wont delete anything on your SD, HOWEVER it wont change the current state that your in.
how
how do i switch to cyanogen 1.4 recovery
and i dont have the update.zip on my sd card
and i dont have the update.zip on my sd card

Just so you know, what you are seeing IS the recovery. As been said above, press Alt+L to show the text.
go to the developement thread, to find out how to root if you havent done that already and then look for cyanogen 1.4 recovery. In that thread it will tell you how to install the recovery.
Hi there,
I recently flashed KitKat to my one used the pre-rooted RUU.
(I am S-OFF with SuperCID)
After that I tried to get into recovery, just to see if its working.
But when I click on RECOVERY with the power button after some seconds a red exclamation mark shows up (see attachment).
So I tried to extract the recovery.img from the firmware.zip file, linked in the RUU-Thread.
I flashed this recovery.img with: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
But this changed anything.
So I tried the a stock recovery from this thread which changed the situation to an other red exclamation mark.
What does the red exclamation mark mean and how can I get rid of it?
Thank you!

This is the stock recovery, you need to press vol + and power I think to enter menu
Hold your volume down and power keys until the bootloader starts up.
Using the volume keys, navigate down to RECOVERY and press power.
Wait until the icon has stopped spinning and you see the android with the red exclamation mark above it.
First hold volume up, then (with volume up held down) press power to enter the main recovery menu.

This is normal. Hold power and press volume up once when that screen appears to enter recovery.

Ahh good to know. I had no idea it was normal as I've never seen the nexus 6 stock recovery screen. I expected to see an android guy on his back but not the red exclamation point in the box. Thank you again!
I absolutely cannot get a recovery to flash. I was running 5.1.1, unencrypted, rooted, twrp, etc. Went to flash the new 3rd M preview and kept getting an error on boot about the phone being corrupt or something. It would still boot and work fine and everything, just had the warning on boot. Tried booting into recovery and I got the alien with exclamation point above it (won't boot into recovery, it doesn't seem to exist). I've tried manually flashing both stock recovery, twrp, whole OTA files from both 5.1.1 and 6... pretty much everything I can think of. It's like the recovery partition just isn't taking the file when it is pushed. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
When you booted into recovery and got to the screen where you saw the android with the exclamation point above it, you did press power+volume up correct?

I pressed vol down + power to boot into the bootloader, then volume up to recovery, then power to go into recovery. Same thing, just a longer way, right?

When you get to the screen with the android with the exclamation point above it, press power and volume up at the same time. That will let you access stock recovery.

Doesn't do anything. Just stays on the screen with the small android lying down with the exclamation mark.
Edit: After trying repeatedly, that worked, not sure what I was doing wrong. Thanks for the help. At least I know it's not completely broken lol.

I'm having the same issue except my phone doesn't power up. I'm able to get into recovery and into the bootloader but I can't flash anything since my device is not being read by my computer. Any suggestions?

Please give full details of your issue, your OS on your computer, the files you are trying to flash and your steps already tried. Screenshots also help.

I think the sequence should be to hold the power button and press and release the vol up then release pwr from the android on his back.
So as I was trying to root my phone, I noticed that when I went into recovery mode, it now gave me the option for what boot mode I wanted (Recovery, Fastboot, and normal) but when I chose Recovery Mode, it just shows a Android laying on its back with a red triangle warning sign and says "No command". No buttons I push do anything and I end up just holding power until it resets (if I leave it long enough, it reboots on it's own). I've no idea what happened to it and any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is the stock recovery after the OTA update. They changed it.
I forget, exactly but I think from that screen hold volume either up or down (one of them) and you get stock recovery menu.
