[MiniCM7][Q]Change MAC to original - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everybody !
My problem is that I can't connect anymore to my wifi with MiniCM7 2.0.7.
The MAC address has changed with this update to 08:00:28:12:34:56, which is the fake MAC instead of b8:f9:34:....
At home, I have a MAC filter, and cannot modify it.
So, how can I change this MAC address ?
Thanks !

You can't modify the MAC filter? That's just wrong...

No I can't, because I don't have rights on it !
It's because I ask that...
Please help me !

Maybe do a hard reset on your Router/access point, then you get admin privileges

Why does miniCM changes the mac address in the first place? And why does it always change to the same one? Just asking, i know nothing about it

I tried ip link set wlan0 address ...
In busybox ifconfig, the address seems to be okay, but, in facts, nothing changes...
So, is it possible to put this command before wifi init ?
I already tried in /etc/bash/bashrc, /init.rc, /init.delta.rc. but it doesn't work...

Listen I was in miniCM7 rom everything work good even the wi-fi . So I suggest you to install GingerDX v012 cuz everything work good also in the benchmark the result hit 1100 ! And GingerDX is the better rom for gaming!
Wish this could help ya.
(plz hit the thanks button if I helped ya)

You didn't have problems because you probably didn't have a MAC filter in your router, so a mac address change went unnoticed.
Sorry OP, try asking the ROM developer..

Just install another ROM, as we have so much of them for our X8-thanks to all our great devs!

Same problem here... Three phones running the same rom, all with the mac 08:00:28:12:34:56. Tried to post @ MiniCM7 thread but I don't have permission to do it.
Also I've notice that use the x8 as gateway/router does not work. Probably something related with the cloned MAC (08:00:28:12:34:56)...
I like this ROM. The battery is lasting almost 2 days; but I can't stay with several devices with the same MAC
cheers.

[Q] X8 Keeps rebooting

Hello all
I have a X8 .. was rooted and had installed the xrecovery a while back but until my phone froze and had to install the stock one from the pc suite. Well .. done that succesfuly ..phone worked like 10 minutes and then it went crazy again . Now it`s rebooting on and on .. Dunno what baseband i`m on curently now .. recovery doesen`t work anymore .. :| All I now is that i`m on android 2.1 update 1 ( I think ) and i have a logcat that goes like this http://pastebin.com/index/LDgYKHkM ( sorry .. didn`t knew how to make pastebin apear here :> )
I`d appreciate if anyone could please read the logcat .. and give me a solution.
Thx alot
Anyone? Please?
Sorry i cant help, i asked a friend to look but all he said was to repair with pc companion or use flashtool to flash new baseband. There is a thread in x8 development on basebands. Sorry i cant be more help, i only posted to assure u your not been ignored. Il keep asking and searching until i find an answer. Good luck and if you find a fix would you post here in the hope that othes that might have the same problem stumble upon it.

Thx ... really apreciate that u replied I`ve flashed the last few days some Roms .. and nothing seems to work :| The best i`ve got from an official Rom was about 7 hrs .. and then it went crazy again ) Now flashing the 1.6 :| I`m starting to think this is not a software related problem .
Its very strange, it may be the kernel thats at fault, my wife updated to 2.1 through pc companion but somehow kept the old kernel and her phone went crazy. Random reboots, wifi drop out and couldn't install large apps like angry birds. It may have been that she kept old baseband but upgraded the kernel, i forget now. But the problem was solved when they were both updated. Did you root each time you fixed it? Or does it still mess up without root?

?
1.6 seems to work properly .. so I don`t think it`s a hardware related problem ... now i`m really pissed!
Check the baseband so. It's sounds like your on old baseband. Flashtool should sort it and allow 2.1 update. There's a thread here somewhere, I'm on mobile app so can't post link. I'm having a few probs myself, just upgraded to new froyobread 2.3 and everything force close. Don't you just love technology.

[Q] GingerDX 802.1x EAP Wi-Fi BUG!!!! Anyone solved out?

I have ginger dx (v22) on my x8. On my university I have wi-fi with 802.1x security. (eduroam) My x8 can find the spot, and i enter all e-mail informations and password correct, but i can't connect to it. I know it's not because of hardware, my friend has x8 (official 2.1 android) and he can connect to it with my data.
Except of this problem, everything other on ginger dx work perfect.
I've seen other users also have problems with this, not just with ginger dx , with other custom roms too.
Has someone solved this problem?
Try going to wifi settings, advanced settings then try 11 channel domain.

here is a solution for the eduroam problem (the section "Fixing wpa_supplicant").
http://www.gnuyork.org/en/eduroam-android-2-3.html
my phone (e15i / x8) is now able to connect the university network...
Thank you a lot, i will try it tommorow and tell you if it works.
It works, thank you!
Hi..i tried the "Fixing wpa_supplicant" method and followed exactly the steps provided in the link. However, the same problem still exists. I could not connect to uni wi-fi and it keep goes on like scanning, connecting, disconnecting..
For your information, i rooted my x8 with GingerXperia REVOLUTION V3. Is is because the android version i rooted with is not GingerDX and so, the steps are different?
I even tried to install the certificate provided in the above link and put it as CA certificate but it still failed
Can pls guide me? i a noob here. Thanks a lot.

Well, it looks like you're the only one (or part of the few) experiencing problems like this. I have v24+stock modules/on stock kernel. And everything works fine. I use wi-fi at home+wi-fi at work+(rarely)some hotspot near me+data when i need maps and i'm on the road(i don't keep maps installed, i download it when i need it then i trash it)...Actually done all that above since last update, and never experienced any problems.
So that anyone here can land you a helping hand you should provide us with some info:
what kernel?
did you full wipe after flashing?
did you flash modules for your kernel?
did you flash any third party mod/update/zip of any kind?
...mm...whatever you think is relevant.
good luck!
Just make a full wipe and flash again
Should work

The files that you are sending should be recognized by the phone like mp3 jpg etc unknown file formats cannot be sent
Did you pair the two devices properly?

That is an utter nonsense, if you have a samsung like s2 you can send any type of file. This is android stock behaviour that sucks.
Bluetooth file sharing service killed by stock rom taskmanager or something ... just reboot the device and try again ..

It seems is a know issue:

Flash to stock via ODIN. Check bluetooth. Change ROM to your liking.

Does our hardware support Wifi Direct? Or is it supported(theoretically) just by having Wifi hardware?

its somewat working!!
Hi I can search other wifi direct devices and i can connect with them successfully but Not able to share anything between devices.
When developers can get this much to work, then there should be some way to get this fully working.
And if it has to purely do with Hardware, then its obvious no one can get this fixed for us.
Anyways someone who can confirm if its hardware or firmware??

Hmm there is a way you can confirm it for us if you can connect to another device with wifi direct, run adb logcat then try sharing something with them. Copy and paste the logcat into a blank text file and upload it here.

Do you have adb installed on your computer? If you do, when your phone is attached type in "adb logcat" and it will bring up a whole story of nonsense words and logs. That is a logcat It is useful for spotting errors
I like this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.jtb.alogcat&hl=en its got pretty colours.
Is there any update on this? Technically, I don't see why this wouldn't work if it gets as far as discovering devices. From what I've read, Wi-Fi direct is purely implemented in software (mostly as part of the firmware).
