Droid 3 Brick Recovery
Thanks to Psouza4 I was able to recover my bricked Driod 3 this morning
This is the link to the post with all the files neccassary
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17427668&postcount=84
You have to first boot the phone into recovery mode
Step 1. Turn your phone on, Hold both Volume buttons while turning on press Vol - until you get to AP Fastboot then press Vol +
Step 2.Plug the phone to your computer by usb while in AP fastboot mode
Than follow Psouza4 directions the script does all the work.
Indebted
Is there any way to recover my phone at the moment without a usb? At the moment my phone or RSD does not recognize that there is a connection.

Nope. Make sure you're in the fastboot menu when you try to connect to RSDLite--> From powered off state hold M+power. Also to be doubly sure use the USB cord that came with the phone.
I hope this will work for the XT860! Could get tricky since there are 3 versions of the Droid 3 that I know of.

Since we can force dl mode with sa jig, is it possible for a differently configured jig to do the same with revovery mode?
What are you trying to do?
Think about it, if you need a jig that likely means your software on your phone is toast, so would be recovery
If the phone can boot you can use abd to force recovery

Thinking about folks that lose 3 button when flashing with odin. Not everyone is comfortable with adb (myself included). I was wondering IF it was possible.

you can unbrick you galaxy S without jtag or jig , here is the steps:
1- Start Odin
2- Attach the USB cable to the PC (DO NOT ATTACH IT TO THE PHONE)
3- Press and hold "Volume up" and "home" buttons
4- Attach the USB cable to the phone while holding both buttons
5- The phone will enter in download mode
Install a new firmware and everything is going to be OK

Jig is amazing! Now Monday and I got the mail. One try, and into Odin 1.82 and I even completed the talon1.3 kernel load.. All in under 60 seconds, when I spent the whole weekend bruising my fingers trying to get into DL mode and worrying about whether I was more than soft bricked. I had gotten into DL mode twice in the 4 days with no progress in Odin.
Guys I am sorry to disturb you all !!!
First of all it is an AT&T unlocked Galaxy S Captivate phone in India.
It had UCKK4 ROM.
So I tried to flash CornKernel_UCKK4_v70A.tar via odin 1.85 rightly placed the file in PDA.
The ODIN failed and gives the error, "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and Try again" :crying:
I will be highly thankful to helps. :good::good:
Before flashing the kernel, I'm assuming you had put the phone into download mode, correct?
If not, make sure you shut the phone down, then hold Vol- and Vol+ and insert the USB cable. Once it's in download mode, try flashing again.
If that doesn't work, take a look at the "Captivate Connection Issues and Download Mode Help" thread in my signature for some more ideas.

Thanks for your reply.
I had been in recovery mode. With drivers installed.
I have tried Vol+/Vol- method about 10 times but always have the same screen.
NO DOWNLOAD mode.
Even tried the jig I used for SGS but now with jig also the download mode is not coming.
Btw I am very very thankful for your reply.
That's odd. A jig that's putting 301 kOhm between pins 4 and 5 should kick you into download mode no matter what.
What exactly happens when you hold V+/V- and insert the USB cable? And are you doing it with the phone completely off?
Also, if you are able to get into recovery, is it stock recovery (with 4 options to choose from) or ClockworkMod Recovery (with about 7-9 options to choose from)?
If it's Clockworkmod recovery (CWM), mtcarey released a CWM-flashable version of his kernel that you could try.
Just to be sure...
Battery Out
USB Plugged in
Hold vol+ and vol-
Insert battery
Should take you into download mode

The instructions aren't necessarily wrong, it's dependent on whether you have the I9000 or I897 bootloaders. The steps you've described are specific to the I9000 bootloaders - the steps mentioned above are for the I897.

If you're wanting to try ICS, take a look in the development section. There are several roms to try out - just look around and see if any of them look appealing to you.
Just as a word of caution, look for the "Encryption Unsuccessful" thread and read about that error message in there. ICS roms have a small chance of causing a serious issue for your phone, and it would be good to make sure you know the risks before flashing.
Other than that, just know that you'll probably have to flash your first ICS rom twice - once to set up the framework, and the second time to fully install the rom.

I originally had CM 10.1.3 on my Atrix hd but i wanted to try the unnofficial pacman rom, so i went into CWM recovery, made a backup, factory reset, wiped /system, cache, blah blach but when installing pacman rom i got status 7 so i didnt feel like using a zipping program to fix it, then i went to reboot recovery and bam, stuck on the unlocked bootloader screen, i tried ALL fastboot options, none will get past this unlocked bootloader screen and the phone tuns on all by itself and there's no way to pull the damn battery, please don't tell me my phone i screwed. What do i do?
IM literally on the brink of crying
Chill. You probably just had a bad download of the zip. Do you have a backup from a previous ROM?

Why did you reboot recovery? Unplug your phone, press the power button to turn it off, then hold both power buttons and press the power button until a list comes up, go into recovery, wipe user data/system and restore your backup. We have an official PAC ROM now, use that.

It seems like when you hold down power to shut off your phone, it won't stay off, correct? This means you need to quickly press the button combo (Power + Both Vol Buttons) as soon as it shuts off, it should come up with a list of black and white options. If you don't have a Nandroid recovery, then you will use Vol Down to highlight the AP Fastboot option and Vol Up to select it, if you do, then select the Recovery option and proceed restoring from there. When in fastboot mode, use RSD Lite to flash back to a stock firmware. Your phone is far from bricked. If you keep rebooting to Bootloader Unlocked screen no matter what option you choose, you may have to look into buying or making a Fastboot Cable. This will force your device into Fastboot mode so you can flash a stock ROM, I doubt this will be necessary though. If your phone can turn on, it isn't hard bricked. You're in the clear, don't worry.
RSD Lite Guide and Download: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2231249
Download link to stock firmware: http://sbfdownload.droid-developers...MB886_NII_TA-2-16-release-keys-NII-MX.xml.zip
Don't forget to replace your XML file with the one here: https://www.box.com/s/num1eshkf0c2or2h4160
Just go into your firmware zip, delete the old .xml, and drag in the new one. Start the RSD flash, sit back, relax, make sure (if you are using one) that your laptop is either connected to power or has sufficient battery life, and that you don't unplug your cable during flash.

You can look up a guide on Google. It requires a bit of rewiring/soldering of your Motorola cable though. If you aren't comfortable with that stuff, you can buy one for Atrix HD for like $5-$10

Great! The fastboot cable should force it into fastboot, just plug it into your PC during the time your phone is off. You may have to let it charge for a bit. From there its only a matter of flashing stock ROM.
It may be called Motorola Factory Cable or Motorola Fastboot Cable, either one. Just make sure you get a Motorola Atrix HD one lol

if you cannot use the button combo to enter recovery, then you will need to flash a tot in edm (emergency download mode - power + vol up). That will put you in test mode (no usb mass storage). Then just use the test mode fix.

RESOLVED
Silver HTC One for AT&T; bootloader unlocked, rooted, s-on
I tried to flash a 4.1.2 ROM on the phone earlier today through CWM. No errors were given during the process. After the phone restarted the touch screen is now disabled. All three hardware keys seem to be working fine (power, v-up, v-down). Since the touchscreen is not working I cannot get past the initial lock screen. If I try and restart the phone by holding power it takes a long time >5 minutes of holding down power, "To restart your phone continue to press and hold power for 3, 2, 1, comes up and then stays at 1 for a long time.
If I connect the phone to my mac android file transfer opens up and I can see the files on the phone. However, if I try to find the device using 'adb devices' the list of attached devices is empty.
I would like to put a different ROM on and then flash that but because I am unable to do a power down (only restart after a long time) or use adb to re-boot into fastboot or recovery I am stuck.
Anything you guys could give me to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
also I installed HTC sync manager and it launches after the device is attached, but does not indicate that my device is attached.
Thanks!

Can you elaborate on the OTG cable? It may be my best option at the moment because I cannot get the phone to reboot at all let alone into recovery. I tried to restart while holding down power and vol-down (like n1234d said) for about 20 minutes and the phone did not restart.
You could use an OTG cable and a USB drive to get the ROM onto the phone inside recovery. Unfortunately, you still need to reboot to recovery. If the phone can't reboot, I'm not sure what to do.

then try to get in recovery from bootloader....
the phone wont get recognized via adb if not in recovery mode cause the USB debugging would be turned off....

I'm pretty sure you unknowingly kept leaving the power/volume buttons because of which the phone finally rebooted when you got it right

Thanks, but for whatever reason it took holding down the power button for 40 minutes.
Thanks for you suggestions, as I mentioned above I got the phone to reboot into recovery after holding down power for an insanely long time. From there I was able to use adb to get everything sorted out.
So my problem is resolved, how do I close/delete this thread? Thanks for all your suggestions.
