I think i bricked my phone installing the wrong rom possibly? whenever i turn on the phone it goes straight to the LG boot logo and stays there, i can't go into recovery. Whenever i'm connected to a pc i have two drivers that don't install both are LGE CDMA USB Modem. doesn't anyone know how to fix this?

if you cannot use the button combo to enter recovery, then you will need to flash a tot in edm (emergency download mode - power + vol up). That will put you in test mode (no usb mass storage). Then just use the test mode fix.

Is there a certain ZV version i should choose? or does it not matter?
The newest version that you can flash is v8. Then you would have to ota to v9 then to zvb. Then reroot and install cwm. Flash OG and call it a day.

well i can't get into the phone to turn on usb debugging, also it doesn' t seem to see the phone when it's plugged in.
Use edm (power + vol up) you will be asked to flash a phone book file. Just select the tot.

well i have my phone connected to the pc started the software, then held up and power and nothing happened.
Its a boot up button combo, turn off device, turn on (power + vol up). Just like booting into recovery. When you see the downloading screen, connect phone to computer, then select the tot as your phone book file, and click start.

Droid 3 Brick Recovery
Thanks to Psouza4 I was able to recover my bricked Driod 3 this morning
This is the link to the post with all the files neccassary
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17427668&postcount=84
You have to first boot the phone into recovery mode
Step 1. Turn your phone on, Hold both Volume buttons while turning on press Vol - until you get to AP Fastboot then press Vol +
Step 2.Plug the phone to your computer by usb while in AP fastboot mode
Than follow Psouza4 directions the script does all the work.

Is there any way to recover my phone at the moment without a usb? At the moment my phone or RSD does not recognize that there is a connection.

Nope. Make sure you're in the fastboot menu when you try to connect to RSDLite--> From powered off state hold M+power. Also to be doubly sure use the USB cord that came with the phone.
I hope this will work for the XT860! Could get tricky since there are 3 versions of the Droid 3 that I know of.

I downloaded psouza4's file, but the link in the readme for the files is down. Anyone have a good link?
two questions. can i unplug the captivate from the pc while in download mode to change usb ports. and is there away to get the phone out of download mode without flashing the rom. i was going to flash the rom and odin will not recognize the phone.
As long as you aren't in the middle of a flash, yes. Although you may have to put it back into download mode to make it be recognized, I'm not sure. To abort, just pull out the battery.

+1 to this
technically yes
But I don't suggest doing that.
It usually use more battery power than usual, so it is better to charge while it is running
I thing you can press power+volume up/down like if you go to recovery I think that would work don't turn it off cause that's how I got mine in USB+computer disconnection mode which I could have to put it back to download mode and then flash a ROM to come out of that....

I'm rather sure you have problems with reading.
- turn your OB off
- remove the back
- take the battery out
- hold vol+ button and plug USB in
It is not always needed to remove the battery but it helps sometimes especially when nothing else works, had it once myselfe where that was the only way I could get into SW upgrade mode.

Same problem here, phone is completely dead.
When holding the power button, nothing is happening.
Also not when removing battery, holding VOL+ and inserting the USB cable.
I think, I need to send it to the service center.

If OB is doing nothing at all it's a hard brick => service.
If OB's screen is showing something like 'security error' it's a soft brick => you can do a lot (like 'sw update' and use SFT)
So it's a difference of more than 5$.

i think it's my fault, but maybe i can do something to unbreak it?
here it goes.
i downloaded the latest build from this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2199575
when first i entered CWM and wiping everything, i try to flash the rom, but the installation aborted with 'error 7'
so i look for error 7 in google, and get into this video which explain how to bypass it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QW1znjDLe-k
i did exactly what he said, and remove the assert till the ' ; '
after that i ziped it back and send it again to my phone, and again get into CWM.
the installation went OK.
it said so .
i did a reboot, but then the phone didn't power up.
he is very dead
is it final, or i can do something to revive it?
thanks!
Status 7 error is due to a corrupt rom file. Download the rom again, place it on sd card & flash again.

Downloading mode is volume down+home+power & in doing this, you must see downloading written in yellow letters on your screen. Then you're good to go.

check that have you installed the USB driver ? because it matters a lot...
You can download it from here

If it connects to the PC then first rectangle becomes yellow.
Best Luck!!!

I am stuck in DL mode unless I let the battery die. I cant flash anything because my pc detects it as a Samsung Modem... I dont know what to do =[. I tried reinstalling drivers all night nothing worked. Everytime I try to flash on Odin I get stuck at Setup Connection
Clear your USB drivers. Also make sure you have Samsung USB drover installed. And make sure you don't a yellow exclamation in device manager. And download correct firmware. Try different Odin's if you have to.
