Swap on internal storage? - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Have you ever thought about swap on internal storage?
This would be 100mb for me, would it even be worth it?
Is it even possible?

Now the bootloader has been bypassed, so it is possible to have swap for X8. My suggestion is to wait for a good working kernel (as I see the developers working hard on it, so _maybe_ it will be ready at the end of the month), and then let the party begin

Oh I fully forgot about that, thanks
Now I'm definitely gonna buy a better Sd card (higher class and more storage)

Mem card full any help out there?

Hi guys,
Am I missing something? I have a16gb mem card that is busting at the seams...... It won't let me even save a photo on it it's so full! I have a lot of apps, however not enough to fill the mem card. Are there certain folders that store random info I can delete using astro? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Could it have anything to do with a partitioned sd card? Thanks...

Diskusage from the market will tell use what's using up space.
Unless you have some large files, it's possible that you don't really have a 16gb card (fake).

I found I have a LOT of scheduled back ups that are around 650mb each..... Do I need all of these, or is
It safe to delete all back ups prior to the most recent? Thanks again.....

I don't know why you would need anything more than the latest one our two copies...

[Q]A lot of force close

Hi,
I suddenly got a lot of force close on my phone and made me have to reboot the phone.
I see that those force close started after the internal sd card scan, I am curious that if it may be the problem of the internal sd card.
Even I did the factory reset, it still keep on having the same issue. I rooted my phone. I dont know if I need to get it to the customer services or can handle it by myself.
Can anyone gives some suggestion?

Thanks for your reply,
May I know what is the purpose of flashing xxkb3?
To fix the firmware?
If yes, the phone is flashed with the original firmware by the samsung's customer services yesterday.
Its a mysterious thing.u should replace the done.

It seems that it may be related to the internal sd card, sometimes, I dont know when, the sd card is not detected by my phone and cause the issue. May be I should take to the customer service center.
Thanks
Take it back to care centre.

Take it back to care centre.out can also happen when internal memory is corrupted, only solution in such situation is replacing mother board.

Can you get to SD card by dismantling the phone?

Does anyone know if it is possible to access the internal SD card by dismantling the phone without breaking it?
I don't know but I would like to change myn as well for a larger memory.

Well since my phone seems to be knackered. I might try it as a last resort to fix it and let you know soon.

mmm i guess not.. but would be very interesting if it's possible that.. so we could expand our internal sd memory.. let us know
I'm not sure but i don't think there is an actual card inside. It must be a flash chip instead.
Correct me if i'm wrong of course
looks like you are right.

[Q] Is it just me or is most of us here had the gtab internal memory failure?

What could have been the problem where most users here had internal memory or chip failure? The rom we used or hardware instability?

I know you have been very helpful in the p1000 thread, but I'm not trolling here, please don't bash me.
Actually does anyone feel that it is a manufacturing internal memory failure or we are just bunch of unlucky ppl who happened to have bought a tab with malfunctioning internal memory?

Not bashing you. But just disagree with the estimation you put.
I think it more likely some percentage of units have chips that are bad.
Also, do they fail within warranty period?
In manufacturing it is not that easy to weed out bad parts.
Btw, there are threads talking about using external sd only.
Have you tried that? Apparently with class 10 cards, the tab performs relatively well.

your not alone
your not the only one with that problem,as for me i just successfully recovered 210mb of my internal sd card, ddnt knew much of what i was doin so i ended up with a messed up tab,but cheer up,theres always hope for those who find ways

Ya I read around about using the external sd as internal memory. However I found ppl saying that some custom roms do not run well, so I just leave my tab aside and find the time to learn how to use the toolkit. Thanks for the info.

Micro SD Card Wiped, Any Hope?

Looks like the 4.4.2 has wiped my micro sd card...did this happen to anyone else? Not rooted, nothing fancy, just can't believe it wiped out all of my pictures...no chance of salvaging this is there?

how did you get to 442? What did you upgrade from and how? Unless it was low level formatted, you can usually recover all the lost data usually with a program on a Windows computer. Did you try to eject then reinsert the memory card?
If it really has been wiped, try photorec (http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec). You should run this as soon as possible, without writing anything else to the card, to maximise your chances of recovery.
I would recommend Foremost. It helped me twice.
Thanks y'all, I ended up using Cardrecovery (www.cardrecovery.com), and recovered 4000+ pictures/videos, so I'm GTG. Although testing some of the random vidoes don't work, but I was more interested in the pictures anyway.
