at all current cm7 users:
i moved away for stability reasons from cm7 around nightly20 after having used it for months. needed 100% safety that my alarm rings in the morning back then.
however i never stopped to check the nightly thread from time to time to be up to date. i now decided to move back to cm7 because i am bored of samsungs slow stock roms and custom roms based on samsungs fw.
as i said i need it as much stable as possible.
which of the recent nightlies has been the most stable for you guys until now? dont want to flash rc since lots of improvements have been made in the meantime.
anyone?
Sent from my GT-I9000
Their all pretty stable now as their has been a lot of bug fixes etc however I do still have a few minor issues where some nightly's don't read my external SD card, but that doesn't bother me, I'm on nightly 92 and it works a charm dude definately ready for everyday use now
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
First of all you can check the link in my signature to get a look at the problems with the latest nightly's. which you can see don't have problems
In my opinion any nightly from #80 and up are stable with good battery life.
update to gb bootloaders, flash nightly #80 and up! shouldn't have any problems. At least i'm not experiencing any
Thanks for your replies!
Hey guys! I normally probably wouldn't have made a new thread for this ROM that I built because there are already several rooted stock ROMs already out there, However this turned out to be the fastest stock ROM I've ever used on my dinc. It is surprisingly smooth and fast so I decided I would share my little penicillin with the world haha. Since I have already built the first version and test run it on my phone I figured I would upload my first version and then tweak it from there. Screen shots will come later and I will be happy to trouble shoot if I can. Keep in mind that when I booted this on my phone the first time it sat on the HTC splash for about a minute or more and then the boot animation seemed to freeze during boot but these are all normal and do not require a battery pull, it will all be fine
What this ROM is:
Based off of OTA 4.08.605.2 (not most recent)
Completely Deodexed
Optimized for Speed
Edited to allow custom boot animations to be dropped into data/local
Bloatware removed on V. 1.2.0
System Update popup removed on V. 1.1.4
System Apps updated to most recent in V. 1.1.4
Stock Kernel replaced with 10042012 gingertiny kernel in V. 1.3.2
Chad's Incredicontrol app baked into V. 1.3.3 to give users access to kernel controls
Quick Settings added in version 1.4.0 thanks to sk806!
Support for TWRP 2.3.1 added in version 1.4.0 with help from cmlusco!
Advanced Power Menu added in version 1.4.3 thanks to wdfowty!
Annoying Droid start up sound removed in 1.4.3
Build.prop edited in v1.4.4 to remove update notification
This ROM is currently based off of the 4.08.605.2 OTA which means that it is not "current." Because of the bugs that were found to exist in the most recent OTA, I've decided to keep with 4.08.605.2 and continue to optimize it and make it a community favorite. I will do try to make this ROM the best it can be by implementing:
Custom boot animation
Hardcore modding which may occur someday:
Native Screenshot
Add Crt-off animation to ROM
These things will not necessarily happen in that order but they are things that I intend to be working on.

I will be uploading an update later today with that fixed but at the moment that is normal. It is annoying but like I said the update that I upload later should have that fixed.

haha I would try it, but I don't like stock good work though!
Will the update have the new OTA baked into the ROM and the bloatware removed?

I am currently uploading a fix to the system update popup. I had one that had a lot of the bloatware removed but I ran into problems so this one just has the fix for the annoying popup. I am in the process of fixing those problems and might be able to get another update up tonight but if not it will probably be ready at some point tomorrow. I also have a copy of the newest OTA so I will start working on that after I am done with the fixes for this one. The reason I am doing this one first is because I have heard that the newest has issues with rebooting for no reason over night and so forth and I would rather give you a choice to have either this one or the newer one.
The version I am uploading right now is 1.1.4 and should be able to be flashed over anything you currently have running. I would recommend making a nandroid first though. and you will probably have to download all of the newest versions of the system apps again unless you make backups to quickly reinstall the newest versions. Thanks for trying out my ROM!
Personalty I think I would just wait on updating the Rom to the newest OTA and work on what's working. Nobody seems to have found the problem with the 2 am reboot and there are already some folks working on it but even then there seems to be other problems. Here is a post about other problems encountered with the new ota.
The recent Verizon update is a big, fat failure! At 18 months old, my HTC Incredible never had a single problem until after Verizon installed the recent update v4.08.605.15 (without asking me first). I've had NOTHING but problems since installation approximately 2 weeks ago. With a bevy of new problems surfacing daily, my phone is no longer reliable & thus serves no useful purpose.
The following is a partial list of the problems I've encountered since installation: on a daily basis, phone repeatedly powers on & off all on its own; an incessant, strange ring developed 2 days ago & it continues intermittently (I'm not familiar with this ring & it is not a sound that I set up myself. It drones on and on even when I'm talking on the phone!) phone randomly freezes up several times each day; after appearing on the first boot after installation, an unknown "live" wallpaper destroyed my home screen & disappeared all of my icons; I suddenly stopped receiving text messages regardless of size; and, as a last resort, I've had to remove & reinstall the battery at least 30 times.

I agree. I will fiddle around with the newest OTA but I feel like if verizon/HTC can't get it right then we are all better off with this version. Even the radio that was released with the newest OTA is worse. I tried it when cmlusco pulled it from the latest and my service coverage dropped off considerably and there were no other noticeable improvements. I don't know where they went wrong but I would say they could have stuck with this one or at least waited until they had something concrete and actually better than the last before they released it. It's not as though we were all just waiting around for a new software to come OTA. I'd rather spend my time being anxious about JB being ported to the dinc ^_^
hey nschiwy! .. i really think that sense 1.0 runs the smoothest and all that. but cant we have like a variety of ported sense 1.0 themes for
the inc. i fail to find themes for 1.0 other than the warm theme. i had a desire before the inc and absolutely loved this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052761 due to the elegant theming .. can you port this theme to the inc ? ..i requested in the themes section too but no progress on it

one question, there is not much difference between the stock+ 3.01 and sparkplug
right?

I will look into the theming. This is essentially my first time getting into any kind of android development so I am taking it one step at a time. It seems like the ROM you pointed me to that you had for your desire might actually be a plain GB port or CM7 with a sense launcher and the lense unlock screen set as default. as far as stock+ it very well could be the same as sparkplug but I don't remember. I thought that I had tried all of the stock based ROMs and was fed up with how much lag they had and when I wound up with mine being smooth I wanted to share it with the community. If it is the same I apologize for the redundancy, maybe after I get a little more experience under my belt mine will be a bit different. In the mean time, cmlusco's touch of blue is based on stock and lightly themed so you might enjoy his ROM as well. Thanks for the feedback and trying it out!
I really enjoy mainly stock ROMs but do find the quick settings tab on the pull down bar and all of the shutdown options when you hold the power off button very useful. I'm running this ROM currently and haven't had any issues or found any bugs but have only had it up for a few hours.

I would like to correct you here that the desire rom is an actual sense rom based on the leaked ginger bread update for the desire so it is not a
stock anroid or cm7 rom. As i am not a developer, but i have heard desire and inc are very similar devices and that porting is easy between them..i would really appreciate if you would look into the sense 1,0 themes and port some stuff from other device forums as there is a lot out there, and touch of blue..hmm well not a big fan of the sharp blue used in it, anyways, goodluck to you on your missions and i support you fully!
Also can you please add the native screenshots update to this ROM?
So does this have the really bright cm7 flashlight or is this the lame dark light? Just curious BC this is what's holding me back from this rom

Hello! I am on vacation this week and didn't bring my Ubuntu laptop with me or else I would have sent out an update a few days ago. The next update is going to include an updated googlesearchbar.apk, I am going to replace the stock flashlight with the CM7 torch and I am going to add the CM7 file explorer. This update should become available as V. 1.2.1 on or about Aug. 6th and it will be able to be flashed over 1.2.0 without problem, although you will need to delete the stock flashlight app on your own if you flash over. I may be able to fix that though. Also, I have been working on adding a screenshot to the power menu but that is a little bit more hardcore modding than what I have been doing so an ETA for that is not going to be available, but of course that is forbidden anyway thanks everyone for trying out the ROM and don't forget to hit the thanks button if you like it!!

Sorry ThisGuy, I had 1.2.1 uploaded and ready to go and ran into some bugs when I tested it on my phone so it is a no-go. I will troubleshoot and hopefully get it up soon.
For the time being, try downloading nexus torch from google play and tell me what you think. I have used it before but I can't remember how good it is and I've never been that picky about the brightness. There seems to be an issue with the stock kernel working with the CM7 torch because it was designed for AOSP. It's kind of surprising because at it's root all versions of android are built on the same structure. If they weren't then sense, motoblur and touchwiz would be useless because none of the normal apps in the market would work on their operating systems. Since CM7 is based off of Android 2.3.7 and our OTA is based on Android 2.3.4, I didn't think there would be an issue and that is why I told you I would have it done as soon as I got home from vacation. Like I said before, I will continue to work on this but I didn't think it was going to be the challenge that it has turned out to be.
Okay first of all I freaking love this place it's brought an entire new life onto my captivate so here's whats going on..
I have cm9.0.0-RC0 installed with 4.0.3 but I just realized a few days ago that the alpha fourm I was on is extremely outdated and that everyone had moved onto the newer one. (yes I realize I look like an idiot at this point)
ANYWAYS...I went to find the latest stable build how ever it also says 9.0.0 so i'm sort of confused if that one is any different. I'm pretty sure I am on the alpha build 17 but like I said still confused...
(Side note: I don't want to use the nightly builds because I use this as my daily phone so I need something stable.)
So do I need to flash the other one or am I good where i'm at? Or should I just wait for CM10 and jelly bean??
Also I know this has been asked but can someone recommend a good kernal to use with this? I'm pretty sure the one I am using is old it's by pawitp.
Thank you for your patience and dealing with my stupidity
(very first n00b post btw)
Go ahead and do an update to the stable version. It is only a few days old, and is worth updating to, especially if you are still on an alpha (I can't imagine that really).
I recommend that you stick with the stock kernel unless you want to play around with things like overclocking. In that case, either Semaphore or Devil are great kernels.
Definitely update, I have been running cm9 nightly for the last 3 months with no issues. I'm on Helly bean now, but my gf is using cm9 stable.
Update now man. You have a choice of the CM9 stable release, plus like four really good Jelly Bean roms that are totally worth the flash. I'm on Paranoid Android right now and its the best Jelly Bean experience I've had on both Android devices that I own so I highly suggest it to you if you're stuck in deciding which JB rom, if you go that route of course.
alright thanks guys! :good:
I am not connected with CM - other than as a fan and long time user - so this is UNOFFICIAL.
I have just bought a second hand nexus 5, having cancelled my pre-order nexus 5x - I could not justify the cost
So as a long time CM12.1 user on my now retired nexus 4, I am watching the code merges from AOSP to CM13.0 (Marshmallow)
I noticed that an important feature rolled by - DOZE mode the battery saving feature of M - looks like it might well turn up fully supported in CM13.0
The notes from the developer here.
http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/113840/
Refer to including doze mode as described here
https://source.android.com/devices/tech/power/mgmt.html
I am watching the code merges roll by for CM13 in general here.
http://www.cmxlog.com/13/
i dont get it...are you suprised that cm13 will include doze mode? It is one of the better features of android 6.0, why would CM not use it?
Hi
I was just observing code merges
The maintainers comment about it being off by default in aosp caught my eye

Lol now that's funny.
It strikes me as a little odd it would be turned off by default, but good to know it's being included. that is the feature i'm most excited about for CM 13...my Nexus 5 currently chews battery
I'm so eager i'm going to try an AOSP 6.0 rom even if it means giving up my favourite cyanogenmod tweaks.....though I'll be back to CM as soon as 13.0 comes out!!

I tried the factory image 6.0 already and it wasn't a good experience. I bought a n5 last week and factory flashed it that day.
It was really laggy and buggy after about 3 hours use.
As it was the factory image I am sure it was enabled for doze mode. But to be honest I lasted under 24 hours before flashing back to 5.1.1 and putting a clean cm12.1 nightly on it.
Roll on CM13

Thanks for sharing your experience snowdej. Sorry it didn't work out for you. Did you update your boot loader and radio to the latest versions first? Apparently you need to upgrade both for going from 5.x - 6.0.
I'm coming from Ehndroix, a CM 4.4.2 ROM so i'm a bit nervous about not screwing anything up flashing all the updates to everything....like i think i have to upgrade TWRP over a couple steps b/c my current version is kinda old now.
I'm planning to try this ROM in the next couple days http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/rom-rooted-busybox-tweaks-t3072279/page13 (because i'm a sucker for customizablity and having a root haha). Been following the 6.0 ROMs out so far and this seems to be the most stable in terms of users experiences, though there are definitely people having issues and leaving it after a couple days too. I figure i'll try things and if it doesn't work out roll back to my last backup image.
Hi
Yes did the boot loader and radio.
It was an full factory flash done manually. I have done this loads of times before.
I flashed the radio etc back when I went back to cm
To be honest I don't see anything that exciting in marshmallow
I an just looking forward to things like doze mode

Found my old SCH-I800 (aka P1C), had an old version of CM on it.
Searched around for some newer rom's, but couldnt find any mentioning support for the keyboard!
Decided to Odin/Heimdall back to Stock, found I had the old v2.2, its looping on the VerizonWireless screen...
Bleh!
Anyone happen to have an odin/heimdall useable version of totally stock v2.3.5 (IIRC last version for it)? My Google-Fu has failed me and I can find plunty of ROOTED versions, but not so much for unrooted
TYVM
EDIT: wow... I had typed a subject in the title area... it did not stay...
Edited Thread title for better visibility.
Still stands, I have tried about 13 downloads now, all have been modified in some shape or form and cannot get the last of the OTA's and there is not a final OTA modified release...
anyone? SGH-I800... don't care which version of android now, 2.2 or 2.3, but cant be pre-rooted, needs totally stock so can accept that last OTA before I pass it on!
