I'm on ihackers 2.1 ROM android 4.3
rooted
unlocked bootloader
I wanted to go back to stock to C6902_14.2.A.0.290
I found the method but I'm not sure if this is the right way http://lionking853.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/how-to-go-back-to-stock-firmware-on.html
and if it is the right way, after going back to stock ROM, will my phone unroot and relock again?
Can I just go ahead and do this or must I relock bootloader first?
please help me since I never done this before, only rooted and unlock that I did.
Thank you so much folks

If you have an unlocked bootloader, you will not be able to update using PC Companion. I didnt know all this **** were involved in Sony phones.
I had unlocked my bootloader a couple of days back, didnt know I had to backup my DRM keys and ended up losing my warranty. Now I cant even update my phone using the official updating method.
BTW... the recovery is bundled with the kernel, thats why people refer to it as flashing a kernel instead of recovery. I didnt know this until 2 days back.
Thanks

If you do have a TA backup then you don't have to do anything else then restoring it on a stock rooted firmware..If you don't then use flashtool to relock it..

If I am on a Locked Bootloader and on a rooted custom ROM, will Sony PC Companion detect my phone when the next update comes??
This is stupid. If you are in 4.3 (.290) with un-locked boot loader you cant update via PC companion or SUS.
I ended up going to 534 (4.2) via flashtool. Root it, restore TA backup and then use SUS to update. And flashing the latest 4.3 via Flashtool din work.
No PC Companion or SUS won't detect your phone.. You've to manually flash a valid ftf from Flashtool.. Then you can connect & update your phone through PC Companion or SUS..

Hello! Tried to search thread like this, but now I just have brain disease from amount of threads. Simply, I want to get back my stock rom and kernel, I dont have TA backup, I've unlocked bootloader. So, what I have to do?

It's so easy ...You just press a thunderbolt then you choose the ftf you want to flash and connect your powered off device by holding down the Volume Down button ..Then it flashes

Hello community,
this is my first post here so i hope, i do it right
Please excuse my english, it is not perfect.
I have a xperia z with Android 4.2.2 (10.3.A.0.423) . The bootloader is unlocked, cwm/twrp dualboot is installed, also the doomlord customkernel v19 is in use, root-access is available.
Is it possible to update to official stock firmware 4.3 (10.4.1.B.0.101) using the PC-Companion without bricking my phone? Root-Access and cwm and so on would be lost as i assume. This would be ok for me.
I really would like to do it that way. I think, as an alternative, i could flash the 4.3 stock rom using cwm? Going this way, will my data and all settings be lost?
Updating via OTA is not a good idea i think.
Thanks for advise
Greetings
ShellingFord
Well, you cannot update via PC companion, Sony Update Service or OTA, as your bootloader is unlocked.
So, that leaves updating via Flashtool or flashing a prerooted rom from the development section.
The cleanest way would be via Flashtool, then simply flash a custom kernel again and root.

And if im going to flash the stock-kernel which belongs my current firmware and then relock the bootloader?
If the bootloader is relocked, i can't flash a kernel or something else anymore right?
EDIT: If I decide to flash a rom will my data be lost or is it like im doing an normal update?
Is it possible to go back to stock with everything?
So much questions Sorry, I don't know that much, please help
Can anyone help?
Yes, if you relock the bootloader, you should be able to update via the normal methods (at least via PC companion, unsure about OTA). A locked bootloader means you cannot use custom kernels.
If you flash with Flashtool, you can choose not to wipe your data.

I assume, it would be the best to flash the original kernel before i lock the bootloader?
After relocking the bootloader and installing the update via PC-Companion, will the kernel be the "original" kernel and will cwm/twrp be still there or not?
Yes, flash a stock kernel before locking the bootloader. If you don't, you will soft brick your phone.
After updating, you will have a stock kernel and your custom recovery will be gone as well as root.

So everything worked fine. I relocked the bootloader via flashtool and installed the firmware using PC-Companion. My Xperia Z is now totally "stocked"
Thank you very much for your help
You're welcome. Glad to help.

Hello.
I searched some but i could not find the answers so hopefully i can get them in this post.
Well what i was wondering about is: I have unlocked my bootloader the official way. Let´s say i wanna relock it again, flashing a stock kernel.sin and using flashtool to relock it.
What method is then used to Unlock it again if you would wanna do that ? And i dont want guesses here i want solid facts of what works and not.
/Jonas740
I just use FlashTool to unlock and relock after officially unlocking it the Sony way. I haven't experienced anything odd or harmful doing it this way. Seems to be nice and safe. Currently my Z1 is rooted, stock kernel, dual recovery installed and bootloader locked and it's working great!
dual `?

Dual installer recovery ?
Im kinda newb but wont root go away if you apply stock kernel ? what kernel are you using. had a hard time finding stock ones. Unless you mean to just extract from a ftf file.

On Locked Bootloader you can use Custom Roms with Stock Kernels as it is the only one kernel what you can use on Locked Bootlader.
Ye

Ye but do you extract stock kernels from the ftf´s available or will it just wipe the kernel if you flash a ftf from the big ftf list ?
Before flashing JUST the kernel from the Global Generic FTF posted here I flashed (in recovery from ADV Stock Kernel) NUT's dual recovery for Z1 from here: http://nut.xperia-files.com/
Then after stock kernel flashed I relocked bootloader in FlashTool and still have access to recovery if I need it (say I lose root) and can always reflash Update SuperSU from recovery and booyah!! Root restored though I never lost root but if I do I can get it back super easy!!

I don't know what exactly you mean. If you want to keep your kernel you can flash any Stock FTF and exclude Kernel in Flashtool, that will wipe the system but the kernel will remain the one you have, it's called Dirty Installation.
If you have Custom Rom with Custom Kernel and you want, for example, relock your bootloader then with Flashtool flash the Stock Kernel only, how? Just use any Stock FTF, put it in Flashtool folder, select the FTF and exclude everything and leave just kernel clicked, it will flash just the Stock Kernel from the whole Stock FTF.
Done.
1. hi all i wanted to ask for ur guidance/procedure on how to recover from bootloop if recoveries aren't functional after u've flashed a custom ROM.
2. what will happen if we flash kernel to LOCKED BL?
plz exclude flashing the stock FTF file, i need other options aside from reflashing.. i knew it already.

1. You are sure you did it this way as said under point 2?
2. It depends.
As far as I know - most base of all base rules is to stick to proper kernel.
Locked BL requires kernel for locked bootloaders.
All parts of ROM has to be consistent together. system, boot, kernel ...
Either for locked or for unlocked BL. Mixing stock and custom ROM parts is very unhealthy.
I think you need to know if the device enters in flashmode, next would be flash a new stock rom ftf with flashtool.
If the steps are OK you should have your device fixed, and have the bad xperience mixing lb ub Kerns could be....
Hope 2 have helpd you
