[Q] How to go back to Stock official ROM sony xperia z1 - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm on ihackers 2.1 ROM android 4.3
rooted
unlocked bootloader
I wanted to go back to stock to C6902_14.2.A.0.290
I found the method but I'm not sure if this is the right way http://lionking853.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/how-to-go-back-to-stock-firmware-on.html
and if it is the right way, after going back to stock ROM, will my phone unroot and relock again?
Can I just go ahead and do this or must I relock bootloader first?
please help me since I never done this before, only rooted and unlock that I did.
Thank you so much folks

If you have an unlocked bootloader, you will not be able to update using PC Companion. I didnt know all this **** were involved in Sony phones.
I had unlocked my bootloader a couple of days back, didnt know I had to backup my DRM keys and ended up losing my warranty. Now I cant even update my phone using the official updating method.
BTW... the recovery is bundled with the kernel, thats why people refer to it as flashing a kernel instead of recovery. I didnt know this until 2 days back.

Thanks

Thanks anyway but I found the method and my phone now relocked bootloader

If you do have a TA backup then you don't have to do anything else then restoring it on a stock rooted firmware..If you don't then use flashtool to relock it..

If I am on a Locked Bootloader and on a rooted custom ROM, will Sony PC Companion detect my phone when the next update comes??

This is stupid. If you are in 4.3 (.290) with un-locked boot loader you cant update via PC companion or SUS.
I ended up going to 534 (4.2) via flashtool. Root it, restore TA backup and then use SUS to update. And flashing the latest 4.3 via Flashtool din work.

No PC Companion or SUS won't detect your phone.. You've to manually flash a valid ftf from Flashtool.. Then you can connect & update your phone through PC Companion or SUS..

[Q] Unlocked bootloader CM return to stock

Hi there,
I have an unlocked bootloader running CM10.1.
Is it possible to return to stock and receive updates OTA or via PC Companion from Sony?
Can I keep my unlocked bootloader and root?
Thanks,
Chester
To go back to stock just flash a stock FTF via flashtools.
You need to relock bootloader to be able to use OTA or PC companion to update. You risk bricking your phone if you try updating with an unlocked bootloader.

heres what i did!
took a stock ftf!
.434 to be precise!
flashed only kernel and unchecked all!
after that i pressd the BLU option and chose relock!
then i flashed the stock ftf as a whole!
wiped data and all!
PS i wiped data while flashing kernel too..that is important!
then after flashing i booted the device!
and restored my ta.img
!
then i flashed a stock rom via sony update service!
and i was successful!

[Q] Official Update 4.3 with ck/ub/root/cwm-twrp dual-boot

Hello community,
this is my first post here so i hope, i do it right
Please excuse my english, it is not perfect.
I have a xperia z with Android 4.2.2 (10.3.A.0.423) . The bootloader is unlocked, cwm/twrp dualboot is installed, also the doomlord customkernel v19 is in use, root-access is available.
Is it possible to update to official stock firmware 4.3 (10.4.1.B.0.101) using the PC-Companion without bricking my phone? Root-Access and cwm and so on would be lost as i assume. This would be ok for me.
I really would like to do it that way. I think, as an alternative, i could flash the 4.3 stock rom using cwm? Going this way, will my data and all settings be lost?
Updating via OTA is not a good idea i think.
Thanks for advise
Greetings
ShellingFord
Well, you cannot update via PC companion, Sony Update Service or OTA, as your bootloader is unlocked.
So, that leaves updating via Flashtool or flashing a prerooted rom from the development section.
The cleanest way would be via Flashtool, then simply flash a custom kernel again and root.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
And if im going to flash the stock-kernel which belongs my current firmware and then relock the bootloader?
If the bootloader is relocked, i can't flash a kernel or something else anymore right?
EDIT: If I decide to flash a rom will my data be lost or is it like im doing an normal update?
Is it possible to go back to stock with everything?
So much questions Sorry, I don't know that much, please help
Can anyone help?
Yes, if you relock the bootloader, you should be able to update via the normal methods (at least via PC companion, unsure about OTA). A locked bootloader means you cannot use custom kernels.
If you flash with Flashtool, you can choose not to wipe your data.

I assume, it would be the best to flash the original kernel before i lock the bootloader?
After relocking the bootloader and installing the update via PC-Companion, will the kernel be the "original" kernel and will cwm/twrp be still there or not?
Yes, flash a stock kernel before locking the bootloader. If you don't, you will soft brick your phone.
After updating, you will have a stock kernel and your custom recovery will be gone as well as root.

Look at the root. 266 thread for unlocked bootloader..
It's exactly the same, the only difference is u have to flash the. 201 kernel again after finish rooting to experience improvements in the update..
Just a few questions please help. To keep our phone's warranty, we need to back up first the TA partition before unlocking right? I read and watched tutorials on how to back up but it needs a rooted phone so i search again on how to root, but unfortunately it requires unlock bootloader. Am i right guys? I'm using .201 all are stock and locked bl. Help guyrg.

i don't recommend you to unlock bootloader as there's many steps to do which takes time.
so you will just need to downgrade to 4.2.2 firmware by flashing the ftf, then root it & install custom recovery, after that flash a pre-rooted 4.3 rom.

too late. i already unlocked my bootloader. but after i unlocked it, my phone on bootloop but i managed to enter cwm. the 'free xperia' and 'xperia' logo keeps coming out if i try to boot my phone. looks like im on a wrong firmware to unlock my bootloader.
now im downloading (C5502) 10.4.B.0.569 tft files and flash it via flashtool, then im gonna try to again if my phone will boot or not.

I am new this rooting to. And I want to install a custom rom on my Xperia ZR. How do I downgrade to the previous ROM? Do I just use the flash tool? Is it necessary to backup my TA partition during this process or can I do it when I am about to root the device? Thanks!

download the 4.2.2 ftf, flash it then root it & install recovery
then flash custom rom (only based on 4.3 & stock firmware)
Thank you
So basically these are the steps which I need to perform
1)Download and run flash tool
2)Download the correct ftf and flash it via flash tool
3)Root the phone using doomlord's vroot kit
4)Backup the TA partition
5)Unlock the bootloader
6)Install custom rom
Please confirm if these are the steps to be followed
Thanks!

@Ben Ling I rooted my zr by flashing 4.1.2 . I have also backed up the TA partition. Can you please suggest any good ROMS now? What should I choose stock based ROMS or AOSP roms like Carbon?
Also, If I want to come back to stock ROM(4.3) again what should I do?
Thanks!

if you want 4.4,then just try the carbon rom
for 4.3,try this.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2726463
for back to stock, you will just need to backup your current 4.3 rom, then if you want to restore, just restore
but the backup will only restore by using the same recovery that you backup.
@Ben Ling Thankyou! One more question before I installed the 4.3 ROM which you mentioned, do I need to unclock the bootloader to install the ROM?

[Q] Relocking Bootloader, kernel, updating and more!

So, I'm on Central Europe 1 4.4.2, with doomlord kernel and root. I have a backup of my TA partition before unlocking bootloader.
I want to update to Central Europe 1 4.4.4, using the flashable zip that was posted and the stripped ftf.
Should I flash the stock kernel from FTF 4.4.2, restore my TA partition backup and update? Or update to 4.4.4, and after that restore my TA?
What are the bricking risks? Should I wipe everything? :crying: SO MANY DOUBTS
Why relock?

If you want to go to totally "out of the box" device and have OTA update info and few other things you just said then yeah...
First flash ftf and stick kernel and then relock bootloader...
If you restore TA and leave custom kernel you could have serious problems...

No, there is no serious problem at all, you just need to flash a stock kernel via flashtool (In a stripped FTF or a full FTF) or via fastboot if you have the kernel.elf
So everything went smooth! Now i'm on 4.4.4 with root and locked bootloader BUT x-reality is not working LMAO. I'll try to install it now.
Edit: yep, it's definitely not working. I relocked bootloader for nothing! haha

Exactly what I said..
You have to flash stock kernel - there are many guys who relock bootloader on custom kernel - xda us full of stories like that..
They have toy now instead of expensive device..
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
No, it's very easy to fix, just flash a stock kernel after relocking the bootloader, it does not brick the phone relocking in a custom kernel, it just gives you a boot loop which is easily fixable
