No it's not. It's free. It's not a free weekend. It's not a demo. It's free. Deal runs until the 20th. If you have it, you keep it.

do you need steam to play this?
Yeah its free, but it requires steam to play it. I tried it out on ubuntu 10.10 under wine and everything works perfectly.
Shame it gets hellishly boring after about 3 minutes and 8 seconds.....

Hehe, i approve your submishinz!
That's why i didn't bother with Portal 2. Yes, they are unique, well imagined, funny and well executed games...but all a bit rinse and repeat to play.
I'd probably still be playing TF2 if Valve hadn't completely ruined the Art Direction and turned the game into some sort of pseudo RPG. Valve have basically done to that game what Lucas has done to the Star Wars films

are there any games similar to Scorched Earth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scorched_Earth_(video_game)) for android??
I remember getting hella lot of fun back in 90s with it
Haha, man I'd love this too, I remember networking all our computers to play multiplayer in school... the nostalgia factor alone would make it worth 99 cents to me!

Did you even try to actually find it yourself? Because if you search "Scorched Earth" in the Market, Armored Strike is the first result....

Barrage
There's a page for a port at sourceforge but it appears to be dead and the files are gone. Too bad, the apps out there are OK but even the paid versions don't match the original. I wasted so much time on that game as a kid, I'd love to do it again.
This is fact. The game has 3 levels, 4 vehicles, 8 weapons yet has more replay ability than any shooter I've ever played.
Most shooters have limited re-playability. Valve have done well flogging TF2 to death though and then there's CS 1.6. Living proof that good but simple gameplay > flash graphics and gimmicks.

I think i'm in the group, although i haven't played online for over a year now. I've pretty much given up gaming now. I did manage to log 1500 hours on TF2 in the first six months after it went Beta.

I had 900+ hours playing that one class. The rest was pretty much soldier. The Syringe gun is awesome once you learn how the trajectory works and how to hit your opponents at various distances and elevations. Particularly useful against Pyros as you can stay out of range, backing up and firing as they come towards you.
Killing Pyros was my forte! You can never rest playing Medic though. There's not a minute when you can sit back and do nothing!
We see it every day in the console industry. You cant spit in a game stop store without hitting some game that's basically a remake of an older successful game. I could basically type up a huge list of remade games, but I'll settle for saying to look away from the 3DS section.
My question is, where's the love for classic PC games? I would kill to play the real Bauldar's Gate games (not those playstation 2 Diablo wannabes...), or Fallout on my phone, or perhaps some other platform.
I'm not saying that remakes are a bad thing, as if it were a sign of an industry with flagging innovation. Many of these games are great stories, and rightfully ought to be passed on...

Ah, but you can re-live it with an emulator + roms! At least I think there's been an emulator devoted to it.
I wish there were an equivalent for classic PC games...especially on android.
Maybe I ought to check the same place where Lord Manhattan found his stomach emulator.

With a fair bit of work you can get some of the dosbox emulators to play pc games. I have gotten tes arena working. And have heard of people getting fallout working. And of course all the basic dos games work well

They ported Wolfenstein 3D to the PS3 last year. I LOVE that game. I was too into it though, to the point where I knew where all the hidden rooms were, and had all the secret weapons and treasure.
Ooh, Ooh did someone say ADOM I finished that game once with teleportitis(a curse where you randomly teleport anwhere) ...good times.
My list of oldies but goldies:
Wolfenstein 3D
Harry Potter 2(i still play this game sometimes)

Hello xda-community,
today, I've got a nice free game-mix for you'all, which I've waited a long time for,o here it is:
http://stabyourself.net/mari0/
Two genre defining games from completely different eras: Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. and Valve's Portal. These two games managed to give Platformers and First-Person Puzzle Games a solid place in the video game world. But what if Nintendo teamed up with Valve and recreated the famous Mario game with Portal gun mechanics?

That's what it is! It's just funny to play (even in 4player local coop) - I really like it
P.S. - No commercial or ad here, just a little "i-want-to-let-you-know"-thread
Downloaded it yesterday, and was gonna start this thread lol.
It's freaking awesome. My two favorite games in one. You have to get used to it though. Playing mario with a mouse and all. lol
I know what you mean. It's pretty hard though!
Well, just played now. Just got refreshed my childhood memories playing 24x7.
Any idea how many levels it contains ?
I'm sure the original was 'never-ending'
Did not know him. thank you very much
So do you guys cheat sometimes in games like MW3? Or in an MMORPG? In a game like MW3 you can use an wallhack or if you wanna be the ultimate killing machine you can use an aimbot to.
The wallhack just tells you the position off your enemy by putting squares around, so that makes a good cheat without being detected.
While an aimbot results in many kills and angry player who say they had sex with your mother even though they not know her, or they say you are gay, either way cheating can be fun.
With games like World of Warcraft you could cheat by using an bot, I tried it in Silkroad online, I bring my character to the grinding area and put the bot on and watch an video, well that was fun because I can do something else in the mean time.
One most servers on TeknoMW3 you will get banned, but I managed to play for about one month on a Dutch server without getting banned until today, I made my nickname the same as the admin from that server so people though the admin was cheating.
You could call cheating childish, but I don't think it is, I think many people cheat especially on TeknoMW3, of course I wouldn't cheat on official servers, because there are so many servers on Teknogods, if I get banned I just play on another server.
GTA is the only game that I use cheats. I think it's a waste when you cheat on games like Skyrim and first person shooter games. I think there are other people that use cheats just for the sake of knowing the story of the game.
What is wrong with you people? Where is your integrity? Lol.
You cannot have one without the other sadly.
No. cheating gets you what you want if you really want it.
The day i played DOTA and someone came wasted all his spells me and then magically re-fresh ed his spels without orb. that was the day i declared war on all cheaters.
My everyone else cheated..
And look where i am.
lvl 1 with a stick of prodding, depressed as hell.. my life sux.. and the criminals who shot me "literally" are having beer.
Somewhere something has to give.
Cheating only leads to more cheating.
A game is one thing human life is another.
In a perfect world we'd have servers for real players and servers for cheaters, and people would stick to the correct ones. The only problem I have with cheaters is they spoil a game for people that want to play it properly. I think people who are into cheating to "win" over real players probably got slapped a few times in the school yard and didn't know how to deal with it.

Or in case with a game as World of Warcraft they have a life and you don't so you keep playing like 18 hours a day and don't go to school / work, but the cheater he put his bot on and goes to work and when he returns how he lvled and got some gold.
The bot in Silkroad Online I really liked, because I just wanted play the game without needing to sit the whole day behind this game.

I don't play games like that, but I don't think it's right to say someone has no life and judge them just on the game they play.

now GTA style Give Me A Tank cheats in singleplayer... I will use those now and then...
I do, Skyrim, I made sure I was the most powerful mage ever. Even with pokemon, I made sure I had mewtwo to destory everything. It's not because I wanted to cheat, but I HATE losing.

I used to run with quite a cheating crew in the Modern Warfare games for fun, and a bit in Halo 3.
You'd hate me.
We used to derank people in public games, hilarity ensued.
Ah, those JTAG days.
On my second go around on ME3 i cheated somewhat.... I edited my War Asset to around 10,000 like that i didn't have to do every single little thing to increase readiness rating etc.
Cheated on Assassin Creed only for the money.... Technically i cheat after I've finished a game genuinely or i got pissed off way too much
