I have absolutely no use for the PTT button. But the Voice Speed Dial button on the 8125 was great for me.
Is there anyway i can change the PTT button to pull up the Voice Speed dial instead?
Absolutely!
There are at least three ways I know of on how to find out how to remap the PTT button on your tilt.
Method 1: Search this forum. Usually a good start would be to think about the question you are asking about...in this case "PTT button"...click on search and enter "PTT button" and the magic of a search engine will show you all the other times other people have been pondering the same question as you are.
Method 2: Easier than searching the forum is to simply go to the xda-wiki (see that along the top bar of the forum?) and read the kaiser/tilt topic on remapping your PTT button.
Both Methods 1 & 2 are stickied in this forum at the topic on all CAPS " SEARCH XDA-Developers using GOOGLE & READ THE KAISER WIKI!!! "
Method 3: Is the option used by a lot of people these days, which is to post yet again on this topic. Doing so will allow you to get someone else to do the 30 seconds of work for you to go to the xda-wiki, and copy and paste the link to the answer to your question.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1704919&postcount=122 ... once you install the cab you should be able to remap the button.
I want to change the page that the Web'n'Walk button opens in IE.
I have changed the homepage in IE itself and that works fine; when I open IE by clicking its icon, my homepage opens.
If I press the Web'nWalk button, however, instead of my homepage opening I get a page from T-Mobile.
I know on the Hermes that there was a simple reg hack to change the page that the IE button opened; it was in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\OEM\KEYBD. On the Kaiser, however, thst reg key is not there.
Anyone know where the key is?
check out the second post here at 4WinMobile
No, that doesn't do it. That sets the homepage, but it doesn't effect the Web'n'Walk button.
I've done a search through the registry for http://t-mobile-favourites.co.uk (the link the Web'n'Walk button opens), and changed it to Google when found, but that still doesn't do it.
Anyone got any ideas?
EDIT: OMG! I'm such a noob! LOL All I needed to do was assign Button1 to IE, in the settings dialogue...
Is there anyways to improve it? Too many times what im searching for on the phone doesnt come up, even when its the only thing on the phone with those search terms! How does search on the phone work? Is there an app that can improve the way search works?
if you press 'go' (the arrow button) it searches the web, otherwise it searches your phone.
Go to your Settings select Search. In Searchable Items, select everything you want your phone to search through, Apps, Music, Contacts, etc. This should open up the search function to the rest of your phone.
Hope this helps.
Its not that it wont search, its that the seartch results are bad. For instance, when in the music player, ill search for a song called 'reset'. All the search results that it pulls up dont have the word 'reset' in the filename, song title, artist etc. I can put in VERY specific terms and it will either not bring anything up or bring up results that have nothing to do with the terms.
Are you holding it in your left hand?
I don't know all of the appropriate inernet lingo (LOLROFMLFYMBITCH or whatever), but this makes me laugh:
Are you holding it in your left hand?
Click to collapse
player911 FTW.
And yes, I intentionally spelled "internet" without the first "t" above.
not sure if anyone else has noticed or is it just my phone but when your in the browser and bress the bing search hard button it takes you to yahoo not bing, odd!
Yep, that was raised in another thread.
We need a FAQ.
Or is there a wikki?
Ok I hope the title says it all but just to clarify I'm trying to see if it's possible to either disable or modify the "did you mean..." help tip of the Voice Search after a recognized voice search. Meaning once I long-press the search button to activate Voice Search, (eg. I search for a picture of the Eiffel Tower) I get the results. But when I close the browser the "help tip" or rather "did you mean..." is still displayed on my home screen, so then I have to hit cancel. It's a great feature when it doesn't recognize what I said, just don't like to press cancel every time.
It's the little things that get annoying
Mine doesn't do that (just tested) if it recognises the term, it goes straight to the Google search page with the results, and when I close it, I'm just back to the home screen.
If it doesn't recognise the term, I get the 'did you mean' box, which goes away when I tap on what I want.
I have noticed this occasionally. I do have the personalized recognition turned on. Its odd when it does it, I have to hit back a couple times after I was in something that I looked up and there it will be buried under a couple other programs or windows i had opened.
Seems like it does that when I say "listen to something something" it launches Pandora. Then when I close it that I see that help tip there. Yeah I guess it doesn't give you suggestions when you do a simple search or something.
Thanks for the replies
