I am a student doing an Interdisciplinary project as part of the Scottish Baccalaureate.
The aim of my project is to determine whether mobile application development is a sustainable business.
I will be needing some figures in terms amount of applications sold and the amount of monthly profit, if possible (average).
There will also be a section in my report which includes a detailed comparison between the trends of people buying applications, whether they are more likely to buy or just download the free app, and also the possibility of them buying a PRO version of the app.
All information provided might be used in my report, none will be given to any third parties.
My final report on my project has the possibility of being published in a research journal depending on the quality of it.
Any developer interested in taking part in this, and helping me please send me a message.
Please include your developer name (Android market, or Apple)
The name of your app/s you wish to include in this research
Your name on XDA
Also just send me a message or post here if you have any questions about my project.

The purpose of this forum is to allow developers of XDA to have a place to showcase their for-pay applications. While we maintain that XDA is a place of sharing and openness, we understand that there is a need for a place like this, since some "premium" pieces of software just cannot be given away for free.
This is not a marketplace. No buying or selling will happen here. If you are a developer, please provide links to your for-pay products. If you are a user, feel free to respectfully provide feedback to developers.
Because we don't want this to be haven for outside firms trying to use this forum as a sales tool, we will require that any developer posting here have a history of providing value to the community, either through free software, assistance/help to users, or other contribution.
Naturally, we might need to adjust the rules of this forum and institute policies to keep everyone happy. For now, we'll see what happens.
Happy posting!
Hi there,
I just started a new website at http://www.androidheroes.com, which will focus on Android Apps and the overall Android ecosystem.
I've decided on a feature, that each friday, I would like to do feature on a single app, to help gain some publicity for the developer, at no charge.
As a software developer myself, I know how important publicity is, and I want to allow developers to use my site as a tool for just that.
I don't know if this is against forum rules, but I quickly checked, and couldn't really see anything.
There's a few criteria to be met:
App must be complete and released on the Market.
Submission must include a 638(w)x300(h) image to be featured on the front page.
A QR code and link to the application must be provided.
No more than 500 words about the application, including summary, functionality etc.
No more than 200 words about the developer, including profile, homepage etc.
I am aware that Android Heroes is a new site, but with features like this we hope to grow our user base rapidly.
Please send all submissions to MOD EDIT: REMOVED EMAIL, I will chose the best submission and feature it tomorrow (Friday 25th).
Thanks,
Chris
Hey there!
I have an idea for an app that could be wildly successful, however I can't code a single line on my own...
Would be excited to hand out co-ownership, etc. to anyone willing to help build the app:
A community involvement app that will safely connect like-minded users together, based on mutual interests.
Main features:
Hangout: Connecting based on categories of interest, such as wanting to play local sports, to finding a church buddy, to college kids needing a study-buddy, to musicians needing to connect, etc. Besides the base mutual interest, there'll be elaborated user profiles to help further identify who you'd connect with. Users can create temporary cliques for other users to join up in group activities.
Groups: Creating groups will allow like minded users to engage in large scale hangouts and discussions. Joining groups can be done openly or invite-only.
User-driven economy: Bolstered by a secure & elaborate Terms Of Service Agreement, Users can make real money by getting creative - from setting up their own business, to renting or selling their personal belongings, to renting out rooms, to posting job requests, etc. All of which will be able to be advertised. Users will also be able to post catch-all urgent help requests here, too.
Tipping: A real life currency tipping system will be available for users sending money to each other - perhaps for a paid service, to donating to a charity, to tipping artists, people offering help, and anyone in between.
Events: Displays all categorized local events for users to connect with. These will be created & broadcasted by groups, local services, and individual users. Adding events to your calendar & sharing events with fellow users will be amongst the main draws of the feature.
Interested? Feel free to further get connected at [email protected] for a deeper established connection beyond XDA
Thank you!
Hello guys, I hope I will not be violating any rules. I would just like to inform the community with our mobile. It's been in the playstore for a while but have no traction yet since we have not focused on marketing it.
It is called Makeapp. It's goal is to empower everyone to be able to create apps for hobby, business, etc.
We know that the UI needs improvement at first glance as well as user experience during creation of apps. With it's current version, we have already used it for providing several apps for a few clients such as an HR mobile app, delivery app, mobile dashboard, several e-learning apps, etc with few to zero coding. With these even business owners and non techy people will be able to create their own apps.
Hope you give it a try and give us feedback and ideas on how we can improve the product.
We are not yet sure in open-sourcing it but there have been discussions.
Here's the link if you are interested.

I work as a publisher to post exclusive things for freeIf I have an apple and you have an apple, we both have one apple, and if I give you my apple and you give me yours, we each have an apple and nothing changes But if I had an idea and you had an idea and I gave you my idea and I took your idea from you, then each of us has two ideas. This is the rule by which I live.
Greetings and welcome to XDA. Please take a moment to review the Forum Rules. XDA thrives on the sharing of ideas; however, we must be respectful of each others' work. Therefore, I would like to point out some specific items:
12.1. Give credits where due - Credits and acknowledgements for using and releasing work which is based on someone else's work are an absolute must. Works reported to have no credits will be taken down until proper acknowledgements are added by the member in question;
12.2. Courtesy - While most of the work released on our site falls under the umbrella of open source, that is not the only license model being used by developers on xda-developers. In order to prevent problems, we ask that if you decide to base your work on someone else's that you check the license model being used (as it might not be as permissive as one may think);
12.3. Re-releasing other's works as your own is forbidden. The code that you release into the wild must have something beyond minor aesthetic changes that makes it better than the last. As this can be subjective, kang reports will be reviewed on a case by case basis. If you feel that your code has been kanged, please contact the Dev Relations team (listed below) if you cannot solve the issue amicably via PM. Please understand that you will be asked to provide evidence to substantiate your claim;

Click to collapse
As a rule of thumb, it's always good form to ask permission before you use someone else's idea or work. If you take my idea without asking, I'm not going to be particularly happy about it, even if you gave me one of yours.
Additionally, please review the XDA GPL Policy. Compliance with all forum rules and policies is mandatory and non-negotiable.
