HELP! - LG Optimus 2x

Soo i just bought a LG Optimus 2x speed.
This is what i did:
- I Charged it fully
- I installed LG software, drivers etc
- I plugged the phone in the computer
- It said new software available, so i pressed update
- It said update failed, please remove battery and put it in again, turn it on and press try again
But everytime I do it fails! Now it's stuk in update mode!
Anybody please anybody got a fix for this?

Root it and install cm7 on it
Or try the ota update function (settings>about>updates (i think))

I think you misunderstood, it's stuk in sofware-update mode! I can't do anything

I had the same thing. I tried everything and nothing seemed to work. Then I found an application called Smart Flash, I don't know how this program works out what to do with it, but I kept pushing done buttons and suddenly there was some kind of reaction on my PC and after I removed the battery and replaced it again the phone was back in recovery mode. the next problem was that there was no more OS to run. But the pc was able to find the phone again so I downloaded some mod and the problem was fixed.
So you need to google for Smart Flash.
The file is called: LGOptimus2x_smartflash.zip

YAI (Yet Another Idiot) with "bricked" phone

Ok I feel so stupid.
I read about the issues that if you uninstall the LG Home screen you need to have another home screen installed. Which I had. everything was fine and the I got some issues (for example market crashed) so I decided to do a reset.
When it came around and I started the installation guide, it said that the installation guide has crashed and phone reboots to lg logo.
I though the phone had a untouched rom-file that it could revert to but I guess not.
So what to do? I've managed a couple of times to start android and connect the usb but since I only get mass storage mode there's not much I can do...
I've also tried to use the lg software updater but since it's the same version (and you can't reinstall the current firmware) it stops there.
I read some about odin for samsung phone, can I use that or any similar tools?
thanks
Forget vendor software from other than LG! They are incompatible with your phone.
Your phone is not bricked. With a real brick your phone will be nearly dead.
You can try to download SDK Tools from here (you only need the SDK Tools, not all of the SDK or the APIs)
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Install/Extract SDK Tools. You also need USB driver from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=953182
Then connect phone to your PC and search for adb.
Try this command:
adb shell
(it opens a linux shell on your phone)
Does it connect to your phone?
When yes, your chances are pretty big to restore your phone.
Type
exit
to get out of the shell.
I advise you to read this thread because it covers your problem pretty much:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=992945
Sorry, I cannot give you more help because I'm also not an expert with restoring system parts.
Thanks I've read the threads regarding deleted home screen but the problem is that I can't get the phone in USB debugging mode and therefor I can't use adb...
Have you tried hard reset? (Power + volume down)
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
Yes I have.
I would try the fastboot method
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
how do you fastboot lg p990?
I have no idea, and am at work now so i can't really search for it

If you have a kdz file (there's one available for the O2X in this forum), and get the phone into emergency mode you may probably have an alternative option to consider. Feel free to look at the following thread. The O2X will use the same LG updating software:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883314
Just make sure not to use a P500 rom!
On an Optimus P500 it's Vol+Back and then power on in order to get it into emergency mode, however I haven't managed to do it on the O2x.
Hope you get it working

Hi I've tried all day with both lg utils and with KDZ_FW_UPD_EN, none seems to work.
I reset it so that I can enter the guide but I when I press exit or go throuh with the guide "The application Setup Wizard (process com.android.setupwizard) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" and then it exit to lg logo... I can access the notification bar and enter wifi settings and some other things but I can't get to the usb menu. anyone know a "backdoor" to get to phone settings from activation screen?
Perhaps nvflash is the solution.
Someone with a working stock 2x could dump the rom using nvflash, and you could flash it?
Poul O'Brien has confirmed nvflash works on the 2x, haven't tried it myself though.

Edit: hmm, nvflash only identifies my gfxcard, guess i'm doing something wrong...

we're working on a recovery which could help you fix the problem. all we need is a little more information from somebody who acutally has a phone

Wrong nvflash.
You can still get it into nvflash mode and then flash cwm. A guide to getting into nvflash mode was posted on the MoDaCo site.
Paul will release cwm later today.

LG PC Suite Shows Phone Update Avaialble

Hi,
I bought LG Optimus Black week ago, Its Really Cool Phone.
I have insatalled LG PC suite 4.3.20, My phone is connected to pc suite.
When I try to Check Phone Update , It shows me Phone Update Available,
But I am not getting what kind of Update is that,
If anyone have idea about it please let me know.
I have default Froyo 2.2.2 installed which comes with phone.
Software Version is LG-P970-V10a
thanks
Yes probably it is V10b. Try to update your phone with LG mobile updater.
Sent from my LG-P970 using XDA App
Yeah maybe just 10b
Sent from my LG-P970 using Tapatalk
Thanks Everyone,
But update really necessary, do we have any improvements from that ?
I've eared that it helps with the battery draining issue but some people also told me that it doesn't change anything considerable and the battery problem isn't fixed. I think the kernel is the same and it also runs 2.2.2 so it's your choice. In my opinion you will not lose anything by doing the update but I also don't know if you gain something.
yes it's the 10B software. i don't really notice any difference but regarding the battery it might be a little improvement. if you root and remove some stuff you can improve the battery but that's probably the same with 10A.
if you want to update, make sure to first make a factory reset cause if you don't it might cause your phone to act weird. i didn't so i had to reflash 10A and then to 10B again.
When I connect my OB to LG Suite, it also shows me an available update.
If I try to apply it, gets me an error and tells me that my phone isn't connected.
I went into my phone settings and my software is up to date.
In my case, LG Suite shows me an incorrect information.
Guys, how come everytime I check my PC Suite IV it doesn't prompt me of any new phone update? My s/w is v10a. How come you guys have and my doesn't? And by the way, there is a new update also for the PC Suite IV. But when I tried updating it. It only shows Live Update searching and then gets lost and then gets back again. How come this happens? Does it happen to you guys to? Need your help here. Please?

An update is always welcomed, because it comes with some improvements to the phone. I made the update to v10b but i didn't find any changes, except the fixed video recording aspect ratio, which is the most important update for me and my LG OB.
Hi All,
When I connect my phone it shows connected on LG Pc Suite but when I click on phone update/ software update it says phone not connected. Can you please suggest what could be wrong?
you need to turn off the phone, and while plugging in the usb cable to your computer,HOLD DOWN the VOLUME UP button. there should be a screen saying "S/W update", then try using the LG mobile updater again
Thanks. It worked. I am getting SW Upgrade Please wait while upgrading screen. When i launch LG mobile update tool it is searching for very long. How do i restart the phone whithout this update?
Please help. Thanks
you will just have to pull out the battery and unplug the cable, there is no other way to restart the phone
My PCsuite IV says update available, but when i proceed to mobile updation tool, it says the phone is up to date.. !!

I have the same problem....can someone tell us why we are getting that message? why PC Suite sais that there is an update and the LG Updater sais that the phone is up to date?
thanks
Because it is from LG. I had sometimes same problem. Just ignore it ;-)
I;ve got another message. When connected to Lg update tool, update available. So i pressed start update and after checking sw and phone i get " This software is not compatible" What?! Anyway, it was so hard for me to revive my phone after i bricked it.
Just LG trolling us while they sit back and laugh at all the fuss about GB
How do you update to gingerbread? I have V10B now and software update doesn't detect anything.
Thanks in advance!

[Solved] LG PC Suite does not detect correct firmware version for OTA

I'm really stumped on this one so I hope someone can help.
It started when the v10d update was pushed via PC Suite last night. So I went ahead and happily updated it. Rooting it immediately and removing certain LG apps that I've always removed (including LGHome, LG IME, etc.)
1st major problem happened when I tried to go into recovery (vol down + power), only to remember that I haven't reinstall CWM yet. An LG progress bar appeared, and a full wipe commenced.
That issue was fixed with a Smartflash to an open Euro v10c ROM.
I have now restored to my stock v10b ROM, but when I connect to PC suite, it's telling me that I'm on v10d and there are not updates available! I've tried uninstall/reinstalling PC suite. Even restarting the phone. But I am still stuck with the same message.
I'd like to go through the OTA update again since it saved all my apps and it was (well kinda) hassle-free.
Help?
Delete the drivers & pc suite from the pc, then reinstall and reconnect, it did the job for me

A.... now drivers I didnt remove. Will try it now. Thanks for the reply mate.
I removed both PC Suite and LG United Drivers, same thing though, it's telling me that my current v10b is up to date. When I just received a v10d update yesterday.
TrymHansen helped me get a solution.
Just flash an older BB! As we know, nandroids don't touch the BB partition, and apparently, that is where LG PC Suite is looking at. I downgraded my BB to 0405, and LG is now telling me to update again.
My BB is 0405, but still it wont tell me that ugrade is avaible :S
Please help me
my bb also 0405 and its telling me its up to date
solution, anyone???
I've flashed new BB manually
No other way found.

You don't need root to flash bb use smartflash for this. According to my tests with bb it sometimes fixes the quality of the call nd reduces battery usage but some don't I got new bb + new til this morning form the forums and now its works really great
Give it a go

[Q] Bricked LG P990?

I've bought a LG P990 today, the seller told me he had put the cyanogenmod on it but it wasn't very stable, en he couldn't get the stock back on it, so he sold it to me for a fair price.
I thought i 'll put it back to stock en i'll have a great phone!!
so i tried to flash it, but the phone wont even start, when i push the volume up and down buttons the computer recogniced it, but i can't get the apx driver installed (not on win 7 + win XP) now i'm stuck........
can some one give me a hand with this? is there a way to fix this or am i screwed sorry for the bad english. please help!
search for nvflash, if nothing else works this will.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA App
i've already doen that, but then I'll need to install the APX driver, and that is the part where i am getting stuck. any suggestions?
anyone please!!
thats the driver on the pc? if so, what exactly is the problem?
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA App
I put the volume buttons down en connect the usb cable - the message 'usb device isn't recognize' - then i go to devicemanager - there is a "!" bij unkown USB device - left mouse click and point to where i stored the driver - but then i get the message" best driver already installed.
this is where i'am now - is there another way to recover the phone maybe with program on sd card or something?
the phone itself doesn't do a thing - screen black - no flashing lights, no nothing
am i doing something wrong? or is it really bricked?
i think you need a different driver for your device... here you can find the driver that i use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=953182
and you might also need the NVFlash drivers that is found here http://android.modaco.com/topic/335...k-rom-release-v10b-dated-1300166062-15032011/
tnx for the reply, but i have already have these drivers..(the lg driver that i've installed i newer though, does that makes a diffrent?)
I also talked to the guy i've got the fone from; he said that he accedently must have whipped te phone memory, is this irreversible?
and i've tried on a other desktop computer with win xp proffesional! (usb on the back) can it be that there is no apx driver on the phone? is there another way to connect and flash?

If he had cyanogen on it have you check if it has flash recovery?
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda premium
i can't check it, because the phone won"t start - screen stays black.
OK u will have to check where the phone is corrupted. When you switch it on does the LG boot screen start?
I think your phone is bricked. I had almost the same problem with motorola milestone. I bought phone with software failure. Seller was saying that he tried to update phone and it hanged so he sells it. I thought i will flash it and have a great phone. But I tried all of flashing, recovering methods and nothing... I took phone to phone service and they said that phone's motherboard is broken... So I sold it for parts and now I have LG optimus 2x. thats my story It hink you should talk with seller for more details. Also you can try to contact lg customer service. Maybe they can help you
I think that u should try on fresh win7 instalation.Put O2x in DL-mode and connect with computer.
Bricked Lg P990
You need to get the Nvidia driver for APX
Attached below:

Sorry Type in this in google and you will be directed to the download site for zippyshare.com

Best thing to do I think is to try flashing recovery. Yu can Google on flashing recovery it's pretty simple. Yu will be halfway there once yu can get your phone in recovery mode.

[Q] P970 isn't starting

dear experts,
recently i've rooted my lg optimus black, installed clockworkmod and instaled a custom ROM, this one was too buggy, so i decided to install another one, while it was installing, the connection was lost, and my phone now only has half of the software installed and doesn't turn on.
it is not showing any signs of life, no bootlogo, no less-black background, and i can't get it in s/w mode.
used smartflash.
i hope someone can help getting a ROM on it.

Oh. I understand your situation. Go over to the nearest LG Service centre and inform about your phone not working. Explain to them that you were using LG's software update tool to update your phone. From there, they will fix your phone.

Ics doesn't support cwm. U should install an older version of gb and then install one of the roms from the development section wich support cwm if u want it.
