What are most of you getting in terms of your 3G and 4GLTE service. I get horrible rates such as 100kbps down and 250kbps up with 3G, and then mediocre rates like 2mbps and 1mbps with LTE. To be fair, I do have horrible service inside the dorms at my school, and my speeds are generally better outside with better reception. I'm just trying to figure out whether or not its my hardwares fault, or my softwares fault.
my best 3g test so far was .74mbps down / .23mbps up with a 131ms ping
and my best 4g test was 14.39mbps down / 2.53mbps up with a 67ms ping
3G 1.25 Mbps down / 0.56 Mbps up with a 104ms ping
4G 25.49 Mbps down / 3.95 Mbps up with a 53ms ping
just ran a test, 25mb down, 6mb up, 67ms.
I don't think many people are on it right now.

Those speeds arent possible... especially the upload. What did you do to measure it? upload is capped around 6.
Sounds like everyone is getting some awesome results! I tried a couple more tests with 3G outside and the best I got was 200kbps down and around 150kbps. How do I figure out whether or not it's hardware in the phone, or possibly just crappy network service on my end?
in Newark, De (Uni of Delaware campus) I was getting 18-ish mbits down, and 1.5mbits up. Ill post screenshot monday.

I typically get 44-48Mbps down and 10-13Mbps up on LTE. 3G is 1-1.4Mbps down and .6-.8 up. Happy with it all
my highest i've ever had was 42.93/9.97

Hey well wanted to report my results from last night. Needless to say I am unhappy with "4g" and tethering. Least in VA T-Mobile.
Ok Tablet speedtest.net results.
1.5Mbit DL / 0.5~1.1Mbit UL (Sounds ok not too bad compared to my G1 on 3g which was 400 kbps)
Now here is where it goes to hell.
Wifi Tether then using speedtest.net on my PC
0.5 Mbit DL / 0.2~0.4 Mbit UL Ping 600+ to test server. Lag on video gaming like Team Fortress 2 was horrible... 500~1000ms ping to server.
I said hell with that tried USB tether. CONSIDERABLE performance increase!
1.0 Mbit DL / 0.5 Mbit UL Ping 165 to test server.
Team fortress 2 kept me at about 150~185 ms ping. Which didnt stutter too much, I was able to play smoothly online, Couldnt dogfight close and personal as well since I was a lil lagged behind but it is playable enough to perform respectably. =)
Now this is using the built in android 2.2 tether on the DS7. I do not know if there are better apps or rooted apps that would increase performance of tethering? Anyone know? It seems rather fishy that a wifi tether would drop in bandwitdh SOOOOO much on a high end system setup.
Also another note. USB tethering, does not seem to drain the battery! I had it fully charged and during my entire night of TF2ing, it stayed fully charged! NICE! =)
Test results was from Virginia Beach, VA, connecting to Washington DC speedtest.net
Anyone have some performance or tricks to get better bandwitdh results? =)

Haha. I only have ~10 down, but up, it's only .5 . Imagine uploading an 18MP photograph, which is about 8 Mb...and now imagine uploading a 5 minute video filmed in HD at 1080p, which is about 3-4Gb, on .5Mbps up stream.
I'm in Ottawa and my speeds are a little wacky. The first night I had LTE service I hit 40mbps, bit now its steady around 16-18 or so.
Should i expect my most recent tests or should i be looking for higher than that?

Were in Ottawa are you? Im in Kanata and have yet to see lte speeds. im in an ongoing battle with rogers to get lte here. they told me were there towers were in Kanata i went there and nada. i know hunt club and merivale is a strong signal as is baseline and woodroff were their flagship store is. I have gotten decent speeds here and there but i dont believe there network is even half functional. i bought my phone in Toronto in oct and the lte speeds were pretty consistent and coverage was fairly accurate in terms of their coverage map.
First they said my device was defective even though it worked fine in Toronto. So i bought a sierra wireless lte modem and had the same results to prove to them it wasnt a device issue. then i drove to there towers with google maps on my screen to show them my position and the fact that my phone was in edge and sometime 3g at best and emailed rogers tech support pics as well.
There supposed to send a tech out again tomorow but at this point im not very optimistic.
As you can see in the pic when lte works its great the speeds there are from toronto and 2 are from ottawa, just not anywhere near me lol, other pics are of my position less than 100 meters from the towers and you can see the network its on 4g if lucky otherwise edge (tower is corner of campeau and teron other one is castlefrank and 417)
Also do you have issues with the phone when it tries to switch between 4g and lte?
I live in sandy hill and work downtown. I hit 4g downtown but 90% of the time I'm on LTE at home which is pointless as I have WiFi.
Sent from my HTC-X710a using XDA App
i haven't really noticed anything when they switch, but i'm not really aware of when it does.
what i have noticed is that when i'm on LTE my signal kinda dwindles, but its not unusable. its actually more functional than with full strength on 4g.
So I figured out why I was getting such low speeds on my tests. I was running off a Montreal server so it was skewing my results.
After using the Ottawa server my results improved drastically. The top 3 are after I switched to the Ottawa network.
I am impress.
LTE for the win.

Damn pic...
Sent from my HTC-X710a using XDA App
Im in the same boat, for some reason speedtest and alot of other cell signal apps put me in montreal as my location when trying to figure out my location via cell signal. funny thing is it only happens when in lte, wonder if this is some sort of bug? when i change it to ottawa speed def picks up.
Also rogers is having issues with their lte they gave me 50%off my bill for 6 months so i pay 25$ for 10 gb and 25$ for my north america unlimited plan, may be worth calling in for you as well
AT&T LTE is about on par with your LTE speeds, cept I haven't managed to get more then 2 bars on LTE.
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda premium
I haven't noticed any signal loss or poor call quality so overall I'm impressed so far, other than it nit picking up my LTE in downtown Ottawa. Maybe I'll call rogers after all haha
Sent from my HTC-X710a using XDA App
I've found online that there's a setting the mobile network section to set it to LTE auto. After turning that on I haven't had an issue with my LTE network signal other than it dropping in my office building, but even then it still manages to pump out 15-20meg or so.

I think i have heard of them. Is that your only option in Sacramento? I just moved from hollywood and all we could get was time warner. (which was the worst ISP in el paso, tx)

see below
I have service from a cable company called Broadstripe. I'm in a Seattle suburb, but kind of in the boonies, and they are my only cable option... ludicrous, I know.
and, of course, they're awful. I'm paying for their 'most robust' internet option (15 megs down) and have literally never received advertised speeds. even when the tech came out and hooked me up, the first thing I did was a speed test... < 10 megs down at 10:30 am in the middle of the week, when speeds should theoretically be at their peak. have complained many times and received many worthless 'perks'. if I could change to ANYONE else, I would. even comcast, god forbid. I refuse to go DSL or satellite though.
furthermore, every night after around 5PM, the speeds go from less than advertised to barely usable due to traffic.
I just dropped quite a bit of money on a better modem with a built-in router and am hoping that consolidating everything into one package and having a DOCSIS 3.0 modem might make a difference. we'll see. I'm not expecting much and they're already making things difficult with the switch from their p.o.s. provided modem.. which I fully expected.
wouldn't recommend them and hopefully when I move in march I will have some better options.

Hey everyone,
we can't imagine the life without the internet. Today everything can be done with the help of internet. I am so lucky that I have a good internet service provider which gave me 20 Mbps speed.
Thanks
5 m/bit sec from my phone!
Here's what i just got at home. Must have been a fluke because UK networks just don't go this fast:
I live in Brazil. Here, the speed at 4G is quite difficult, depending on the region.
The north and northeast region of Brazil is a sign that it is a southern region is better.
PC: 32/8 Mbps.
As speedtest.net is unreliable and is often gamed by ISPs, i'd recommend fast.com as an alternative. It seems to return consistent results, at least on a fixed connection.
Unfortunately it seems almost impossible to get a reliable reading using any tester on a mobile connection. Results fluctuate wildly from one moment to the next and probably should be taken with a pinch of salt.
