After 5 days of flawless market (3.1.3) at 160 dpi that even included update notifications, I suddenly lost my apps list just a few minutes ago. I got the terms of service pop up again and an empty apps list. On a whim, I looked at the "accounts" menu option and discovered that it had inexplicably changed from my primary Google account (with all the apps) to the family email-only account. Upon re-selecting the correct account, the app refreshed itself and I suddenly got my apps list back. I never had to leave the app, and still haven't cleared market data in over 5 days.
Hypothesis: could Google be bungling its account management? I had checked my email in that other account just prior to clicking on an update notification. Perhaps Google's account management borked itself and the market simply opened the correct apps list for an account that had no apps (I.e. an empty apps list).
Can anyone experiencing an empty apps list check whether the market is still set on the right account?

Perhaps, but then I'm at a loss to explain why I appear to be the only one here with non-borking new market at 160 dpi all of a sudden. It was the only new thing I've experienced, other than flashing the new gapps.
One small point: the other account is not a Google account, but it is in my general account list.
I just updated gapps, the market was updated with it of course, and I have not had issues yet. I am at 160 dpi still, no problems in since the update (been a week or so). I also only have the one google account.

Yay, that makes two of us now (maybe three, but I haven't heard anything new from joenathane on this topic recently).
I flashed n197 and forgot to change dpi to 160 before booting, so I ended up having to clear market data after all. Oh well, chance to see if the mysterious fix continues to stick...
Everything is still working fine for me, I updated to 197 and flashed gapps, seems now I am running Market version 3.1.5, I have the DPI at 160 and no other changes. The only thing it looks like I am missing is the Movies section, which should be easy enough to gain access to by just changing the model and manufacturer info.
Looks like it is safe to say the Market is finally fixed!

just out of curiosity, would you by any chance be able to get the movies back in the new 3.1.5 version by simply clearing market data? I won't be home till late tonight, so can't play with it till later. Am surprised to see a new market version. was still 3.1.3 for me as of this morning. Also curious what would be seen at 240 (or a nonstandard dpi) in the new version.
I just got Market 3.1.5, for some reason, the icons are bigger which I don't like.
I didn't remember what the DPI was and haven't checked what the DPI is set now but I just don't like the big icon.
However, with 3.1.5, its settings has been revised and allow us, at least, turn off the Ad.

Just tried few apps and still see Yellow triangle with exclamation point with "Your device is not compatible with this item"
I wish they'd let me turn off Books and Movies in the market....
Anywho, don't break out the expensive wine just yet, the market tends to screw itself over a period of days.. So it might not have happened yet.

If youre seeing "incompatible" I would bet anything you still have build.prop set at 161.

Based on your comment, I went hunting for crackle and couldn't find it. But it didn't show up at 240 dpi either, or any other density. It may have some entirely unrelated dependency now besides some density requirement (perhaps a legit IMEI, as just one possibility?).
I can remember that in the past, some apps wouldn't show up unless it thought we had a camera, for example. So in a general sense, there may be some apps that we will never see in the market again on the nook unless sideloaded, if Google is serious about device awareness going forward.
We can't control some random app developer's idiosyncratic dependency choices, but at least we don't seem to have a borked market anymore either.

I already own an android phone and bought a bunch of applications. I just rooted and installed the market on my nook using the same email address that is on my phone. For some reason the market on my nook wont let me download my paid apps without buying them again. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I tried redoing it and I have the same problem. Does this happen to anyone else? Does everyone else have access to their paid apps without having to pay for them again?
I didn't have to rebuy my apps. But market has been updated since I installed them. Maybe a newer version of market changed something.
It really doesn't make any sense. Its definitely the same account. It has my credit card information filled out already. I even tried buying an app i bought previously, just to see if that would jog it. It didn't work. It charged me and i had to refund it. I really don't know what else to try.
Nope, all of mine show up as "Purchased". Every time this question comes up it's always usage of the same account, but you say that's already been checked..
Good luck.
Thanks. It has to be the same acount or else all of my redit card information wouldn't bebon there. All of my android market reciepts go to this accout also.
Try visiting this page https://market.android.com/account and see a list of your purchased apps.
Standalone web site should be more reliable, than an app, hacked in a stock firmware, which kinda doesn't support google apps.

Now I'm more worried. The site you linked to doesn't have any record of my purchases either. My google checkout account under the same name, however, does have records of all of my purchases. Have any idea what i should do now?

I always pay with credit card.
Does google have some form of actual support other than the forum?
I have nookie froyo on her now. Same exact problem. This is bull**** and definitely on googles end. When are they going to get a customer support line? I've never seen another company that charges actually money like google does in the market without having a customer support line. I'm sure whatever is causing this will cause problems if I ever get another android phone in the future.
Having the same trouble here
What kind of android phone do you have? Is it using a custom rom? I'm thinking that the problem isn't with the nook at all. It's with our other devices not registering with the market properly.
It's as I suspected. I flashed my phone back to stock and I can't redownload any applications either. My whole market account got wiped somehow.
same issue here, totally different tablet BTW (samsung galaxy tab). Same thing - I wiped and flashed a ROM (ironically, same ROM!) and afterwards all my paid apps are being asked to repurchase when I hit install. Similarly in the web market it says I don't own any apps....
I am able ot restore my apps via titanium and hilariously all licence checks for programs that implement them e.g. titanium, worms etc. continue to work thank god but Goog better fix this sh-t real quick. I have >50 paid apps so this is really really bugging me out (plus now I'm afraid to do any more flashing/tweaking)
Do you have the backup, OP?
If so, just run it instead of redownload from Play
Sure you used the same google account?

I e.g. get this error message with CyanogenMod 7 + auto memory manager afaik
it works on samsung stock roms & previously ALSO worked on CM7
dunno what changed (for the worse) with Market so that it pretends that that app doesn't work (or is incompatible) on same phone that worked fine with that very same app previously
New version of market does this (3.1.5). Previously I could get it to keep 3.0.26 installed and I wouldn't have these problems but now no matter what I do it automatically updates.
Do you have a higher LCD density setting? Try changing it back to the stock 240. If you don't have a higher LCD density setting, you should ... device is much more usable with the added real estate ...

Wow. That actually worked. Thanks mchud!
An elegant solution 4 "your device is not compatible with this item"
I don't want to change my lcd density.
I use s.u.r.f.a.c.e. rom with 182 dpi and I'm quite happy this way.
I don't want to change to 240 once in few days or few times a day.
So what I did was listen to this guy here:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-downgrade-android-market-3-0-26-to-old-market-tip/
The solution:
I downgraded from 3.3.11 (I had "your device is not compatible with this item" too many times there - IMDB for example) to 3.0.27, and I tried "IMDB" - it was available!
Now I'm busting my head to remember what were the other apps I had to search on internet for APKs (freeapps, but with mentioned problem - so no downloadable), and check them out...
Lets see: QuickPic -working too!
------------------------
Edit:
#$%/"##$!!*!!!
The Market is worse then Freddy Krueger!!
It keeps comming back, and comming back...
The Market update has to be blocked, cose in few minutes I was unwilingly updated back to 3.3.11 and of course was honored with "your device is not compatible with this item" once again...
So - keep Market from update, and you'll be fine.
for examle like this.
OK - I will snoop a bit more around, but this could be the painless way (I don't mind using an older version of Market. On contrary - under these circumstances... )
p.s. - Hope someone'll find this useful - I used this forum so much, it is nice to contribute...
Last week i had a same problem... i got that massage when i was trying to install facebook... So the problem was that i had change LCD Density to 200 using Rom Tollbox... so maybe just maybe you have the same problem!!!
Update:
I haven't been able to retain version 3.0.27 of market, as soon as I connect, it automatically updates to 3.1.3.
Despite I have tried most of mentioned methods to prevent market from upgrading.
I renamed updater to .bak - it updated afterwards.
When I tried terminal method, I got the
"unable to open log device '/dev/log/main': No such file or directory" error.
So I am trying to figure out where the problem is...
If I find out - I'll let you know...
Most often its the resolution that is the problem. Change it back to 240 and make sure to go to home screen -> settings -> applicationg -> manage applications -> click on all tab -> search for Market -> click on Market -> and clear data. When I first set to 240, it was still showing not compatible. Once I cleared data, I could install all the previously "incompatible" apps.
Some Fire users have been complaining, about problems with Google Play Services, that apparently has stopped working on some Amazon Fire Tablets with FireOS a couple of days ago.
Others also have mentioned that this could be due to the new FireOS update, that was released.
Does anyone have noticed this strange behaviour with the Google-Play-Services and Goggle-Play-Store?

I suspect this is indeed due to the recent bump in FireOS to 5.3.2 that breaks root and may disrupt existing Play Services/Store/apps installs. If validated rolling back to 5.3.1 offers a path to root and fully functional Google Play Services. Always a good idea to block OTA updates so you (not Amazon) if/when updates are applied.
Totally true!

May have to decide between the latest the features in FireOS 5.3.2 vs Google components. Rolling back to 5.3.1 is one option; custom ROM is another.

...So hard to decide!
I can confirm that the latest OS updates breaks most Google apps (Drive and Chrome seem to be OK).
I am on a formerly 5.0.1 tablet that had been rooted and converted to CM 12.1 back last December. Google Play Store has also stopped working for me just a couple of days ago.
I should also note that I have tried all the usual remedies, for example flushing the various caches including the dalvik cache, removing and re-adding the Google account and so on. Nothing had any effect on the problem. The symptom I see is that the download appears to proceed, but never finishes. After about 15 minutes I get an error #492.. I was just about to reflash the tablet with the latest CM 12.1 release when I saw this thread. I'm still using the release from a year ago.
I further note that I monitored network traffic on my routing machine using tcpdump and did not see anything to indicate that the tablet was actually downloading from the Google Play Store.
---------- Post added at 05:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:57 AM ----------
An additional note:
I've just tried implementing 2 factor authentication on my Google account. It had no effect on the download problem I mentioned earlier.
---------- Post added at 05:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:49 AM ----------
And yet another note:
I removed Google Hangouts from the tablet, which was the app I was trying to update originally. I was able to download and reinstall it without difficulty, but it called for an updated "Google Play Services". That one will not download. That is where I've been getting the lack of actual progress and the eventual #492 error after 15 minutes. So for me at least, it seems some difficulty with "Google Play Services", and perhaps not with the "Google Play Store" app.

Issues have been reported with the current build of Google Play Services and/or Store on a wide variety of devices. None of my custom Amazon devices exhibit this behavior but a tablet from another manufacturer running a stock rom does. Very frustrating. Hopefully Google is working on a fix.
You probably already have, but have you installed the newest Google framework and supporting files? I have one of the new Fire 8 HDs and it updated to 5.3.2; I followed the directions on this site but downloaded the latest Google framework and files and it works absolutely fine. Maybe worth a try if you haven't already.

My watch has updated, but now my phone keeps popping up this message:
Please update Zenwatch Manager to match your Zenwatch's system version.
I have uninstalled the Zenwatch Manager, reinstalled it, but same thing. Does anyone have any ideas about this? The version installed on my phone is version 3.2.0.170213.
I'm still on AW1.5 but my manager is at 3.3.0.170620
Maybe check APKMirror.com for an update?
Go to Play Store page of Zenwatch manager and scroll to bottom, subscribe to beta channel and update the app after few mins when it becomes available. Should fix the error.
Thank you both for your replies. Installing v3.3.0.170620 fixed the problem. However, now I have another problem. It seems to be impossible to transfer Google accounts from the phone (HTC 10) to the watch. It just hangs forever. I googled for this and noticed it is not an unusual problem, but I have yet to find a solution. Grrr!

That's a negative. I only have one account. I have done a full reset, then waited until the Android Wear app prompted me to create my account again, and re-added it there. Nothing is working. I have cleared cache and data on AW, Google Play, Google Play Services, removed all my accounts (google, facebook, htc, GoPro, etc), turned off Bluetooth and Wifi, then did the full factory reset, and still no luck. I had that issue, and this is a Wear 2.0 problem, not only this watch. Most of the "help" I found was related to the new LG watches.
I read some actually made so they had no account at all on the phone and forced the initial login on both phone and watch at the same time to make it work.
Are you a custom rom user? If yes, try to start from scratch with the rom clean flashed (after all the backups, of course) and see if that helps. (I am on OP3 + custom AOSP rom, if that can help you to rule that out).
Some people said you should go through all the tutorials on the watch, or try to add an account from the Google assistant on the watch, not sure what made it work for me.
But that sucks to have to jump through so many hoops to make a watch work!

I am not running a custom ROM, only a rooted stock one with very little self mods. I have read at least 1000 messages pertaining to this problem, and have tried nearly every suggestion mentioned. Nothing has worked. I feel pretty certain it is an Android N problem, as it seems everyone running 6.x is not having problems, but many people with v7.+ are. I will try sideloading the watch tomorrow with a re-flash. I will also check out the ASUS forums and see if anyone else is having this problem. Until then, I will remain hopeful. Same here, as far as I can tell, but I tried very shortly since I don't like any default watch faces coming with Zen watch manager

i found you can edit the watch face directly on the face, not from the phone app,
Okay guys, I finally got it to transfer my account to my watch. Whew! I know I tried these steps all before, but I found this, and went through it all again very carefully, but I DID set up a second Google account first, without syncing it. I found this on the Google forums and is credited to Andy Roberts:

Let's try resolving this by starting fresh with cleared cache on your apps required for your watch on your phone and pairing the watch again to your phone .
From your phone:
1) Open the Android Wear app and use the Disconnect option.
2) Now make the app forget your watch: Navigate to: Settings --> Device settings and touch the watch name, select FORGET WATCH.
3) Let's now remove your watch from your bluetooth settings: Settings --> Bluetooth -->If you still see the watch, select the option to forget/remove.
4) The next stage is to clear the app cache for the following apps on your phone:
Settings --> Device --> Apps, --> Google Play Services --> Clear cache and Clear data.
Settings --> Device --> Apps, --> Android Wear --> Clear cache and Clear data.
Settings --> Device --> Apps, --> Google App --> Clear cache and Clear data.
5) Open The Google Play store and make sure you have installed any pending app updates, if there is, make sure you update them.
6) Now reboot your phone.
From your watch
1) On the watch, navigate to: Settings --> Unpair watch to perform a factory reset.
Once your Android watch has been reset and your phone has rebooted, follow the steps on this link to reconnect your watch to Android Wear app on your phone: https://support.google.com/androidwear/answer/6056630?hl=en-GB&ref_topic=6056389
It will take a while for your apps to sync over to your watch, some apps are large in size and may take a day to sync over.
You can make Android Wear Resync the apps, you might need to do this if for some odd reason some apps are missing or connection to the watch was disconnected:
Phone-->Android Wear-->Settings-->Select Watch-->Resync apps.
PLEASE NOTE: Remember it takes a long time to sync apps, this is so it doesn't greatly affect your watch battery, so please don't press the Resync button too many times, leave it for a day before pressing it again which should not be required.
End Andy Roberts
Something else that might be important: The Android Wear app seems to be a two step process. You really must exit it once your phone gets stuck saying waiting for setup to continue (or something like that) and the app is just sitting there saying Connected. Kill all your apps, then run the Android Wear app again, and it will start up a continuation wizard. This is were the accounts actually get set up. It showed both, the new one I had just set up, and my very old previous one I wanted to keep. The rest is self explanatory.
[GUIDE] New method to install Google Mobile Services on Huawei P40 / Mate 30 and other phones without GMS
Hi guys!!!
I'm thrilled to report that I just found this new way to get Google Mobile Services to work on Huawei and Honor devices that don't have them.
It's totally working [today is 20 june 2020] and it SOLVES the new problem that doesn't let the users sign-in to their Google accounts at the time of the installation.
Everything is very detailed and shown step-by-step on the following video...
Please be sure to download the .zip file that has all the stuff needed to get this to work. Using this method, that zip file must be copied to the root a pen-drive. It's here, for Android 10: https://bit.ly/2ATWPGE
[UPDATE - 29 / June / 2020]
Important stuff:
- You must have your phone in english in order to proceed with this method.
- After it is complete you can switch back to your preferred language, without problems.
- If you want to add more Google accounts, you should do this procure while you are installing GMS. Use this link: https://youtu.be/jgCN6SeP32c?t=1418 It guides directly to the right moment in that video.
By the way, it's working great for a lot of users. Push notifications, though, aren't working.
Still, I believe this is the best method around.
Cheers!
Amazing!
Just tried it - not working for me. Got passed the sign in issue where the old method failed, and successfully created a google account. However I get the message at the end of the process that my device isn't Google Play certified. I followed video to the end where I repeat the uninstalling and re-installing the last items again, but still the same error. I can get Play Store to run, and download aps, eg Gmail, but when I run it, there is the same error about play services not supported.
UPDATE.
Repested the last few stages AGAIN and now - Gmail runs and I can see my emails, however after a few seconds it closes every time.
Play store is no longer working.
Getting an "Error while retrieving information from serve: DF-DFERH-01"
I'll keep trying I guess
OK, giving up. I have repeated the uninstall, reinstall steps several times now and can't get it to work. Interestingly, in Device ID software my phone no longer shows any information for Google Services Framework, IMEI, SIM Subscriber ID, Sim Card, Hardware Serial. I'm guessing this is why Play Store won't run. Have tried rebooting.
Going to remove everything and reboot. Have to wait for another guide/work around.

same issue here..
the "new Method" works only temp...
- it works only on english system language
- after change to german system language, you get this error: Error while retrieving information from serve: DF-DFERH-01"
- or this can be fixed b ycleared cache and data of the services framework again (+force stop) but than you are can access google pay store but than the notifcation issue starts again.
Its not 100% and its not heaven and not better as any other methods on the past. It only fix the "google server can not be reached issue" and add two more problems..

You are wrong. You are writing many wrong things. I used this method on my P40 in asian language and all works good. No notifications after reboot or similar. That DF-DFERH-01 error is a common problem that can come out also on previous guides. You need to reset your device and start following the guide from scratch.

That's a common problem also with old guides. You need to reset completely your device and follow the guide from scratch until the Device ID appears again.

Is there any way to fix this. I tried lots of tutorials/guides nothing works. I want notification to be received atleast in MS teams.
Not sure if any of you used THIS tutorial. It works perfectly. Only thing I don't have is Gmail notifications... No errors of any kind...

I'll wait until others post about their experiences. I have wiped my device, done a full factory reset. Interestingly I tried my online banking app before wiping it - it reported me as signing in from another device. It listed this phone and the phone from yesterday (same handset) before I attempted this as 2 different devices. So I'm wondering if this works by sending some spoof ID (or even changes ID) to Google to get it as an authorised device, especially as a lot of the info was missing from Device ID? Play store was originally working up until you have to start uninstalling and re-installing files.
I may be tempted again at some point, especially if there is a way of doing this that works long term. But for now I think I will invest my time in finding alternatives to Google apps and look to moving my info across there. The only thing I used on a regular basis and will miss is the contactless payments., especially with Covid19. I can get emails working using another app that has access to Gmail. It's easy enough to export your data if you want to ditch Google. So far I've only encountered 2 non Google apps I use that refuse to run, FlightRadar24 (geek alert) and Ebay. It should be possible to access these from browser, I guess - not tried yet. And I have a good alternative for YouTube that works great as well. I can even use the online banking. Only had the phone 2 days, so still enjoying trying something different to my previous Samsung phones.

I noticed that my Google Play Services has an update in the Play Store. Do you think I should just leave it alone or should I update it? I don't want to break the whole thing again

No idea,
I'm a bit hesitant to update as well for the same reason.
Maybe someone that knows better can advise us.

That way hasn't worked for some time as it fails where you have to sign in to your Google account.
The updated way gets you to sign in from your browser.
The issue is something breaks once you start the uninstall and reinstall part. I had Play store running fine, and notifications coming through. Device ID doesn't show up any information about the phone any more and I get the error the device isn't authorised for use on Google Play services.
At the end of the video it states the steps to take if it doesn't work. Repeated them numerous times with no success. Factory reset phone and gave up.
