suddenly , when I try to update some FREE apps in Market, it says: "your device is not compatible with this item"??
What is wrong so sudden?
Some are for limited countrys, some are network provider limited, and some are model/android version/phone or tablet only.
No, it's not that....
Everything worked for me till yesterday, I had nomessages of that kind (for the same apps - Cool Reader etc.), but now....
go to market setting on the phone and enable all apps from maturity filter

this won't help
I e.g. get this error message with CyanogenMod 7 + auto memory manager afaik
it works on samsung stock roms & previously ALSO worked on CM7
dunno what changed (for the worse) with Market so that it pretends that that app doesn't work (or is incompatible) on same phone that worked fine with that very same app previously
New version of market does this (3.1.5). Previously I could get it to keep 3.0.26 installed and I wouldn't have these problems but now no matter what I do it automatically updates.
Do you have a higher LCD density setting? Try changing it back to the stock 240. If you don't have a higher LCD density setting, you should ... device is much more usable with the added real estate ...

Wow. That actually worked. Thanks mchud!
An elegant solution 4 "your device is not compatible with this item"
I don't want to change my lcd density.
I use s.u.r.f.a.c.e. rom with 182 dpi and I'm quite happy this way.
I don't want to change to 240 once in few days or few times a day.
So what I did was listen to this guy here:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-downgrade-android-market-3-0-26-to-old-market-tip/
The solution:
I downgraded from 3.3.11 (I had "your device is not compatible with this item" too many times there - IMDB for example) to 3.0.27, and I tried "IMDB" - it was available!
Now I'm busting my head to remember what were the other apps I had to search on internet for APKs (freeapps, but with mentioned problem - so no downloadable), and check them out...
Lets see: QuickPic -working too!
------------------------
Edit:
#$%/"##$!!*!!!
The Market is worse then Freddy Krueger!!
It keeps comming back, and comming back...
The Market update has to be blocked, cose in few minutes I was unwilingly updated back to 3.3.11 and of course was honored with "your device is not compatible with this item" once again...
So - keep Market from update, and you'll be fine.
for examle like this.
OK - I will snoop a bit more around, but this could be the painless way (I don't mind using an older version of Market. On contrary - under these circumstances... )
p.s. - Hope someone'll find this useful - I used this forum so much, it is nice to contribute...
Last week i had a same problem... i got that massage when i was trying to install facebook... So the problem was that i had change LCD Density to 200 using Rom Tollbox... so maybe just maybe you have the same problem!!!
Update:
I haven't been able to retain version 3.0.27 of market, as soon as I connect, it automatically updates to 3.1.3.
Despite I have tried most of mentioned methods to prevent market from upgrading.
I renamed updater to .bak - it updated afterwards.
When I tried terminal method, I got the
"unable to open log device '/dev/log/main': No such file or directory" error.
So I am trying to figure out where the problem is...
If I find out - I'll let you know...
Most often its the resolution that is the problem. Change it back to 240 and make sure to go to home screen -> settings -> applicationg -> manage applications -> click on all tab -> search for Market -> click on Market -> and clear data. When I first set to 240, it was still showing not compatible. Once I cleared data, I could install all the previously "incompatible" apps.

I've read about some interesting apps, but I can't find them in the Android Market for some reason. A few people claim that these applications are available in the Market, but they just don't show up for me.
Some examples:
- ShareYourBoard
- BioWallet
- Pandora
- iSkoot
- beebPlayer
- Bluex
- Ecorio
- cab4me
- DoggCatcher
I've even tried to scan some QR codes in AndroLib.com, but I get an error saying that "There are no matches in Android Market for the search."
Does anyone know why that happens? I should mention that I live in Brazil (not sure this makes a difference) and that I use MoDaCo Custom ROM 2.9. Besides, the option "Unknown sources" is checked in my phone.
Thanks for the help,
Tiago
are the apps officially available in your country? did you try market enabler?
Some apps are not supported in all countries.
Example: BeebPlayer (stream bbc shows) is only available in the UK.
I Downloaded Beebplayer from an apps pack, it told me it was only available for people inside the UK.
Also if you search for some apps, like Beebplayer the marketplace app shows something like "1 result found" but shows nothing except for the usual "did you type the name correctly blabla."
Hope this helps,, I experienced the same thing, it gets really annoying but nothing you can do. maybe work with a proxy or something but since I'm not a developer I can't help you with that.
Regards,
DaanJordaan
Have you applied the MR update? This update has caused some apps to not show up in the market.
I used Market Enabler and it worked only 1 time. When I rebooted my phone then I had to reapply the "patch" from Market Enablen and when I got to the market nothing worked like it should.
I mean that Market Enabler didn't worked the second time I tried to fake my market.
Yeah, us Sprint folks are totally ****ed. THe new update, as awesome as it is, makes it so we can't see stuff like twidroid pro.

you are not alone
kendong2,
Market Enabler helped a lot! Using the setting for T-Mobile, I was able to find the following apps: Pandora, iSkoot, Bluex, cab4me and DoggCatcher. Pandora doesn't work in Brazil, but that's a different problem. Restarting the phone restores the old settings, but I can always use Market Enabler again.
However, I still can't find ShareYourBoard, BioWallet, beebPlayer, Ecorio and AndNav2. According to DaanJordaan, beebPlayer will not work in Brazil, but I'd still like to install the other apps. Has anyone managed to install these apps? Any tips?
I'm not sure I have the MR update. As I said, I installed MoDaCo Custom ROM 2.9 and didn't apply any other updates after that.
Thanks a lot,
Tiago

Has anyone found a solution to this yet?
The market is impressive but I would ( I know I'm not alone here ) love to have access the whole market.
I have a rooted sprint hero, stock ROM with the update.
Same issue here too.
Any of the big name stuff like shopsavvey, compare everywhere, facebook amazon and the rest is not showing.
Hello i have the same problem with modaco 3.0. "MR" update is that short for modaco ROM ? And people using market enabler should remember to clear market cache under settings - applications - market
I was scouring the forums and found the build.prop for the xoom. I haven't tried it yet but I'm planning on replacing the ID with the nook honeycomb v4 with the xoom id and seeing what I find on the market. For those that are interested here is the relevant sectino of build.prop
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/trygon/stingray:3.0/HRI39/101999:user/release-keys
Wonder if we can get those sweet honeycomb apps.....
GK
Funny you should ask, I just tried it - didn't work.
What's more - the "Top Paid" Apps have disappeared???
I also just tried spoofing as a Nexus S. That didn't work either. Again Top Paid have disappeared.
I think I did everything right - cleared Market cache, force closed, and reboot after saving build.prop
I use WeatherBug as a test case, because it installed fine from the Market on my Autonooted Stock ROM. Can't even see it in HC 0.4
In addition to my previous - when I attempt to install software (that I cannot see on the NC) from the web Market,I get an error message "Unknown PDLogic Zoom2". So even though I think it is properly spoofed in build.prop, apparently it is still seen as something else.
Market fingerprint
I've tried loading both fingerprints on the nook devs site but neither of them are working.
I didn't get any error messages in adb so i assumed it went through.
Also, "My apps" in Market shows "No downloads from Android Market" even though I've downloaded and purchased a few apps.
Is there any other tutorial on how to change the build.prop correctly?
Its the sdk version thats the issue... dont change it in the build prop either, it non-boots

Hi
Up until yesterday, apps, whether paid or free would download fine on my device. Nothing has changed my end, but today, paid apps will no longer download (free apps download fine). There are two issues, the authorising payment page takes eons (used to be instant), and the phone sits on the 'starting download' or 'downloading...' pages for ever without ever actually downloading the app that I have paid for. Issue is present whether I initiate the download from the phone or from a PC.
Obviously, this makes the phone next to useless. I have no time to wipe/re-install the phone - especially since this may not even fix the issue!
I can find no 'report an issue' link at google's market to get support on this issue. The apps purchased are past the refund window.
I have tried all the various fixes I found on google (start google talk, kill cache/app settings for market and downloader), try another internet connection, restart phone blah blah, nothing has worked.
Anyone got any suggestions?
Nigel
Paid apps that had previously been installed and then removed will re-install fine... I can only assume that its the authorisation thats failing (nothing wrong with any of the cards on my google wallet account).
Nigel
Go to setting - application - manage - All - market - clear cache n Data
do same for talk (google talk)
first login to talk then market
In market application - check setting - accout - Fix default if you have multiple acc
Hi
As mentioned in my original post. I already tried that. I just tried it again with the same result.
After having done the above, I tried to buy the app from my PC, Got the following message 'Your order is still being processed. Your item will become available as soon as your order is complete. If you'd like, you can check your order status at anytime.' which is not the norm. Clicking the link within the message takes me to the transaction in google wallet which is listed as 'complete' unfortunately, the download does not auto-start (like it used to) on the phone, and when I force it to manually start, It goes to the 'starting download...' message. The app never does download, market app just displays this message forever more until I go and 'clear data' for the market app.
I give up! Looks like I am stuck with what I have on the phone + whatever I can get for free.
Have emailed google, will update thread should they bother to respond.
Market version is 3.4.4 | Download Manager is 2.3.5
Have you vosited web version of market?
Market.android.com login with google acc.
You will see your purchased appl there, if u can see there, click on install from there, it will start installing to ur device remotely
Try it
Hi
Yep, tried that - does not work. I can initiate the installation of free apps from the market on a pc, but not paid apps. The paid app I am trying to install is listed as having been successfully purchased. Looks like a bug/glitch, but one I am going to have to wait for google to fix.
Do you have the Amazon app market installed?

This issue seems to be with KL3 onwards and region or could be csc dependent, the only fix for this is to use the older market version the 2.6.x
try going into recovery mode and choose fix permission
Hi
Well, I got an auto response from google 'we are looking into it', but no emails since. Tried again this morning, and everything just started working again. Whether this was an issue with the market, my market account, my google wallet account etc is unknown.
I'd like to know the reason so I can fix it if it happens again, but at least its now working again.
@ericshmerick: Nope, no amazon app market. I don't believe this works in the UK
Nigel
The exact same thing is happening to me were you able to eventually get the apps you purchased its been about two days and the problem persists I have filed a support case with Google happening on two phones and a tablet ans the web market through a PC isn't working either. It seems to get stuck at authorizing the payment .

This was a big problem two weeks ago. I think the CheckROM guys figured out how to fix it. Their forum has a nice FAQ at the start. Have a look there. If that doesn't help then wade through the Rocket forum.

Since our Tabs never had an official tablet rom (either Honeycomb or ICS) Android Market dosen't know it as a tablet, so we can't download tablet apps from the market.
I wanted to know if we could change our tabs name or not, like by changing the build.prop.
It seems (as I googled it) changing build.prop works with the old market, but what about the new market?
Is this even possible?
Edit:
I changed my tab's name in build.prop to GT-P7500 and now on Android Market (web page) its written GT-P7500 as well, but still it says: "This app is incompatible with your device."
BTW, on Android Market (app), whatever I search, it says "No Result", although the app name is in the suggestion part in the search field.
Edit 2:
Changing build.prop works with the old market. This way I can see and search among tablet apps. I don't know if it works with the new market, because like I said before, no matter what I search it says "No Result", even with the original buil.prop
I use appbrain to search for apps, it finds the desired app.after clicking on the install button, it opens market app and then i can download and install. Works for me
I changed my LCD density to 120 (which is too small for some but perfect for me) and I can get all tablet apps from market 3.4.4
This is my GalaxyTab. There are many like it but this one is mine.
If, by some kind of freak occurrence I helped you, please hit THANKS!
i've been searching around for answers. there are a lot of questions similar to mine, yet no one conclusive and simple answer.
i want to achieve two things :
1. for those with auto updates, i want them to just install directly without me having to click update at all.
2. for those that require manual update, why can't they install automatically even though i've already checked "enable auto updates"? I want these to be automatically available too.
some might say i would want to review the changes before updating it. for my case, i don't really case - i prefer to stick to the latest version, even if there's bugs/new quirks etc.
thanks!
Tick "allow automatic updating" for all the installed apps in palystore
And then go to playstore settings>auto update apps
hi,
somehow it doesn't work for certain apps even if i check auto-update. for instance, ASTRO file manager always gets updated manually instead of auto.
any idea what's happening?
Apps require a manual upgrade if their permissions change so requiring hitting accept is security related. (At least this is my understanding, feel free to correct me)
i guess thats correct.. i have seen that the apps mainly comes up as manual updates are when more permissions are added..

there is another app-specific option for disabling auto update. It means, even when auto updates are enabled, they will ask for permission! This helps not updating big games! To check that, go to the app on play store, hit the menu (hardware touch), check if Auto update is ticked! :good:

Yes that's correct. The manuel update is needed for new permissions and for the apps you have install through a explorer
