[Q] Rooting Question; did I mess it up? - Motorola Droid Bionic

Hey, so I rooted my Bionic yesterday and everything went well. I started deleting the bloatware with Titanium Backup, then I realized I should ahve been just freezing them instead.
Should I unroot it and reset the phone? Will that bring all the bloatware back for me to freeze once I root it again?
Thanks!

You can purchase the TBH app and debloat and rebloat as needed.

Doesn't the TBH app just change your apks to have a bak extension? I don't think it will reinstall them if you deleted them, it will only undo the change. However, flashing the fxz will put them all back if you really need them.

Read the stickies in the dev forum. You will not get your files back without running the FXZ (new SBF) and resetting to factory new. Team Black Hat app will not doing anything to apps you deleted.

[GUIDE] How to *UN*root your Droid Bionic

Follow this link: http://www.psouza4.com/Droid3/PetesMotorolaRootTools_v1.05.zip
Download the Pete Motorola Tools, this now has an option to unroot, as well as root again if you need it
NOTE: Do not use "restore /system/app" It is *only* for the Droid 3.
NOTE #2: This does not restore renamed/deleted apps. If you want to return it to complete stock, re-add or re-rename the app you deleted or renamed before unrooting.
Again, we still have no SBF, so all returning to stock methods will have to be manual for now.
Excellent thanks for this
is this a temporary make shift unroot method? or a fully functional....as if we had an SBF file type unrooting.
It's makeshift in the fact that it's not a complete system restore, as explained above. For that, we'll need a full SBF.
So in other words, the Verizon warranty is still void. I feel like this is the main reason why people un-root.

If you haven't *deleted* anything, or if you un-freeze everything *before* you un-root, then it will bring your phone to complete stock. What this doesn't do is restore your system if you've deleted or frozen apps. All of these precautions must be taken *before* un-rooting.
Once that's taken care of, un-rooting will bring your phone back to how it was before it was rooted and hence, your warranty will be back in tact (for all the Verizon reps know, technically your warranty is still void)
Does anyone have a list if stock apps? I know I deleted Kindle, NFL, & Blockbuster. But I cannot remember what else I may have deleted. {{YIKES}}

I am also looking to restore Guided Tours & News. If I unboot, can I get my phone back to stock even if I've deletex Guided Tours & News?

Let me know if this is correct. If I remove apps, then un root. can I re root, replace apps, then un root again to be back to stock?
Thanks in advance if anyone knows for sure.
Does this work on Windows XP? Pete's Root Tools are listed under Windows 7.
I see this is an old thread. I need to unroot to return to Verizon. I rooted .902 with Motofail and wondering if I could use Pete's to unroot. No apps removed just froze. I need to send this back tomorrow. Thank You

[Q] bionic factory restore

I looked around and couldnt find a post that acctually answered my question. I'm a noob to the forum so if i missed it i appologise. i was wanting to do a factory reset on my bionic .902. However i wasnt sure if the .893 one click will work with the .902. I used titanium backup to uninstall a few things which has caused a force close on my factory text messaging. i have done a built in factory reset it changes nothing. i did not sync so titanium backup wouldnt change the settings i still get force close. basically i want to restore and start over. i would appreciate any help you can give me.
R3l3as3droot and for3v3r root can take you back to stock 886. You may want to try that. You will have to get back up to date afterwards but it should solve your problem.

Rooted and worried a bit

So I rooted my Bionic.
Then installed titanium back up. And then backed everything up.
Then I committed the mistake in uninstalling some bloatware and then I read that some people are not getting updates due to deleting the apps and not freezing them.
I said...FUUUUUU there goes ICS!!!!
So I went back in, did a restore app+data and still some didn't come back.
I restored them manually and I thought...It's all good now.
But no.... I have crossed out in titanium back up the following two files.
com.android.music
No back up yet
and
com.pv.android.verzion.mod
No back up yet
I cant get them to "uncross".
Does anyone know anything of these two apps...and if so, Am I still screwed?
Thanks
If someone does not provide you with them, you can always just FXZ back to stock 902. I'm on ICS so I can't get them.

Transfer set-up

I have spent lots of time getting the .2233 leak set up exactly the way i like it. Is there anyway to save this, go back to the upgrade path, then restore the phone set up after the Verizon upgrade? Thanks in advance!

Yes you need to root your phone using the razer's edge and install titanium backup and you can back up all apps and data and restore it after the official update.. You can even save system data like text messages and wifi passwords.

Restoring system data with Titanium can be a problem. I've been able to restore the home screen, blue tooth pairings, and Contacts with no issues moving from one leak to the next. I had an issue trying to go further than that when moving from the 229 leak to the 230 leak, where my home and search keys stopped working. So just keep that in mind.
Back up your data in Titanium to be safe, then use SamuriHL's script that pushes the necessary image files to your phone to allow the .905 and ICS loads without overwriting any of your data. I used it a couple of days ago on a coworkers phone and it pushed him from 2231 to 230 with no data loss at all.
Thanks for the help. Not sure what I'd do without the help of people here!

Hey, I found this in another thread, credit goes to this guys for writing this.

I was able to use this method to go from .2233 to .902, to .905, to .230 again without losing anything.

At&t bloatware

Hi, I am now rooted on stock JB and want to delete all at&t bloatware and process that slow the phone. How can I do it?
Sent from my MB886 using xda app-developers app
First of all make a copy of every bloatware app. Put it in a backup folder on your SD card or something. Then you can either use titanium backup and just freeze each app or use root explorer and actually delete them from /system/app and /vendor. Be careful.

Download Titanium backup, make a backup and then delete all the bloatware from within Titanium
I am in the same situation and just want to be clear so I don't run into problems down the road.
Rooted on JB, through Ti did a backup of all user apps and system data.
So if I now go and uninstall bloatware etc. through Ti and accidentally uninstall something I shouldn't I can just restore the backup I made and be OK. Correct?
Also, down the road if a miracle 4.2 ota comes out I would need to restore all factory apps I uninstalled to update without problems. Correct?
Never rooted without unlocked bootloader before and used to just doing a NANDroid backup as a failsafe.

Yes. Its easier to just freeze the bloat ware though and defrost when needed.
sent from my JokerMATRIX HD MAXX
Isn't that the same as using the disable function already in the JB ROM?
Sent from my MB886 using Tapatalk 2
Similar but not the same and easier to unfreeze if we get an official ota update as oppose to restoring. And you can't accidentally delete something you need.
