Hi,
can`t find information on how to change or replace the stocklockscreen (2.3.5) without using apps. I want to mod it the native way. For start, will it be possible the cayyanogenmod-lockscreen to replace the stock with that? How to?
Rom is rooted with CWM installed. ADB is working too.
Hope someone can help me, i googled but found pnly ways with using apps. And i tryed to find it myself but there is nothing like lockscreen.apk on my sgs.
I don't know how it's done, but there are those "10 Lockscreens" mods which I think are CWM flashable, so that would be a good place to start looking, I guess.

Thanks for your answer, a link would be nice
Is there no way to directyl import the cyanogen-lockscreen to the stockrom?
search it on XDA: "AOSP lockscreen on galaxy s JVS"

I don't have any ROM cooking experience, but hopefully someone can work on an ideal ROM for JPK
It would be a rooted and optimized ROM with the following:
- LauncherPro Plus
- Music PlayerPro
- Fancy Widgets
- DroidX Multi-touch keyboard for Froyo (confirm working awesome on my i9000)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=764021
- Latest Swype
- APPS2NAND
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756157
Place the following to NAND:
- Default App List from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756157
- LauncherPro Plus
- Music PlayerPro com.tbig.playerpro
- DroixX keyboard (com.android.inputmethod.latin)
- Swype com.swype.android.inputmethod
- Fancy Widget com.fancywidget.android
Feel free to chip in ideas
LauncherPro Plus - u serious? ;d
Would be awesome for this with launcher pro though you can activate the plus afterwards. Also touchwiz should be removed.

Good luck getting someone to help you, I'm flat out getting an answer to my updater-script problem!
You can try to download a custom rom like the froyo remix and mod it according to your needs.
Open files with winrar, delete or add and try it... also i found a script to create update.zip but cant remind, try to search for it.
edit:
If you want to create a full custom rom you need to use a "kitchen" (can be found at samdroid or modaco).
It could be possible to create rom using tools like nandroid and clockwork recovery (flash, install app/mod without sim or sd, then backup).
If you just want to mod a rom already flashed, you can use an updater script like this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769374 but if you change fils inside you will probably need to edit the "updater-script" and validate the apks using this: http://www.londatiga.net/it/how-to-sign-apk-zip-files/
It would be good to create some kind of "how to create your own custom rom" whitout using kitchens or harcode, some kind of gui tool where we could put an official rom, and remove/add apk/odex then choose to build the full rom or just the update.zip ...
Good luck
Why would you want APPS2NAND? It is slower than any lagfix available.
Apps2NAND is needed because Oneclicklagfix 2.0 becomes slower than going without any lagfix after a day or so.
The only good solution for JPK roms at the moment is apps2nand. Try putting your keyboard on NAND, you'll be able to type really fast like I am doing right now without any lag *I even have word suggestion on*

I used to be on darky's rom and just flashed seearms rom (for several reasons)
In darky's rom when you want to add widgets to the homescreen, the several widget option for the same app used to be combined together. I know there is an app/tool for this, but can't seem to find it now. Please point me in the right direction

Hi,
What do you mean by "the several widget option for the same app used to be combined together"?
Id like to help but I dont think I understand what you mean...
I know what your talking about.
Search here on xda for 'App Widget Picker' - put it in /system/app with root explorer. No reboot necessary.
Actually, screw it. File is attached haha.
Rename it to appwidgetpicker.apk.
Thanks.. this makes selecting widgets so much easier!!

Hi There,
I've tried searching all over and cannot find anything so please forgive me if I'm asking something that has been asked before...
I am looking at all the wonderful custom roms out there for the Captivate but it seems that some of them do not have the classic Samsung Keyboard. I'm very fond of inputting text via the old school 3x4 portrait style with predictive texting and notice that some of the roms do not have the Samsung Keyboard, which then pretty much rules out that rom for me.
So I was wondering if there is a way to add the 3x4 portrait samsung keyboard to a rom somehow if it wasn't originally built/packaged with it?
Yes, there is definitely a way to do that. It will involve rooting your phone, and finding the .apk of the keyboard into a certain folder with 'Root Explorer'.
I'll see if I can find the Samsung Keyboard .apk for you, and I suggest you getting Root Explorer (or similar) for the time being.
romkitchen.org create an update.zip NOT a full rom. they have the samsung keyboard available! and much more!

Very awesome site! But I must ask... I can't seem to find the Samsung Keyboard there though... I can only see "Gingerbread Keyboard" under the Keyboards section...

Wow!!! That is AWESOME!!!
I'm still a noob so pardon if I ask some potentially obvious questions... *bows head in shame*
I am getting Root Explorer and have not used it before tho have indeed rooted my phone and flashed an existing rom created by others (currently using Serendipity 5.12)
Would this Rom Kitchen method be a simple addition to a current rom via Clock Work Recovery - Reboot into recovery mode - install zip from SD Card type of thing? Or would I have to go into the folder and replace the different files with whatever is generated and rename the file, also as an addition/alteration to a current Rom that I was using?
Or would you basically be generating your own custom Rom altogether with this Rom Kitchen by starting from scratch and selecting each part of the rom yourself like the Base Rom then CSC then Kernel then Modem then Apps Etc and then doing a master clear and flashing this as a brand new rom?
And if the generated file is essentially a brand new Rom altogether, would it be possible if I just generate one with the desired "additions" that I was looking for, open that up, save/copy the additions I wanted and then just customize an existing Rom I really like by swapping out or adding those additions in the appropriate folder?
Thank you to all in advance by the way!!!! I really appreciate the help!!!

the Samsung Keyboards (and all the rest of the keyboards) are under the "Apps" tab area? But I don't know what the difference is between the Samsung Stock JPY and JS3 keyboards? Do both have the portait 3x4?
Oh yeah, I see it now. Weird, I could only see Gingerbread Keyboard before! (Maybe the page didn't load properly).
They don't differ too much, you should be fine with JS3!

That's strange! You're Right!! If you choose "update.zip" as the Base Rom choice (which I assume is just adding onto your existing Rom after playing with this site more) then the Samsung Keyboard Does Disappear from the App Tab Choices!!!
Yeah, I just realised that as well... I might hunt around for you and find the Keyboard's .apk right now
It'll be a different set of instructions, but it won't be "too" hard. Basically the option via my first post in this thread.
If you were to install Serendipity, you could use this:
http://serendipityrom.weebly.com/add-ons.html
The Samsung Keyboard is there.
Sent from my Captivate
Yeah... for now I'm just going to use the Serendipity Rom..... Thanks!

You should try search and if you did you would find:
SplannerWidget
You will have to be rooted at least with a custom kernel that has cwm or twrp. Lots of information on how to do that available, just use "search" and you will find it...
thanks for the link

if you take your time, do some reading, explore the vast amount of information here, do searches for things like kernels, tutorials, root and that sort of thing and you will do fine... and don't be scared of the thanks button :good: LOL...
You just need to be rooted, you don't even need a custom kernel. A root browser app will do the trick, download the zip file provided by bob, open it and extract the apk inside system\app folder. Move it to your phone's system\app folder and set permissions rw-r--r-- :good:
Hello. I am new in Android developing. I want to start from somethink "easy".
I just downloaded 2.3.6 JWB firemware with Semaphore kernel and i want to edit is.
I need help with this. My first think to edit is lockscreen. I want to Change font and center the clock but i dont know which files to edit.
Also in "MesoROM" i saw that lockscreen circle is changed to animated one (like s3 mini and other samsung devices with ICS/JB).
Anyone can help me to make this or to PORT this lockscreen from jw8 rom to jwb?
Also i want to make theme 'like s4' but also i dont know how to do it. Edit images isnt problem, XML is harder (i dont know which file to edit). I know HTML, CSS, PHP. I even used to "touch" C++, Java Sccript and XML so i can teach everythink verry fast. Just need some tutorial or a person who can be my "MASTER" :]
Please anserw this thread or message me :]
I have few questions. If anyone could anserw would be great.
1. How to change "auto rotation" togfle to "mobile data"
2. How to move "clear" button from carrier laber bar to the notification bar like in newest galaxy s series devices. I saw this in saurom and ana rom and cant make myself
3. Wchich file is the lockscreen xml file to change font etc.
Thanks

Problem being , you need to use search and post your requests in the correct forum on XDA to get correct and quick answers. you would have made progress and response , when you post here
