[Q] to US SGN owners who bought the POLISH ver from HANDTEC

i cant seem to update to 2.3.6.
where you able to update yours? how? OTA? KIES?
can anybody please point me to instruc on how to do it?

I think mine was the Polish version, and the update finally came through last night - through the phones updater.

did you have the EURO (unbranded) version or the PLUS (polish network) version?

I rooted mine, then put on a custom 2.3.6 ROM (Sheep ROM 1.2)

OTA. Unbranded unit
Initially update wouldn't go through so i went ahead and flashed back to stock from rooted status and applied the update and then root it again

I received mine from Handtec on November 30, got the OTA update the next day, and it installed fine. Have rooted since then, without difficulty.
It was in Polish when I started it up, but I have no idea what "Plus" version is.

My update is ready, but Im not updating till ICS, or the 1.5 4g lte working on t-mobile.

I think Plus is the name of the polish carrier these were branded for.

its DEC 5 and still no OTA update for my unbranded polish ver galaxy note from handtec. :-(
just wanna update to 2.3.6 for the battery usage issue with 2.3.5.
quick questions to the GURUS:
* can i just flash the HONG KONG ROM ZSKK1 (2.3.6) on mine?
* do i need ROOT for that?
would really appreciate the hand-holding! ;-)

I used Odin and a copy of the stock ROM to do just that. I was stuck in a mode where kies kept reporting that my phone wasnt supported for upgrades and changing my code to DBT made my phone find tge upgrade, but refuse to install it. I rooted at first and bricked it during a failed upgrade, so I used Odin to drop the HK ROM on it with success.

Yeah Im using the t-mobile hotspot right now, until I can figure something out.
'Edit' thinking of cancelling or lowering the internet package on my phone and just use the hotspot for now.
My hotspot plan is 2gb for $39.99
and my phone data plan is 2gb for $20.00

I got mine from Handtec yesterday (Dec 6th). Polish version unbranded. I was able to update via OTA. The update notification came through as soon as I connected to wifi.

Wondering the Same. I downloaded the SPR. Not sure if thats the right one.

I am pretty sure they are the same. I downloaded them both and they have the same size, date and md5.

Thanks, I like having it all in one place.

So, it looks like everything here except will flash in heimdall except system.img.ext4. Gives an error after 4%:

Any ideas on what is causing this? Haven't tried with ODIN, since I'm on OSX and don't have a virtual Windows machine setup for this.

I downloaded this firmware and restore but it's still IMEI NULL and BASEBAND UNKNOW...please help me, how i can fix it

I have added US Galaxy S 4 firmware pages to my website. In addition to the full stock firmware, I also mirror the OTA update ZIPs. Each time there's an OTA, I'll need someone to pull the OTA file from /cache or, better yet, check your adb logcat and see if the direct URL to the file is in there. Hey guys, Im new to the forum.

humm would "13.9.0q2.x-116-LCX-26" be the firmware version? Build version, that sounds about right.

Looking at your screenshot you are not typing the correct information to install apk. For T-Mobile you would need to type
adb install -r PwnMyMoto-1.4.3-TMobile.apk but in the screenshot you have adb install -r PwnMyMoto.apk

I was able to do it just by downloading the APK for T-mobile using chrome browser on my phone. I didn't need a command line nor a computer to get root.

also, if you get the OTA update that came out Monday, I think they patched the exploit so it won't work anymore.

Okay @jcase I think I found out whats going on!
The model is XT 1058 like the ATT version, but from looking at the system version I found out I have the Puerto Rican version from the service provider Claro in Puerto Rico!
The firmware or system version of the phone is: 139.7.26.ghost_row.AmericaMovil.en.PR

I found my own way around it! I unlocked the bootloader :good:
then installed clockworks, used rsd light flashed Tmobile on it so i can get the system update, flahsed the root thing from clock work! all is good

I got the same Puerto Rico Moto X off ebay, and I have it unlocked, and cwn is flashed - but how do I get the TMobile Rom onto it?

UK MK7 to US MK7?

I installed the UK MK7 update weeks ago and want to switch back to the US now that it's available to get Exchange previews back. What's the CSC code for the US? Kies won't update since it says I already have MK7. Is there another place to download the new ROM? Can I downgrade to an older US ROM and let Kies update that way? I would, but I can't find even the old US ROMs.

Yes you can downgrade, Here is the thread where you can get the USA version. (OLD)
XAR is the USA version - Last one in the list (Labled as Cellular South)
Also you can go here and get the current version, Currently the top one in the list.

Was thinking the same thing but wondering if it even makes sense to do? If the UK gets another update (which I assume will be before the US again) won't Gear Manager download it to my UK rom first?

I decided to reload the old ROM and re-upgrade not being sure if were differences. I had some wierdness after loading the old ROM which I suspect was program updates intended for the new ROM. You might want to do a reset to wipe the gear before dropping back to the old version.
Having done so, though, I used Kies to upload the new US ROM and it all went fine. I am now on the US MK7 and all seems well.

I see no discernable differences on the surface. Under the hood, I can't tell. It seems unlikely to me that different versions would be left with the version number. Time will tell.

I did notice s voice on the great activates a lot quicker, I'm coming from uk mk7, odin'ed to us mk7. Synched to a gs3

Thanks for this information, as I was not sure I was on the UK or the US version, having flashed the UK rom, but then being unsure if what appeared to be an update recently actually was. I am in USA and on the XAR version now. All have been working great with Exchange and other notifications.

I opened both .tar files (XAR from USA and BTU from UK) and they have the same exact size on all their subfolders (not a single Byte more, not a single Byte less) I assume they are the same firmware. Why Sammy took too long to update USA firmware? Weird right?

OMG, thanks for this almulder! It is not clear on Null Gear Recover pagethat all the US people are being sent to a link to download MK2 version which gives the scrunched recovery view. I'm still figuring this out, but this post makes things a lot easier.

Omfg! Thank you so much almulder, I was finally able to upgrade my gear to mk7 thru odin, kies kept freezing on me & gear manager was no help either :-/ this is why I love the android/xda community sooooo much, people like you who are always here to help

Check you build number
Check your build number (under the software version). If it has Dev-Key in it, it is probably developmental firmware.

I flashed stock and locked the boot loader and now my watch running 6.0.
