hi just wondering if any one prefered a kernel to use with cm7 and if so which one am looking for a kernel good on battary life nad performance thanks
I've been running 2.6.38.7-CFS-redstar+ for a while now and easily get a day and a half out of a full charge.
Get it via Kernel Manager and I think it's the one with the most downloads. Runs great.
Until recently* I was using IR's kernel using Smartass v2 governor. Stable and good battery life.
*HTC repair has left me stuck on stock gingerbread 2.3 4

OK i'm currently using Darkys v8 custom ROM which comes with Advanced voodoo kernel. And I haven't enabled any lag fixes. Was think of installing Speed Mode kernel. Just wanted know what is your experience between these two kernels.
1. Which kernel have more battery life without any lag fixes and tweaks ?
2. Which one of these is best to improve speed ?
Thanks.
i would not personley now i have stock frimware rooted a couple of times then accidentley semi bricked phone while applying the voodo lagfix now waiting for cyanogenmod stable for galaxy s but i think personley doc rom is the best

Thanks for the reply.. Question isn't about custom ROMs it's about kernels..
I'm using hardcores speed kernel 500Mhz which is quite fast and before I used voodoo which was also quite fast. Any you choose will be good as long is newer and stable version

I personally have use both Voodoo and Hardcores and i do see Voodoo draining battery life much faster,
Havnt tried the new voodoo though ,plan to do it tonight will let you know after.
Also voodoo plays traunt with the battery so i suggest flashing at 100% batter and wiping bat stats and then see the drain.
Hello xda,
I've been off for like 2-3 months so I dont know much about "new" roms.
My current rom is 2.3.3 Darky's 10.1.
So what rom is really stable + has good battery?
What do you people recommend?
Thanks!
for me stock deodexed JVS 2.3.5 rom + darkcore 4.0 kernel.... normal usage 1day8hrs....
I like CM7 best but your mileage may vary concerning battery.
Thanks guys.
I'll try to find a good one

Darkey's 10.1 is still their last one (to my knowledge) and a very fast and stable ROM, but these are pretty good too. "F1 SGS II" and "F1 InnovatioN" and "SYMPLY".
one of the best rom on jvs right now is jetpack rom v5 'spark' ot has amazing battery life ! while i havent flashed it yet and i am still on v4 because i dont have a pc or a lappy these days! but the users feedback suggest that its super stable and has mind blowing battery life! v4 has amazing battery life too and as jvs has better battery life ao v5 has superb itself!

The darky crew has since released 10.2(EE & RE) 10.2.1 10.2.2 10.3Beta and a JVS Base ROM. From my standpoint I found 10.2RE and the JVS base to be much more stable, snappier and have better battery than 10.1 and others have claimed the same about 10.2.x in regards to 10.2
Now finding stock JVS With semaphore to have even greater stability.
Sent from my A501 using XDA App
for me simplicity 0.4 with semaphore 1.6.. i get around 1d2hrs with moderate use
You must consider lastest stock XXJVS, it's stabe and has a very good battery life.
But for me I'd stick with lastest CM7.
Best looking ROM: MIUI
Most unstable and worst battery Life: MIUI
In my opinion.
Now im searching for something stable + good battery life.
Testing Darky 12.2.2 atm but idk which kernel i should use

And thanks everyone, I'll try them.
Pioneer Rom with talon kernel works nice about a day medium usage and over 3000 in quadrant

Latest CM7 nightly have pretty life battery, maybe better than stock samsung Roms. You can heard about it that CM7 was fastest rom for galaxy s.
Hi, my girlfriend wants me to flash her sgs with a new rom as her stock rom has become very laggy in the past month. What is the best gingerbread rom for speed, stability and battery life? I'm currently leaning towards F1 Innovation HD V7.
Thanks.
There are many good roms, my favorites are:
- SauRom
- Amestris
- Hybrid v12
- Tsunami

I like it so much!!!
Just install ICS best rom ever for the i9000 i didn't even use GB i have skipped it currently on Dark Knight ram free no lag good battery and everything u need
I am using DarkyRom since months.. its rock-solid & fast.
Tried SAUROM, Simplicity,Ario rom -all of them are very stable, have almost equal battery life on Semaphore kernel. The best battery life i had with Elitemovil Rom, but i think that dev is inactive on that rom...
Right now i'm on Amestris 7.3 jw1 -very good rom, nice battery life, like that orange theme
I used the gingereal rom a long time! it´s very sad, that the porject was stopped for all time. With Semaphore Kernel my handy runs like hell and the battery was totally annoying. Darky´s rom is also a very good alternative, too.
I had CM7-1.0 before with pawitp kernel.
Today, I flashed the latest CM9 nightly and right now am on the stock kernel.
I have the following kernels with me at the moment:
—Semaphore ICS Kernel from here
—Devil3 from here
My questions:
Which one of these Kernel will give me the best battery life and is fast at the same time?
Will I get a bootloop if I flash either of these kernels over the stock kernel which comes with the CM9 nightly?
There are both BLN and CMC kernels on this page. Which one should I be using?

1. Try it yourself, flashing kernel is about 1 minute. Both kernels are great.
2. Try it yourself, bootloop isn't yet diagnosed. Sometimes it happens sometimes not.
3. there are only 2 versions: cmc (cm colours) and vc (voodoo colours).
Also before flashing wipe cache/dalvik and clear init.d and ns tools

Hi, before you flashing a new kernel, flash first the kernel cleaning script from lipol. then you have no problems with the new kernel.
And what you think about midnight Kernel? I use this Kernel and i'm very happy with them. You have with that kernel a very good Battery life.

Used to always use kernel cleaning script lately Kernel cleaning script gives me boot loop nearly everytime.
Wipe cache, wipe dalvick, clear ns tools and clear init.d is fine.
Of the kernels you have mentioned i have found semaphore to have better battery and to be more stable unless you want to over clock. Or that is my experience anyway.

After using stock cm 9 kernel for quite a while I was curious to try out semaphore and regretted it only hours afterwards...
With Antutu Benchmark App I got 400 Points less compared to stock kernel... after some hours my phone hang up (black screen, ne wake up). Some hours later the next black screen... Finally I got back to stock kernel and I am happy again
Its very fluid and responsive, in my opinion there is really no need für a custom kernel in CM9, only if you need USB Host support and the ability to overclock...
I'm using devil3 kernel and I love it, it's just awesome. I think it's more customizable than semaphore, but a bit harder to set. Anyway, you should test by yourself both of them, remember to flash lippol's kernel cleaner before flashing a new kernel

Devil kernel is the best for me. I love all the options and speed. I over clock to 1.4GHz, use lulzactive governor with smooth UI profile and everything is tuned for performance and I still get almost 2 days on battery. Using cm9

I would suggest devil kernel, it has a very good battery live, some great features like swap or zram
And BTW: Just flash your kernels over each other, no use to flash kernel cleaning script neither wipe dalvik cache. it has nothing to do with kernels ;-)

Devil3 for me too. As well as being fast and having decent battery life, it's the only kernel that had voodoo color. Once you've found the best settings for your screen there's no going back.

Devil3 for me too. It works like a charm. :good:
I'm running CM9 stable with Semaphore 1.3 on 1.2GHz and smartassV2 governor.
Never had any problems with semaphore so i keep using it. my battery lasts for 1 day while running games for several hours, and up to 4 days, if i barely use it.
i know many people don't like benchmarks, but i thought i'd attach my quadrant-score anyways.

As the title suggests I would like to know what kernel people are using with what Rom and why.
Do you use the same Kernel with every Rom you flash?

Well im on stock 2.2.1 froyo with CF-ROOT kernel. got this phone as present lats week. haven`t flash it yet xD but ,as anyone here, i just love flashing
I am using cm9 nightlies - based on 4.0.4 because of its stability, good battery life and performance, settings + twics - tw launcher, weather widget and some other things from sgs3, atm with devil3 .79 kernel, with stock ram (378mb, if needed, i can increase it up to 403mb), stable oc up to 1400mhz (with semaphore 1140max., 1200 -> bootloop), also gpu is oc-able ... but if u dont want to oc, semaphore kernel is better for u
I'm reinstalling right now the miui speed ics by lucainno, with devil3 kernel. I really love this rom expecially for the layout, which is different from any other rom! The speed is great and battery life as well. And the kernel is simply... awesome! For its customization
Hi, I'm using ics 4.0.4 cna by franzy with the midnight kernel. I had the devil before but i got a bootloop. With the last midnight the phone is smooth, no lags, good battery life, no bugs until now !
Saurom jw5 + semaphore + ext4 works for me.. very smooth ops. Sticking to 2.3.6 for the fm radio

I'm running the CM9 nightlies as well, with a Semaphore kernel. Very stable and good batteri life, although I'm thinking about comparing with a devil3 kernel. Right now, with the battery life I'm having the most important thing for me is the stability, though.
