Or a dip in the road for that matter

As in hydraulics? Or do you mean you crash into the things and set your airbags off (Don't know if US has the same meaning for airbag as UK?) Used to have a '66 Mustang, That the picture in your sig? Looks nice dude

Similar to Hydraulics, but much smoother ride. Actually big rigs (transport trucks) use them.
Hydraulics are real bouncy.
@MacaronyMax
American cars wouldn't survive the UK roads would they Even the better ones are like an off-road course!
This was a cool concept though. I wonder why we're not using something like this now tbh:

Personally, I prefer sports cars and road racing. The "track" is my show
My current is a VW MKV R32. But for you UK folks, in my early days, I owned and raced:
1968 MKIII Triumph Spitfire
1972 MKIV Triumph Spitfire
1974 Triumph Spitfire 1500
1973 Triumph GT6
1969 Lotus Europa S2 (Jimmy Clark special with the black Lotus badges)
1972 Lotus Europa S2 that had a 180hp hemi Renault Ghordini race engine in it. Imagine the looks of Corvette owners, when I blew them away, LOL!
1968 English Ford Cortina GT
In High School I had a 63 MGB. Also love the 1960 Austin Healey & Truimph TR7.
This is what I want to get next a "Beach Cruiser":

If your hydraulic suspension is bouncy, its time to replace your spheres
All 3 of my cars have hydraulic suspension, one of them with active suspension which is why it can take 0.94 lateral G and is the unbeaten champion of the moose swerve test, reaching 65mph while still being able to safely swerve around a moose in the road. And driving with just 3 wheels fitted gets interesting looks.
Oh god I'm such a geek
Seriously though, they were designed for driving on appauling French roads of the 80's and 90's, which make them perfect for the roads of 21st century Britain.

I can't remember what model it was, but my neighbour had a Citroen twenty years ago, where you chose the ride height with a lever? The lever was where the handbrake would usually be as the handbrake was on the dash. When the engine was started the car would lift up at the back and then at the front.
Is that the same thing we're talking about here? Our roads are getting so bad here i'm thinking trading in my eleven year old Ford Escort for one of these:

That's the stuff, I've got 3 Xantias, the last with proper green blood, although their handbrake like the BX before them is in the right place.
XM's had a pedal for the handbrake, fine if you had an automatic and interesting if you had a manual and therefore 4 pedals!
Unbeatable ride quality though.

Tarheels all the way. We have been up and down this season but things are looking up under Davis. I hate Florida, so I was upset Tech lost...plus being from Texas I would prefer a Texas team be in the BCS championship.
Ya, i feel you. it sucked when we lost that game earllier this season and dropped from number one. We have a great team this year i would have loved to see them go undefeated.

its a three way tie for a ranking position
College and NFL fan here. I'm a native Coloradoan so I'm a Broncos, Avs, Nuggets and Rockies fan.
Graduated from CSU (Colorado State Univ) and still go to Rammies home games in Fort Collins.....definitely not a powerhouse like OU, Texas and company but we've got some tough conference teams with Utah and BYU now. Hopefully the program will keep progressing and moving forward.
Anyhow, I always watch the Big 12, 10, SEC and ACC games and have followed the BCS mess with OU, Texas and TTU this year. Don't know who should go to the championship game but I think OU and Texas are better teams than TTU as of today. Too bad OU and Texas couldn't play for the Big 12...whoever plays Mizzou will likely win by a good margin.
Good luck to your Sooners in the BCS!
Big win for my Broncos on the road against the NY Jets...plus San Diego lost so we're looking good in the weak AFC West.

I can't agree with soccer being better, they are both physically exhausting. I played both throughout school, soccer more. But, i can totally agree that soccer can wear you down. Running up and down that damn field game after game always hurt, especially in the cold. But it was worth it all for the MVP trophy!
Well well looks like OK is number 2. Hopefully your boys can beat Mizz and go against Alabama for the championship.

i've played both and i wouldn't say either is better..... they both have there "advantages" and "disadvantages" (soccer and football)
i will have to say though that i think the hardest sport out there is wrestling by far....
Try cutting 30 to 40 pounds in two or three weeks to get down to 7 percent body fat (the lowest allowed) and then be able to even stand up..... much less wrestle someone the same strength as you, i breaks down to technique and who wants to get there hand raised in the end more..... its a really mental sport, its all about who will break first
Wrestling is not the hardest sport out there, at least for me. I've been learning wushu in Beijing for 5 years and I must say that wushu kung fu is one of the hardest sport. Yeah i know wushu involves wrestling but the forms comprise basic movements are stances, kicks, punches, balances, jumps, sweeps and throws. You could be a bodybuilder, weight over 700 pounds and you will see yourself on the ground trying to beat someone who knows kung fu..
Dude that play Bradford did was one of those hold your breath and hope he isn't dead...LOL. At least when they chocked against Boise St. it was one of the best games in college football.

colligiant wrestling is the same way, that why i like it. I like sports that require more than just steroids to be a champ at. Obviously i'm not say lifting or getting big are a bad thing, i still like football obviously, but its refreshing to have sports where its not JUST about how hard you can hit someone but about what you know and how good your technique is.
you can put someone twice as strong as someone with good technique, and in wrestling the person with better technique will win everytime.

I can build the ultimate burger in my own kitchen without having to listen to screaming brats in the background...
I like making my own burgers too, but I do them rather plain - just minced beef with some salt and pepper to season, and then slapped on a George Foreman grill to cook. I tend to make them the shape of bread and make sandwiches, rather than round ones.
What kind of home-made recipes do others use? It'd be interesting to spice them up a little.

The ingredient you are missing to make the perfect burger is... onion soup mix.
Add a full envelope to the mixture and shape the burgers. Then flour--eggs--flour and fry them.

As a fan of Burgers between buttered Toast, the square idea is rather appealing...and is in fact an imminent threat to my diet, thanks!
As for how i make them... Butcher fresh Minced Beef into bowl. Throw in an egg or two for binding. Breadcrumbs for drying. Finely chopped pickles, onions and chilie. Salt, pepper, puree tomato and ginger to season. Make patties, cover and put in fridge for a few hours prior to cooking. Grill to perfection, add a slab of cheese and eat between two halves of whatever bread product.
Anybody else feeling really hungry for a Burger right about now?
Edit: Forgot the puree tomato!

But a lot of bikers HERE (see what I did there?) wear them (not this specific brand) because it's small/light and easy to carry a patch kit or tube.

Have you ridden critical mass on the last Friday of the month here where WE live? You'll notice quite a few out of the 400± riders have hip pouches with tools, keys, pump, cell and their Unlocks. It's not a sexual preference thing. It's a thing of convenience. Being able to be light yet carry essentials while dodging cars..
A man bag doesn't define me. I carry a Chrome Messenger bag strapped to my back, but it's too large for everyday use.

Looking for a slim trim bag
• I am looking more for a slim fanny bag to just nicely fit my neXus 7 in its folio case without extra bulk. I would like to look as business like and trim as possible considering I will be wearing a butt bag. These dimension specifications seem to be a hard find on the internet.
• I found this - walmart.com/ip/Travelon-Carry-Safe-153-Anti-Theft-Waist-Pack/12360607 at wallmart.
I'm female, but I wouldn't get one of those bags for my guy. Too much candy in those colors. Plus, of course it's a fanny pack, so I'll pair it with a Member's Only jacket.
Has anyone else looked at Waterfield (SFbags) for a backpack type of style? They have cases for the Nexus 7 too.
This is something I've always wondered. In many movies and shows I've watched about USA, I've only seen semi-trucks and semi-trailers. Kenworth, Peterbilt etc.
Do you have anything similar to this scania truck?
That truck and trailer has a maximum weight of 60.000 kilos here in Sweden (and Finland), but possibly less world-wide.
We have some decent ones.

They don't only has those trucks.
They have something called "cars" aswell. Mind blowing news really
Just a heads up but the internet recently added a magical feature called a search engine. Typical search engines include, but are not limited to, Google, Yahoo, and Bing.
In America trucks come fresh out of the factory with these installed

I have searched, a lot, over the years and I have only come across semi-truck. That kinda answers my question? Ah well. My second question is why.
Is it because of the weight limits? Narrower roads? I don't get it, because I'd like to think a truck+trailer could haul more load (volume) than a semi-trailer.
All of our roads here have weight limits, so that is probably a factor.

We have weight limits too, but a bit over 90 percent are 60 tonnes roads. But, my point is, a truck and trailer like we have don't just haul a lot of weight-goods. It can also load a lot of volume. More so than a semi-trailer.
Know what I'm saying?

They call them box trucks from the looks of things, although it seems Luton vans would be included in that name.
A separate tractor unit that can haul different trailers is more versatile.
Also remember that traditionally American engines have to be huge to produce the equivalent power/torque to an European one, hence the jutting out nose of many of them. If fuel is ridiculously cheap there is no push for maximum efficiency, which allows for huge gas guzzling vehicles, while over in Europe where fuel has always been more expensive our vehicles are smaller and more efficient. Even some lorries now tow curved roof trailers to reduce drag.
Another reason for this is engine access. In Europe with the engine under the cab you have to tilt the cab forward to work on the engine and several mechanics have died by not securing it.
What are the lengths of the 2 trailers in the op? Our semi's are typically 53 foot trailers. They will also double up on 2 28 foot trailers. It's also common place here to see the trailers loaded onto trains to carry them across the country.
We also do have semi trucks with a flat nose like that and aerodynamics added to the top of the truck and/or trailer. What I don't see is where one of the trailers is connected to the cab, and it tows another one. We do use straight wall trucks like that some, but mostly for local P&D (pickup and delivery) rather than carrying goods over a distance.

Everyone collects something, I have had the collection bug since I was young. I would like to see what others here collect no matter how obscure. It can be as simple as your typical coin, stamp, baseball card collection. Share and tell us about your collectibles.
I have a lot of collections, but to start this thread; I collect old vinyl LP's and frame them to put up in my garage ( I really like any Surf themed album covers).

I know a guy who collects locks though.
Edit - I do have a lovely limited edition. (1 of 5000) vinyl of the eponymous QOTSA album. If i can gather up all the desert sessions on the original man's ruins vinyls that be a collection to be proud of.

In a court ordered DUI program I attended, they asked us to estimate how much we drank in our lives, and since I'm very precise in my regimen, it was fairly easy. From 1994-2009, I estimated I had drank roughly 50,000 beers. How am I still alive?

Good genes, strong liver... :good:
Same here... I've destroyed my body countless times yet I look 10yrs younger than I am... Acute Pancreatitus twice... NOW THAT SUCKS... Worst pain ever...
Too lazy to take pics, but I collect guitars(I own three electric guitars, one electric bass and one acoustic. Total value about 2K€). Also guitar picks. I try order them online to get unique picks, wouldn't it be boring if there were only two kinds of them?!
I used to collect old & foreign coins. I have couple boxes of them. Today,I just focus on collecting money that actually works...

Yeah man, I was poisoned with good genes. I hardly look 36, but not in a Ralph Macchio kind of way. I just really don't look my age. Clerks that see my ID constantly comment on it.
So I guess, keeping with the topic of the thread, I collect years. Years I apparently haven't lived yet.
