in almost all custom roms there a is an app like tweak manager and has by default on (ticked) some tweaks like
"RAM: Min-free", "I/O: No-a-time", "I/O: Scheduler", "VM:Swappiness" and "VM: Dirtyness"
should we enable it?? or remove (untick) those?
only on rom simplicity the developer says to untick them.
that means that the each rom has some tweaks and we dont need those extra?
if we enable those extra then it will we be unstable for the rom since it has its own tweaks?

Tweaks app comes with semaphore kernel or CF root kernel.
Basically what i do.
If i'm on stock rom with this kernel i use RAM: Min-free", "I/O: No-a-time", "SD card speed", "VM:Swappiness" and "VM: Dirtyness.
If i'm on custom rom i untick all options in tweak app.
Yes all custom roms have their own tweaks so you don't need these tweaks.
Rom will not be unstable butt you'll never know which tweaks are effective beaucouse it overlaps.

at least now I am pretty sure that no body knows what are those tweaks except Chaine Fire
Good information
Thanks for this rare info.

Hi,
for what reason do I a kernel flash? Are the rom included kernels better then a lonestanding once? can I flash any kernal to any rom?
what is the benifit of flashing an other kernel then the once ued in the rom?
thanks
When you change the kernel you choose a better kernel then stock.
They are more tweaked and habeas more support fir different things.
**Using my own JPX kernel, z4mod, 345MB Ram and ext2 filesystem**
- Different file system (better battery life) (I'm still experimenting with finding the right one)
- Access to the kernel allows you to use the led backlights on the buttons for notifications.
Those are currently the main reasons why I flash diff kernels.
You can have direct acces to one of the most advance lag fixes around(voodoo) better performance ,overclocking ,color correction for ur display, more user accessable ram and so on

Good question.
Samsung open-sources their released ROMs from time to time and many of the "kernel-hackers" (I'd call them plain hackers, what's with the prefix?) here utilize it to add/provide features and fix bugs (bugs are overlooked by people, its normal).
For instance, SpeedMods' kernel provides an Overclocking support for your Phone's CPU, if you want that extra juice. Likewise, Voodoo provides a set of visual enhancements among other things.
HTH
Another important reason is to regain 2e recovery if you lost it after flashing a stock firmware. This assumes the kernel you choose includes this feature
Fine, thank you all!
Hey guys I'm a bit new to OC/UV and I need a little clarification regarding it. I'm using Onix Kernel on Andromeda3 overclocked to 1.2 ghz and lets say I wanted to switch the rom or kernel. Is it necessary to delete the settings? Do I just delete the app before flashing the new kernel/rom?
Nope, no need to uninstall the voltage control app. Just flash your new kernel and you'll be good to go. Be aware that if you open the app again on a kernel that does not allow oc, you'll get a friendly " bazinga" message telling you that the kernel is not supported.
Continuum 5.5 and existz's latest......
Thanks man, helps a lot

It is not necessary sometimes, But sometimes it is. Especially if the voltages for the kernel change at ll, that would make your previous 'stable' settings possibly not so stable- resulting in a bootloop or any other crashing. Its always safe practice to remove your boot settings before flashing a new kernel. If that kernel is OC/UV capable and your settings stick, but aren't good for that particular build- you may find yourself having to delete those settings anyway.
You can grab the file in my sig and flash from recovery if you accidentally save settings as boot- or forget to remove your settings- It's a nice gem to have on your SD card if your an Overclocker. NOTE: It will only flash in CWM3.x. So if your running a gingerbread ROM- you can use the zip file
hi there.
(i have a 16gb sdcard)

Hi there,
I'm new to xda-developers but not completely new to android. I have also created my own ROM, which is pretty amazing trust me, but apparently I am not allowed to share it with others unless I get quite a lot of thanks and stuff so if this helps you please press the thank button.
OK, here we go:
ROM => (CM7.2 vo-1) =>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1360889&highlight=cyanogenmod+7+2+rc1+by+vo-1
the kernel on this ROM is perfect so you don't need to change the kernel.
Script => (Adrenaline™ Engine) =>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1579710&highlight=adrenaline+engine
this script will do, you don't need to fill your phone with scripts and stuff ok
Note!! => CM7.2 (cyanogenmod 7.2) is obviously not in need of any app or script to control the CPU, to do so simply go to settings>cyanogenmod settings>performance>cpu and there you could do whatever you want. also cynogenmod is apparently asked by google to not include their apps in the rom so you will have to flash them your self to do so simply click on this link to download them >>>I'm a link<<< and then flash the zip through clockwork mod ...
Also you may decrease the force closes by making a swap partition on your sd since you have a 16gb one. this also helps to smooth out some games and you will be able to do more multi tasking. to do this reboot into clockwork mod... (note if you partition your sd you will loose all data so copy all the things you have there to your pc and another thing partitioning your sd could decrease the sd lifetime) then choose advance next choose partition sd card now it will ask you to set the size choose 256mb and 256mb again thats more than enough for me but its always up to you mate.
once you have done all that and everything is up and running download root explorer or any app that allows you to access root directory. since cyanogenmod comes with this ****ing ADWlauncher (no offence to the devs) you defiantly gonna have to change it. this holo launcher thingy is the best home launcher ever so here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1636478 download the latest stable version. now use your root file manager to move the apk file to this location /system/app then change the permissions to rw-r--r-- ok? now delete Adwlauncher.apk and adwlauncher.odex go it ? note!! install another launcher like launcher pro before you do just in case anything goes wrong. reboot now. cool.
there are many things you could do mate but I don't even know if you will use or read all of that so this is it for now if you run into any problem or want more stuff and tweaks let me know ill be more than happy to help
and good luck
hmm, i'm using team 16 gb class 10 and a2sd.. my config is 2gb for sd-ext and 100mb for swap with swappines 60%..
my rom is lewa without any script, i don't like placebo script..
best kernel for battery : firekernel
everything runs great for me
Hello all developers hope you're doing OK.
So the thing is.. I have a JPJV6 2.3.3 GB, I know it's kinda outdated but it's the latest ROM that supports my language's interface.
What I need now is tweaking it the way I want but how? Do I need a specific kind of tweaks or will all tweaks work with it? I already used Pimp my ROM for tweaking and it caused a bootloop
I like UltimatumXY -b2- ROM a lot. HALO and PIE features are really cool but I don't know how to setup zRam. Can anybody help me with that???
There is no options in settings>Performance like cyanogenmod and I've tried Terminal Emulator like so:
Code:
$ su
# zram enable
sh: zram: not found
#
Is there any other way to do it? Or is this feature not supported?

If it's not there, it's not supported
A custom kernel may fix this if you really want zram

Can you suggest some other kernel for Galaxy S I9000 which supports zRam? I tried searching but could not find any.

I'll try devil kernel. But do you know how to get the CM kernel separately (not with ROM image as I want to use this xylon based ultimatumXY -b2- ROM)?

Only way is to extract it from cm zip and flash via odin. But,in my opinion, devil kernel is better, faster and very smooth. and you can find flashable zip here on xda in development section(last one is from 24/6/2013). In OP you have devil tool app also. I hope this helps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2289159 this is link for tread
and if you like ultymatum rom and features....try carbon unofficial rom by aways, you will have halo, pie and even ribbons from aokp(i prefer ribbons over pie).also with devil kernel

I found that link and flashed latest devil's kernel. Till now everything is smooth and very responsive. Really fast and feature full kernel. Though I found Devil Kernel manager better than DevilTools apk given in the thread.
