[Q] can download rom due to lack of internal storage - Kyocera Zio M6000

hello, what am i suppose to do if i have removed all the extra apps off of my ZIO. but it still only gave me 53MB internal storage, when the ROM i need is 81MB?

Did you ever get around to replacing the rom on your phone?

A rom is installed from external memory (sd card) and replaces everything you have in internal memory.
If you are trying to install the openzio rom it will wipe all your data and apps just like a factory reset would.

Flashed Desire Sense rom, now virtually no internal memory??

Hi guys
I switched from my x10 to a nexus one last week, really wanted to try out Froyo, multitouch, and all the goodies that come with that.
I flashed a desire sense rom onto my nexus a couple of days ago. I didn't bother to check what the internal memory was on first boot, and perhaps I should have, but hopefully you can help anyway.
I used titanium backup to restore all of my apps. However, I got to a certain point, and my internal memory was full. So I had to cancel the process, and then start a new batch process in titanium backup to move all the apps to the sd card. This seemed fine, I started again to restore all the previously unrestored apps. Then, sooner than before, the same thing happened again. So I cancelled the process and moved all apps to the sd card. This went on, to the point where I'm at now, that I have so little internal memory I can't install any more apps! Even though I have supposedly shifted all my apps to the sd card. I have no idea what has happened this memory, where has it gone? How do I reclaim it? What is it that is taking it up, if all my apps are on my sd card instead? :-S
Thanks for the help as always guys, any tips are much appreciated.
Download DiskUsage from the market (you may have to uninstall something first).

When you restore from titanium after flashing a rom just restore missing apps and data NOT all system data, just fyi
or just do basic apps you need
if you are going to run sense roms you should use amon_ra 2.0.0 to set up an ext3 partition. Some roms move the a2sd auto after you reboot right after flashing rom and some use Dark Tremor that they include in rom. Just need to be sure.

Thanks for the tip about titanium, I'll remember that for the next time.
I ran DiskUsage, seems I have 96.3MB of system data... Is all of this essential, or is there any way for me to clear some of it? How did it all get there in the first place?
Thanks guys.
that seems awful high for system mem free. sure it isn't internal free memory your seeing
not familiar with diskusage, if it shows all, good
i like quick system shows all mem info. maybe just duplicates diskusage, don't know
interested to know internal free memory
According to disk usage, out of a total of 196.2MB internal memory,
79.8MB is used by apps (presumably those which must be stored locally)
96.3MB system data
and 20.2MB free space.
Does this help?

ask the right questions, that is not a large amount of system memory if he is using the new sense 2.0 roms
, are you using the new desireHD rom / mytouch 4g, with sense 2.0, these roms are large, leaving very little space on the device, if it is one of these you will have setup an ext partition on your sdcard,
if you have flashed the desireHD rom plug your phone into pc
from cmd type
adb shell stop
adb shell
a2sd repair
hit ctrl+c to back out
adb shell start
this should move all apps from the /data/app partition into your sd-ext partition, which has much more free space
those don't sound right, doesn't it say "internal free memory" and 20.63mb free which is the internal is very low
I go back into TB and scroll down and delete apps from previous rom and then refresh. If you did select "restore all apps and system data" may be why internal is low. Don't think you cancahnge that till next rom flash. If it is working you can nandroid for now and think about Dark Tremor.
I used "eViL-NXSense-v.1.25", this was the ROM that I flashed.
How much free memory would you expect with this? And also, how come the memory went down as I installed apps, even though I moved them to the external memory?

right, an AOSP rom will leave you with about 70-90 MB, not exactly sure with a sense rom but i doubt there would me much left to play with as the nexus was built without sense
the reason your space still goes down is because when you install the app, it is dexopted and the code is optimized, this optimized code is specific for your phone and is stored on your data partition, so even though your moving the actual app to your sdcard, the optimized code (Dalvik cache) is still stored on your phone, as the same for any app data.
my advice, and what i always use is Apps2Ext this is using a seperate partition on your memory card dedicated to installing apps, if you have one setup already great, if not
backup everything on your SDcard and partition it with your recovery software, when asked, choose 512MB ext, 0 swap, and the rest (FAT), copy all your stuff back to your SDcard, as well as this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715940
flash that through the recovery, it will move all your apps from the data/app folder to the new partition you made on your sdcard and link data/app to that folder so any new apps you install will automatically be installed there
I have MicroMod2.10 sense which is auto a2sd, you need an ext3 partition to get more free.
I have 93mb free internal. Normal can be 75 to 120
Your system free mem sounds high
FYI: If you partition with amon or rommgr/cwmod it wipes sd card.
I just messed up my sdcard and had to reformat it, not ext partition, left it alone, thru Mini Partition Tool Wizard and sd card reader. The reader is the only thing that confirms I have ext 3. DT always shows ext2 and rommgr seems to do only ext2. Amon can do ext3, 512mb, 0 Swap
You need to get in habit of backing sdcard regularly, not necessarily all everytime, if a particular folder like videos or pics hasn't changed. They are high mem only.

Format SD

Hi all
Does format internal sd deletes the rom too??Or just cleans the sd from all the apps and their files,?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Just formats the mass storage part of your internal sd(where you put music and movies), it won't delete apps unless you have used apps2sd
So there is no way to get rid of all the old files that are left overs from unistalled apps???
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
If you format your internal SD you will lose all your app data, if you want to clean it up, open the internal SD on your pc or using root explorer and delete folders relating to apps you have deleted. In future when installing apps make sure you delete data and cache first in order to minimize any footprint remaining. Hope this helps

factory reset will do that, if you want a complete restore, flashing a 3 file firmware with pit will do that.
I'm not really sure what you mean. If you format the SD all the things on your SD card will be erased, not the apps as they kept in a different partition of your internal SD which isn't accessible without root. E.g On my phone it has an 8GB internal storage, 2GB of that is partitioned for apps, so when I plug my phone into my pc I have 6GB to put music and movies on-the partition used for mass storage. Does that explain it?

No way,i have done that 20 times by flashing many custom roms but still as soon i reistalled e.g. Angry birds,i had all the levels back. All o want to do is get back those 5.75 gb of free space i had when i bought the phone.I have only 1.4 now with almost nothing installed on it.the rest is occupied by thousands of files that are left overs from uninstalling apps...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
use the other method then, flashing with a pit file. thats gotta do it !!
whenever i do factory reset i lose my saved game data unless i restore from TB

Rom manager

I installed rom manager today. When I do a backup of my ROM with cwm, it says that it can't find ext. sd card.
And the backups list in rom manager is empty, even though backup was apparantly successful...
I also tried booting straight to cwm and backup. List is still empty.

Ignore the cannot find sd-ext, it doesn't mean external SD card, it means EXT partition on the SD card.
Which ROM are you using? If stock (or stock based), the backup will be in /sdcard/_ExternalSD/clockworkmod/backup, but ROM Manager will be looking for it in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup, hence not showing in the list.
You can get round that using an internal based ClockworkMod from the dev section, or just deal with it.

[Q] Issue with internal storage

Hello, hope I'm posting right. My phone has stock rom (4.0.4 LRK) with stock kernel. Today suddenly, can't tell why, I started experiencing strange issues with the internal storage. I can see, access and even write on /sdcard (I've just done a backup in a folder there with Titanium), same on my pc, but shortly after I boot, some apps start disappearing or to show up as grey icons, I can't move them from phone memory to sd card or viceversa, i can't unistall them, and i can't even install new apps.
Also, every action that requires to load the app list (like looking for cache to clean) fails on most cases. It's like the memory card was okay, but something was wrong with the apps installed.
What's happening?
first of all, move to a safe kernel... then either do a format using pc and put the data back. or do a factory reset in CWM recovery and reinstall apps using tb
I found out the problem was the external sd card after all but thanks anyway, you can close!
Please move to safe kernel

[Q] Extending internal storage space..

Hey guys and gals,
Recently flashed AlRoger's CM10.1 ROM, I love it. Great ROM, awesome.
However I have a problem and that is the space I have for apps. In the "Storage" section of settings; I have 3 areas. Internal Storage (around 250mb) Internal storage (around 13/14gb) and external storage around (14gb).
Problem is, the smaller internal space is what is used for apps; and as you can imagine, after installing just a few apps it was full. At the moment I have used the built in android Move to SD feature which moves some of the apps data to the other internal partition. But I want more REAL space.
I have tried using INT2EXT+ but when partitioning with MiniTool, a "Blank SD" notification comes up and I can't do nothing and am forced to reformat it. When I partition with TWRP it fails to mount the new SD-Ext it makes. So INT2EXT+ isn't working...
Is there any other way I can extend my internal storage (/data???) partition using preferably the larger internal storage?? If necessary I can use the external but of course, I would prefer to use the internal simply for ease of taking the External SD card out if I ever need to.
Sorry if this has been covered but I can't find nothing.
Thanks in advance,
Roo.
What ROM you previous have?
Something is not right with your partitions.
You should have around 1.87 for the first internal storage (system, cache, data)
And around 12.81 for internal SD
You must have come from an older cm10 in the period when there was an "old MTD" partition, pre April-2012, then without restocking you installed alroger's .
Restock to GB, then install cwm kernel, and reinstall ROM again.

I came from MIUI v4. And no I didn't restock.
Will restock and reflash CM10.1, thanks a lot for the help mate.
Will report back if it is successful.
Roo.

Thank you so much mate, have managed to get it to work after restocking. Now have 1.9gb for apps!
Thanks again,
Roo.
