Hi guys I've been searching for an answer on how to flash a modem specifically the bujp5 on my phone
Should I just use Odin? If yes with or without pit? With repartition? Should I use cwm is that possible?
Cheers

Look in docs thread 1st page for link to modems to flash with cwm or you can use zimage and flash with odin no pit no repartition.

if I'd wanna do it, directly, i flash my phone from the top... in fact, i've had to do it some times...
Yes you can, I already did too.
Flash the phone directly with Odin:
http://www.faq4mobiles.de/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=9026
and choose one of this firmware:
http://www.samfirmware.com/fwandroid.htm
You need be register there to download and after you find all official firmware and how you flash too.
Ok.. Thanks guys... Will try it on weekday and post the result ...

i need to know how to flash a new stock ROM that consist only from single file.
i used to flash my phone many times successfully using ODIN with the common 3 files avaliable (PDA, Modem & CSC + Latona)
i have downloaded a new firmware (I9003JPKE1_OJPKC2_JXKA4)
when you extract this file, you can not find the files mentioned earliar (PDA, Modem & CSC )
the result of the extracting is (I9003JPKE1_JXKA4_OJPKC2_HOME.tar)
so how to flash single file???
thanks
Just flash it as pda. No other file its required.

yes i had the same thing, but the first time i flashed it loading the pit file too
i dont know was that right or wrong :S
okay.. iw was a wrong thing to do and my phone was stuck at the samsung flashing srceen, i then flashed the gingerbread back and it worked well.. but i want to know how to flash froyo arabic since gingerbread doesnt support arabic yet .. any help appreciated
Single-file-flashing: just put into PDA. But don't use Re-Partition or PIT-file!!
You need a Froyo-ROM with bootloader cause you have Ginger running now. There should be three parts (CSC,PDA and Phone). You'll get it on samfirmware.com.
And wrong section, this thread should be in i9003-section...

Not sure how I messed up my Bell Vibrant.
I rooted it but was stuck with 3E recovery.
So I tried to flash speedmod via Odin.
The phone went into bootloop.
So I tried Flashing Darky Rom through Odin, pit file, re-partition the works
Then it went into Recovery on reboot where I saw that the SD card wasn't mounting.
So I tried to flash dbdata.rfs.tar but this changed nothing, just the same bootloop, no mounting of the SD card again.
So what can I do? Could my flashing attempts have actually caused a hardware problem?
I have Download mode fine and via Odin everything installs but can't get past the failure to mount the SD card.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
No a flash with Odin can never cause a hardware problem.
Have you unmounted the sd card while flashing?
Bad topic subject :-/
I don't think I unmounted intentionally. Is there anywhere I can simply use Odin to clean install a whole new OS which will remount the SD Card?
I've been using Odin for a while and been flashing Roms with CWM with lots of phones. This is the wife's phone and I decided to trick it out for her for Valentines day. And I bricked it! I feel like such an ass, she's been understanding so far, but if I don't get it sorted I'm in the doghouse

I usually get firmware from here and its always work great. The stock bell Canada one is under North America 2.3.3 ugkg3. Use a 512 pit file and repartition aswell. If this works you can always upgrade the pda with jw1 2.3.6 and root later but sounds like you just want to get it working first.

Thanks so much. I'll check it out and report back.
vanisleryan - thanks so much. I really appreciate it. It's all running fine again.
What is the safest way to root and overcome the 3E recovery block so I can just put roms on the SD card and flash from recovery mode?
Thanks again
Rooting depends on what firmware you used. You need to find the appropriate kernel and flash it in odin as a pda.

I have a bell Canada galaxy s also and I'm running jw1 2.3.6 as my pda, kg3 as my phone, and kg3 as my csc. You can mix and match the files so if you download the jw1 firmware from the link I gave you, just use the pda file and use the phone and csc files from the kg3 firmware. After that is installed download the file at the bottom of the first post in this link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112908
You want the one for jw1, one has a "bm" on it one doesn't, you want the one that doesn't. It does not need to be extracted. Flash in odin as pda. Then you will be rooted. I don't know if that kernel contains the cwm apk, you may need to do a search for it. As you will need cwm to install custom roms. Pretty sure it's in that thread somewhere. Just do a search.

HI people of xda.. I just got a samsung galaxy s i9000 as a present..
It has a 2.3.4 Gingerbread.xxjvp firmware.. I want to upgrade to jelly bean but when i try to root it in my laptop Odin can not detect .tar file..
I followed all the instructions. I did not extract the file..
What seems to be the problem? Please help me..
Many thanks..
How does the file name end ???
Yeah take any symbols or decimal points out of the filename except for the extension obviously. Has to be that if the tar file in the dir isn't displayed when you go to select it in odin.
If you plan on jumping from GB to JB, back up your efs folder because you will very likely lose your imei and have to replace it. If you don't want to lose and have to fix your imei (easy to fix anyway) then you must go via an ics rom (cm9).

Tar file should end with .tar or md5.tar .... im no dev but since i have flash more than 10types of phone and some of it have been super brick.. so pls be careful....
