The Rogers i896 does NOT contain the codes inside the nv_data.bin and sgs unlock from market is useless.

1- You need to root your phone (z4root is best). Check the Dev section for Rogers i896 root and unlocking threads.
2- Follow the instruction from http://www.communityhosting.net/sgsunlock/
3- Enjoy your now unlock phone

An exploit is highly unlikely. The Moto X bootloader is extremely secure. You may be able to get unlocked through the china middleman - see that thread for details.
Just bought one myself..great phone would love to root it.

You can root it now - see the PIE thread. Unfortunately, this is a partial root - no write access to /system and no custom recovery. Root is lost upon reboot and must perform procedure again. Still useful for things like Xposed and WiFi Tether....
The better option is to try to unlock the bootloader. Since you are using at XT1058 (I'm guessing AT&T branded?) your only option is the china middleman.
Good Luck

Does anyone know where this guy is getting the codes from? Surely he has a program or something that generates them based on the imei

This is freaking awesome, been really waiting on this day. I am sitting here rooted and with TWRP installed, and that means that its only a matter of time before the ROMs start a comin'. Gonna make some back ups and then flash the stock rom from the T-Mobile Development thread and see how TWRP works, will post my results. Might not get it finished tonigh tho, my 4 year old is being relentless and not letting me play with MY toys.
So they got the bootloader unlocked?
This is awesome news!!!

The bootloader was never locked in the first place. It's wide open to be used.
No reason for a thread in this section directing to another thread in this device sevtion

Thank you for your quick response sir!
Xiaomi makes easy works complicated suckssssss
Why don't you just try to unlock straightaway, maybe the permission is for the account (which you did before), not the device. I'm just assuming.
Good luck unlocking.
