What car stereo has the best Android integration? - Off-topic

I've been using a jvc for a while but I'd like to find something a bit nicer that works better with Android.
Tips?

I don't know what you mean by Android integration, but this is an Android powered stereo that I REALLY like the look of. It's a good start anyway...

Watch the video for a demo.

I stick with aux input now.
I used to have a clarion that was made for the iPhone. I hated having to go to the actual head unit every time I wanted to change a song, scrolling to the artist, selecting the artist, selecting album, selecting song all while driving.
And then it was slightly annoying when people would be in the passenger seat and couldn't figure out the controls.
So I sold it and just got a different unit with an aux cable.
Way easier, I think.

Idea for an app

I've had an app like this but it's not what I need. I'd like an app that you can record music. One where you can input a mp3 instrumental. Playback the mp3 and record over and be able to make it one file. pretty much a mobil studio. Auto tune would be cool but not sure if possible anyone wanna try

Mic would distort the input. And you'd have to edit and fine tune through a crappy speaker. It's a useful app idea if you could get the microusb to work as a direct audio in for an instrument cause usb mics are horrid. Then use hq headphones for playback. Might as well carry a laptop, if youre gonna carry all that stuff.

I found that the mic that's with the headset that comes with the phone works better than using the phone plus I could use them for playback

The media API in Android sucks. They are revamping it for Gingerbread.

[Q] App recommendation Podcasts

Okay call me old fashioned but I really want a podcather for audio and some video podcasts that can be watched or listened to offline. I like to enter RSS feeds and have my catcher batch and then download episodes. I love gpodder, is there anything like it in android?
Features requested:
Update all feeds.
present new episodes for download from all podcasts.
batch download episodes and present them for playback offline.
Thanks for your help!
Mike
BeyondPod isn't too bad.
I use google listen works great for audio
Sent from my Nook Color
I also use Listen, works great and keeps track of what you have listened to which in turn syncs to all of your other devices.
Thanks for the recommendations listen is great, and the price can't be beat

Listen is nice but I think Doggcatcher is the best catcher out there.

Still looking for one that will let you pause the stream, go do something such as run in to the grocery store then come back and resume. Every one I've tried, including dogg catcher, restarts the stream. Any suggestions?

App to control music player through car stereo

Is there any app or hardware I can buy to control my music on my phone through my CD player so I can skip songs on my actually CD player that's played through my phone???
Sent from my XT875 using XDA App
I doubt it.
There are so many Android Phone / hardware configurations and just as many car stereos that I don't think you will have much luck finding anything that will do what you want.
I know the iPhone/iTouch have hardware like that but there's a bigger market and more standardized hardware to achieve that.
Improved Voice controls on the phone would be a better bet for app developers to work on.
I know you can say "Listen to Dark Side of the Moon" and the song will queue up but, as far as I know, you can't say "Skip, Pause, Volume Up, Volume Down".
That would be cool.
I just basically want to control my music play on my phone with my car stereo not really talking about voice actions
Sent from my XT875 using XDA App
I'm not sure if this will help you, there are FM modulators that you can use to stream the audio from your phone to your car stereo.

No I have a aux cable to my phone that would just make it wireless thanks though
Sent from my XT875 using XDA App
Try Googling android car stereo or something like that. You may have to get a more high tech CD player that has Bluetooth capabilities.
Sent from the Evil Empire
Need a Bluetooth audio connection to your head unit, and a head unit that has Bluetooth audio control features. Sync by ford allows this, but i'm sure aftermarkets will too.
An audio cable does not have this functionality in any way.

Ya I figured there would be a combination of aandroud app and a 20 dollar device I can purchase to make this happen other than a expensive new head unit
Sent from my XT875 using XDA App
Maybe just maybe there is a handsfree phone device that could control the music player.... Not sure on that.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk
yeah moto has one but it doesn't play throught the car stereo system whitch it what i am trying to do i guess i might just have to pick up a ipod touch
I have an iPod Nano just because of how it interfaces with my Pioneer head unit. You can't beat the iPod controls on newer car stereos. I hope Android gets there eventually!
Look for gesture control (proximity sensor control) in the market place.

thats just strange....

Kenwood makes head units that, when coupled with a Kenwood app for smartphones, allows you to control the phone from the head unit. Very cool.

I'm having trouble trying to wrap my brain into thinking how to get that to work. so far.... nothing

If apple can get it to work I don't see y android can't what do they have that we don't besides overpriced overrattrd devices

I bet you could take a pair of those headphones that have the controls built in (Beats or something? The ones for HTC phones, maybe I'm wrong but I saw a picture somewhere where the headphone cable had next/prev and vol up/down buttons) and splice it into your AUX cable and be good to go.
Found another thread on XDA discussing this as well (for a different phone, but still most likely applies in this case): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817287&page=2
New Ford cars actually have the technology to do this. Not sure about other companies but my dad just got a new ford truck that can sync up to apps on your phone via usb or bluetooth and I looked it up and just about all new Fords do it.
yeah i want it too pretty sweet but... i can afford a brand new truck otherwise i wouldn't be discussing other options lol.. i was just go buy one ha ha ..

Usb to car stereo, to mimic ipod's audio through usb

Is this possible? I have a head unit compatible with i-devices and have wondered if there was a way to output audio from my bionic/any android to it like iPods do (to let the stereo control the phone).
I'm not too interested in mounting the sd/internal storage, as I use streaming services primarily. Just looking for an alternative to aux & Bluetooth.
Sent from my XT875 using xda premium
I don't think that's possible.) =
Best thing I can come up with is EVO 4G LTE and it's proprietary bluetooth jack. But that, of course is bluetooth.
I'm not even aware of any music devices that can stream just through usb other than ipoop.
Never mind

[Q] Does HTC One support AVRHCP v1.3

Hi All,
Can anyone confirm if the One supports AVRCP v1.3 or above?
Ie when paired with a compatible BT device such as in car head unit, does it show track information?
I currently have a One X and it does not with all Sense ROMs which is really annoying.
Thanks
Has anyone with a BT equipped car streamed music from their HTC One?
Can you please let me know if you get the track/artist info on the head unit or just 'BT Audio'?
Did you ever find an answer to this? I just asked the same thing...
Has anybody tried to connect an HTC One to a car bluetooth stereo to see if you get artist and song info on the screen?
Sent from my SGH-T879 using xda premium
I've connected my one to my Bluetooth headunit. I've only used it with deezer though as I don't use stock music. It does show some information using feeder so don't see why it wouldn't with stock player as the Bluetooth stack obviously supports it. I'll try it with stock next time I'm in my car and let you know.

Anybody has had any luck getting artist and song info when connecting the One thru bluetooth to a car stereo?? Any info will be appreciatted.

Jeez man!!!, nobody in this forum has been able to check this feature??? Come on!! somebody help your fellow android user.
Sent from my SGH-T879 using xda premium
Sorry for the late reply. Checked this the other day and can confirm this definitely works on stock music player. Shows artist, album and track name on my Sony Bluetooth headunit.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
It's very spontaneous, but it works. I'm using the stock player and I often get full info and skipping control. Occasionally it doesn't display anything, or it won't update, but I believe that's because of Android.
This mostly has to do with the kernel, not the specific phone itself
I ended up getting the One. V happy.
Yes track info is displayed with stock music player.
Annoyingly, Pandora shows the title of the first track that is on the phone rather than what it is playing...
Yes I know that the kernel is responsible for the bt profile that the phone supports but with my one x HTC decided to use a proprietary bt stack rather than the android provided one resulting in this feature not working
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
Apps I've found so far using my One that support AVRCP 1.3/song metadata: HTC Music app, Google Play Music, XiiaLive Pro. (Was really stoked to see support with XiiaLive Pro)! :good:
So awesome to finally have a decent Android phone right OOB that supports this feature!
