Just curious how long do you have to hold the power button to get the Bionic out of sleep mode? I have to hold it for a good 5-6 seconds, this is longer than I need to hold it to power up.
Mine wakes up instantly.

Interesting.
This isn't a deal breaker for me, I won't return it as this seems to be the only problem, if it is indeed a problem.
Anybody else?
Give seconds for me also. Has anyone tried receiving a phone call while in sleep? Supposedly it is supposed to wake up but I haven't tested it yet.

I'm not exactly sure what the point of sleep mode is. Is it just a hibernate mode? Do you guys actually turn your phones off?

I have to store my phone in my locker at work. It makes it faster then waiting for a full boot.
Bionic won't wake up from Sleep
I had to pull the battery out of mine. I would not come out of sleep mode at all. Also, I tried calling it while it was "asleep" and the call rolled straight to voicemail.

(theory 1).....you fell asleep and by chance had it in your pocket. You then pushed the button to turn it off then by chance again you pushed both the power and call button to put it into safe mode.
(theory 2)...no theory 2 just sounded cool to have a theory 2...lol

Maybe you were looking at p0rn and your phone caught some sort of digital std. That's a good theory #2.

LOL. Good one.
This happened twice this morning. My Bionic was on my desk, idling, for about an hour. I picked it up and push the power button to wake it up, but it didn't wake up.
I also long-pressed the power button, and it still wake my phone up. Only after taking the battery out was I able to restart the phone. Then the same thing happened again about 30 minutes later. I might have to exchange with another unit, but I don't want to since I like how everything else is working great.
Has anyone run into Bionic not waking up from idle?

It sounds like it might have locked up while it was asleep. I haven't had this happen on my Bionic. Were any apps, especially large ones, left running while it was sleeping? My last phone wouldn't wake up properly if Google Maps or Angry Birds were left running for a while when it was sleeping.

I come to you all with a slight problem. I own a rooted Incredible 2 device and I'm doing great. My friend, however, owns a Droid 4. She went from an Envy3 to a brand-spankin'-new smartphone. She came to me for help since I pretend to know what I'm talking about.
Now the problem she's having is that sometimes when she turns her phone on, the backlight come on and the softkey lights come on, but the phone doesn't boot up. I've played with it a bit and after doing to reset method (hold down power + vol down) and it works every now and again but most of the time it does not work.
I'm hoping you guys can diagnose and help me out. Thanks!
I imagine you've already checked, but just in case and because the most obvious things tend to sometimes slip our minds...the battery is charged, right? If it shuts back down before fully booting, that could be it. If it just sits there partially booted, idk. Also, plugged in or not plugged in when this happens?

Haha, yes. I was going to add that in the original post but I thought it was too obvious. Uh, it might be partially booted? It's just the backlight and softkeys that are lit up.
Stock d4?... rooted... ? If stock I'm guessing you tried the basics like safe mode (hold "OK" button from moto dual core screen till it says safe mode...) FDR... FDR and safe mode without SD card... ? When booting or the attempt to boot where does it stop? Do you see the dual core screen... the DROID eye... can you get into the recovery menu?

Just curious, were you not at home? If you were home, why would you not just put it on the charger? I've always thought this was odd, especially when people complain about a phone not lasting 3 days. They have access to a charger, but they don't use it. I put my phone on the charger every night when i go to bed so it's always fully charged in the morning.
Again, just curious as it's your phone so i really don't care what you do. lol

Less charge cycles on the battery? Data disables? Maybe he was charging his phone and/or he just leaves the option on unless he needs the other features of a smartphone.

I noticed this the other day. Just to be safe I added the Clock app to the list of allowed apps, and it still didn't buzz.
Many years ago when I bought my first "smart" phone, I turned my old Sony Erickson phone off and put it on the shelf. The next morning it turned itself back on to ring the alarm, so I wouldn't miss my appointment. That sweet thing was way ahead of its time , and it wasn't even supposed to be "smart."
I can confirm the alarm does go off and sounds off while your phone is in UPSM. every night I go to sleep wether it's charging or not I turn on UPSM and every day my alarm wakes me up, and when I wake up before it it'll still go off. So may e it's the way u set up ur alarm that caused the problem. Hell, I can even use the facebook app while in UPSM. Good luck man.

If you want to know why, it's not good practice to leave your phone in the charger for many reasons. Some maybe superstitious to others and not to many.
I just wanted to put it in the mode to try it overnight since it only drains a single percent like in 8 hours.
Lastly, I'm not the type of person that complains about battery anyways.

I just switched from the xperia to the Turbo the other day. I noticed that in the power menu there is no restart or reboot. Is this correct? I have to power down completely and then power back on?

Nothing from the Maxx is helpful to us right now. Sony coded in the reboot function as part of their own customization. If/when we get root, there are apps on the market that also let you reboot.
Will we get root? Maybe...quite a few flagship devices are becoming more and more unrootable.
Maxx already has it.

I'm not convinced that they will ever officially release it.
Keep in mind you can get a Nexus on an installment plan from Motorola and pop in your sim. It will work fine on Verizon, sans advanced calling.

Another quick question, when I had my s3, I was running lollipop with art..... how many are running art on this? Is it better on here?
If you enable developer options, you can switch without the need for root. Don't know if anyone has caught that yet.

Powering the phone off and then continuing to hold the power button until it turns back on is not a reboot.
If you shut down your computer and then press the power to turn it back on, did you reboot it? Of course not. Your powered it off then turned it back on.
If you want to see what a real reboot looks like, hook your phone to your computer and use ADB to reboot it.
