Zumocast update[1.1.1] disabled streaming over cell [Fixed] - Motorola Droid Bionic

Zumocast update[1.1.1] disabled me from streaming video over cell.[Fixed]
Luckily, I had it backed up [1.0.25] via Titanium, and simply restored it. This app restore was successful and I was once again allowed to stream a Boardwalk Empire.AVI over cellular data.
I wanted to warn others. Maybe someone in the Blogosphere can report this to the masses.
**EDIT:[[No need...cause this can be resolved ...Read further]]
Funny thing though, the "What's new" leaves out the fact that cellular stream has been removed. I'd also like to add that my desktop version (W7) requested an update upon restart. I may attempt to update the desk version if I can find the original download...and if its a full install as opposed to a version that Dl's from a server.
If this has happened to someone else, please reply to this thread to confirm that it was not a fluke occurrence.

Not sure what you're talking about here. I updated and stream in my car all day. Sounds like you have an isolated issue.

...cool. Thanks for letting me know. Let me try again then. I thought it was odd nobody else had commented about this yet. I'll remove the thread if I can get it work.
Were you able to stream on both 3g and 4g?
Thanks.

Just tried the 1.1.1 update again....on 3G, and it states:
"WI-FI Required for Video Playback
video cannot be played over mobile network. Please try again when connected to Wi-Fi."
My phone is rooted, stock Rom. Finally got some Alice in chains to stream after several attempts. but, no video.

I'm in a non 4g area. I noticed a big improvement in streaming from the new update. Let me give a video a whirl and I'll report back.
EDIT: Definitely just streamed some videos over 3g. That's weird you can't.

Still working over 4G for me.

maybe you have the data saver option turned on? Check that out.

This cleared it right up. Good Job for finding the fix. Thanks for everyone's input.
For the record, the zumocast update is fine. It was just myself who had the issue, which has been resolved by disabling the battery saver mode.
...didn't even know i was in Battery saver mode. Thanks again.

I have this same issue, but turning data saver on or off doesnt fix it. I can connect to server fine over 3g, and can play music but it wont let me play video at all. It says
Wi-Fi required for Video Playback
Video cannot be played over mobile network. Please try again when connected to Wi-Fi.

youtube freezes

I am having trouble with youtube on my xz. It suddenly starts buffering, but never continues. I have no problem playing 1080p videos from my nas, and I also have no problem using pop up YouTube player. It is not the network, YouTube runs fine on all other android and Symbian devices in the house. (one x, xcover2,808, Mini pro)
Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Yeah, was hoping to avoid that. 3 mails, VPN, remote desktop settings, savegames +++
But I will try when I have the time. Thanks.
Try to delete cache of the youtube app.. Go to application, youtube, delete cache and restart phone. This helped for me.
Tried that now, after 19min the buffer fault came along again. happens from 2 min untill forever. Have to turn off and on HD and it might start. Anying when the phone is in my dock and I am in bed.

maybe network congestion?
Reset did not work, cannot be the network, I have a kick-ass router and 70mbit down. Besides all other phones work flawless on my network. Hope this is an issue that will be corrected either by Sony update or youtube update..
Try to delete the updates. If you go to apps, then all apps, you will see youtube. Just delete cache and everything else. I had the exact issue. And me too have a great internet connection (100mb) just try to delete stuff of the youtune app. A reset won't fix this problem. Hope i helped

[Q] YouTube - "Connection to Server Lost"

So I know this has been an issue for others in the past, but everything I've tried hasn't seemed to work. Every time I load up a video on Youtube, it seems like it's about to start but then says "Connection to Server Lost. Tap to Try again". This only happens when I'm not on WiFi though. I've tried restarting the phone, uninstalling all updates, clearing app data and cache, and none of that seems to work. I also don't have an AdBlocker so I know that isn't the issue. Everything else works when I'm not on WiFi though.
Any solutions? I would greatly appreciate it.
I apologize for the bump but is no one else experiencing this issue? My friend also had it happen to him after updating to the most recent OTA. So far it hasn't seemed to be fixed.
Had it happen before update but haven't tested since update. Will check it out tomorrow when I'm out. Service where I live is terrible so can't really test now.

Edit.. just tested and YouTube is working fine. But that's after a data and system wipe from flashing new firmware and whatnot

Hmm, alright. I'll probably need to know if others that are on stock and running the latest firmware are running into the same issue. Because it seems likely that the update is the reason.
I'm stock rooted running the latest firmware and my YouTube seems to be working fine on both wifi and 3g. No issues so far and I've watched quite a few videos the last couple of days. I'll let you know if anything changes though.
Okay well I'm getting extremely annoyed here. The problem temporarily resolved itself for a few days but now it's back and now I can't even watch youtube videos on any Internet browser. It just says "sorry. This video cannot be played." it's clear this isn't an app issue, but what the heck is causing this? I should be able to watch a damn youtube video.

At this point, I'm assuming it has to do with the combination of Sprint's towers and the latest update (since that's when it began to happen). If you do factory reset your phone, please tell me if it begins to work for you.

Sadly no. It's so strange though, sometimes I can see the video as if it knows it should be loading the video, but then decides to give me an error one second before it actually starts. It's almost like it's being blocked.
Haven't been able to get mine to work with CDMA only, either.
I have tried everything and never managed to get a video to load, ever, while not on WiFi since I got my M8.

I honestly believe it is Sprint's doing, since I remember the videos being unwatchably bad quality back on my stock EVO 3D, if they would load at all, but after rooting it and removing the sprint proxy that suddenly cleared up, both the glitchy nature and quality. Probably use some kind of broken proxy to reduce bandwidth used by Youtube.

It has been happening with my phone as well. Works occasionally, but it's not just youtube, it's pandora, podcats, and even wshh. The problem has been going on since the update. I did speak with someone at Sprint and it was the usual "turn this off, turn that on, enter this." It worked but than went out again. Phone is brand new and 13 days old. Hope somebody can figure this out before i exchange it.

problem with youtube app buffering constantly

Anyone else having problems with youtube buffering constantly? If I uninstall updates it fixes it, but it's annoying dismissing the update notification all the time. Constant buffering happens on wifi and 4G.
Any ideas?
Dev edition, rooted, xposed, gravity box.
There isn't anything we can do. YouTube's servers just suck. I've tried using different dns servers to no avail.
I don't think it's a server problem. It works fine until I install updates to the YouTube app.

It's been working fine for me, but networks often throttle youtube. youtube will try to keep the video at a bitrate that works, but I've long suspected they won't adjust after initial play starts. We have comcast at home with a 20+mbit connection and sometimes youtube barely plays at 360p. They actually play better if i switch to 4G.
and yeah, youtube is one of the biggest server farms in the world and was designed with scalability and changes in demand in mind. Probably uses enough electricity to power a small country.
I had same problem

Well I had buffering problem only on Verizon 4G not on WiFi. Anyway, I tried uninstalling updates to YouTube and clear cache whatever.
When you have the buffering issue, shut your data off and turn it back on. This is the only thing worked for me. Playback starts instantly now.

I have the same issue and none of the suggested fixes work. It streams just fine via chrome, but buffers like crazy via the YouTube app.

I have no buffering problems today. No clue why. All I know is Verizon is slowing down unlimited data users after going over 4.7 GB per month.

MLB At-Bat on a 2013 Moto X

Sorry to put this on an entire thread, but does anyone here have MLB At-Bat on their 2013 Moto X, and if so does the video work? Everytime I try and watch an actual game, I get an "error: cannot play video" and kicks me back to the apps home screen.
Irritating since I pay $130/year and it works on my Roku, PC etc. The app never had this issue before this season. Stock Moto X on Sprint. Wifi or 4G, doesn't matter. MLB has been less than helpful

I have At Bat, but only pay for the audio subscription. I do watch the live look ins and have watched the multi-angle views during the playoffs (free) without issue. Have you tried on WiFi vs cellular? Is GPS on? They use GPS and/or network location to determine blackout policies, so if they can't resolve it, it may error out. Hard to say...

I have atbat and video works just fine for me. Make sure you're signed in, and make sure the app is updated. Or try a re-install. Im unlocked and rooted FWIW. I also use it with GPS off, mostly on wifi, but on 4g too.
I have at bat and an mlbtv subscription. Video plays flawlessly on my Moto x.
Thanks for the fast replies! OK, so it's not an issue with this particular model. I dno't think the problem isn't a blackout thing, NONE of the live games will stream, I just get that stupid error and it closes the stream. Wifi or 4G doesn't matter, and GPS is on.
Now, I just tried to stream an archived game from last night, and that DID work. So it's something with live games. Hmmm.

Which tier of mlbtv do you have? I have the premium more expensive one that specifically says live games stream to mobile.
Premium Yearly, the one that's $129.99/yr. I don't think it goes higher than that.

Ah, that actually explains a lot. It does a location check to see if a game is blacked out in your area. If gps has no location it will just hang. Network location works just as well. Glad you worked it out and go yankees!
It actually uses your ip to check if your in a blackout area, it shouldn't have anything to do with GPS.

According to App Settings, MLB At Bat has permissions for android.permission.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION (approximate location (network-based)) and android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION (precise location (GPS and network-based)); so it uses it for something. Probably when it can't resolve an IP to a location reliably.

Music stuttering when on Wifi

I've had a problem the last few months with my music stuttering when I'm on wifi. This problem does not occur on 4g connection.
The problem is on any wifi network I'm on. It's really annoying. First I thought it was a Spotify problem and reinstalled the app, but that didn't help.
Music played from the player stutters as well when on wifi.
I've tried googling this, but I can't seem to find anyone who has had this problem
Anyone else with this problem? Or know how to fix it?
Have the same problem, but haven't found a solution yet.

Give us details guyz. We are jot gods. Firmware version? Custom or official? Any background apps that sucking your wifi while you are connected? Just saying that if you are connected on wifi your phone is uploading on cloud and that means lower connection for the rest. Its the only thing that comes in my mind. And i would suggest you to remove connectivity between clouds like google photos, onedrive etc and check again

Firmware version EVA-L09C432B393. Official version. I've got nothing that's uploading when I'm on wifi. The only thing that is set to upload the photo app when I've taken new photos, but that is like once a month maybe.

I got B394 and i can tell you that i never faced such issues even with earlier versions. Although im considered lucky because i have 300mbps up-down on my home internet and unlimited up-down speeds, unlimited data and i dont suffer with my streaming.
Try to remove every sync from the settings, like mail , google viber, facebook etc etc. Its most likely the reason why you have lag spikes. Go on Wi-Fi and activate the setting that allows you to see the download-upload speed on the top of your screen. This way you will be able to check in-out data. connect on your wifi and check if there is movement. I can not see where else is the problem. If you have data cap on upload it could be the big reason why you get stuttering on wifi when you are using streaming music. After you desync your phone run your app and check if you are facing the same issue. If that fails most likely your phone is suffering from a hungry memory app.
All of my playlists are offline lists as well. And I don't have the stuttering when I'm offline.
I can't find any option to show up and down speed on the wifi. But our home wifi is really good, and we have no cap on upload speed.
And I find it weird that it affects both music apps. I have songs saved on my phone and these also stutter when on wifi, even though there shouldn't be any reason for it.
Take a look o.n the upper right side what I mean. And just to answer your question yes. It does feed something somewhere when you are connected on wifi. There is no other explanation. Awful but its happening. Did you try the rest i suggested you?

Thanks for the help.
Me and my husband found out what was wrong. There is something wrong with the SD card I had in my phone. Turns out Spotify was saving all of my playlists there and it couldn't handle being connected to wifi I guess.
And the SD card somehow ****ed up my wifi connection speed as well. Did speedtests with it in and out and it was a big difference.
