Sorry to put this on an entire thread, but does anyone here have MLB At-Bat on their 2013 Moto X, and if so does the video work? Everytime I try and watch an actual game, I get an "error: cannot play video" and kicks me back to the apps home screen.
Irritating since I pay $130/year and it works on my Roku, PC etc. The app never had this issue before this season. Stock Moto X on Sprint. Wifi or 4G, doesn't matter. MLB has been less than helpful

I have At Bat, but only pay for the audio subscription. I do watch the live look ins and have watched the multi-angle views during the playoffs (free) without issue. Have you tried on WiFi vs cellular? Is GPS on? They use GPS and/or network location to determine blackout policies, so if they can't resolve it, it may error out. Hard to say...

I have atbat and video works just fine for me. Make sure you're signed in, and make sure the app is updated. Or try a re-install. Im unlocked and rooted FWIW. I also use it with GPS off, mostly on wifi, but on 4g too.
I have at bat and an mlbtv subscription. Video plays flawlessly on my Moto x.
Thanks for the fast replies! OK, so it's not an issue with this particular model. I dno't think the problem isn't a blackout thing, NONE of the live games will stream, I just get that stupid error and it closes the stream. Wifi or 4G doesn't matter, and GPS is on.
Now, I just tried to stream an archived game from last night, and that DID work. So it's something with live games. Hmmm.

Which tier of mlbtv do you have? I have the premium more expensive one that specifically says live games stream to mobile.
Premium Yearly, the one that's $129.99/yr. I don't think it goes higher than that.

Ah, that actually explains a lot. It does a location check to see if a game is blacked out in your area. If gps has no location it will just hang. Network location works just as well. Glad you worked it out and go yankees!
It actually uses your ip to check if your in a blackout area, it shouldn't have anything to do with GPS.

According to App Settings, MLB At Bat has permissions for android.permission.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION (approximate location (network-based)) and android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION (precise location (GPS and network-based)); so it uses it for something. Probably when it can't resolve an IP to a location reliably.

Hey all,
I am by no means a dev, but I have had some interesting revelations on the Sprint TV app. I've been messing with the apk and found I can run the app if I delete the check_wifi.lua file. If I try to edit it, it will crash. I tried changing the ip address it checks for wifi, but it won't install if I do that.
I think it'd be an easy thing to do, but I know very little about all this. Any thoughts?

All I did was open it in notepad and changed the last number in the ip address to a 0 so that it would fail to see wifi is on. Since I honestly don't know what signing it is, perhaps this is best left out of my hands.

i read somewhere that you needed to get the TV widget on your screen also
even with that i couldnt get it to work ... so after several frustrating reboots
I FINALLY GOT A LISTING!!
at first, it was telling me that i needed to subscribe to every damn channel i tried to watch
but when i went to the subscriptions menu, i saw that i was already subscribed to everything
some more reboots later everything loaded and i could watch channels
now the whole Wifi thing could probably get fixed by some baksmali/smali edits ... im still trying to get a grasp on how to do this so cant help with that yet :\
My tv app works over 3g now.
My tv started working once i hit 3g in my area no reboot
mines working also
mine just started worrking all of sudden too ! so I installed on my wifes mt3g also worked after a while by itself ?! I had widget on at that time anyways if you dont get it to work try again its really well worth it !

Great find thanks for sharing!! This is really nice when there is nothing to watch on my slingbox!!
Works great. Thanks
Started out fine but I had issues with audio and video sync (granted I only tried one program, Dexter S01E01, but had to do it multiple times as it hung up buffering three times). I was using my bluetooth headphones (RocketFish); perhaps that pooched it.
I want it to work so I will wait a little while before purchasing the pro version but it certainly will make the treadmill more interesting. My wifi signal was strong (sitting three feet from router/access point) and my cable ISP connection is very, very good. So it probably was all these G-Tablet folks hitting the Megaload servers.

Has anyone upgraded to the premium version?
Just wondering... I was testing it out and got a message regarding having to upgrade to a premium account in order to watch more than 72 consecutive minutes. The premium doesn't come cheap and appears to stream possible pirated copies of shows?? Just wondering what the fallout of subscribing to this type of service might be.
Thanks in advance for feedback.
PS: I have had some synch issues but the video quality had been good and fits the gtab well.

Hi,
The aplication does not require a subscription.
Megavideo links can be played 72 min, and after you have to wait 30 min for watching more if you are not premium of megavideo. This is the way that megavideo works.
You can use Karambavidz and Frogmovz links without time limitation. You dont need any kind of subscription for using this aplication properly.
and version 2.4.2 is out now, check the improvements ^^
I can confirm working and streaming well on the paid version. Plays mainly from megavideo servers but has two other servers to get past megavideo limitations

TV Streams uses Flash -- as does MegaVideo, Karamvideo, Frogvideo (the sites it aggregates from)
So you'll definitely need Flash working properly.
Try going to a Flash-heavy site and making sure it works properly there first. You may need to enable plug-ins from within your browser as well (You can do this via the "about:debug" page -- just type it into the browser and go. Bring up the settings and make sure you turn on plug-ins.)
The app is fantastic - best $4 I've spent recently...
Good Luck...
Its weird. I tried the lite version a few weeks ago when I was running tent lite and it worked fine. Now I'm runnung vegan 5.1.1 and the videos start audio only with a black screen and then stop after a few seconds. I did check flash by going to natgeo in the browser and watching a video.
Any thoughts?

Zumocast update[1.1.1] disabled me from streaming video over cell.[Fixed]
Luckily, I had it backed up [1.0.25] via Titanium, and simply restored it. This app restore was successful and I was once again allowed to stream a Boardwalk Empire.AVI over cellular data.
I wanted to warn others. Maybe someone in the Blogosphere can report this to the masses.
**EDIT:[[No need...cause this can be resolved ...Read further]]
Funny thing though, the "What's new" leaves out the fact that cellular stream has been removed. I'd also like to add that my desktop version (W7) requested an update upon restart. I may attempt to update the desk version if I can find the original download...and if its a full install as opposed to a version that Dl's from a server.
If this has happened to someone else, please reply to this thread to confirm that it was not a fluke occurrence.

Just tried the 1.1.1 update again....on 3G, and it states:

My phone is rooted, stock Rom. Finally got some Alice in chains to stream after several attempts. but, no video.

I'm not aware of a single modern smartphone readily available in the 1st world that has an HD Radio chip.
No GPE or AOSP, it will only work on phones that have the HTC FM Service that normally only exists on stock ROMs with a working stock app.
It wouldn't work on my OneV or OneX without crashing.
But it worked "OK" on my HTC One with a stock Viper ROM.
The app is "under-whelming" IMO.

Does anyone like this app ?
I'm not too impressed, but on day 1 the app had 4 ratings & no reviews I think, and was rated 5.
Now it's rated 4.7 and has mostly positive reviews.
There are many "services" out there that provide people to positively rate and review apps. So I get a bit suspicious when an app is new, doesn't seem that great to me, yet ratings/reviews are almost all positive.
Does it deserve a 4.7 rating, at least among US users who are the target ?

If this works only on Sense ROMs and only on the One (right? If not, I'm sure all phones capable of FM have their own apps), what is the point of this app? I does nothing that the stock app doesn't do.
Maybe the ratings are just "not bad."

Depends on the station. The app developer Emmis Communications owns some stations, and on some of them they support this extra data, IF you have an Internet connection.
Doesn't work if you don't live in the US or don't use one of the stations that doesn't specifically support this.
I think Emmis is charging stations, some of whom are direct competitors, to get that extra data added.
If they are calling this "hybrid radio", it seems to mean you must have FM OTA AND Internet access simultaneously. Might as well stream, I'd think, unless you have significant gaps in data coverage and are OK with losing that extra data in those gaps, without RDS to fallback on.

I think the main advantage to using FM is battery life. Since you're not using the mobile radio, just FM reception, it's power efficient.
It's one of the reasons why I like to download my podcasts instead of streaming them.

Good point, it's one of the benefits they tout, though it applies to any OTA FM of course:
Get 3X BETTER battery life compared to streaming music

But I see they also say:
Uses 90% LESS data than streaming music

So they're saying they still use 10% of the data of a streaming app ? I wonder what they need all that for. Sending occasional text and graphics to the phone shouldn't use much. But I wonder how much info they're sending (and what) from the phone to their servers...
Edit: Hmm, some quick calculations and 100-200 KBytes for a graphic or two every minute doesn't seem too out of line. But I'd presume this is only true when the app is on-screen. I guess it's easy enough to check the data use.

Wut. Isn't this part of the sprint package?
Anyway, I had it working. Gonna install it again (had factory resetted) and report.
I has it. It works. There's a little more data associated with radio listening, and it logs everything so you can get back to content later if you want to. Not sure if there's too much value-add, as I don't think radio listening needs to be that complicated. If you only have the default app, you're not missing that much.
One really nice benefit to these FM tuners is that if I go to an Oakland Athletics game, I can listen to the FM game broadcast in realtime without burning up the battery.
Well I just tried again and am getting carrier not allowing, so something probably changed.

Try using a debloated Rom. I'm on stock non rooted, just started fresh. It works.
However, I didn't install the sprint default configuration. Could that have something to do with it?
Well I've tried resetting my device and even signing into Google with a different account and it won't install. I didn't install the Sprint software either. Basically only connected to my router, so nothing is installed.
The icon isn't even on anywhere to be found after the reset and when search for the App on my phone it doesn't even show it, but if I check from my computer it does and show's it's not compatible with any of my devices.
I just got this phone a couple days ago and first thing I did was HTC software update, where there was one and I installed it.
Under Settings->About(and sub menus)I have:
Hardware Version 004
Software version 1.31.651.2
Android 4.1.2
HTC Sense 5.0
HTC SDK 5.12
Kernal 3.4.10-g30a4e11
Baseband version 1.00.20.0626
Build number 1.31.651.2.CL213167 release-keys
Also, while I'm at it, I don't have a Hotspot option under settings.

Personally, I don't like any of the radio stations around here, so I prefer streaming. Plus, you don't get as many (or no) ads. But, let's say I DID want to listen to FM Radio, I'd rather do so with an app like this than TuneIn, let's say. It seems to me they're trying to take the best bits of Stock FM app and TuneIn. Sounds like good enough logic to me.

There isn't anything we can do. YouTube's servers just suck. I've tried using different dns servers to no avail.
I don't think it's a server problem. It works fine until I install updates to the YouTube app.

It's been working fine for me, but networks often throttle youtube. youtube will try to keep the video at a bitrate that works, but I've long suspected they won't adjust after initial play starts. We have comcast at home with a 20+mbit connection and sometimes youtube barely plays at 360p. They actually play better if i switch to 4G.
and yeah, youtube is one of the biggest server farms in the world and was designed with scalability and changes in demand in mind. Probably uses enough electricity to power a small country.
I had same problem

When you have the buffering issue, shut your data off and turn it back on. This is the only thing worked for me. Playback starts instantly now.

Just did a search and found this. Any confirmed reason why??
I have the same issue and none of the suggested fixes work. It streams just fine via chrome, but buffers like crazy via the YouTube app.

I have no buffering problems today. No clue why. All I know is Verizon is slowing down unlimited data users after going over 4.7 GB per month.
