Updating CM7 - Nook Color General

Hi all
I have been lazy all these days & currently on CM7 version 72 I guess. Now I want to update it to latest nightly, 208.
I currently have ROM Manager 4.4.0.7. And I think the ClockWorkMod installed is no longer exists. Because in ROM Manager when I click on "Manage & Restore Backups" it says I must have CWM installed. SO I guess earlier version of CWM is gone now.
Earlier I used to update CM7 by preparing SD card, moving the ZIP file to it & flashing in ROM Manager by booting into recovery.
Now I have forgotten every damn thing, so I want to know how to update to latest nightly. Thanks in advance

Was just there.
I was actually in a similar situation as you earlier this morning, and was able to update just now. To recap what you have to do:
[Since I'm a new user and can't post URL's, just add http colon // to the following addresses]
Get Eyeballer's clockwork image: tinyw.in/0Vw
Decompress the image.
Burn the decompressed image to a microSD card with this: launchpad.net/win32-image-writer
(As I'm sure you know, that'll erase everything in the card, so back it up first. Also, it'll show up as 1GB. When you're done with the upgrade you have to reformat it to get the full space back)
Copy onto the microSD card's root directory the following:
The newest multiuboot: dl.dropbox.com/u/20480343/multi-uboot-v0.4.zip
The newest nightly image: download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=encore
Don't decompress them!
Boot the NookColor with the microSD card inserted. A pair of skulls should show up, indicating that Clockwork is booting.
Once booted, one of the menu options is "backup/restore". From there you can do a backup, which I recommend.
(In case you don't remember, like I didn't: Use the volume buttons to move up/down, use the "n" button to select a menu item, and use the power button to go back to a previous menu)
For the actual upgrade, choose "install from zip", and select the nightly image zip file, and then confirm.
After the upgrade, repeat the "install from zip" with the multiuboot zip file.
And you're done with the Nook!
As for your microSD card:
If you did a backup, you'll find a folder named after the date and time in the microSD card, in clockwork/backup/. I'd save it to the computer just in case.
Now, reformat the microSD card to get all your space back.
Finally, copy back the original files that where in the microSD.

^Thanks a lot for replying ! You have pretty much explained everything
The earlier method was also like this only & I thought there may new methods like flashing from ROM Manager etc. Anyways here is the guide - link
I didn't get one thing, why multiuboot needs to be used ?
TIA

A few questions...

I bought my Nook through a friend at work and as I look at the CM7 mod version it is...
CyanogenMod-7-0409211-Nightly-encore
It looks like the last nighty was done in Apr 9/2011, so it's due for a well deserved update.
1. with my mod version being so old, do I need to do incremental updates or the latest nightlies is good enough.
2. I have the rom manager but not the clockwork, where do I get this.
3. is 2gig card enough to update, i rather not format my existing card in the nook to use for my update.
Thanks

Woops, totally forgot that my Nook is dual-booting CM7 and the original B&N android OS. Either way, I'm under the impression you have to re-flash the boot code every time you change the kernel, but I may be wrong.
I guess you can try without flashing the boot code, and see if it works. If not, just reboot with the card in and flash the boot. The great thing about the Nook is that it's pretty much brick-proof.

I'd better wait for someone for more clear instructions. Anyways thanks for replying

make sure you have the latest rom manager(4.5.0.1) you can update it from the market. While in the rom manger hit "flash clockworkmod recovery" select the nook color from the list, once you've done that you can go to "download rom" and download and flash the latest nightly.

For future reference, will that work for my dual-boot setup as well? It's the one in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1156909&page=1

[HOW-TO] : Restore Nook Color back to stock EASILY!

What these steps will do:
This will remove anything that you currently have on your system, including CWM. It returns your nook back to a stock 1.0.1 unit and ready for registering. I give credit to both of the OP's of the mentioned threads, I just wanted to compile an easy step-by-step guide for those who may be struggling.
I may sound like a tool, but I am actually quite tech-savvy, and by the looks of it, there are several others suffering a bit too. So I thought I would post a very basic and easy to follow step by step:
1. Shut down NC
2. Remove SD card from NC and insert it in your card reader on the computer
3. Download Bootable Clockwork SD image here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922870&highlight=cwm
4. Use WinImage to install the image to your SDcard (Download WinImage here: http://www.winimage.com/download.htm)
To install the .img file to your SDCard using WinImage please follow these steps:
1. Download WinImage from the link above, and install it on your machine.
2. Open WinImage
3. Insert your SDCard into the card reader
4. Select "Restore virtual hard disk image" from the "Disk" menu
5. Select your SDCard
6. Select the Image that you downloaded from the above link
7. Add the Zip file to the computer as well
8. Once complete insert the SDCard into your NC
9. Reboot NC
5. Also download and save the NC 1.0.1 complete from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914690&highlight=cwm
6. Copy the zip file to your SD card as well
7. Insert SD into the NC
8. Turn on NC
It will now boot into the CWM, and you need to format both the system and data on it before your flash. THIS IS IMPERATIVE!
To perform the formats follow these steps:
1. select "mounts and storage"
2. select "format system"
3. Confirm format
4. select "format data"
5. Confirm format
6. Continue with steps below
Once you have formatted the system and the data under the "mounts and storage" section of CWM continue with:
9. Select "install zip from SD card"
10. Select "choose zip from SD card"
11. Select the nook 1.0.1 file
11. Confirm install and wait for it to continue
This takes about 5 minutes in total. When completed you will have a 1.0.1 stock nook like you bought it from the store. THIS WILL REMOVE CWM as well!
To move in the CWM program you use your Volume +\- keys and the "n" button to confirm. To go back use the Power button.
I don't mean to steal any thunder from the folks who put the aforementioned links together, I just felt like there wasn't a dummy proof way to get your nook back to stock quickly and easily.
DISCLAIMER : You are following these steps at your own risk, and I am not responsible if your nook color explodes and bricks, or turns into a transformer and kills your family.
very nice. quick and to the point.
Good stuff. Always good to have easy step-by-step instructions.

"WinImage is a fully-fledged disk-imaging suite for easy creation, reading and editing of many image formats and file systems"
It allows you to take an .img and apply it to an SD card for example. As far as "dd" yes you can accomplish the same thing. If you are on Windows using WinImage is much more user friendly, though.
You can download it from here: http://www.winimage.com/download.htm

Thanks. I wonder if there is a Mac equivalent. We don't run Windows at this house.
For Mac you can just use the built-in Disk Utility to do the same thing.
I would elaborate a bit more on step 8 through 11. Just pre-emptive for some question that surely will arise by some users.
Will this work on Nooks with the new update? Kind of bummed that I didn't get one before they updated the firmware. If it does that would be how to root,by downgrading?

How do I go about getting this stickied? I think it is a good idea, and it would prevent a lot of "I think I bricked my NC" threads from coming up in the future.
I did this, step by step, exactly as you have it described and my Nook is still not booting.
The only difference I had was using a 1.1.0 image. I'm going to try a 1.0.1 image, if that doesn't work... I'm going to be quite angry...
Would you mind telling me what the file system of the SD card should look like?
I'm loading Clockwork fine, and everything appears to be working, it says that it installed the .zip (of 1.1.0) but it still does not boot (with or without the SD card in)
EDIT: I used 1.0.1 and it worked perfectly...
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I still seem to be stuck there. I'll try to redownload the 1.0.1 zip and replace it, but I assume it's the same that was already in the nookie emmc image
Nope, it's still dead
Ok, I need some help. I am running this on a mac. I dd the CWM image to my SD card and it will boot CWM off the SD just fine. What I can't do is copy the 1.0.1 zip on to the same SD as per your instructions.
What do I do to get that zip on there so I can flash it after going into CWM?

[Q] Problem with rooted Nook and ROM Manager

Hi all,
I hope this is the right place to put this - I'm not sure if it's a Nook Color, Cyanogenmod, ROM Manager, or Clockworkmod issue. I just rooted my NC to CM7 using Clockworkmod and it seems to work fine. I tried installing the GoogleApps .zip file at the same time. It said it was successful, but I don't see any of the Google apps in the apps drawer.
So, I went to ROM Manager to try and fix this. When I first opened ROM Manager it said I needed an SD Card installed to use it (I had removed it after the successful flash). So I inserted the card and mounted it in Settings->Storage and tried again. Now when I click on anything it says "You must have ClockworkMod Recovery installed before continuing! Install the recovery through ROM Manager first."
If I click the Install button, the dialog closes and nothing happens. If I click the menu option "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" the title of the screen (ROM Manager v4.2.0.0) flashes for a split second. That's it. Nothing is installed.
If I reboot while holding the upside-down U button I eventually get an "Update failed!" screen that looks like it comes from the standard Nook UI. If I try to reboot into recovery using the Power button it just reboots as normal.
I've found a large amount of resources online regarding the "unable to reboot into recovery" issue, but I feel like I don't know enough about what I'm actually doing to implement them. I also don't know how the inability to flash ClockworkMod fits into this. It's especially strange how selecting the option to flash it actually does nothing.
Anyone have ideas?
[EDIT]
Since I'm a new user and apparently can't post links, I followed the instructions on the Cyanogenmod site's wiki.

Question, did you have clockworkmod installed on your sd when you flashed cm7 or was it installed internally? Can you boot into recovery with rom manager? If clockwork is on sd, find the newest clockwork zip and flash it with your card internally. That should allow you to update to the newest version in Rom Manager. Try reflashing gapps.

Clockworkmod was installed on the SD card.
I cannot boot into recovery using ROM Manager. It just restarts the device as normal.
I believe I have the latest CWM because I grabbed it from their website yesterday (4.2.0.0). How do I flash it internally? That's what I was attempting to do with ROM Manager. I followed the steps listed in thread #922870 on this forum (still can't post links) and I believe that results in CWM on internal memory, but ROM Manager still behaves the same way.
I did reflash gapps twice, but there is still no Maps, Market, Gmail, etc.
I just noticed something else. When I mount my SD card on the NC it shows up as empty: /mnt/sdcard has no contents. Does this indicate an error with the SD card and/or partitions? I am using the 8 GB image of CWM on my 16 GB card (because there is no 16 GB version).

Your SD card has clockwork burned as an image which the nook cannot read. You can format the card later for use (go to nookdevs website). I am attaching a zip file for clockworkmod 3.0.1.0 (credit goes to Mistar Muffin). Put that on your SD card, insert it into the nook and boot it up. It should take you into recovery. You can then flash the zip file and get Clockworkmod on your emmc. You should be able to update to the new version 3.0.2.8 from Rom Manager at that point. I think the nook is confused with the absence of Clockwork internally. As far as your rom goes, I would boot into recovery when the Clockworkmod issue is resolved and reflash the CM7 build, reboot, go back into recovery and flash the gapps. You can repeat the process with an overclocked kernel if you choose. This zip is a file that floated around the forum for awhile. It was removed when Clockworkmod got an update. I have used it on my nook. It should be safe. Good luck

Thanks for your help; unfortunately this did not work. Nothing has changed. I placed the zip file in my SD card that already has CWM imaged. I went to "Install zip from SD card" and installed the zip. It completely successfully. Then I rebooted and entered ROM Manager, which told me I needed the SD card back in. I mounted the SD card and am encountering the same issues as before.
What could I have possibly done to mess this up? I followed all the steps listed on the Cyanogenmod website and they never mention anything about flashing CWM internally. Another question - why do I need the SD card for ROM Manager if that app is downloading things from the internet?
Thanks!

Sorry, my bad. I forget that Rom Manager is part of the CM7 package. You should not need the sd card for Rom Manager to work properly. I am not sure why it is calling for it. Can you reboot into recovery with the power+n method, not the SD card? If you can do that, it tells me clockwork installed correctly. If you can get there, I would do your formats (data, system) and reflash the rom. Another option, if Titanium Backup is part of the rom package try to wipe data in rom manager and give it another try. You may can do that in manage applications (I don't have my nook with me). The link below may or may not help. Look at option 3. The 3.0.1.0 zip it is calling for is the one I sent you prior. I am about out of options. Good luck.

AHA! I solved it, and it wasn't directly an issue with anything except my stupidity. I was connecting to my company's guest wireless, which as it turns out requires a username/password before you get anything other than the login screen. That is why the ROM manager was failing to flash itself - it had a worthless wifi connection. When I switched to another wireless access point it works just fine.
Thanks for your assistance bdcrim! Sorry it wasn't a more satisfying conclusion.

[Q] Updating to the latest nightly on CM7 SD installation?

So I'm booting from a SD card into CM7 7.0.2 currently. I'm using a custom boot file so I can choose to hold down the home screen button if I want to boot into the stock 1.2 OS instead.
I only have this single 2gb SD card to use atm. What would be the proper process to update to the nightly 69 build from here? I need to make sure that when I update, my current SD card is in there and that's where the install is saved to. I had an issue prior where I booted with an alternate SD card (which I no longer have) and it installed to the eMMC. That wasn't fun as I had to do a complete restore.
Thanks!
I am booting from an SD card.
To update, I put the uSD card in the PC and then just copy the new build zip file to the uSD card.
Then I put the card in the Nook, press the N + power button and when I see the "Touch the Future of Reading", count to 4 and release the buttons. Don't count to slow. I noticed one time the TTFOR disappeared and it booted into the Nook software. I just shut it down and did it again.
The Nook will automatically see the new zip file, expand it and load the new build. Once done, it will delete the zip file from the uSD card.
I noticed the newer builds automatically reboot the unit but if yours doesn't, it will stop at "Flushing Cache" and sit there. Leave it alone until the screen goes dark (a couple of minutes) and then reboot it (N + power button). You should get the Android. and about a minute later the CM7 spinning logo.
You are updated. And you don't lose any apps or data either!
If you are overclocking, I would set it back to 800MHz before you do this as a precaution.
Finally, there is an easy way to add overclocking to a new build. You just need the overclock zip file, the new build and WinRAR 3.80. Let me know if you want that info.
Well that worked as you said, thanks! I did have one problem but I fixed it myself. As I mentioned, I have a modified boot file which loads the Nook OS if I hold the N button. So trying to get into recovery or have the CM7 noticed the .zip file by holding Power+N didn't work. Luckily I still had the original u-boot.bin file and was able to copy it back onto the SD card and then I was able to get the update installed.
As to the OC, I assume I'd just put it back on the same way I did with the original.
I've read your post, and a few others but I'm either not understanding (my money is on this one!!!!) or missing a step.
I'm running Nook Color Stock 1.2 on emmc and CM 7 on the SD card.
I've tried using ROM Manager as well as copying the latest nightly to the /boot partition of the SD card.
If I boot into recovery and update the zip from the SD, I always end up over-writing the emmc of the nook, losing stock and all my apps, instead of the CD card being updated.
What am I doing wrong?? Would like to upgrade to the latest nightly. But I don't want to screw up stock (hate having to restore and redownload all the apps every time).
Thanks
No matter what I do, I always end up over-writing the emmc instead of updated the SD card.

All you have to do is put the update zip on the boot part' of the sd card and boot up the sd install like normal and it'll see the zip and automatically flash it for you.

If you're booting CM7 off uSD, you can forget about the "ROM Manager".

You are probably using the install zip option. You do not do this. You just put the zip on the boot partition, boot into recovery and the reboot. DO NOT flash anything.

Let me try to clarify... when they are saying boot into recovery... they aren NOT meaning Clockwork Recovery... they mean using the boot menu (press "n" button when you see the Cyaonogen logo) and selectin boot from SD card and Recovery. That is the SASD rocovery (install) mode and will install the update zip file from the root of the boot partition.
Thanks for clarifying DizzyDen!!! That's the part that I was screwing up
Like I just screwed up the Stock again...but that's alright...live and learn
Updating the latest right now...then I'll be putting stock back on emmc
Thanks again for the clarification
Updating to the latest nightly on CM7 SD installation?
I'm a newbie so please have some patience. I'm trying to do the same thing, update my cm_encore_full-159.zip to cm_encore_full-177.zip. I boot from a microsd card to Android. When I install it I pushed a button during the early boot process and went to a menu. Changed "boot device" from "emmc" to "SD" and "Normal" to "Alternative". When I turn on the Nook Color after it installs, I do nothing and it boots to Android but if I put a button it goes to the menu where I push the volume down button 3 times and I boot to the stock Nook Color. So, if I copy the cm_encore_full-177.zip to my microsd card, go to the menu, change the "emmc" to "SD" and "Normal" to "Alternative, this should update my 159 to 177 without losing any apps, email, etc.? Thanks

1. in bold text above... select "Recovery" not Alternative...
2. you either move the SD to your computer to put the update on the boot partition of the SD or you have to mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 to a directory (I created /sdcard/boot for this) and push the update to the BOOT partition.
Nook Color How to Update to CM7 Nighthly
Good Day,
What a fantastic website! I am new to the forum. Could you please answer the questions or provide a link to the answers?
1. What utility and procedure would I follow to back up the stock Nook Color partitions in ROM to include the stock Nook Color apps I have installed?
2. What utility and procedure would I follow to back up the apps I have purchased from the Android Market place for CM7 running off the SD card?
3. I have update-cm-7.0.0-encore-signed.zip installed. I want to update to cm_encore_full-177.zip. Do I use win32image to "burn" the new nightly to the SD card? Or, do I drag and drop the new
nightly to the SD card? If yes, on which directory (folder) on the SD card do I place the new nightly build?
Thank you!

Try my best to help.
1. I don't deal with stock, so can't help here.
2. I never intend to run any backup when booting off uSD, can't help.
3. Assuming you're booting off uSD, then just copy the new .zip file (do not rename, do not unzip) into the boot partition (root folder) of the card. Insert it into the NC, boot it into Recovery. When it's in recovery mode, it'll fully automatically do the update then deletes the .zip file, you don't have to do anything, just wait until it shuts itself down then you power it up.
I am running the following - CM7 - nightly build 08022011 on SD - Dalingrin's OC kernel 2.6.32.9 @ 1200MHz NOOKcolor
I am trying to update to a newer nightly build. I have the file downloaded on the SD card but can't get it to update.
Where does the file have to go?
I tried to reboot into recovery mode and that didn't do anything.
Any help would be great.

[Q] CM7.1 on SD...CWM on eMMC...wanna update to 1.3

Well from following some instructions on here for running CM7 off an sd card I ended up installing CWM that I did not know would go to the eMMC. So I have stock nook 1.2 software and CWM on the eMMC (by mistake), and CM7.1 on SD. I want to remove CWM off the eMMC so I can update to 1.3 and to unvoid my 2 year extended warranty. I have read through threads about returning to stock, but I haven't seen anyone with my same problem using those methods to confirm if it would work in this situation. Everyone seems to have been running some kind of root on eMMC and want to keep cwm. Also with my CM7.1 sd card out I can't get into cwm even though its on the eMMC and I have tried many ways. Do I need to have an update file on an sd card in order to get cwm to run?
Might want to post to the thread for the SD card install.
Use the second file in the first post of the link below. It will restore 1.2 stock and remove CWM from the eMMC. You will have to re-register your Nook.

1. Do I need to de-register my Nook first?
2. Will CWM 3.2.0.1 work for this?
2. If I put the file on a SD card and power on the Nook will it automatically go to CWM?
3. Is the factory reset and option in the CWM menu?

1. Nope.
2. Yes.
2b. No. Turn off your Nook. Then press power & the N button together and hold for 5 seconds.
3. Yes.
I had the same issue and followed the directions in the other thread with success.

Thanks will give it a try as soon as the file finish downloading.

Actually if you have a separate bootable CWM microSD card (3.2.0.1 should be fine as 416 said) the Nook will default to booting from the SD card when you power on. No need to hold the N button. If the update file (zip format) I pointed to is on the SD card then you can pick it and install from the CWM menu that will come up. (I would make a backup of your current state onto the bootable CWM SD card first and copy the files to your PC just in case.)

EDIT* Ok guys here is my problem now. For the life of me it would not boot into recovery, so I tricked it by trying to install the 1.3 update which goes in CWM but fails. Once in the CwM menu after 1.3 failing I mounted the sd card and tried installing the zip that was on it. When trying to install it says installation failed and something else about verification failed similar to the 1.3 failed. Any help guys?
Would my next option be to create a CWM bootable SD? Anyone have the appropriate link?

Hrm.. seems like that may be beyond my paygrade...
Just to clarify (and sorry I can't be more specific as I just removed CWM, so I can't repeat my steps), when I did it:
1. I downloaded the aforementioned zip onto a spare sd.
2. I booted into CWM (it seems like your trick should be fine, after it gets you back to the main menu).
3. I selected "choose zip from SD" or something like that.
4. I selected choose zip from sd again (ignoring the "update.zip" option).
5. It did it's thing.
6. I selected back several times, to get main menu again.
7. I selected "factory reset" (wipe data & cache)
8. It did it's thing.
9. Reboot and I was good to go.
If that doesn't work, this thread has the instructions on taking it back to stock by creating a CWM card.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931720
Hope it helps.
This is what I did
1. placed the zip file on a sd card
2. insert into the nook
3. power on
4. cant boot into recovery so placed the 1.3 update on emmc to fool it into going into recovery
5. 1.3 update failed but just used it to get into recovery
6. mounted sd card
7. select install zip from sd card
8. chose the file from sd card
9. yes install file from sd card
10. did not get a progress bar like the 1.3 update b4 failing
11. install failed...verification error (similar to 1.3 update error)
The problem with the thread you linked is that its using CWM 3.0.0.5 when the thread about restoring NC 1.2 says it need at least CWM 3.0.1.0
Hrmm... maybe the zip is a bad file? Have you tried downloading it again?
Beyond that, someone with more expertise may need to chime in.
Sorry about the out-of-date thread. It's just the one I bookmarked after I realized I had accidentally installed CWM to my emmc instead of my SD. I never got around to it; dtbrewer's post today seemed like an easier fix.
I got it guys. I used this site to make a bootable sd...http://mrm3.net/nook-color-updated-clockwork-recovery-bootable-sd/
Wrote the image to the sd installed the zip file and now I'm updated to 1.3 on the stock software and my 2 year extended warranty isn't voided anymore. THANKS GUYS!

Posted this in another thread, but thought I'd ask here as well. If you follow the fix listed in this thread, can you use the dual boot sd card and still have B&N 1.3? Or does updating to 1.3 mean you can no longer use the dual boot sd card. What I'd ideally like to have is dual boot from SD, but when I choose to boot to emmc, it will run the 1.3 B&N firmware. Is that even possible?

[Q] Can't get 1.4.1 upgrade to work

I always end up with little green android next to a triangle with an exclamation point in it. CMR reports: failed to verify whole-file signature. signature verification failed. installation aborted.
I have re-downloaded the file 6 times, attempted the process at least 10 times.
Contacted B&N chat support and they could not help, finally suggesting I take the NC to one of their stores. The NC is pure stock. I run CM7 from an sd card.
Any ideas??
I also run cm7 from sd, and what I found out when 1.3 came out is that some form of CWR was written to my EMMC...which prevented the update to the stock os.
I found this video, did it all, and everything worked great, i now am running 1.4.1 perfectly; and cm7 still runs off sd...woot!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szlGSBtWbKY
Hope it works for you!
Yoke
ps. After you restore, just plug in your usb cable and drop 1.4 to the root directory, let it sleep, and it should update right away...
It appears there are some remnants of CWM left on mine as mentioned above.
I have a hearing impairment problem and am unable to follow the sound on the video. Does anyone have the instructions written down? i would really appreciate if you would post it.
I'll try....
Goto the video link above, and below the video in the text describing it, you will see 4 links to files you will need. Click on each one, and save them to a known location.
Basically, you need to create a Bootable SD card that has just the Clockwork files on it.
You use the 7-zip program to extract the Clockwork Recovery file.
Insert microSD card to your computer...
Then run the Win32DiskImager program..using the browse button (...), point it to your extracted Clockwork Recovery file, make sure your SD card is the destination..Click 'write'...it will take 5-15minutes to finish.
When that is finished, you can close Win32DiskImager, then open your SD card and drag the Nook Color Restore File you downloaded earlier onto the SD Card.
Now that you have CWR and the Restore file on your SD...put it into your powered off Nook Color and power on! The screen should say "loading" with two skulls on each side...this is CWR.
From the main menu...scroll down to "mounts and storage". You use the Vol +\- keys for this..the "N" button is the 'select' button.
Scroll to "Format System" and select...scroll to "yes" and select..
Scroll to "Format Data" and select..select "yes"
Scroll to "format Cache"..ect...
Scroll to "format boot"...After boot, it will freeze up (normal) just press and hold power till it shuts down, then press and hold power again to reboot....
Scroll to "install zip from SD card" and select ...
scroll to "choose zip from sd card" and select...your recovery zip should be listed...select it...
After it runs through the update, remove the SD card, go back to main menu and select Reboot (the Power button is used as a 'back' button)
It should boot up into Stock, run through registration, then hook it up via the USB cable to your computer and drop the new 1.4.1 file on it...let it sleep, and boom..you should be good to go.
Hope this helps..
Yoke
Thank You so much! All is well now.
Glad I could help....
I certainly don't have a lot of experience, and searching this forum can be daunting with all of the fragmented threads. Maybe this thread will help some others too.

worked like a charm, thanks!

Just want to make sure I have all the info. My Nook has 1.2 on it and I want to upgrade to 1.4. I have been booting off of a SD that has [ROM][CM7] [v1.3] Size-agnostic SD Card image and CM7 on it. I can't install 1.4 now because CWR seems to be getting in the way. To fix this, I need wipe the Nook and install the software on it again using the above information? This will take the Nook back to a stock install 1.0.1. I then can update the Nook software to 1.4.1. I will then need to setup my Nook again as if it was new and redownload all of the Books, Apps, Mag, ect... that I had been using?
If this is the case, is there a chance on losing old books, ect... if they are no longer available from BN? Can I back up this information before starting this process?
Once I'm back up and running this my old stuff redownloaded and updated to 1.4.1 I can then put my old CM7 SD card back in and boot off of it and everything should work?
One last question, I only have a 32GB microSD card and there is not an option for a 32GB download of the CWR. Do I need to go by a different one to be able to do this or can I make my 32GB one work somehow? Thanks.
The size of the image should not matter... I would try the smallest (1 GB) version. The rest of the SD card will just sit empty. This way the image is written much faster .
ROM Updating only needs around 70 MB (for CM7.1), so 1 GB is plenty.
