Hi guys,
Im having trouble with my PS3 and can not find any recent answers any where onthe web.
Basically every thing has beenworking fine until about the last week and a bit. Some times it will not log into the PSN, other times it will.
When playing games like COD, thre is lots of lag, but when looking at my signal strength it shows as full. It also some times struggles to connect to the COD server.
I have run a speedtest and my ping is between 31-44ms and download is 1.31mbps which is about what it has always been.
Can any one help or point me in the right direction?
I have turned off media server, rebooted the router (a netgear dgn1000) and have run out of ideas.
Thank you
Try to reset the PS3. Turn the machine off and press and hold the power button until you hear two beeps.
Nothing will get deleted, it will only reset all settings etc.

Well your first problem is that you have a ps3...
Try taking it and trading it for an Xbox, problem should be solved.

BTW: Foxguard, 1.3Mbps is not fast at all. That's 130 KB/sek
You could try getting an ethernet cable and run it from your router to the PS3 to minimize some interference that may be effecting your connection. Plus, ethernet offers faster data transfer speeds.

Yup, cable is much better than WiFi when you're gaming.

Yeah, I know, I just bought a GoW LE 360. Now I'm worried. I'm going to barely even breath on it...maybe just look at it for the rest of my life...so it won't fail.
It already is wired. I know my net is not great but that is all I can get and is what I had before and all was working fine, it's just recently I've had this trouble.
Hmmm, did you try to reset it?

Unless I am forgetting, but I am sure our speed has always been that pants and it was fine before.
Its not just CoD, it is other on-line games and i can just be on the PS menu and it logs me out of the PSN? The fact it does that makes me think I keep dropping off the net or some thing.

No, when i ran it nothing else was on line... well except my iphone and Vega but they were not active, just connected.
If you get lag in a game then quit and find a new lobby to play from. Your lag problems could very easily be caused by other players.
Also, 1.3Mb/s is more than enough bandwidth to play the game, but obviously has nothing to do with speed. Check your connection strength in the game, as that is related to ping speed with the host, not bandwidth.

Hello my fellow XDAers!
I have a blueray player that has an ethernet port. My question is besides using a hardwire. What is the simplest way to connect it to my wireless router?
I thought of several, like a ehternet bridge to my laptop, a wireless ehernet bridge, and the adapter that runs internet threw the powerwires.
Which way is the easiest, lasting and permenent solution (besides hardwire).?
Thanks!

They're all usable and good solutions, but I'd personally go for going through power lines. I don't have it myself but plan to get it very soon. A friend has it and he strongly recommends it. He gets speeds round his whole house that wifi simply could not compete with.

Its like an extension box
You plug it into a socket, and it converts the socket to a socket + Ethernet port
So for e.g.
You plug in one where you place your router, and connect it by a cable
Next, near your TV/DVD player, you connect another, and then connect the cable
And then just you need to do so more setup, cant remember now, a bit sleepy, will post tomorrow
From my fingers to your eyez
It sounds like lies, but it's true!
http://computer.howstuffworks.com/power-network.htm
My mate picked up 2 for a fiver in a charity shop, so he has one in a socket near his router and then can move the other one round the house as required.
I've been advised that there are 2 different types - 85Mbps and 200Mbps. As long as you get the same type then you can mix and match makes, but he got a real bargain. The cheapest I can find on ebay is £32 for 2 200Mbps ones. If you're not too fussed about the bandwidth then you can get them cheaper.

The range is supposed to degrade anything over 300m, so that's quite a lot. Yes, obviously security would be an issue if the communication wasn't encrypted, but it is. You can set the encryption keys yourself, so it's down to you if it's not secure.
Thanks, ill get the powerline solution. Ive researched all and this one seems like the best choice, thanks for the feedback it did help me make a decison.

That's right, the technology to intelligently modulate a signal over existing power lines has been around since the 1960's (if not longer).

I have this as well, super fast!
Some cons though:
1) When flushing, I -sometimes- lose signal for a brief second while the electrons are spinning - it's kinda sh1tty, but oh well, what do you expect for free.
2) It took a bit to configure the IPee addresses and such
3) When everyone flushes at the same time, the speed slows down to a trickle
4) If you're concerned about privacy, understand this 'service' included:
Your FREE TiSP service includes a Google Toolbar-based analysis of your dietary habits and genetic predispositions, along with recommendations for healthier living.
5) I get a lot more crap coming through my e-mail now.
6) Aim your poop! I can't stress this enough! Getting poop on the fiber cable is nasty, and a sh1tty mess to clean up!
7) Sometimes the flow isn't consistent and data gets congested or clogged up.
8) DNS gets a bit wonky sometimes and requires you to flush the cache.
9) Sometimes when rebooting the router, it gets stuck in some kind of boot loop - maybe only when flushing though.
10) ...
11) Profit
Will buy again!!!! A++++++++++++++++++!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well let me explain two details which should help:
1) How far away are you from the 'water treatment facility' - is the cable long enough?
2) Have you ever heard of a 'backflow preventer'? It's a 'valve' that prevents sewage from backflowing in to your home's plumbing. If you had a cable strung through there, the backflow valve would not seat right.
added bonus: 3) Come on, seriously?

Hilarious lol, thanks for sharing.
Also,
1) There is a 250mb monthly cap. When you reach the 250mb, your once flowing data turns into a drip.
2) There are some buffer overflows occasionally.
Pluses:
1) There is a new gmail service called 'peemail' It allows you to send email messages by 'swyping' your pee into letters.
2) Automatically updates your twitter/google+/facebook/etc. when you flush the toilet!

3) No more flushing away money down the toilet on other ISPs

It may be a bit pricy, but I recommend RAM Mounts. Their X-Grip mount held my GNex through a rollover. If the X-Grip II and the X-Grip III hold up half as well as the original, then they are definitely worth the price.

Looks interesting but I gather you need to remove any cases to use the suction mounts. So if you all will have your N7s without cases then I guess this would be fine IMO.

Here's one I got at Fry's last week. http://www.frys.com/product/7133592 It's only $26.xx on Amazon, so be sure to do a price match to get the price down. It serves my purpose of getting the tablet out of the window and down where I can use its GPS functionality. I live in Illinois, and we have a rather vague law about things in the window that obscure vision-there's no real standard to be met for what constitutes a violation, so it's a discretionary call. This was brought to attention 10 years ago when a widow in a Chicago suburb get a ticket for having rosary beads on her mirror.

But you don't NEED a BT headset/earpiece right? That's just so others can't hear the person on the other end correct? I ask because I purchased Groove IP a while back to make calls on an old HTC Hero that had no active cell service, so I may try it on the N7 someday when I'm bored. That way I can call my girlfriend without my wife seeing her number on our cell phone bill.
Could you really imagine standing in a busy street holding it to your ear?

The Nexus 7 doesn't support an external mic...it has been confirmed in another thread I believe.
Edit: External hardware mic isn't supported. Apparently a few people have been able to get a bluetooth headset mic to work but only with GrooveIP. It sounds like a driver issue with bluetooth. I definitely doesn't work with my Nexus 7 and Skype.

Yea, I was wondering if it would be possible to take the guts of a mobile hotspot device and stuff em in the case of the nexus 7. Probably not, but would be awesome!

I use Platinum Tel pay as you go for my cell phone service so having GrooVeIP installed on the 7 saves me even more cash when I have WiFi. I'm not much of a phone user (190 minutes) so I manage to keep my bill around $8 a month.
Once it's set up properly it works pretty good.

Talkatone vs Grooveip?
I just got my HTC one a week ago and I've noticed some bugs , that I'd like the community to look at some fixes, because waiting for HTC will be too much, haha here's the list:
1 HTC music app not reading new music
2 Usb mount
3 signal unstable going from 3g to 4g
all the time, have to switch it off and on to get it working again
Other bugs can be listed by whoever finds more, thanks

2. I have no issues with this, make sure the drivers are installed. I did have an instance where windows said it failed to install them and unplugging the usb cable and plugging it in again made it try again and it worked fine.
It uses mtp for data transferring which doesn't need to be toggled on.
3. I had this problem too and happened to restart the phone. I haven't had an issue since. Not sure if this will fix it for everyone but worked itself out for me this way.

Indeed. I'm having really tons of problems maintaining LTE in areas where I always got it with my S3. And Sprint's 3g is so abysmal its really horrible. Chicago area

I'm south of Chicago and have no trouble at all with 3g or LTE. Maybe it's the area. I have family in joliet and when I'm in that area, I can forget about using data because it just won't work.

I'm having none of these issues

I don't have 4G and probably never will while on Sprint, the network is a joke.
The only issue with the one I can think of right now is with the buttons. They sometimes don't respond. A lot of times when unlocking the screen by using the message icon when I have a new text, the back button will not take me to my homescreen. I have to use the home button.

I think I read in some review that is meant to be that way
Shifted from the bottom of the rabbit hole
consoles
I have no problems mounting it to pc, it's on my Xbox / ps3 that I want to mount, to watch videos on my phone , I have a HTC EVO 3d and I have to transfer everything I want to watch to it in order to watch it on my consoles

Could it be because those consoles don't support mtp? Which of this is true, it's the console's fault. Google is moving toward mtp for devices and it appears HTC is doing the same.

In the suburbs the 3g is way better. Try from within the city during the daytime and you'll see how bad it is. Loop or on the near south side where I live is unusable. I imagine its problems with Sprint's back end network rather than the wireless tech itself. But I notice this phone has more trouble staying connected to LTE than my S3 in general

Every now and then I can't put up the volume wether thru the volume rocker or settings each won't work, a restarting of the phone usually fixes this but it still quite annoying when it happens, any 1 else experiencing this

3: Start movie.
4: Open menu and hit "Select player".
5: You should see "Xbox 360" after a few seconds, click on it.
6: Watch movie on TV, wireless (can even use your phone as a remote to pause/fast forward/rewind).
7: Enjoy your new wireless freedom with some popcorn.
Works on any 360, as long as you are on the same WiFi network. Cables are for amateurs.
I was having issues with signal as well and I think this may actually be the cause... I'm now debating if I should take this back. I just got it today.. I may wait.. I don't know.. I love the device but looks like I am going to have to purchase a case now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTguZel-Zpg
If anyone else has similar issue let me know. Maybe we can all contact HTC somehow and find a resolution...?
