Current Bugs - Sprint HTC One (M7)

I just got my HTC one a week ago and I've noticed some bugs , that I'd like the community to look at some fixes, because waiting for HTC will be too much, haha here's the list:
1 HTC music app not reading new music
2 Usb mount
3 signal unstable going from 3g to 4g
all the time, have to switch it off and on to get it working again
Other bugs can be listed by whoever finds more, thanks

2. I have no issues with this, make sure the drivers are installed. I did have an instance where windows said it failed to install them and unplugging the usb cable and plugging it in again made it try again and it worked fine.
It uses mtp for data transferring which doesn't need to be toggled on.
3. I had this problem too and happened to restart the phone. I haven't had an issue since. Not sure if this will fix it for everyone but worked itself out for me this way.

Indeed. I'm having really tons of problems maintaining LTE in areas where I always got it with my S3. And Sprint's 3g is so abysmal its really horrible. Chicago area

I'm south of Chicago and have no trouble at all with 3g or LTE. Maybe it's the area. I have family in joliet and when I'm in that area, I can forget about using data because it just won't work.

I don't have 4G and probably never will while on Sprint, the network is a joke.
The only issue with the one I can think of right now is with the buttons. They sometimes don't respond. A lot of times when unlocking the screen by using the message icon when I have a new text, the back button will not take me to my homescreen. I have to use the home button.

Could it be because those consoles don't support mtp? Which of this is true, it's the console's fault. Google is moving toward mtp for devices and it appears HTC is doing the same.

In the suburbs the 3g is way better. Try from within the city during the daytime and you'll see how bad it is. Loop or on the near south side where I live is unusable. I imagine its problems with Sprint's back end network rather than the wireless tech itself. But I notice this phone has more trouble staying connected to LTE than my S3 in general
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app

Every now and then I can't put up the volume wether thru the volume rocker or settings each won't work, a restarting of the phone usually fixes this but it still quite annoying when it happens, any 1 else experiencing this

Works on any 360, as long as you are on the same WiFi network. Cables are for amateurs.

I was having issues with signal as well and I think this may actually be the cause... I'm now debating if I should take this back. I just got it today.. I may wait.. I don't know.. I love the device but looks like I am going to have to purchase a case now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTguZel-Zpg
If anyone else has similar issue let me know. Maybe we can all contact HTC somehow and find a resolution...?

[app] TURN YOUR SPRINT EPIC 4G INTO A VERIZON PHONE!!!!

A friend of mine gave me this awesome app that basically lets your phone roam on Verizons network! This is by far the best app I've used. I work at the lower level at my job so my phone is constantly scanning towers and has poor signal while on the sprint network. The end result is excessive battery drain. When I force roam on verizon's network, I get a full 5 bars and my battery lasts 50% longer. Attached is the apk. Enjoy! (This requires root access)
Edit: Sorry guys, I was told that this is a paid app so it has to come down.
Reversable?

Seems to work to switch but for some reason my cell phone will not get any service at all with ROAM ONLY toggled
works fine in automatic and in home only modes
I have 3-5 bars sprint service here but I find it hard to believe there would be no verizon service here and for that I think that this may not be working for me properly not saying it doesn't work just saying it doesn't seem to be working for me.
I am home at my house btw

That's odd. It works just fine for me. I'm on a stock rooted rom. Are you using a custom rom?
Be careful. I've heard if you are on roaming for too much of the month, sprint will cancel your service.

Yes, that is correct. Please only use this in areas where sprint service is unavailable or poor. Do not leave it on roam all the time. I only use it at work and I hardly make calls while on it. I just enjoy the extended battery life without having to go on airplane mode. As soon as I leave work, I put it back to automatic.
Thank you,
Thank you so much, I never have a good reception at home and as soon as I changed it to roam only with this app, it was like BAM! 3~4 bars.

sweet thanks, i'll check it out.
The app works just as advertised, but is there any way to automate it, or a similar app that has that feature?
Meaning, my work building is like the Sprint service black hole, but I get perfect service when roaming on Verizon's tower. Yes, I could manually switch using this app every time I get to work to save battery and then manually switch when I leave, but I'd love if there was a way to make this app do it automatically or another app that has that feature where it would always switch to whatever tower had the strongest signal strength.
Is there anything out there?
Awww man. When you said verizon phone, I was hoping for a Bing makeover!

[Q] playstation 3 problems

Hi guys,
Im having trouble with my PS3 and can not find any recent answers any where onthe web.
Basically every thing has beenworking fine until about the last week and a bit. Some times it will not log into the PSN, other times it will.
When playing games like COD, thre is lots of lag, but when looking at my signal strength it shows as full. It also some times struggles to connect to the COD server.
I have run a speedtest and my ping is between 31-44ms and download is 1.31mbps which is about what it has always been.
Can any one help or point me in the right direction?
I have turned off media server, rebooted the router (a netgear dgn1000) and have run out of ideas.
Thank you
Try to reset the PS3. Turn the machine off and press and hold the power button until you hear two beeps.
Nothing will get deleted, it will only reset all settings etc.

BTW: Foxguard, 1.3Mbps is not fast at all. That's 130 KB/sek
You could try getting an ethernet cable and run it from your router to the PS3 to minimize some interference that may be effecting your connection. Plus, ethernet offers faster data transfer speeds.

No, when i ran it nothing else was on line... well except my iphone and Vega but they were not active, just connected.
If you get lag in a game then quit and find a new lobby to play from. Your lag problems could very easily be caused by other players.
Also, 1.3Mb/s is more than enough bandwidth to play the game, but obviously has nothing to do with speed. Check your connection strength in the game, as that is related to ping speed with the host, not bandwidth.

Their thinking is you can use your Galaxy Nexus or pretty much any decent android mobile and the great functionality that is Wifi tethering.
I'd have liked 3G version as well since I want to use it out and about. Lucky as long as you have an android device, you can easily create a WiFi hotspot.

Well.. I was expecting somebody to offer tethering. It will work. But most of us have big screen devices like GNex etc. So if I will take my GNex from the pocket.. I will use it rather than will turn on the Tethering.
Hot spots are OK. But... well... It is not as available as GSM (and in some cases costs more than GSM; at least in Lithuania).
I have iPad with 3G. Maybe that's the reason I can't imagine tablet without GSM anymore

Yea, definitely specially when you look at the break down of the device and what they are really making from it, close to nothing.
So long as you have a data plan on your phone, and this also includes tethering, then you could just tether it to your phone for access to the internet on the go. But, frankly, a tablet in my opinion is designed to be a home device that only leaves home when on extremely long trips. On a day to day basis, smart phones suffice.
We are getting a few trolling topics whose only intent seems to be to discourage people from buying what appears to be an excellent tablet.
It is easy to spot them by the titles. "Anyone else disappointed" is a good candidate.
It would be nice to give them their own forum, maybe titled "You gotta be kidding".
It's not rocket science, don't like it - don't buy it.

Look at MOST POPULAR 7" tablets: Kindle Fire, Galaxy Tab, etc. None have GSM chip and yet they are selling like hot cakes...
I have Clear 4G with unlimited Internet for $25 / month. Backup is my Note via tethering.
Doesn't bother me, I would choose the wifi over 3g anyway. Whats the point in paying for a second data plan when I can tether.
I imagine 3g/4g versions will be available later if there is enough interest from mobile networks wanting to offer it.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 2
Doesnt bother me from purchasing it. The only thing that I am upset about is not having USB OTG and MHL connecting out of the box. But that is something I can live with.
But with a 200 dollar tablet you really cant complain about a lot of things.
3/4G Model Not That Necessary These Days
Even if Google had offered a 3/4G model, I still would have bought the wifi version.
Why would I want to pay an additional $10 a month to add a tablet to my plan when I get free tethering / wifi hotspot?
I always carry my phone, whether I'm carrying the tablet or not. If I absolutely have to have a data connection on the tablet, no problem.
I've been practicing Bluetooth tethering with my galaxy tab 7 and my galaxy s showcase, in anticipation of my nexus, it will be little more inconvenient, but i don't think I'll miss 3g at all

How is there always someone who just has to complain about something. Im guessing you do not have the device seeing as how not having cell coveragei is such a big deal and so important to you. I said in a different thread and I swill say it here as well; I do have the Nexus 7 and it has taken all of my expectations and blownb them out the windows. This thing is as solid feeling as an IPAD but ten times more awesome, runs smooth as butter 24/7, and plays Tegra 3 games better and more clear than any other device I have seen, Hands down. FOR $200 bucks..?? I use my Galaxy Nexus as a hotspot and keep it on all day. When im in the car im charging the Galaxy onlky cause the nexus 7 has awesome battery. This topic is almost as bad as the one a few lines up that says "Disappointed in CPU perfomance" or something to that nature.. That's a ridiculous untruth or a faulty device.,

Safely can say I would use n7 as phone

After using the nexus 7 for some time now, if it had calling capabilitys I would use that it as phone without a doubt in my mind.

I've made quite a few calls on my N7 over wifi with GrooveIP. Looks funny when I hold it up to my head though.
I tried using GrooveIP earlier and it crashed the first time I tried calling my N7, but worked fine the next time.

But you don't NEED a BT headset/earpiece right? That's just so others can't hear the person on the other end correct? I ask because I purchased Groove IP a while back to make calls on an old HTC Hero that had no active cell service, so I may try it on the N7 someday when I'm bored. That way I can call my girlfriend without my wife seeing her number on our cell phone bill.

The Nexus 7 doesn't support an external mic...it has been confirmed in another thread I believe.
Edit: External hardware mic isn't supported. Apparently a few people have been able to get a bluetooth headset mic to work but only with GrooveIP. It sounds like a driver issue with bluetooth. I definitely doesn't work with my Nexus 7 and Skype.

I finally got some time and mounted my nexus 7 in my car's dash. I shot a short vid of it. Not much talking cuz I hate the way I sound.
Once I clean everything up I'll shoot another short one of the install particulars, how the tablet removes, the amp, etc...

Very clean install looks great, was it difficult to install the torque hardware?

Thanks! It is, it is held in with neodymium magnets, but currently I have to remove the bezel to free up the plugs. I have future plans to modify the bezel to allow it to be lifted and pulled out with removing it.

Thanks! I just ordered the cheapest Bluetooth ODB2 plug on amazon. It would have been super easy but the odb2 plug on my car was downward facing so the giant wireless odb2 transmitter was hanging down and interfering with my legs. I unscrewed the odb2 plug and relocated it. I then plugged in an odb2 extension cable and routed it under the center console down to the parking brake area so I can see all the blinking lights, heh.
The Torque software was a breeze to link up to the bluetooth transmitter, and setting up the car information was easy too.
Used this adapter (or one that looks exactly like it heh)
Good job. Very clean looking.
Did the N7 unlock itself when you started it? How?
Right now, I'm just using 3 clips that holds mine over my stock unit but seeing more and more dash installs, I may be ordering me a spare bezel soon!

I purchased an app called "Tasker" that performs configurable "tasks" when events happen. I configured it so that when AC or USB power is connected to bring up the tablet, set timeout to 23 hours 59 minutes, turn on wifi, and some other things I want to happen. I also set it so that when power is disconnected, it sleeps after 7 seconds, turns off wifi and bluetooth, and some other things.
Next thing is to get some kind of anti-glare screen deal... i like it clean like this, but the glare is bad sometimes.

Thanks, Yours too!
I didn't think I was going to need to root my 7 but my "Tasker" app isn't killing the apps I want killed when I turn off the car. You can use root to kill them but only if you have a rooted device, of course. So I'll probably take care of that tonight. Going to have to read up on how to do that.

Is really easy to root
Go to nexus7root.com follow the video and it shouldn't take you that long. Though everything will get deleted once you unlock the bootloader. That's the downside

I've updated the description on YouTube with the list of stuff I used and links to examples. I've also added some Apps that I thought were particularly useful for this project.

Thanks! Will do.
Nice job.
I keep threatening myself with doing something similar but it's bugging me as to how to hold the Nexus in place. I have a 2003 Impreza and although it's double-DIN, it's just a gaping hole, nothing to mount it against.

Thats kinda how any of them are. I'll take some pics tonight and post them of how I mounted it. Basically I took the double din kit I bought and, using a dremil with a cut-off disk, sliced off all the stuff down to the basic bracket that holds the kit to the car's dash. I then cut off two pieces of paint stirring sticks (the free wooden ones you get from home depot) to go across the bracket and epoxy'ed them onto the bracket. I then drilled 4 holes the size of the magnets and epoxy'ed them in place. Then I epoxy'ed three strips of hobby metal strips with holes in them (you get them at Lowes where all the bins of nuts and bolts are) to the back of the nexus 7.
any plans for bluetooth handfree phone calls?
I recently got a Nexus 7 also and plan to do an in-dash install. After looking at a number of projects like this around the web there is one thing I cannot find a really good solution for: hands free Bluetooth for my phone.
Ideally I would like to use the tablet to make and receive calls via Bluetooth through my phone just like you can with many Bluetooth enabled in dash decks.
I have looked at a couple apps to aid in this like: Tablet Talk, and GrooveIP
While these could possibly provide the feature the remaining problem would be the microphone built in to the tablet.
Have you thought about this for your install? If not, does anyone else know of a setup that would provide an ideal hands-free Bluetooth experience for making and receiving calls?
This looks good..I'm hoping to do something like this once I buy a car..
