Hi there.
I have X8 E15i with SEMC SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE and try to flash LinuxDX by this tutorial.

What went wrong? Any suggestions?

If you are using any version of GDX, and it contains the modules, and you have NOT delete it.
Install again the latest GDX without flash the module.

But I haven't installed any GDX yet, only flash LinuxDX. After that I tried boot my x8 to copy GDX's update.zip on SD, but phone won't start.
Or maybe it shouldn't start? After flashing LinuxDX not boot system but just go to CWM and install GDX?

The pink cloud thing your seeing is probably the Sony Ericsson logo animation thing starting the reason it looping is because linuxdx wont work with stock u need to tap the screen when you see the gingerdx logo untill clockwork mod shows up then install gingerdx from your SD card

You are not install GDX yet? Then what do you use?
Custom kernels are probably not work in stock rom, because the ramdisk is based on gingerbread.
At least you must have 2.3 rom to work it, from what i know.
Flash GDX should fix your problem.

1.flash gingerdx
2.full-wipe
3.flash linuxDX
4.Done,enjoy

I thought the correct order is kernel ---> ROM, not ROM ---> kernel. Although andrewtjb's method works fine

You can use CWM option to mount sdcard and copy zip to it w/o booting to rom.

BOOT LOOP?
1st.. try flash the rom again
2nd.. do a full wipe...
thanks me if this help...

[Q] Install Gingerdx in my X8 and dont start

HI,
I Install GingerDX v11 on my xperia x8. Before I update the band 15 without problem and now phone does not start and gets stuck in a blue android logo mounted on a skateboard with a URL of cyanogen.com
XRecovery had installed and made a backup, but will not start either.
Help please !!!!!!
Try "Wipe Cache" in xRecovery menu, it solved for me.
Hi, you can also go a little further and do a full wipe (factory reset) it solves more than 90% of the problems we have with custom ROMs.
And you can use Titanium Backup app to save and restore apps on future *wipe requirements*
if u got any partition, format it.. then install any custom rom.full wipe

[Q]SandroB with GingerDX
Hi Guys,
I realy like GingerDX roms, but since version 012 i have problem with one applicatin. I'm using SandroB for SSL sites that are using internet certificates and since ver. 012 it could not work. Every time the application strats it shows force close and thats it. Does anybody know what have been changed in the latest versions that can cause this malfunction. I've tried with full wipe after every upgrade with same negative results. Do you have any idea what can be the reason for that and is there same way to use that app in latest releases.
Thank you in advance and Best regards!
GingerDX,SandroB
Hi,
There are two versions for 2.3.x.
market.android.com/search?q=sandrob+2.3
Did you try both of them?
I am using now CM 7.1 nightly builds and this works.
org.sandrob.stock233
For CM 7.0 works
org.sandrob.cm233
Hi,
yes I've try both versions in the market and i get force close when I open the application.

My infos: Firmware versopn: 2.3.3

camera set up
how can i use the front camera of my pone using yahoo messenger?..
thanks in advance
@Xooley: at first you have to flash JVB or JVH as base ROM, then you can flash the theme.
Here's the text which you can find in the theme-thread (1st post):
Installation Instructions
- Please make sure you always back up your rom prior to flashing.
- Rom needs to be deodexded JVK or JVB >>> HERE
- You need to have CWM installed >>> HERE
- Download to your SD Card,
- Use CWM recovery to flash from SD,
- After install script will reboot phone (on some kernels) or reboot it manaully
- let phone boot
- Enjoy

[Q] flashing custom kernel (problem)

actually, quite thankful and grateful for the advice for unlocking bootloader with stock ROM.
but however, it's custom kernel turn. i want to flash nAa latest kernel and all went well until when i unplug for it stated 'disconnected (my phone is still connected)'.
but then i stuck at flash / recovery (not the cwm or xrecovery), this had finally pushed me back to stock rom again ...
im using x8 and i want to flash nAa for other roms ... but how?
when i connected my phone during the 'stuck', i can see that the kernel is now the custom kernel, the only problem is that i can boot it to cwm as well as system for further adjustment ...

As a foreword: nAa's kernel is meant to be used with nAa's MiniCM7 (v2.1.9 at the time of writing) ROM - chances are the kernel won't work with other ROMs NOT based on MiniCM7!
About the "how to flash" ...
(I assume you already got the Android drivers installed)
- Download Flashtool and install it.
- Download the FTF file of nAa's kernel and put it into the "Firmwares" folder in the Flashtool directory.
- Start Flashtool
- Select "Flash"
- Choose the Kernel
- Now do as Flashtool asks you to:
1. Turn the phone OFF
2. Insert the USB cable into JUST your phone (DO NOT connect to the computer yet!)
3. Press the BACK key and KEEP IT PRESSED
4. Connect the other side of the USB cable to your computer
5. In case Windows says something about installing a driver let it do its job.
6. Once the flash progess started you can release the back key.
- As soon as the kernel has been flashed disconnect the phone from the computer
- Turn it on
- Keep on pressing the back key to get into CWM (yes, it's the back key on nAa)
- Flash MiniCM7
- Full Wipe
- Reboot
thanks but ...
thanks for ur great info, but after flashing nAa kernel,
the SE logo had turn to a semi-white but not really obvious black screen, and im unable to get to recovery, or i need to install minicm first before flashing nAa kernel?
No, You don't have to install ROM first While the new logo appears press back button rapidly and You will get into CWM There You can do a backup of Your current ROM, do a full wipe and install new ROM
thanks and ...
thanks for answering, i couldnt get the SE logo to show up too, just semi-white black screen and no further changes till i removed battery.
i had tried many times and the results were a despair to me

How to change kernels+ROM?

Hi, I'm using nAa+PrimeHD and I want to try Alfs+GingerZaraki but I'm confused with the instructions...
On GingerZaraki's thread it says don't install addons or updates from Alfs :S
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660560
but on Alfs it says I have to do it....
Also, I don't know if I have to get another ROM first, go back to stock kernel or install the ROM and then flash the kernel...
thanks
pd: I'd like to know what to do the other way round too, I mean, from Alfs+GZaraki to nAa+PrimeHD
I think u should follow ginger zaraki instructions...
Sent from my E15i using Tapatalk 2
first you should install alfs kernel with flastool...then go to flashing ginger zaraki rom, without addon for alfs...may be there is addon too in the ginger zaraki rom !
OH LOL, I didn't notice that PrimeHD runs with Alfs too...
But still, Alfs kernel instructions say:
Install instruction
- Download the update-rom*-AlfsKern*.zip or kernel AddOn provided with rom and place it on sd-card
- Download and unpack the rar and put it in flashtool/firmwares folder
- Turn off the phone
- Run flashtool
- Press Flash, choose downloaded file
- Plug in the usb while pressing back button
- Wait till progress finishes
- Unplug the phone, turn it on back
- Hope for the best
- Go to CWM recovery with back button and install the update-rom*-AlfsKern*.zip or Kernel AddOn provided with rom Remember if you update the rom, then reinstall this.
- In v08 you need to install new adreno libs found in post #2
- Wipe cache and dalvik-cache in recovery
So, if I'm going to install GingerZaraki, I shouldn't do the step 1?
thats where I get confused...
"- Download the update-rom*-AlfsKern*.zip or kernel AddOn provided with rom and place it on sd-card
- Go to CWM recovery with back button and install the update-rom*-AlfsKern*.zip or Kernel AddOn provided with rom Remember if you update the rom, then reinstall this."
Also in notes it says:
-You need to install the included update-rom*-AlfsKern*.zip to mount sdcard to pc, fix the chargemon script and screen brightness(v09+).
D:?
may be you should go to page alfs page !! But just for share,I ever used alfs 8a ( not alfs 8a for Gdx ) I always install update zip /addon after flashing rom with cwm
Read the GingerZaraki post completely. It says no alfs kernel update required, its already included.
Hope i helped
Just install Alfs v08a normally and then flash GingerZaraki V07. The addons are included in the ROM so you don't have to flash anything else.
Good luck.

nvm I did it :B thanks
I didn't like GingerZaraki... it's like as fast as PrimeHD+nAa but uglier and with that annoying statusbar bug
imma try Alfs9+GDX v028b

[Q] Installed a Custom Rom and phone bricked, what was the problem?

Hello everyone, i have Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 11w43, android version 2.1, rooted.
Today i installed the rom GingerDX, i think everything was correct, i had
- Busybox installed
- Rooted
- Xrecovery installed
...
when i selected the file update.zip it told me that The rom was installed and i rebooted(i thinked that i must factory reset after rebooting from the options menu) and my phone bricked(stops on SE logo when starting)
I used SEUS and fixed the problem, but i don't know what was the problem
must i do something other to work, or its because i have 11w43?
If i do it again and do fullwipe directly after installing the rom will it be now working or not?
i need help

are you on stock kernel?
1. do not update busybox if you are.
2. use cwm, not xrecov. if using xrecov use v13 and below.

your phone's bootloader is locked..
so for a locked bootloader you have to install a Stock Rom..
if you install a custom rom on your stock kernel..i.e locked bootloader your phone will get soft bricked..
go on the GDX page again. and look for the stock rom.. ! your problem should be solved.. :good::good::good::good::good::good:
Source: Did the same mistake
then realised the difference between stock and custom roms!
