u see in this forum their are a few rom cooking tutorials which has created many rom cooks and thus many roms for us to use
I humbly request on the guys with knowledge on the same to provide a tutorial on how to cook Roms for our great phone so we could have much more development for our phone for example see below SG3 development forum and ud see what i mean
see this link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=868
link 2 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046306
link 3 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049846
link 4 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058699
because of the above threads their are so many new cooks roms in the SG3 forum

[dsixda's kitchen]
This is the best kitchen I have found out. (To have rooted ROM, w/o any bloatwares, bash, de-odexing, and many more options)
You need to modify the updater-script file to a greater extent before using custom ROM developed by this kitchen, otherwise there is a possibility to brick your phone.
Though I have found out the correct parameters or changes to this and could build a custom ROM of my own. (fully functional ), but please allow me some time because creating a new thread takes a lot of time. Such that there are no loopholes and nobody should suffer any losses from the tutorial.
Since currently I have a huge office work load, I will post a tutorial soon as I had mentioned before in some other thread.

Just go through the this thread:
[dsixda's kitchen]
for brief details:
dsixda's Android Kitchen
Compatible with Windows (Cygwin) / Linux / Mac OS X
Who is this kitchen for?
Those who are brand new to creating custom ROMs and want an easy place to start learning
Those who just want to modify shipped ROMs or someone else's custom ROMs to their liking
Those who are confused by all those scripts and complex commands required for building and extracting

Guide added in our development section.
Please check: [GUIDE]dsixda's Android Kitchen - Now with Huawei Ideos X6 support(Windows/Linux/Mac)
Supports for cooking stock ROM or custom ROM built on Stock. Not supported for Cyanogenmod or MIUI releases.
Hey Napstar! I have ported Galaxy Mini CM ROM to my Galaxy Y. I have zipped the folder after replacing Kernel and editing several files but when i try to flash it from my stock recovery I get errors like:
assert failed: write_rawimage("/temp/boot.img" ,"boot")
E:Error in /temp/sideload/package.zip
(Status7)
I think something is wrong with the MANIFEST-INF folder in zipped rom.
Can you tell me how to make a new MANIFEST-INF folder for my ROM.
Waiting for reply...................................................

Hi all! In this thread you can ask me to make any custom graphics you want for Android OS and it's programs.
Please post screenshots and point what you want to change, because sometimes it is difficult to understand what you are writing about.
I don't allow you to post my work on other sites (especially on 4pda.ru) or use it in your own mods.
And don't post your work in this thread. If you want to do this - ask my permission.
Mainly I'm going to make mods for Samsung Nexus S, but other devises are also welcome
+1
I like this thread already.
Will be back later with some screens, haha.
Need a help with your touchwiz 4 post, it doesn't install on rooted JVB tried most of ways I know and trying last one, "copy all files to directory".
Update 30 min later.
couldn't do this too.

There are some ROMs around that are deodexed and zipaligned. The ROMs around here unfortnately are themed (not to my taste) and/or have removed Samsung stuff that i use. I want a nearly untouched FW (i remove a few Samsung apps on my own).
So i'm searching for an automated method (that can also be used for future FWs) to deodex and zipalign the files of my phone (maybe only some binaries or java applications and a batch file).
I can manage to pull/push all files from/to /system/app and /system/framework but i'm not able to do the rest...
Also very interested in this. Or a clean kitchen or a how to on making a kitchen to mod our roms.

I just wanted to create a thread about MODIFYING / CREATING CUSTOM ROMS FOR THE i9000.
Does anyone know how to modify (for example, Tayutama's JPM Full ROM) ROMs?
I googled and just found some HTC ROM HowTo's.
Check my signature for all the tools u shud need in terms of deodexing, editing apks, creating signed update.zip. Thats all you really need i think :\
A zipaligner is missing.
yes that'd be perfect! trying to optimize my device myself here too.
if there's no automated way could someone be so kind to post some instructions as to how?
found some stuff on the g1 forums but i'm not sure if it'll work...

Quite an old topic, you'd be better off just creating a new thread.
Use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246
This thread is about development, for any other guides you should look here
Hey guys, our beloved phone hasn't got so many developers. So we should encourage the users to do something with their free time, let's call it development.(I an one of them too )
So the idea is: if anyone has some knowledge maybe he will want to share with us. For example: I will do some research and if I am lucky, I will find some guides for beginners in development.
After a while we can even make a document with everything that was posted here.
Useful links:
1) http://stackoverflow.com/ //there you go, you can ask everything about development there but don't forget to come here and share what you have found
2) https://github.com/munjeni/android_device_htc_golfu //ICS CM9 sources for our phone thank you munjeni, for your work
Basic things: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/index.php?title=Doc:_Building_Basics
You might have heard the word "git", here is a short explication from Cyanogen
How to port
*here is a nice guide for ROMS
Note: You can port from almost any device but you can try devices similar to our device like LG P500, HTC Explorer, Samsung Galaxy Ace,HTC Wildfire S, Samsung Galaxy Gio etc
*here or here is how you can port any theme to any build
!Compiling things on a virtual machine isn't that good.

Reserved for future guides.
Hunter
Please remember that aircombat has already written some guides for the device. So this'll purely need to be a development based thread.
I did a lot of searching on how to my make my OWN Custom rom without the dumps( LEAKS) available, but couldnt get, only did i get is how to cook rom and fxes and mods,so can someone post a link or relevant thing that can help me?

I have already seen this, but thanks, but i need something different
HI every body
thanks for everybody that works hard to get us these amazing stuff ...
first of all , i`m not a developer nor an expert or have any good knowledge about developing ... but i really want to enjoy these great roms and tweaks as everybody else .. so i have 2 suggestions that i really think that will help anybody just like me :
the first one is when a developer release a new rom , i really need a step by step installation method with links for every kernal or anything needed to install it ... ( i came up with this suggestion after i tried yesterday to switch from a rom to carbon rom , but unfortunatly the installation failed even after an other member tried to help me and gave me instructions what to try to install it )
maybe alot of you thinks that is a silly suggestion , but believe me that there is people like me that dont know about developing and want to enjoy these roms
the second suggestion that if you could make a thread that contains all developers roms and kernals and any other stuff and group it like : ( best roms for games ) or ( best visual looking roms )or anything like that ...
i don`t know if this is allowed in the xda forums .. but if it is , then it would be great .....
i know that some members will tell me to try it by myself .. but believe me i love to try roms by myself but i really dont understand every feature in every rom , actually i dont understand most of the features .. so if you do this suggestion it would be great
thanks again for everyone that works hard at this great forum , we all appreciate your work ... hope that you continue the great work

Hello.
1. Each new ROM, Old or New will always have complete installation procedure in the OP Page 1. Failure to install Rom can be reported in the thread or try addressing the dev directly.
2. I'll tell you this before our forum moderator tells you. Best Roms and such are in violation of XDA rules thus not allowed in XDA. Our kind developers created lots of ROMS for us users with the "BEST" interest thus it's up to us entirely to choose which ROM suits our preferences best. And since many of them are busy with their actual real life, I don't think any of them has time to maintain these 'links to here and there' thread. It's our user's duty to search and learn by ourselves and finally post a valid question in this forum. No offence really but your request is basically like asking your teachers to do your assigned homework.

about the the installation procedure .. not every rom has specific information about needed kernals or recovery mods (specially ) ...
and about the teacher thing .. i said that im sure that somebody will come and tell me that i should do it by myself and test the roms ... but to let you know that i tested 4 roms in just 10 days and tried to test the 5th but couldn`t install it ... thnx anyway

Not wanting to debate, but for kernels it's already stated that always use a safe kernel. When you come from a TW based kernel. Philz kernel is the best option to choose. As in KK roms, always flash a Raw 4/5 first as a base kernel, reboot to recovery n then u can always flash philz latest KK compatible recoveries (V.6.0.4 up) to do all wipes and formats before flashing rom. If you flash recent roms starting with 4.1 up, these are mandatory steps to take. The rest does not really matter.
Again I mean no offence, but I think you can see that each devs has painfully written all instructions in their OP so that's why I think it's really not fair for us to ask total guidance like that. And since you are able to flash test that many rom, u should already know what to ask in this forum.Again no offence meant. Thanks
