Guys,
I dont know what I did but I can no longer do a factory wipe.
CMW says "Error: Can't mount /sd-ext" Ive tried reformatting / repartitioning the sdcard. it just keeps saying cant format.
I tried CWM 2.5.1.2, then i even flashing it again and tried a 3x version of CWM.
I just wanna be able to flash roms again. Please help
ANY HELP / SUGGESTIONS IS APPRECIATED.
Hey, there are a couple of threads that talk about
"Error: Can't mount <something>" ... you should check them out. I also recommend doing a search for "Cant' mount" you will find a lot of threads talking about a related problem.
Here are some, I hope they solve your problem:

good luck.
ive tried all of those
my issue isnt mounting the sd card but rather the sd-ext partition. ive rrad all these threads and tried everything stated.
Also. it seems i have 2 different CWMs. 2.5.1.2 when i flash into recovery from ROM Manager and 3.0.x when i go into recovery manually.....how is this possible and how can i fix this?

you shouldnt need to mount the external sdcard in CWM. you flash things from the internal sdcard
when i try to wipe data to flash a new rom it says
"
Error: Cant mount /sd-ext/
Skipping....
Done
"
im unable to wipe data so im currently unable to flash anything

thats completely normal.
wiping data has nothing to do with flashing anything.
CWM is unable to mount the sd-ext on our phones because it has a different location (sdcard/ex-sdcard) than most phone (mnt/emmc)

So I had my s-on and i was using Holics Rom. Then I wanted to flash a new kernel (faux). Then wifi wasent working so im like yeah wipe everything. So i went into recovery and wiped everything in the menu including INTERNAL LOL! So now it just stays stuck at the htc boot. When i try to mount internal so i can try to flash a rom it wont let me it says " E: Cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p35(file exists)" and the same with sd-ext but i was able to mount internal sd on to the pc where i saw my nand back up file can i use this to flash everything back thru fastboot? Any solutions to this???
Nm I put the Rom on another sd card and mounted it even though I got an error and it install. Huge relief I was about to give up lol.

Evening,
After trying nearyl everything I found online to get my phone back into a working state I finally gave up and decided to ask
you for help.
So, it all began with me trying to flash the Jelly Bean Port onto my SGS in the hope it would fix my constant crashes and other problems
I had after another flash.
I got it working at some point, but it did not react when I plugged it in the usb port as mass storage device or any other mode for that matter.
So I tried some other solutions.
A couple tries later i started getting the "cant mount /dbdata" error which i fixed with a solution from this forum using a dbata.tar as PDA, using the JW4 firmware.
However because I wanted the usb to work I tried again to get jelly bean to run, without success.
I'm no unable to boot the phone passed "Enter your password to decrypt storage" or in any other mode.
When flashing I keep getting "Failed to mount /data" which seems to disappear at times when the external sd is inserted.
My Computer regocnizes the Phone as two different drives, even when i remove the sd...
So yeah.
The moral of the story is: I cant get the phone to run on any mode except jellybean and there without usb connection, if i get passed the decrypt thing.
Currently all flashing leads me to the recovery screen saying:
"Can't mount /data " and "Cache wipe failed" after that it just bootloops.
So, can anyone help me out?
P.S. I can at all times enter recovery and download mode.
Hey
If u can enter download mode, why dont u flash 2.3.6??that should clean all your problems..
Plus if you upgrade to JB your external sd-card wont be mounted to ur system...(you cannot alter any data directly to your external sdcard...
There are 3 ways to solve your prob..
1.use CWM..
--goto mounts and storage, then hit external sdcard..
2.use your external memory card directly with ur system..that means without your phone
3.(long method)
Transfer ur data to internal sdcard then use a file manager and transfer to external memory card
Cheers

I tried this approach and flashed the JVU Version from samfirmware.
It leads to the following error:
Code:
Failed to mount /sdcard (file exists)
(...)
Format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
During the boot up, after the first flash.
Note: The external SD-Card was not in the phone, as well as the sim card.
After that it starts bootlooping.
If I insert the external SD-Card before the flashing process i only get:
Code:
Format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
And the Phone starts to bootloop again.
I've tried to google this and I get two reactions:
The internal SD is fried.
Format the internal SD using CWM.
I believe I did try the second approach, but i would greatly appreciate a short guide on how-to properly format my internal SD

I was under the impression they had fixed that bug in V6.
Anyway, it's not the real problem since I would rather get my phone to work again, before I go ahead and try out jelly bean again.
The ics semaphore.tar odin kernel from the semaphore thread has worked for everyone I've suggested it to.
For some reason it seems to work where other flashable packages don't, worth a try.

First of all I flash stock firmware. / 3 PDA files, MODEM, CSC / odin with the pit512 and Re-partition.za second is that the flash / ICS, JB / clearing script to use the kernel, then the full wipe and cwm JB installation ....

At this Point, I get the first error concering the formating, see above.
If I still continue and manage to get JB to work (I event tried the kernel cleaning script). I get locked out because of this "Enter password to
decrypt storage" Error. Which is known to be fixed by performing a factory reset, which I cant do, because of the first error.

try and enter any password five times until prompted that this will wipe the card, than you should be able to do so
So, today I decided to buy a new smartphone after one last try of getting my old one to work.
I used the default guide to flash JellyBean and now it works ...
I guess it was scared or something, I'll keep using it to check of fluently it works for now and bought and sd reader to solve the usb issue.
So this thread can be closed.
Thanks to all for their tips.
My i9305 is routed, and has clockwork mod installed on it, still running the new EE 4.1.2 official rom thought.
Im unable to mount the data partition in clockwork mod which means i cant create any backups of my phone as it fails.
The internal sd card partition wont mount either when i try and intsall a zip from internal sdcard i get cannot mount /emmc.
I think my partitions are messed up and i probably need to reflash a PIT file to get them back in the right place.
Can anyone confirm that this is right?? And if http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1950591 is the corrrect PIT file to use for me?
Thanks
Hey,
which version of cwm do you use?
I only know the emmc error from the 6.0.1.5 touch version in the dev thread.
Dont play with .pit files restore to stock factory reset then use cmw

Thanks for your suggestions; I’ve actually managed to fix it now.
I actually forgot to mention a fact which as it turns out was the reason for my problems.
The device was encrypted and CWM can’t deal with encryption or the encryption would be useless!!
I unencrypted the device and I’m now able to mount both partitions.
Can’t believe I didn’t think of this in the first place and nearly flashed a pit file!!!
Hi everyone,
Many custom roms nowadays have in their instalation instructions a point that sais that it is recommended to perform a "manual format /system". I'd like to ask what does it mean exactly? After doing full wipe/factory reset, cache and dalvik wipe should I open aroma and delete "/system" folder?
I've tried to google it but it doesn't seem to appear anywhere.
I'm really sorry for my bad english.
cheers

Manually formatting /system is recommended because it delete the system inbuilt apps which may not be compatible with the new ROM which you are going to install,
Apparently, even if the base is the same !
It is recommended by dev's ! It better to do it
I believe it happens for the rom to find completely blank space to extract withought creating malfunctions.
Manually formatting means that after you wipe data/ factory reset.. open mounts and storage (not aroma) and there you'll find an option to format system

This doesn't wipe internal SD
Quick explanation
/system/ is the system partition in android, while
/storage/sdcard0/ is the internal SD
You might also have
/data/
/datadata/
And so on, formatting either of these in cwm won't affect the others, so internal storage is safe unless you choose to wipe it.

/system is the folder that contains everything of your ROM. Devs ask to manually format the /system because it will completely wipe the ROM of your phone, including the kernel provided together with the ROM. This is to make sure full functionally of the new ROM you're installing.

Wiping /datadata is not a factory reset which prevents bootloops like yours. Wipe /data, /cache and dalvikcache, after flash the rom you want again and it should boot up

If you read the link [Tutorial] How to Unbrick, Flash, Downgrade, Root, Update i9000 from Froyo to Kit Kat, everything was mentioned in it and links to download were given in it. Only the you need to be careful which download link you click, as this free file server is bit tricky, they have included a lot of download links on it, just us free download button, a number of times , for download to begin.
on the other hand you can use the link you mentioned too, but you may need to download a CF rooting kernel to go with it.

Hello friends. This is my first post and unfortunately is to annoy.
I commented a couple of days ago I bought a phone as autoregalo advance for my birthday, among many things you want to install Cyanogenmod, I had some problems with the wifi and found he had to flash a file, perform and restart the phone.
When charging the phone again remains in the part that says Cyanogenmod, and is loading but never gets there. I started to enter the recovery and re-flash, but when I try to access the internal memory to re-flash I get Could not mount the sdcard (internal). I put one external and the external if I flash, but always stays loading and does not pass that point.
What solutions do you recommend?, I think the error that must be loaded by the partitions that must be malformed. Any idea how to solve it? I can not enter because load rom
Thank you so much hope their contributions of ideas
Try using fastboot and with fastboot flash recovery again and then try flashing your ROM. Sometimes in recovery you need to go to mounts and storage (something like that) and select mount/unmount internal SD card. If its mounted already, unmount then remount.
